Ah I shouldn't have bought 4090, oh well. eDP support as in bios AND backlight pins ? I mean companies advertised eDP for 4090 so we will see. I'll need a vBIOS dump to inspect if it's true. Above 4G decode is no issue now, I already am almost done implementing for M17xR3, will port over to other AWs in the future.

Fan control for M17x R1 ? With GTX 670MX SLI and C2Q X9300
ssj92 replied to benten1000's topic in Alienware 17 and M17x
Try looking for a older version of HWINfo -
The M15x is not cursed by an Insyde bios. You can use literally any 970M/980M even G-Sync Clevo models and it will work. i have a G-Sync Clevo 980M in my M15x, no mods needed besides INF.
-
This BIOS works for any M17xR3 regardless of configuration. Up to 980M is supported on LVDS PEG mode. Up to P5000 is supported on eDP (120hz) PEG mode (I fixed RTX 5000 as well but that will be in a future bios update). Up to RTX 5000 works in LVDS SG Mode (Optimus) but limited to DX11

If you are not overclocking a 920/940XM then 150w should be enough. for 240w, in order to use it at its full power, you need to remove the center pin. also m15x has a hard power limit for gpu so honestly, try 150w for now since it just works

Honestly if they can sign that vBIOS then they know someone in nVIDIA or they have a leaked tool. Which is good for us because we can make more vBIOS mods all modern 4090 have DP_A or DP_B for eDP. I checked like 15 vBIOS’
-
I edited all the legacy ROMs not just the first one. Either way nothing is guaranteed until we have a signed vBIOS. Only then can we do testing. I made 400 bios’ to make RTX 5000 working, it wasn’t done in one shot. if 4070 is working , 4090 should work too IF the vBIOS is properly signed. The complete eDP path was ported over.
-
I just got RTX 5000 working on my M17xR3 eDP PEG last night pure legacy and now I’m working on 4090 with built in bios backlight pin mod (no flex cable needed). you still doubt me? The 4090 vBIOS is correct
-
Okay let’s see if they can sign it
-
Yes I am sure. my 4090 had this ASUS bios. https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/257528/asus-rtx4090mobile-16384-221219

DP_B on that vbios so maybe this is the wrong vbios. 95.03.3E.00.16 I have that 4090, need to figure out x-bracket issue. Also it had a 4090 ASUS mobile ROM which caused 6 beeps.

RTX 4060 Mobile MXM X-Vsion Datasheet download
ssj92 replied to FrancoTecno's topic in Components & Upgrades
Interesting, idk why they state eDP on DP_D when the XVSION one is on DP_B. Also, this one is same design as XVSION. The one I bought is slightly different. Has 1 less large inductor. -
RTX 4060 Mobile MXM X-Vsion Datasheet download

Can you upload it? I'd like to take a look. Thanks -
I don't know who you are talking to , but might be useful to CC me on the email chain. The more information I have from them the easier it is to do mods

@Tetsu @DynamiteZerg @SuperMG I made a vBIOS mod for RTX 4090/4080 based on the 4070 MXM card. There's a 99% chance it won't work due to falcon but who knows?? Anyways simply put, 4070 has eDP on DP_D whereas 4080/4090 has eDP on DP_B. I simply modified the DCB table to match the 4070. WARNING: nvflashk will probably say invalid ROM. You will need to flash using SPI programmer. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Yw75BAlh79WpZQmAu23z7f1Dp37a6ctB/view?usp=sharing VBIOS Stock internal eDP 4070-style patched internal eDP 4080 X-Vision Pad B / connector 1 / AUX1-style path Pad D / connector 3 / AUX3-style path 4090 MX/ZRT Pad B / connector 1 / AUX1-style path Pad D / connector 3 / AUX3-style path working 4070 Pad D / connector 3 / AUX3-style path already correct

So theoretically I can remove my 1080p 144hz whole display assembly. Install this one and the eDP connector should reach/fit my RTX 2080? Will Tobii still work too? I am debating on ordering it. Always wanted 4K panel on my Area-51m. Seller hasn't replied yet
-
@amirhesamsadeghpour so if I buy this, will it be plug n play? I have rtx 2080 & 1080p 144hz panel now. https://www.ebay.com/itm/326926666398?_skw=alienware+area-51m+uhd+display+assembly&itmmeta=01KTPPGA2RV1JASF7A8ERH5K4T&hash=item4c1e590a9e:g:Y5AAAeSwG0VpTBVG&itmprp=enc%3AAQALAAAA4GfYFPkwiKCW4ZNSs2u11xBX%2FnTDjq89xY7NlsI8xxPkohENCfoiysCIV3ctwYjoGlqEhdxrEQP%2BUB2FqkgWhH5j4ktV5ypn53ROzXl4wpuNp8xS19UHrqeUU39UyWge2rKe0MmDq4PsIwWYE0CEmI4fxfNOoMtdT6cQpmoxHXhs0ot5HBxSScBA9%2BxBw2xyD6KCK7z%2BDirnCkK%2BA0qKw2qVPZcDw26DpSxe2P3OEFzfDAl1W4QySPpsAx6UcIMagvS0Koc78JFY2ALBBYm6cI4Jbx25e7Bh6g4ANAxYftOw|tkp%3ABk9SR-qhwdbVZw

You'll have to test to find out. If 970M boots in M15x as is, then no vbios change should be needed
-
eDP cable is for M17x/AW17 series, M18x is LVDS only. Yes M2000M + Tesla P6 should work in PEG but I haven't tested it. fastest card I have tested is RTX 5000 in slot 2 PEG with m2000m in slot 1.
-
A4500 was 8 beeps. no pc not even aw18 was able to boot it with stock vbios. flashing dell vbios allowed it to boot but code 43. 7 beeps doesn't sound right, you said it can go into bios, so can you see that?
-
Temps can get a little high in the 80s but 980M doesn't run full power in m15x anyways. pretty sure I need a vbios mod for that. 970m should be perfect
-
I'm running 980M (1617) Clevo model perfectly fine in M15x. M5000M should run cooler though. No mods needed except driver INF mod
