in the end, what counts is that we have lots of options to choose from π whatever u go for, its always nice to have options. bad thing is when manufacturers artificially take that away... -

sometimes its less about gaming, but more about productivity. i have a dual monitor setup at work but use my 32 inch display at home for work, as well, dividing it up in two. can also be a cost factor, using two smaller displays might be cheaper than one huge monitor. as for TVs, the situation has gotten better, but latency might still be an issue here and there. also, its not everyone's thing to have a gigantic TV right in your face and taking up desk space hahaha. so yeah, might be lots of things π -
best of luck! keep us updated on your progress π

with the all soldered mobos the power delivery is usually designed for both cpu and gpu. so just cranking one of the two wont have much impact π thats how they design rhat whole power boosting / balancing thing, as well, combine cooling and power capacities to use whatever is best in a specific scenario (gpu for gaming, cpu for productivity).
-
yup amperage limit, could be hard programmed into the firmware to protect the mobo VRMs. laptop power delivery is usually designed very tightly around the utilized hardware.
-
impressive. what kinda downclocking, if any, do you see on CPU and GPU?
-
oh wow thats unexpected. here i thought that it would be as good as the previous Noctua 3070 edition...

agreed on the vRAM front. ive heard several game developers speak in the past weeks and the concensus is pretty much aligned: 12GB will BARELY get u by nowadays, with 16 GB being the sensible midrange option. 24GB as on the 4090 isnt even considered highend anymore, should only be viewed as upper midrange / performance tier... WE NEED MORE VRAM! -
keep holding out as much as possible, teach those greedy bastards a lesson that we will not take such ridiculous pricing (says the guy with a 4090 build lulz) nope, still alive, but they axed it down going forward. for battlemage itll likely just be 1 sku in the midrange. but thats a good strat if u ask me, let them find their proper footing first, get the drivers fully ready, finetune hardware efficiency and then move slowly up n down the stack for future gens.
-
nice, thats 96% of my 7950X at stock, quite impressive π hows the cooling going with the 250W gpu and the 140W cpu? can u keep it under control?
-
much respect my man! tinkering away and enjoying some hardware fun while the war is raging close to you...make hardware mods, not war! π
-
its all about style, the noctua 4080 will sport the targeted brown / tan color theme π plus itll be superior to any other gpu fan cooling out there hahaha afaik there is no noctua 4090 yet right?

thats ok guys, back to the topic at hand π its weird that ure getting a blackscreen with the 6700k, it should work out of the box. can u test it in another machine to make sure it works? sorry to hear about the 970M my friend...if youre interested i still have a 980M laying around with premamod vbios π

welcome buddy! i am sure you will have tons of fun with your P771DM, enjoy! π

good to hear there are still ppl around to keep the NH55 lounge alive π ill be giving my lady a ram upgrade for her upcoming bday to 2x32 GB at 3200 mhz, should be fun to see how far i can push those. on the current 3800 sticks i maxed out at 3500 gear 1 and 3800 gear 2 with the 12600 cpu in it. yeah thats exactly what im hoping for, better efficiency and binning on the 14th series, just what the doctor ordered for our NH55 machines π -

oh i sure hope i dont hit a mobo limitation too soon, but rather keep hitting CPU IMC and DIMM bottlenecks. i mean, i paid more than enough for the Asus X670E Extreme to be able and properly pull it forward while upgrading π so far its looking good, only the IMC holding us back. speculating to be able and upgrade my lady's machine to a 14900K down the line with some Prema magic.... π but thats still way in the future hahaha -
haha yeaaaah, im a bit of a data hoarder.... π please do tell us more.... build thread incoming? π

curious to see if i can get tighter timings at 6200 Mhz with the G.Skill DDR5-8200 48GB kit im eyeing. also wanted to try to run "Gear 2" mode to check and see how high i could get the clocks without focusing on latency π -
huh sounds like the forum has gotten more quiet overall? or is this just for the thread? the "townsquare" thread seems to be alive and kickin' tho, plus the membership numbers have gone up considerably since last i checked, so good signs π besides, im sure other users might just be hibernating for a bit like i did / am doing ^^ not fully back, but might post a bit here and there. nothing to cry about with a 3060 my friend, i must admit my setup is overkill for (almost) everything i do hahaha. for video transcoding its a blast to be able and go through a full movie length clip in like 6-12 minutes via NVENC on the 4090, used to take me like 60-90 minutes on my 9900K previously ^^ plus crazy to see Control maxxed out being able to keep the 4090 in check, but at 4K with RT maxxed out and no DLSS its still chugging along at like 70-90 FPS π

thats an absolute steal of a deal, and the 6700xt is basically recommended as the card to get in any and all price/perf. comparisons currently for gpus. its an overall market for value buyers, so luckily we at least still have those previous gen cards around. lets see how long stock will last though... huh, wasnt aware that dual ranking would have any improvements on ryzen 7000, i thought that was just applicable to ryzen 5000? -
hahaha nice to be missed boys! no worries i wont completely disappear, actually have NBT open all the time as a sticky tab in my browser, just dont get around to reading / posting much lately π having a lil princess baby is a blast though, totally different life! still, once my two ladies are asleep i steal myself away to spend time with Hyperion π so if you havent noticed my updated sig yet: upped my storage to a whopping total of 24 TB ssd goodness (redundancy FTW, about time im doing some backup action!) and also rocking a total of 14 case fans now: - 6x noctua NF-A14 industrialppc-3000 in push / pull on my arctic freezer II 420 as intake in the front - 3x arctic P12 A-RGB as intake in the bottom - 3x arctic P14 A-RGB as outlets in thr top - 1x arctic P14 A-RGB in the back as outlet - 1x arctic P14 A-RGB on my ram to keep it cool while i blast 1.5+ V through it for tightest timings so total of 9 fans intake, 4 fans outlets and 1 fan inside the case for a net positive pressure, keeping everything nice n clean / dustfree. those dustfilters in the enthoo pro II work like a charm btw and very easy to clean! here the current rainbow puke goodness: i like the simplistic white of the suprim x in the middle of all those colors, add to that the thin rgb case stripe π
