Probably not, but the slower and cheaper Zen 4 chips run equal hot and have same temp target. But most likely saved due they use their chips for gaming 🙂 Its for a reason many buy the cheaper Zen 4 chips. Cost savings. And this will apply for the cooling as well. And many don't like have water in their boxes. I just hope they will try avoid re-use the AMD Wright air cooler. Because that cooler isn't good enough for Zen 4 chips.

Yep, node shrinks can have their diminishing returns. To be able to compete then you'll need to take out all the performance from it and hence you get 95C in return. And no AIO or custom water in the world can change that facts (if you don't delidde, undervolt and cap the temp threshold below AMDs temp target). Otherwise 95C it will be. Gamers shouldn't be so worried and won't see 95C and hence less the need for an AC running home due AMDs new Cpu temp target. As a side note... Have seen people talk about degraded Ryzen silicon due overclocking, higher voltage paired with high temps on later gen Threadripper. iUnlock was one of them seeing the silicon degraded. But this will apply both for Intel and AMDs chips.

Yep. You gain wopping 69MHz clock speed jump for all cores going from an air cooler to the biggest AIO. A fantastic gain... Isn't it?🙂 But the biggest gain you get going with the huge AIO is lower noise. With the air cooler you need to run the fans at max speed to stop further clock drop in all cores load. And the cheapo AMD Wraith air coooler is a no go.

From Techpowerup sum up. Overall this is great news for Zen 4 buyers and owners: Just stop worrying about the cooler, buy anything reasonably decent, it doesn't have to be an AIO, and you'll be fine. Because 95°C is the new 65°C. And if you're spending $200 on an AIO, then you're going from 95°C to 95°C, LOOL. Exactly same max temp as if you go with the cheaper sub 40$ air coolers. Can't beat that... Or can you. At least you can save some money on your new desktop build if you go with cheap (or re-use old cooler) cooling. You can't do that with Intel. So the new 95°C target have it's advantage🙂 I can just imagine where Dell will cut costs for their new Ryzen Zen4 gaming desktop AMD Ryzen 9 7950X Cooling Requirements & Thermal Throttling

This New Linux Kernel Update Can Damage Your Laptop Display tomshardware.com According to a report by Phoronix, a new Linux kernel - version 5.19.12, is reportedly damaging laptop displays. This is one of the very few times we've ever seen a software update - not related to overclocking, have the power to damage a computer component physically. This issue effects all Intel-based notebooks where the integrated display is wired directly to the integrated graphics. This means all Nvidia Optimus laptops, and some potential Intel + Radeon combined laptops (though we effectively never see those) are at risk as well - since the iGP is driving the primary display even while the discrete GPU is active. The only exception to this, is if the notebook in question can disable Nvidia Optimus entirely or the internal display is not hooked up to an Intel integrated graphics solution at all. Such laptops are rare, but they do exist. Thankfully, this only applies with Intel graphics solutions, and means all AMD-based notebooks with AMD CPUs or APUs are not affected. The Fix Is Already Here Fortunately, the Linux community has already released a new kernel that reverts all the problematic issues found in the graphics driver back to what they were in previous kernel updates. This new kernel is known as 5.19.13, and has already been released for everyone to use. However, chances are that most users will have to wait for their respected Linux distros to roll out the kernel update before the mainstream users get a chance to use it. I'm sure there is some here that remember the black screen issues a few years ago with windows machines (Alienware and Clevo's). Not a fun experience. Now they are at risk with Linux as well. Not so sure it will be as easy this time to fix destroyed displays. So take your precautions before it's too late. It seems Linux follow another well known OS..... -
Bloat paired with Windows Defender = Mess. Both is unwanted. High CPU load, fan on full speed; Windows Defender struggles with Dell SupportAssist Posted on 2022-10-03 by guenni Brief information, which I'll cover in this post. Last week a tweet came to my attention in which a Microsoft MVP complained that the fan on his Windows system was running at full speed. A quick look showed that Microsoft Defender was really pulling CPU power on the machine. Could possibly affect one or the other user from the readership. Because the culprits: Windows Defender and Dell SupportAssist might well be in use more often.

If they run colder be you sure the OEM will either shrink the chassis or save money on the cooling. I saw for a few days ago a video with Travis North (Dell’s thermal engineer) and Intel’s engineering team, said over capacity coolers is wasted money if you can run HW at specs with less powerful cooling. He said etc processors is meant to run at tj-max. 24/7. Because of TAU the boost won’t last forever. Boost clock is for burst loads. Long term load is base clock speed (lower TDP).

More proprietary filthy similar what Dell is known to offer gamer kids is coming to all brands of HW. When is enough enough? From an older Wccftech article - May 24, 2022.... "Such a motherboard design will be useless in existing PC cases which means that Project Zero is going to extend beyond just a cool motherboard design and MSI will offer its own gaming PC case as a part of the DIY Kit. The motherboard with its all-black aesthetics really does more just to the Stealth naming used by Gigabyte & AORUS for their own custom kit". Now a new article pop up about the same filthy but with ASUS in mind..... ASUS DIY-APE Revolution concept improves cable management for Intel and AMD PC motherboards | Oct 1, 2022, ASUS unleashes new DIY-APE Revolution project to improve PC cable management for Intel and AMD motherboards Gigabyte has made its attempt at cable management with its Stealth program while MSI teased its Project Zero, bearing a similar concept of a clutter-free chassis. The company utilizes a combination of graphics cards, additional components, and the motherboard to assist in improving and limiting cord clutter. Gigabyte's design is proprietary to them, so other companies have attempted to improve cable management by their means. ASUS's newest design is more of a collaboration than what we have seen before. Companies such as LIAN LI, SAMA, CoolerMaster, Phanteks, Cougar, and Jonsbo are working with ASUS to create the new DIY-APE Revolution design, which is anticipated to be available for Intel H610, B660, and B760 motherboard compatibilities. However, the company has also talked about working with AMD and its motherboard lines. Of course the chassis makers want to be with them into this journey. I think the direction goes to slimmer and smaller, pretty kute Chassis. 90% + of all chassis sold will be more as Dell's high end gaming flagship Junk. -

"Nvidia has said that next-gen Lovelace GPUs will be capable of doubling up rasterization performance compared to Ampere graphics cards". Haven't nvidia said the same before?🙂 NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 Benchmark Leak Shows A 60 Percent Gain Over RTX 3090 Ti It's the first of October, which means there's only 11 days left before you can buy your own GeForce RTX 4090—assuming your pockets are deep enough, anyway. We have already seen that AMD struggle sell out the new Ryzen AM5 platform due awful value (the full package is more than the Ryzen 7000 chips). The Chip production falls due bad times. And Nvidia still hope that people will pay more than ever for new graphics cards. Also overprice for castrated cards as 4080@12GB that should be labeled the 3070 replacement. Not so sure nvidia will manage to make huge profits on greed this time, if AMD and Intel play their cards well. I don't think people is ready to pay crypto prices for new graphics cards after two years in the dark (due miners, gredy retail, lack of cards and scalpers). We'll see. Maybe Nvidia are able to sell out the first batch cards, but the cards will be in sales 2 years forwards. Maybe nvidia's ceo Jensen have seen the paint on the wall? Depending on the game and if you use new modern features. But new doesn't mean 100% performance uplift ofer it's predecessor. Nvidia never offer this. Neither do AMD or intel. It's called..... -
Yep. Dell was one of the first that offered crippling of Intel processors... Google TCC Offset. You can also castate Intel chips. If you need to cripple the Cpu... Maybe buy an different lower end SKU. Oh'nooo. Even the weaker lower core Zen 4 chips run 95C, HaHa 🙂 Gone is the days you could use an mid range air-cooler for modern desktop processors. I have never seen Nvidia offer 100% performance uplift from one gen to the next for mobile graphics. And gone is the days with same nvidia die for desktops and Jokebooks. Nvidia even offer 4080 in two different die's for desktop cards as etc 4080 nowadays. One of them is castrated and should be a differnt lower end SKU. -

nvidia screwed up the 4000 series graphics with fake 4080 to increase profits. Should be 4070. Imagine how the OEM and Nvidia will screw up for the laptop-Jockeys? And maybe Intel will follow up and make it a complete disaser. This if you go with next gen Jokebooks..... Look from 11:20 Zen 4 sell horrible. Maybe the need for the full package is too much to swallow? Next on the list who will have horrible sales... Nvidia? Yep, hope so. People have less money nowadys and this will of course stop you from spending all too much on the most expensive tech. And the "new normal from AMD" as 95C wasn't very tempting. Be at the mercy of Nvidia just mean you all will be screwed. Maybe they will let 3000 series have it but at what costs? It's Nvidia that will dictate how it will perform. And they are the master of tuning drivers for all their "older" graphics cards. At least if we talk about features meant for newest cards. Could be they make it halfway works 🙂 This way, maybe you finaly see that newest gen cards is what you want. More as ads for the new, HaHa Nvidia's tone-deaf RTX 40-series pricing is a golden opportunity for AMD and Intel LOOL. nvidia is afraid the new power connector and high power consumption will push buyers over on the Red side's new gen graphics cards (Most likely very comparable graphics cards vs Nvidia 4000 series and at cheaper price). I have no problem with that 🙂 Newegg Listings of Custom RTX 4090 Graphics Cards Indicate Pricing-Sanity Slowly Returning Techpowerup.com | Today As with the recent pre-launch listing of 13th Gen Core desktop processors, US retailer Newegg put out listings of various custom-design NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 "Ada" graphics cards, revealing their launch prices. These prices appear close enough to the $1,599 baseline price set by NVIDIA, to conclude that pricing sanity is slowly returning to the graphics card market. A lot will however depend on how the market behaves on October 12, when the RTX 4090 goes on sale; particularly whether scalpers vaporize inventory within minutes. Even if they did, scalpers would only see demand from the niche that actually wants to spend north of $1,600 on a graphics card, there are no crypto-currency miners lining up to buy graphics cards. Especially not after the Ethereum merge. The ASUS ROG Strix O24G is the most expensive card of the lot, priced at $1,999, or a $400 premium. Nvidia’s tone-deaf RTX 40-series pricing is a golden opportunity for AMD and Intel Nvidia's RTX 40-series cards come with a massive sticker shock, and a chance for its competitors to strike back hard. -
