Congrats on your accomplishments and goals! I've been in a bad place mentally and have begun thinking its due to my work environment. In hindsight of course it is, in the moment it was easy to conclude that I dont measure up. I have been trying to hold out for the appropriate time but that is proving more difficult as time progresses.

I was basically conned into the 7 Pro really, was not happy about it but fighting it would've been cost prohibitive mentally. Pixel 6 kept losing WiFi connection at home and on occasion would lose cellular requiring a reboot to get it back. Reaching out to Google support, they asked me to factory reset the phone which coming from an IT background annoys me. No diagnostic and straight to the nuclear option, probably shouldnt have expected any better. They were running a promo to get 600 off of the list price of a Pixel device and I did have an upgrade available so I figured why not try a different model. Instead they only gave me 120 and I have the same issues as before on the 7 Pro. For my home router I can now more or less resolve this with DHCP reservation (or Static IP) but on the go I still have to restart the device. No idea if that issue is Pixel or ATT, or some combination of both to lay blame. Not really a pixel problem, more of a cell phone sales problem which is its own can of worms, but I digress. I do wish Custom ROMs didnt more or less die off :( Im thinking i'll try Samsung next time around as I can make good use of DEX which Google explicitly disables on their devices (Not Dex, but USB Alt mode's) in favor of chromecast.

Image replies are not allowed (posting just an image in response to a question) @kojack Posts merged and/or removed. @Etern4l No vendor is beyond reproach in terms of criticism, each have their own pro's and con's further to the point its also what makes discussing them interesting since each have their own selling points juxtaposed against the needs individual consumer is looking to satisfy.

Send me a PM with a parts/price and even if I cant pick it up immediately, my coworker might be interested and while you'll still have it then I can snag it if the timing works out like it had last time. -

Looks like I might need to get ahead and try and offload some stuff to be ready for when it drops lol I mean a 10850K @ 5.0 will do some heavy work for a game server / Headless VM Remote Gaming host but a 13900K? In fact might put that up on the forum to pay homage to your own excellent price and pay it forward to the next lucky owner. How much RAM are you figuring to ship with this kit? Open bench so E-ATX is no factor -
Not the correct thread to be making that sort of request.

Perhaps the additional charges didnt have strong enough evidence? no idea personally.

tell me the minimum size of a laptop with mxm-b support

Should work with what ever the chipset will permit, so it wouldnt surprise me if you saw some xeons out in the wild. Its just uncommon since thats not exactly what most people would intend to use them with. -

14" mxm never seen it before. Plenty of 15.6" options though -

As far as I know that doesn't exist. -

P150em, p150sm, p157sm-a, p775tm, p750zm for a general ballpark range, those are the oem model numbers, resellers will have their own badge on them as well. Zbook 15 but will require modification M15x but uses first gen i7, collectors tend to want these, not as much for practicality. There are more but this is just off the top of my head. Good luck! -
Some of my coworkers asked me to play Grim Dawn recently, doesnt half bad.

Is that the same fan the Der8auer released a video about? I like 2150rpm, seems to be a good compromise for my personal use case but I cant lie, been tempted with the 3000rpm for overclocking from time to time. Instead of metal fans I'd love to see a company take a shot at reverse blade high static pressure fans for system builders. Would probably be criticized for noise but considering I have about a dozen fans going in my room I dont really care all that much. -
If the P870DM is mpcie then thats usually resolved with an adapter. That being said I believe someone just installed WiFi7 into the P870 in the official thread

I also like to know, or at least have some inclination of what I am talking about. A lot of people come to me at work or people I mingle with online know that I am a system builder and tinker more than I should. As such, I generally get a lot of inquiries about building PC's so i'll recommend some things based on some criteria. Due to that, I like what I have been hearing about ARC, but have no experience with it. Would love to be able to recommend it for some people without the caveat of second hand knowledge. Might be a while though :( Too many projects and not enough human I/O lol -

I want one to play with. Dont need it for my main PC as I still have my 3090, and these are slower than the 5700XT's according to what I am reading but just interested in the product. -
Good Evening Ladies and Gents! This has become a growing interest for me personally as well as professionally and was curious to what and how others make their own approaches to the topic. For me, since mining has been mostly curtailed these days I have finally repurposed all the equipment that I had, along with some equipment not used for mining and a few additional purchases. As such my starting point is probably different from most which means the learning curve is a bit up there... Open Bench - Would like to setup a multi-head Gaming VM 10850K @ 5.0Ghz 16GB DDR4 @ 4000Mhz 256GB SSD 2x 5700XT's X520-DA2 10Gbps DAC SFP+ 6x HP T630's - HA? Container/Docker? 128GB SSD 16GB DDR4 Optiplex Micro 7050 - Remote End Point i7 7700 32GB DDR4 256GB SSD Connected via switch + WiFi + Console 2x Precision 7810's 2x Xeon E5 2650 12c/24t 128GB DDR4 2-3TB SSD (NVME/SATA) 4x1Gbps NIC X520-DA2 10Gbps DAC SFP+ K2200 Cisco 48p 1Gbps PoE, 4 SFP Its way more than I need right now, but I have been wanting to get a better understanding of how SCCM/MECM works which is its own huge undertaking, then my friend at work told me about vcenter/vsphere and that it looked like what I should be dabbling with (at the time was dabbling with proxmox). As such took a step back and rebuilt everything with VMware. Then later he gave me a Cisco switch, then I realized I still had the t630's and the 10850K system was sitting dormant after I wrapped up the comparison thread. Things are a little out of hand. Im curious what you guys may have up your sleeves?

Chess has defined rules that cant be broken. Life does not suffer the same restrictions You are also comparing one tool meant for a particular purpose, what I believe @Etern4l is saying is that the tool you are using as your example is ill-suited for the purpose when there are better out there already. Apples and Oranges, I believe.

I would never buy prebuilt, I do tend to buy used almost exclusively. That being said I havent bought a desktop in a while. No need. If you still have your laptop, you could also look at eGPU's provided you have an 11th gen processor, they are much better since TB controller is embedded in the CPU now so one of the issues cutting into efficiency was resolved under those scenarios. -

Me as well. Considering how stagnant the space had become after locking out many attributes from the user, given the timing Intel can swoop in and grab all that hype given that its appropriately priced. Still interested to see what AMD does with their strategy in terms of architecture as that was quite interesting as well, but no idea when that will be available to the public.
