nice extra for the firecuda is also the three year data recovery service thats included. so no worries on losing any data in the first three years 🙂
-
only had mine for like a week or so in use so too early to tell 😄

LOL ok, 110% priority on whichever comes first HAHAHA ure going insane and i love it 🤣

sure, but have u looked at other multi core apps aside from CB? like Blender, Corona, V-Ray, Geekbench, etc... i expect its the eyes that take a wide look around and dont just focus on a single review and a single benchmark 😄 if you take in all the reviews the 7950X beats the 13900K in most multicore benches whereas the intel chip has its nose ahead in gaming and single core hands down. brilliant summary as usual, keep it up! 🙂 i feel ya bud. the most important take away for me this CPU round is this: there is something for everyone! i.e. true competition and actual, real options all around. you want DDR4 and keep ur ADL platform? go RPL! you want a forward-looking platform and dont want to upgrade ur whole system every year? go Zen 4! you prefer highest power consumption, highest clocks, baby cores, highest single core perf? Intel all the way! you prefer good perf/power ratios, no baby cores, highest end platform on the market, best multicore perf overall? Team AMD is for you! and now let the flamewars commence. ill just lean back and enjoy my system and be happy for everyone who got something theyre interested in 😄

LOL i think its playtime now, all the boys in the yard! 🤣 about time, i was feeling a bit lonely here with my 7950X, have fun tuning guys! ha, as if Roman would EVER test ANYthing at stock! 😛 -
meh, nothing shocking really, a bit slower in multicore vs. AMD, a bit faster in single core and games. pretty much as expected.

lol i wish. tweaking so far was just limited to gpu since thats the easiest / most straight forward. for ryzen cpu and ram tweaking ill need to do way more research, since i havent been on an AMD system since the good old Athlon days! besides, i figured it doesnt make sense for me to spend too much time tweaking yet, before i havent ordered and installed all the planned fans in the case. as it is right now, i dont even have an exhaust fan! 😄 only thing ive done that i had mentioned before was quick n dirty bios tuning and booting tests, with the 7950X maxing out at like 5.7/5.8 ghz all core and the RAM at around 6400-6500 Mhz.

im pretty sure it will be less expensive than the 4090 at least. AMD isnt there yet where they can demand more or even just on par pricing with Nvidia. with 1300-1400€ u should be very solidly positioned to get one of the two flagship cards theyre planning to launch in dec 🙂 and i totally get the time constraints with a kid on the way! 😅

that would be awesome for all gamers worldwide (at least those who can afford new hardware among the recession 😅) would be reminiscent to the X3D tech on the cpu side. AMD using the same weapons to compete with nvidia as with intel previously. money and resources well spent. downside of dlss 3 is that its more geared towards hardware that can already generate sufficient fps, for slower hardware dlss 2 / fsr 2 is still likely a better solution due to less impact on latency. in any case, im expectind nvidia to continue improving on dlss 3, maybe limit the latency increase and reduce artifacts. then well have a true additional option 🙂 more of the same then it seems: rasterization amd lower res wins for AMD, higher res and "extra goodies" like RT and dlss 3 wins for Nvidia. but judt as with intel before, AMD is slowly but surely creeping up to par with the competition. as opposed to intel though, nvidia so far hasnt "slipped" in terms of delivering and focusing on new products, so itll be a tougher competition. no doubt in my mind that AMD will price rdna 3 competitively vs. nvidia. theyre not at the point where they can demand more money than the competition (and recently learned that the hard way with zen 4 😅). however, theyre getting ever closer and more dangerous, thats for sure. pass on that, doesnt have enough RGB for my taste 🤣 plus waaaay too many potential points of failure. LOL all potential buyers still desperately trying to get a card will curse u for this 😂 yep, 1 month if interest subsides quickly, but 2 at the higher end. this is actually back to normal, first weeks of a new gpu gen are always sold out pretty quickly before normalizing down to msrp 🙂 -
yeah bud, wouldnt wanna recommend any garbage to you guys. today im moving the last data off the Dark Knight, his days / hours are numbered 😅

hmmmm tough decision. whats ur use case and ur budget? will the 3080 eat some of the budget u would invest into a 40 series or RDNA 3 gpu? if so, better wait. if it doesnt make a difference budget wise then go for it and enjoy high fps until u make a proper nextgen decision. same goes for use case: have time NAOH for gaming and later not so much? then go the 3080 route. otherwise, if the 1660 holds u up sufficiently in your current games, its worth the wait.

alright its looking promising: i threw some Kombustor and Furmark at the gpu and hit the full 108% TDP = ~520 W max at peak. on average it was around 500W and bouncing off the power and voltage limits alternately. first time i had a glimpse of 3210 Mhz on the core, holy guacamole 😂 but at that level i started to see some artifacting nevertheless, i think i got pretty lucky with this chip, seems to be quite frugal in terms of power consumption and is able to clock quite high. VRAM wise looks like im pretty average at around 24-24.5 gbps max.

LOL dude ur parts are arriving at a blistering pace! it took me like 1.5 months from the very first order (mouse) until the very last core part actually arrived (gpu). with u its like wham bam bam, done and done inside a week 🤣

haha i dont get the logic behind this either, but apparently there is indeed a difference between the two. otherwise, why would all 600W rated direct PSU cables only have 2x8 pins on the PSU side? what i wanted to say with this is that there arent any variations between those direct cables vs. the 3-4 pronged adapters. might have something to do with losses / temp variations due to additional mechanical connections. and yes, in theory it could be the PSU not delivering the power, but so far no indications for that. ive been hitting 3050-3180 Mhz on the core at 1.1V where i hit those 465W. i doubt that it would go above 3000 Mhz if the power were limited. as i said, i want to do some heavier stress testing first so we have better idea whats going on. will keep u guys updated!

ah no the number of 8pin adapters cant be compared on the GPU facing and PSU facing side. GPU facing vs GPU facing 4x8pin > 3x8pin > 2x8pin, but for PSU facing side all cables come with 2x8pin. besides, all testing ive done so far was voltage limited, i havent seen power limits come to fruition yet, thats why im looking for more power demanding tests 😄

yep its quite beefy, although from the looks of it the be quiet cable might be comparable. highest gpu power draw ive seen so far was 465W at 1.1V and oced. havent run any 3Dmark benches yet, so curious to see what thatll bring. i want to prove without a doubt that the TX-1600 cam exceed 450W on the gpu 😋

ive actually noticed the same for the regular Suprim X, saw the pricing on a particular online shop thats known for strictly sticking to MSRP pricing go up by 20€. not much yet, but maybe a sign of things to come. i was surprised at the start that the suprim 4090s were priced so low in comparison tbh, while being the ones with the strongest vrms and among the higher quality cards. so glad i got mine at the "super low" introductory price then! -
actually, havent they already changed the whole usb naming scheme to just list the speed? the usb 4 v2 moniker is supposed to just be for internal developer reference. consumer facing theyll just list Gbps: https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2022/09/usb-if-says-goodbye-to-confusing-superspeed-usb-branding/ in any case, i juuuuust got my first 40 gbps (usb 4 / tb 4) ports in with my new desktop build and wham heres the next gen already 😂 quite insane if you think about it: 40 gbps is already sufficient to saturate external PCIe 3.0 x4 drives, with the new 80 gbps doing the same for PCIe 4.0 x4 drives, craaaaazy

alright guys, finished installing Hyperion, next step is to collect all my data off the Dark Knight and transfer it over. also planning to temporarily empty my two 860 Evos so I can fuse them together in a RAID 0 config. does anyone know if TRIM is still available for a RAID ssd config? would have to test that before i keep it. currently in JBOD, but easier to use the whole space in RAID (plus advantage in sequential performance which is my priority for like 99% of the data on those two drives). while installing, couldnt keep myself from doing some quick 4090 testing and oc 😅😋 so far ive been able to push the core up to 3180 Mhz and VRAM to around 24+ Gbps, absolute BEAST this gpu. ill need to do proper stress testing though to check stability. temps are in the mid 60s with hotspot hitting 70-74C. this is with my case cooling still pretty barebones, only have the three push fans on the AiO in the front and the three gpu fans, thats it 😋
