  1. ok kool, just finished with Macrium Reflect and worked like a charm! Ill keep this tool for the future 🙂 wait what? 4090 in laptop? err....right holy... ok ill only bite when we reach 9000 😄
  2. hahaha im glad u got something in hand buddy. but dont make the mistake of settling for "worse" hardware only to have it in hand a few days earlier. its gonna bite u in the butt later down the line. and true, the big trusty tech shops in germany are mostly online only or have like a single digit number of brick n mortar stores around. not really convenient. what would be the alternative, like Media Markt / Saturn? 😅😂 LOL thanks for instantly proving my point above @biting u in the butt 😄 in any case, u can just plug in the 8 pin and ull be fine, unless ure planning to do some super serious OCing. also, looking at the pin outs, u could theoretically plug in half of an 8 pin into the 4 pin mobo, just make sure the pins align with each other in terms of their physical shape (some are square, others have rounded corners). HOWEVER! make sure that ure using the proper motherboard connectors on the PSU side. sometimes they have different pin outs for PCIe (gpu) and EPS 12V (CPU).
  3. aigfht, Hyperion all set up now and had my first real gaming session last night! im an absolute fan of the Wolfenstein series, so I started off again with The New Order. unfortunately, that game is frame capped at max. 60 fps, any workarounds result in sped up physics, bleh. in any case, everything maxxed out the 4090 settled in around 15-20% with 100-150W LOL. gotta love it 😄 as for tuning / overclocking, havent spent too much time on it yet since case cooling is not yet up to snuff. missing tons of fans, so not worth it yet to do any testing. for now, i just set the 7950X to PBO/PBO2 with maxxed out limits and clocks, set a quick n dirty DDR5-6000 on the RAM and off we go! ill be sure to update this thread once i get all the additional cooling gear in and the proper testing / benching / tuning starts 😉
  4. oh good thinking! reminds me that i havent done any benching yet on the SSD. but in any case, still need to bench the whole friggin system lulz. Hyperion completely set up now though 😁 and had my first gaming session last night, playing through the newer Wolfenstein series once more, love those games! started off again with The New Order - unfortunately, that game is fps locked to max 60 fps and all workarounds entail sped up physics, bleh. on the flipside, the 4090 was running at like 15-20%, maxing out at 100-150W with everything cranked up to the max LOL
  5. from the info i gathered on the X3D tech, the 5800X3D was a beta run of sorts. they werent confident enough in the new tech to leave it fully unlocked, so they put a voltage limit in place to make sure it doesnt bite them in the butt with RMAs. so second gen X3D should be more mature, no more voltage limiting. however, what might still be in place is lower clocks at stock due to the added power consumption of the L3 cache layer. but thats no biggie, just remove the power limits, up the clocks and off u go (provided VRMs and cooling is up to snuff 🙂 )
  6. @Papusan I'm currently sorting out all the hardware to sell off after having finished setting up Hyperion. One of the things is to swap out the 850 Pro in my lady's machine with my previous 970 Pro. naturally, i dont wanna to a fresh install, since her system was only set up a few months ago. long story short: i wanna do some system disk cloning. used AOMEI Backupper twice, went through, but clone doesnt boot. i remembered u highly recommending Macrium Reflect so I got myself a copy and currently doing another clone with it. any experiences to share with regards to system cloning? hoping third time's the charm 🙂 her 1TB 850 Pro will then go up for sale. keep an eye out on the NBT marketplace everyone.
  7. haha i actually got the heatsink version of the 530 but tore it off due to the mobo heatsink. was quite tricky but worth it in the end 🙂
  8. LOL, with such cute lil love stories, who needs telenovelas anymore? 😄
  9. do you see the issue here? LOL as you said the CPUs keep coming way too fast hahaha. but yeah, i chose AM5 and invested in a monster mobo to at least have that settled for several years. RAM and CPUs will be frequent updates i gather!
  10. haha yep, i only recently found out myself. plus lucky enough to have an ASUS board to read it out 😛 my learning curve is currently quite steep, so still feeling my way around Ryzen Master, all the Bios options and Ryzen CPU and RAM OC in particular. been out of the desktop game for so long its a bit overwhelming to have SO MANY TUNING OPTIONS ready on hand! 😅
  11. i think thats a pretty safe bet to make. the measly bump in clocks that the 13900KS promises wont be enough to beat the X3D chips in gaming. however, AMD should be careful not to place similar barriers as with the 5800X3D, i.e. lower stock clocks and voltage/clock limits. we will see whats up soon enough though 🙂
  12. same for the 7950X, SP ratings ive seen so far are veeery tightly grouped together, total range of maybe around 5-6. turns out i got a middle of the pack SP116, so far ive seen it range from like 113 to 119, along those lines.
  13. cool man nice to hear theyre still around 🙂 and good to spread the word, get some vendors reps on board!
  14. depends on the fans and their settings i guess. but being a DTR enthusiast, you wouldnt want it any other way than JET ENGINE FULL BLAST 24/7 😄
  15. dude thats some serious hardware packed in such a small form factor! do you have a suitcase or similar for it to carry it around easily?
  16. keep us updated bud. in the meanwhile, i need to do some inventory and sort out all the stuff id like to sell off. expect a ton of hardware coming up in the NBT marketplace from me!
  17. wait, are those the same Donald & Zoltan that used to work over at HIDEvolution? No idea if theyre still around though, but back in the NBR day they were basically the EVGA for Clevos with tons of custom upgrades available (but also at premium pricing).
  18. if reliability is your first and foremost priority, then id wait for the shortly upcoming 990 Pro, u just cannot beat Samsung in terms of SSD reliability. only reason i went with the Firecuda this round was that it provides higher TBW and a bit higher performance than the 980 Pro did.
  19. exactly my point, also made by Jay: this round its SO close to one another, its difficult to make a decision. u cant just go by raw performance alone anymore, so everyone should be aware of their priorities, wants and needs befors making an informed decision 🙂 dont u love it? haha welcome to the RED side of life, brother. lets keep our small but fine Zen 4 corner alive here at NBT against the seemingly overwhelming Intel RPL front 😄 (all in good friendly competition, of course)
  20. never thought I'd see the day where uncle Fox is caught getting giddy about ocing and benching a "mainstream" gpu 😄 i love it! and for sure more economic than being on the bleeding edge all the time. brother Papu lead by example here haha ah yes ive heard about that faulty gasket thingy, im glad though that they reacted so fast and sent out replacement kits for free to customers. i also jumped on the contact frame bandwagon with Thermal Grizzly, but unfortunately my lady's machine has some kinda funky non-standard screws holding the ILM in place. so gotta wait until my LTT screwdriver comes incl all the bit packages 😄 until then, the contact frame prices should have surely come down a bit. wouldnt the fan still be under warranty? considering that they extended it to 6 years total. or does that not include the fans?
  21. just sad for all the potential customers hoping against all hope to have an MC around the corner 😄
  22. good way to keep costs low, since they can use their existing brick n mortar infrastructure. no need for separate warehouse and logistics to handle all the online stuff. same goes for RMA
