Yeah, still too rich for my blood. Then you look at the 3090, still 1700+ -

Well maybe it will lower the value of the current 6900xt, which would be good for me lol Hey have you guys ever seen a GPU mount that is parallel to the motherboard for open benches? I'd like to elevate my GPU with a riser so that I can spread out my components while retaining enhanced cooling that my 92mm fans provide :) -

I think they are only available via San Ace and Delta, purely for servers if I had to guess. They do come in 120mm, but requires a little over 8 amps at full power, meant for servers which tends to utilize forced air solutions. There are a few videos on youtube though and it appears to be PWM controllable. If I can source a couple first I will obviously go that route instead. EDIT: From my understanding, the relative CFM for RPM's is not much different. Just that the static pressure is increased for the troubles. Since I am using an open bench now I am not limited by form factor. I would remove the center fan of my D15 and just leave it as a shroud. Not sure about the title but the description is correct. Headphone users lower your volume the pitch is jarringly high https://www.amazon.com/Delta-GFC1212DW-Violent-modified-exhaust/dp/B08QF6ZR85 AMD likely picked up on the high interest of the 5700xt and RX 570/580 and all the GPU flashing, no its hard to say they didnt. They patched the MPT and registry tweaks to push more power to their GPU's pretty quickly. Then vBIOS flashing was the way around that. Given how much attention Mining had the last couple of years they likely wanted to avoid high RMA rates and the stresses that come with that by locking everything down from the get go. Under normal circumstances I would be pissed, given how ignorant most miners are (myself included) vastly prematurely killing their GPU's due to lack of doing homework, I cant do anything but sit on the fence. What little is in English, the only progress they made for OCing was MPT but only worked some of the time. This is likely due to when that alternate version of the 6900 XT(H) came around and last I saw most efforts to push the cards were in vain, and had given up. No idea about any attempts for shunt modding though. -

Not sure why his default troubleshooting means is getting a second GPU, iGPU = problem solved. Furthermore, igors lab has all the tools needed for bricking and unbricking. I keep a spare Opitplex 990 just for such purposes. What is not addressed in the video is whether or not the vbios is write protected. You can still flash to it, and it will successfully "Complete" but the card will not post. My Gigabyte 5700 XT's are write protected. Which was a bummer but they did well and I just tune for efficiency instead. -
Feel free to discuss todays announcement, albeit not much to chew on. More to come!

Good Afternoon ladies and gents, This afternoon at approximately 12:10 PM CST for about 15 minutes, the forum was down. This was unplanned and currently awaiting explanation from our hosting solution as to why this issue occurred. Both myself and @Hiew are not pleased, when we find out more we will share what we can. This is not a reflection of the confidence we want our community to have with this forum, so if we dont see a satisfactory response and/or becomes a trend we will be looking at alternate solutions. Thank you all in advance and happy posting! -Chris

I couldnt ever find something that really made sense for me in the laptop scene to cover all bases like I wouldve liked. I ended up for a long while just using my upgraded Ranger at home and T440p for while I was away. I would still be very interested in a laptop that has a strong, overclockable CPU in a 13" chassis with a proper eGPU solution. For a while I thought that would be the y410p with the ultra bay eGPU adapter but I never followed up on that. -

This. This is the reason I love forums. Where I get to see that other people are just as messy as me and in the controlled chaos come out the other side with something truly unique. -

Well most people want something that slips into the backpack with relative ease for that sort of thing. I am not one of them, even when I was, I was stuffing 4 laptops into a bag before they started weighing carry on's for plane rides. My m4600 before I gave it away weight around 12-13 pounds. -

Nope! We have some ideas to increase attention to the forum but we have both been fairly busy, I will be making some progress this week though. Those who have made it, I assume was done via word of mouth via other forums for what mostly seems from people trying to figure out what happen to NBR. Always open to suggestions :) -

I just didnt want to lose our group that had been built up for well long before I ever came along. I didnt see TechTarget letting go of the db to the support staff and at that point in time I didnt see a concerted movement to give us a platform to hop off to, @Hiew had long been building forums here and there and has been a good friend of mine for about a decade now. I asked him if we can build something serviceable with the time frame we had left (about a week?), the rest is history. Be sure to check out the NBRchive as well, we backed up nearly everything save for Off Topic and WLSIB so if you are longing for some old official threads we have them here as well. -
It seems like we had another user who had an issue with his settings being cleared out, it hasnt been reported since so it may be that when we switched the servers something got lost in translation. Please do let us know if you continue having issues.

I would check in your laptops BIOS. DDR3 sodimm memory was painful to overclock, DDR4 became much easier but IIRC still quite manufacturer dependent. -

Nor did I say you were 🙂 Like mentioned before if there were actual violations they would've been corrected, no such actions have been taken because no corrections were needed. At this point it is purely a reminder for anyone to not take advantage of some elements and derail the current discussion. @johnksss everything thus far has been above board 🙂 and I have enjoyed reading your input. -

I'm not saying the topic is banned, just that it's not relevant here and that at any time can be taken to PM. I also have not engaged any moderation to this current discussion, which mean there hasn't been any violations. It is merely at this point a preemptive reminder as the markings for a potential argument looked like it could assemble. Please view this as setting rocks around the campfire and nothing more :) If there was legitimate violations I or @Custom90gt would've likely taken more direct action already, given that we also participate here often. @electrosoft Blue Bell butter crunch and cookies and cream are hands down the two best ice cream flavors bar none. I'm so glad you agree :) -

The issue of Gpu pricing is multi-faceted and unfortunately also involves governments to varying degrees. That being said please do make the attempt to keep politics off the topic list. If certain members wish to continue that discussion please take it to PM. Thanks everyone :) -
Yeah I figured it was just a mix but I needed to switch of synthwave mixes for a bit :)

For the MSI 1070 its needed, Zotac or any other MXM 3.0b standard layout its not needed. 8770w is a good machine, didnt tame the heat all that well initially, cant remember the rest of the thread all that well. https://www.nbrchive.net/xfa/hardware-components-and-aftermarket-upgrades.27/GTX 1070 on HP EliteBook 8770W DC - it works!/
