It’s been a long time coming…

The P750FM needs some work, I think the 1080 started dying on me after too many experiments lmao If an RTX 3080 somehow ends up in my orbit it may be time to look into how to get supplemental power in it -

Didnt cost much, and lets me have a little fun away from certification training without being too cumbersome. I only have 1TB Toshiba Pcie 3.0 x4 NVME, everything else is SATA based. Without a heatsink I was able to force it to 71c, going to see what it runs at with the heatsink installed, tonight when the cable should arrive. I wonder if I can make a pedestal for my ITX system lmao With these extension cables it would be rather easy to add an M.2 NVME to PCIE adapter like when I was mining. Could be useful for testing out various devices on my daily driver without having to remove my GPU Actually I do have an 4x M.2 SSD to PCIE adapter Hmm, well something else to try out during the weekend. -

Welcome back to the Forums! Still many of us quite active, you may find some of the overclockers in the Official Benchmark thread, seems to also be a generalish hangout thread as well :) -

Ok, i'll probably save that for this weekend as I want to make some progress on my professional development through the week. Im using the same 'meh' RAM I bought when I got the AM4 system, for daily driving 32GB has definitely been preferred for some time. That being said it'll be addition to my comparison thread :) Right now I think I have IF set to 1933, one more thing to add to the list is to try 1600:3200 then -

Tried to see if my RAM would hit that but no dice, like, at all. If there is interest I can try the 4400Mhz DDR4 kit from @Mr. Fox kit that he sold me some time ago. Im not sure why but some people on OCN were saying to increase the IF speed to 1900Mhz+ but from what I understand there is only one CCD so, no resource sharing. Would it be worth it to try 4000Mhz with 2000Mhz IF perhaps? Likely would be instable which is why I would guess that 3800/1900 tends to be the goal? -

Any reason not to go with Dell proper? Not high volume or just keeping it local? -

Any idea if they apply any tuning to the 5800X3D? Had to use the PBO2 Utility to apply the -30 offset to hit 4.450 otherwise its all over the place. Not really interested in the title perse, just curious. There are definitely games that just prefer the raw Mhz over L3 Cache -

He always treated me fairly even if I was a little too hot headed and tap danced on the line as a result when arguing with people on OCN. He runs Extremehw? -

2700X to 5800X3D upgrade! With a 10850K Cameo!

It doesnt help that the main designation for the mobile variants are just H/HX/X of mostly the same thing. The nomenclature of both vendors has been a bit of a wash lately. -

I was in much higher favor to AMD drivers before they updated to the GUI we all contend with now. Loaded quickly, and changes made for a specific title took place in the game in real time. Where as Nvidia control used to take almost 4 minutes to open at worst and changes I made to a game didnt take effect until a reboot of the title. Those two points were a huge pain as at the time I was heavily engaged into implementing mods for Mass Effect 2 and 3 (to lesser degree, but like Elder Scrolls modding for many). I think the GPU settings do take effect in real these days IIRC, but NCP is still sporadic. There would be times even on the 1080K platform where it would take 30-90 seconds just to open and other times instantly. With the 5800X3D on average its about 3-5 seconds, which is acceptable. -
Of course, its why I say "general speaking" though in this scenario I should have probably put more emphasis on that, since not all tasks weigh the same on its available resources.

Seems simple to me, if there are less services actively running, generally speaking, that leaves the CPU available to do what you want it to. No?

2700X to 5800X3D upgrade! With a 10850K Cameo!

https://ark.intel.com/content/www/us/en/ark/products/205904/intel-core-i910850k-processor-20m-cache-up-to-5-20-ghz.html Yep! @ryan I ran the benchmark for Age of Empires II and when I look to the other benchmark results it appears to be more focused on whether or not the system would bode well enough for multiplayer, not something to push the individual machine. The result on the 5800X3D/RTX3090 was 1286 Which only means its good enough for MP lol -

Removed and updated STTOR benchmarks as the 10850K submissions had incorrect Graphical settings. Benches re-ran and integrated Tomb Raider and Middle Earth: Shadow of War have been added to the review. Going to try and get a RT benchmark comparison next, for some reason the game kept crashing on the 5800X3D with RT enabled. -

Citations post added in the second post so that if people wanted they can view the screen shots. If anything is amiss I can easily rerun benchmarks for the 5800x3D and 10850k. If 2700x benches are needed that will probably wait until I have a bundle of tasks I can do as I will have ti swap the cpu -

Oh yeah for sure, if anyone from 10th Gen @5ghz and high speed memory was thinking about swapping to the 5800x3d it wouldn't make too much sense from a general standpoint. 5800x3d will be my daily driver so I can put the 10850k into quad fire / quad sli benching in the winter.
