thanks bud, much appreciated 🙂 im on the lookout on ebay, new 8TB QVOs are regularly sold there for between 250-280€, just havent gotten around to snipe one yet 😄

good timing to buy storage atm, prices arent expected to drop, let alone stabilize anytime soon... currently on the lookout for a Samsung 870 QVO 8TB for my lady, shes in dire need of more space! speed isnt paramount here, since its mostly media stuff like pics n vids. so QLC should be fine, main thing is maximized space 🙂 i for one should be good for another couple of years with my current 24 TB SSD setup 😄

the green looks kinda "wrong" after being used to the classic red n black form the 900 series era 😄 how will you apply the thermal pads on the vram without them getting squished into the heatsink fins of the cooler? -
hahaha i guess the wrong color choice is a small price to pay for such a steal! nicely done!

still broad availability of 4090s in central europe, however prices are creeping up considerably. whereas before you could get your hands on a basic 4090 model at sub 1600€ (incl. tax), ure now looking at roughly 1850+€, with rising tendency... iiinteresting take, thx for those infos, had no idea. so much for "being all about the community" and "independent from big brand sponsors" 😛 sure, no need for sponsors if you can suck out the community hahaha -
audience love the underdog and resulting struggle, so of course its gotta be a renegade every single time hahaha. havent started watching it yet but planning to do so with my lady at some point. thanks for the input bud.

ha i was juuust about to say id love to see your input on overclocking the A770. especially with regards to how much of an actual performance bump you get out of it 🙂 -
oh damn such an awesome movie tho @boondock saints. and i never realized there was a sequal and tha NORMAN REEDUS was playing one of the main characters lulz. i guess the last time i saw the movie was waaaaay back before he actually became famous with TWD 😛

hmmmm....with a 9% difference in gpu core clocks but basically no difference in resulting fps u might be limited somewhere else, other than the GPU core. have u played around with vRAM or system RAM, see how that impacts your numbers? but yeah in this case it absolutely makes sense to go the UV route 🙂 -

this is one of the most annoying factors with current gen laptops: when i was on the lookout to get a new machine for my lady, i had the choice between: 1) socketable cpu paired with socketable DDR4 sodimms, 2) soldered cpu with socketable DDR5 sodimms, or 3) soldered CPU AND RAM. Naturally i went with option 1 and didnt look back 😛 and yeah 16 GB is scratching the limit of what is comfortably doable while being productive these days... -

looking forward to your X670E results my man 😉 currently dialing in 7600 timings, bandwidth wise im definitely beating my tightened / final 6200 setup, but curious to see if i can also reach similar latencies. aaaaalso, im noticing during 7600 tightening that i might have to give 8000 ANOTHER go with stability testing. seems like i was too tight on some subtimings haha. still a lot to learn, but making good progress with AM5 🙂 nice tool, havent heard of it before. about time someone offerred a slim version of that armory crate crap 😄 at least for those who dont have any other choice (i.e. on laptops) thought of you right away when i saw jays upload. those issues he described sound super funky. havent run into anything like that either with my 7950X, but couldnt judge the X3D chips since i havent tried those. i might switch over to V-Cache with 8000 series, but ill take my time comparing performance 🙂 at 4K resolution, its barely a 5% difference between 7950X and X3D 😄 -

lucky man, with TWO MCs close by, most others would be happy about one hahaha shame about EVGA not providing such a basic bios update....i mean, its not like were talking "new" cpus here that need to be supported... -

that just seems wrong. this kinda software optimization shouldnt make such a huge difference, there must be something fishy going on. either the stock windows thread handler is SO BAD for 12-14th gen intel cpus that it leaves 40%+ on the table in terms of performance or there is something else going on in the background (intel not disclosing any details on how this actually works is not helping in this context). i mean, why would anyone leave so much performance on the table that such an optimization is even necessary? what a shit show... prices are almost back to day 1 levels. boy am i glad i got my 4090 right on the spot 😄 welp, looks like i lucked out on the ram front, i can only go up to 7600, which i am currently tightening up and finetuning for minimum voltages. both 7800 and 8000 error out, even with extra loose timings and high voltages. thats aight though, my finalized 6200 profile is roughly 70+% faster than the stock SPD at 4800 (will be sure to post more details on this soon). lets see what the fully tuned 7600 will bring to the table 🙂 im hoping for same latency and a nice bump to bandwidth! -

welp...its RAM tuning, of course its finicky 😄 no news there haha. what makes it a bit more complicated is if ure used to Intel RAM tuning and switch to AMD after a long time on team blue (like i did), ull have a bit of a learning curve since things work a bit differently. but in the end its all the same: u can shoot for a quick n dirty oc and call it a day or tinker away for weeks n months to get every single timing tightened to the max with lowest possible voltages. and the higher u go, the more tinkering and fine tuning it needs, exactly the same for intel. can do a quick n dirty 7200 or spend tons of time to tune in 8000+. on that subject: i just nailed my 6200 settings on gear 1, ill post some data on it later. now ill need to transfer my bios profiles to the new version after i update. then off i go check and see if i can get 8000 running finally! was a goood decision to dial in 6200 first, now i have a better idea of what timings 8000 will likely need to be stable 🙂 nice sum up bud, kudos 🙂 -
haha nice one! i heard they pulled back on all the grinding and microtransaction shenanigans and actually decided to put some gameplay fun back into it, hm?

haha right there with ya man. the main reason i went with AM5 was platform longevity, keep one board and ride it all the way until the end 🙂 (plus basically identical perf. as Intel at almost half power consumption aint bad either lulz). i initially went with the 7950X due to its early release (couldnt be bothered to wait for X3D parts) plus I originally needed the cpu horsepower for my stuff. however, ive since transferred almost all compute intensive workloads to my 4090, so next round i might jump on the X3D wagon. ill wait and see what the performance numbers will be, this time around ill already have a system on hand so no rush 🙂 nah id keep the 4090 for the time being bud 🙂 no sense in following any particular brand, just check whats on the menu and then decide which offers you the best option. for me that currently is AMD on the CPU side and Nvidia on the GPU side. brand loyalty only makes sense when its about reliability, i.e. warranty service or hardware lifetime (i.e. samsung SSDs or Seasonic PSUs). anything else would be foolish. nah, 6000 was never the max ryzen 7000 could support, it was just always touted as the "sweet spot" in terms of fire and forget easy tuning and bang per buck. same for Intel at 7200, basically. you can go up to roughly 6400, in rare cases to 6600 in gear 1. remember, intel cant even use gear 1 at all with ddr5, its always gear 2 going from 4800 all the way to 8000+. switching to gear 2 on ryzen 7000 also allows to go 8000+. as with intel, not every mobo or cpu imc can take it, but in general its definitely possible.
