  1. @tps3443 Please avoid double/triple posting, use the edit function to add additional content. I try to keep it lax in here but posting again after merging the last double post is a bit much lol
  2. Takin a stab here but it may be Company of Heroes RTS game
  3. I chuckled a little when I got the Latitude 5430's in recently. IIRC 2 P-cores and 8 E cores, 12 threads For some reason I read it as dual core quad threaded in my head. I went for more coffee after that.
  4. I want to see similar strides made in the mobile arena, was there anything of that nature during the presentation?
  5. Too rich for me, though I hope the 5800x3d drops in price, maybe in 6-8 months I'll look for one second hand.
  6. Well I have to hand it to evga, solid product from whomever they chose as their supplier. I think I figured out what was wrong. My server 1200w psu was not initialized so no power was being fed to the GPU's I hooked up, which is why it shorted. Like an idiot I tried to power it on again after the warning and that's when it gave up the ghost. What I'm really happy about though as compared to maybe 10 years ago, is it didn't take anything with it on its way out, or at least nothing I have tested so far. I replaced it with an evga 1300 g2, I was going to get the p2 but I read some issues of coil whine and the g2 could get here by today so it kind of just worked out that way. Also @Mr. Fox, thanks to your suggestion of the frame I don't think I can go back to standard cases anymore.
  7. Im sorry to hear that Brother @Mr. Fox. Its one of those scenarios wherein, they have your money and would rather end ties there than promoting a healthy relationship with you or really anyone that doesnt have a large audience to enforce societal expectations. I understand there view, just like anyone of us here, its just unfortunate that all parties also understand that its a crappy position to enforce. It looks like I shorted the PSU many of you recommended under the budget I had set some time back :( Time to get something new so I can figure out if the rest of the PC is good still. 1300w hopefully in by tomorrow or Saturday
  8. Yes exactly, I always had a bit of mixed feelings when it came to the scenario of RMA / Replacements from corporations. Its easy to hate on Companies because of the low hanging fruit (and often not learning from mistakes made) to which a lot of people feel justified in lying in order to get support, but on the other hand when you sell a product and also provide the means to void the warranty, while also not covering it, especially when it was covered for years. I get why people would, but most of us here also can tell the difference between having to game the system as opposed to someone seeking replacement for something obvious like induced physical
  9. I was not happy to see Intel basically pull a 180 on their warranties for CPU overclocking. Its a function they "provide" but also use as a scape goat for not covering the component. Circular zero sum logic at its finest.
  10. I heavily debated the msi f5 but couldn't agree to that keyboard.
  11. For now I see this as a novelty product but I do like that they have responded to criticism and are making attempts to rectify. These days companies tend to engage in the scenario of death of a thousand cuts or hope you just forget about a less than stellar showing in a number of scenarios. Looking forward to what they bring to the table.
  12. Well I previously used to run 350w on my 5700xt daily so I figured I would keep it to similar levels. This is just my gaming/general PC so I dont need anything over the top for its use case. I mean I also used to run 190w 1080 and 100w CPU on a 330w watt. Now if I decided to start seeking benchmarks then I would need to pull out the 1200w server PSU with a breakout board to not push the 550w well past its limits lol
  13. Ohhhh very interested to see how this pans out! My GTX 1080 is on its way out, mostly due to my taking things too far lol. Very interested to see how this comes about. For the VRAM, you could like get away with some mosfet heatsinks just to get it up and running for testing, but copper isnt cheap most of the time. Maybe aluminum would be cheaper?
  14. I spent some time on my desktop this evening. Swapped out the 3080 for the 3090 since I wont be mining as much on the 3090 (not very efficient) Also dialed in some tuning for the AM4 desktop. I was surprised to be able to get a stable 3800Mhz out of the DDR4 ram considering this sBIOS is (I believe) still on release version, at the very least I have never updated it. 09/04/2019 F5 version for my Aorus Pro WiFi (ITX). Was hoping to get 4000Mhz but I would likely need to update my sBIOS for that to happen? So far was able to get 4.3Ghz on the CPU, not sure if this chip has 4.4Ghz in it or not, maybe I will keep testing tomorrow. While I am sure many here wouldnt approve, I have tuned my 3090 for what ever I can get out of 1V, seems to like 2050Mhz on the core and +1250 on the memory. Reason being I am running all this on a 550w SFF PSU. Its a good unit, and its been letting me push the CPU while not complaining about the (initial) 400w from the GPU lol
  15. Interesting, I might look more into that for home use. I will also need to look into Linux for its Gadget Mode, perhaps as a long term solution might be in that aspect, not sure yet. For now it looks like the only "ready-made" solution would be the USB Synchronizers that I had linked above. The issue with them is they are not designed for use in a production environment, some of them had already started to break down physically. I will likely need to resolder them coming up here soon.
  16. I love this, thanks for sharing. Its got me thinking of what kind of layout and cooling I would go with. I didnt even know the teensy was a thing. I may look into that for work purposes
  17. With the news of students with ITT Technical Institute going under and the now loan forgiveness, to which I am also of their number, while digging up some documents I came across a short essay on laptops and cooling. In reality, I just wanted to use my laptop "modification" as an essay because I lack motivation otherwise. I chuckled at myself as half my citations come from NBR, circa 2012
  18. Later tonight, I will attempt to recreate locally on my system so I can better articulate it to my partner
  19. Very much reminds me of when SandyBridge first dropped, all the X58 elites were pissed that OCing was too simple and easy. I mean I appreciate overcoming a learning curve as much as the next guy/gal but that perspective didnt make much sense to me at the time.
  20. I sometimes make the same mistake as displayed here. The point being however, it reduces exposure to other threads especially in this section where often times the deals are time sensitive. Take it as a learning experience and move along :) Locked.
  21. Never really cared about San Andrea's, mostly played just GTAIII
  22. Ah yes that was a topic of discussion internally and then the busy season hit for both myself and Hiew.
  23. Can you provide a screenshot either here or via PM? I would like to see to what you are describing, thanks!
