  1. Yes modified drivers is required for any laptop not using stock configuration. You can use nvcleaninstall to help with that
  2. Try this: https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-ag/drivers/driversdetails?driverid=5ycy7 My m14x has antenna for this already so maybe I will try a card for that one. this one is for the older part number but give it a try: https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us/drivers/driversdetails?driverid=4h54n
  3. I don't plan to spend the rest of my life modding bios so your cable will be needed for all systems except the ones I listed. Brightness control should work too on bios, I will see. This is all hypothetical. I will be quite surprised if they keep the x-bracket design.
  4. What driver have you tried?
  5. This confirms what I heard during my A4500 testing from Aetina. ONLY nVidia has access to the vBIOS modding. The companies ask nVidia for vbios mod and nvidia approve or deny it. This is why at the time they couln't make me a non above 4g decode vbios, nvidia didn't allow. It also confirms my theory. These are all frankenmodded cards, nothing is official except the PRO cards. They literally wait for a leaked vBIOS or some vBIOS that allows them to make the mxm card work. It also means they do NOT have someone who can sign it.
  6. If my experiment works, M17xR3/M17xR4/AW17 won't need any backlight cables. Can you cc me on the email chain? I want to ask them some stuff too. I think we will need a new x-bracket design. All the blackwell pro cards from Aetina, PNY, etc use a super wide x-bracket hole layout
  7. Haven't tried any OC on 3080 yet. Working on too many bios mods right now Actually I have been looking for the card for M17xR3/M18xR1. Not sure if the M17xR4 is the same card. I see part of the card on eBay but don't see the part that connects to the wireless display. One of my goals is to get that too. Looking at the model, it seems you bough the WiHD card for AW14/17/18 not the M17xR4 one. From my understanding, there is 3 "generations" of cards. SHould be backwards compatible though?
  8. They should provide me a sample card if they want the gpu to work on all AWs. 4090 doesn't post on M17xR3 yet even with 4g decoding enabled. I am still working on it. RTX 4000 now posts fine eDP 120hz PEG on m17xR3 in full legacy mode. Working on UEFI port right now. I have a couple dell precisions I can work on too for above 4g decode but those are lower priority for me right now. I have no Clevos right now. See if you can get the vBIOS and send to me so I can confirm they actually have eDP support this time.
  9. I decided not to do it. The seller told me, they tried doing r1 to r2 swap for 4k panel and r1 wouldn't boot anymore. I find that hard to believe since it's just a display panel and uses the same connector. Anyways I found a brand new in box area-51m r2 maxed out so I jumped on that.
  10. I have 3200Mhz 128GB Samsung DDR4. It's running at 2933Mhz now using default settings (only changed frequency in bios). Is there any way to try 3200mhz? I don't care about timings right now, just want to try 3200mhz and see if it works.
  11. Ah I shouldn't have bought 4090, oh well. eDP support as in bios AND backlight pins ? I mean companies advertised eDP for 4090 so we will see. I'll need a vBIOS dump to inspect if it's true. Above 4G decode is no issue now, I already am almost done implementing for M17xR3, will port over to other AWs in the future.
  12. Try looking for a older version of HWINfo
  13. The M15x is not cursed by an Insyde bios. You can use literally any 970M/980M even G-Sync Clevo models and it will work. i have a G-Sync Clevo 980M in my M15x, no mods needed besides INF.
  14. This BIOS works for any M17xR3 regardless of configuration. Up to 980M is supported on LVDS PEG mode. Up to P5000 is supported on eDP (120hz) PEG mode (I fixed RTX 5000 as well but that will be in a future bios update). Up to RTX 5000 works in LVDS SG Mode (Optimus) but limited to DX11
  15. If you are not overclocking a 920/940XM then 150w should be enough. for 240w, in order to use it at its full power, you need to remove the center pin. also m15x has a hard power limit for gpu so honestly, try 150w for now since it just works
  16. Honestly if they can sign that vBIOS then they know someone in nVIDIA or they have a leaked tool. Which is good for us because we can make more vBIOS mods all modern 4090 have DP_A or DP_B for eDP. I checked like 15 vBIOS’
  17. I edited all the legacy ROMs not just the first one. Either way nothing is guaranteed until we have a signed vBIOS. Only then can we do testing. I made 400 bios’ to make RTX 5000 working, it wasn’t done in one shot. if 4070 is working , 4090 should work too IF the vBIOS is properly signed. The complete eDP path was ported over.
  18. I just got RTX 5000 working on my M17xR3 eDP PEG last night pure legacy and now I’m working on 4090 with built in bios backlight pin mod (no flex cable needed). you still doubt me? The 4090 vBIOS is correct
  19. Okay let’s see if they can sign it
  20. Yes I am sure. my 4090 had this ASUS bios. https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/257528/asus-rtx4090mobile-16384-221219
  21. DP_B on that vbios so maybe this is the wrong vbios. 95.03.3E.00.16 I have that 4090, need to figure out x-bracket issue. Also it had a 4090 ASUS mobile ROM which caused 6 beeps.
  22. Interesting, idk why they state eDP on DP_D when the XVSION one is on DP_B. Also, this one is same design as XVSION. The one I bought is slightly different. Has 1 less large inductor.
  23. Can you upload it? I'd like to take a look. Thanks
  24. I don't know who you are talking to , but might be useful to CC me on the email chain. The more information I have from them the easier it is to do mods
