  1. Still too much for old cards. But closer and closer your goal 🙂 AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT Graphics Cards Dip Below $700 tomshardware.com | Today Isn't Plum Bonito ? Or the cheaper HotPink Bonefish more tempting?
  2. Here's a nice pict of the small disgusting GPU heatsink. No pipes and only a small thin block of Alu. Aka no LM for this GPU. The cooling design for this 650 Ti is on level with what DELL's Thermal Engineering Technologist Travis North would prefer 😄Even the component choices is rigth out from Dell's tech bible, LOOL Edit. First bench out from GTX 650 Ti..... https://hwbot.org/submission/5059844_papusan_aquamark_geforce_gtx_650_ti_495197_marks?recalculate=true New fresh thermal paste didn't help much. Improved a bit only for idle clocks. I expect the wimpy thin small Alu heatsink block can't handle more heat tranfair from the Gpu die under full load. Aka the cooling is already fully saturated with heat and the fans can't remove it fast enouh from the block in full load. Yep, Dell cooling design at it worst. Cheapo and flawed.
  3. Buying a used mining GPU rewards the people who ruined PC gaming pcworld.com Yep, but if you buy new cards you rewards Nvidia and it's partners as AIB and reatail shops. This is a choice between pest and Cholera. But if all people out there buy used cards, this will help to stop nvidia and its partners to max out profits. In th end if they can't sell all cards as hoped then we will see prices on new cards below MSRP. And they know whom bought up all the 3000 series cards with vram bigger than 4GB. Hence they tried offer cheapo card from old gens to the gamers that couldn't get the new Ampere cards. A rumored drop around 50% in sales will hurt them where it feels best. Let e'm all bleed money..... Both on 3000 and 4000 series cards. Nvidia allegedly directly helping AIBs get rid of Ampere stock in exchange for "big pre-purchases" of RTX 40 series boards Btw. New pict of the new old baby (GTX 650Ti@2GB). A real baby card. Only my Nvidia GT 705 OEM is smaller than this black beauty. And as usual... No money to Nvidia. All black as usual bro @electrosoft 🙂 Yep even with a nice black PCB. Yep, never repasted. I wonder what the temps will be with 10 years old thermal paste. The alu cooler is one of the smallest I have seen and even worse designed than anything you get in new modern Jokebooks. Edit. The new old baby card in his new home for temp testing (10 years old paste).
  4. GPU Shipments May Drop by 50%, Nvidia Braces for Long Winter Tomshardware.com | Yesterday Nvidia also expects to take a big hit, thanks to both the post-pandemic drop in demand and the major cryptocurrency crash earlier this year. Taiwanese graphics card suppliers estimate their 2022 shipments will fall by between 40 - 50%, and sources cited by Digitimes say this will cause Nvidia's revenue to fall "at a pace beyond imagination." Digitimes should be one of the most reliable sources regarding news from tech industri. Nvidia.................... AMD will steal more sales from Intel and Nvidia... They ride two horses (Cpu's/Gpu's). Hence they won't race down the drain in a pace as Nvidia and Intel. Welcome to reality.
  5. But isn't it cute? Prosumers/corporate that need 100% security for every day tasks needs to diasable SMT technology (HT) on all later Ryzen chips. I remember when the fanboys on the Red side bashed Intel for similar vulnerability flaws. And said this would never happen if you bought newer AMD chips due they was properly engineered, LOOL SQUIP games: A serious AMD Ryzen flaw can only be fixed by slowing the CPU down "So in order to mitigate the vulnerability, SMT technology needs to be disabled, and that means a significant blow to the chip’s performance" New vulnerability in AMD Ryzen CPUs could seriously jeopardize performance Yep...............
  6. Same hash = Same file. Of course this needed file should be in this thread as well 🙂
  7. Right on time before Intel and AMD release new processors. It's amazing how they can find new flaws at correct time. New security patches will always arrive right before new HW will be released. Like clockwork. Security vulnerabilities found in Intel and AMD processors by Martin Brinkmann on Aug 10, 2022 in Security - Last Update: Aug 10, 2022 - 0 Security researchers have discovered vulnerabilities in Intel and AMD processors that may lead to information disclosure. Most Intel 10th, 11th and 12th generation processors are affected by a new vulnerability that the Most Intel 10th, 11th and 12th generation processors are affected by a new vulnerability that the researchers have named ÆPIC Leak. The vulnerability is an architectural bug according to the researchers, which sets it apart from Spectre and Meltdown vulnerabilities that have haunted Intel and AMD in the past years. AMD Zen 2 and 3 processors are affected by a security vulnerability that the researches named SQUID. It is a side channel attack that is targeting CPU schedulers. New Vulnerability Affects All AMD Zen CPUs: Threading May Need to Be Disabled tomshardware.com
  8. Grabbed 16th place and was rewarded with 1 extra boint for 980Ti in GPUi 3.2 - 1B 🙂 Running 1708 on the Gpu cores. When I have the time I will try out a few other drivers to see how far this will go. https://hwbot.org/submission/5058225_papusan_gpupi___1b_geforce_gtx_980_ti_16sec_687ms
  9. Because automatic mode would create a mess for the users. Better have a choice. Test what fits your pc and detemine what you want. Unisex systems (all should be and have the same) will never work. Should I Use Windows Game Mode for Gaming Or Turn It Off?
  10. Not bad. 1706 on the cores in GPUI 3.2 - 1B. Or near 500MHz overclock above a stock Nvidia 980 Ti Founders edition🙂 And this with an air cooler. https://hwbot.org/submission/5057764_papusan_gpupi_v3.3___1b_geforce_gtx_980_ti_13sec_410ms https://hwbot.org/submission/5057763_papusan_gpupi___1b_geforce_gtx_980_ti_16sec_872ms Mostly LN2 and a few chilled cards above. So ok'is for an GPU with an stock air cooler. I know I can get the 16th place in GPUI 3.2 - 1B with this Zotac card. I lost that score/place when the last benchmark run was ready to be finalized. I guess even 15th place is possible 🙂 Btw. Anyone heard from bro @Rage Set? Long time and none to see. Hope all is well with him.
  11. The beauty with Windows 11. You never know what come in the update patches from Redmond. Sometimes it's adviced to update. At least if you was dumb enough to install previous patches, LOOL @Mr. Fox @Ashtrix Not everyday you should jump on previeew Updates guinea Pig updates from Microsoft. Microsoft has warned today that Windows devices with the newest supported processors are susceptible to "data damage" on Windows 11 and Windows Server 2022. You'll need to install June 23 preview update (Windows 11, Windows Server 2022) or the July 12 security update (Windows 11, Windows Server 2022) for their OS version as a workaround. Windows devices with newest CPUs are susceptible to data damage Microsoft has warned today that Windows devices with the newest supported processors are susceptible to "data damage" on Windows 11 and Windows Server 2022. And newer has to be better. Always. Sure. But where is the huge performance uplift over older OS and the increased quality? Down the drain at Redmond HQ? 🙃 Windows 11 is all about quality, says Panos Panay How Microsoft is making Windows 11 run faster than Windows 10 Windows 11 will be the first version of Windows developed under the leadership of Panos Panay. Maybe the man need some help?
  12. Great news for those who wait for 4000 series graphics cards or want to buy the older 3000 series. Maybe they also have to adjust price expectations for the higher end 4000 cards? There is no miners this time that can help them keep prices well above MSRP. And too high MSRP prices over normal on next gen high end will only lower the sales of those type cards. And the bird who told Jay that the prices won't go down any further knew all this would happen. I hope we finally will see loads of used 3000 cards flooding the web coming weeks. This will certainly help Nvidia to see the light 🙂 NEWS 2022-08-08 15:05 NVIDIA announces weaker Q2 gaming GPU sales, now working with channel partners to adjust prices Weaker sales are likely the results of cryptocurrency crash and post-COVID market with lower demand of PC hardware. Nice, and Nvidia said the miners was in minority buying their ampere graphics cards.
  13. They all need to cut costs to keep up profits if less people buy new things due bad times forwards. Here home... 4.5% increase in salery but the prices on food, electricity, fuel etc increase more than twice. Aka you will have less money left for buying new things you may or may not need. Or is forced to buy cheaper due your personal economy is weakened. And the bad times will last a long time. The weakened economy won't be fixed over night. AMD, Intel, Nvidia Slow Hirings as Economy Falters
  14. EVGA ain't as honnest as you think. And Jay should be very careful what he post in media. Not that he is the one to blame for spreading the news, but hi took out the cat from the bag. The one who was the bird who told him... None know. But it smells bad. EVGA tried hard as they could to hide that they sold mining equipments to the miners. And be you sure... Loads of cards also went to miners outside the normal sales channels. Same as all the other of Nvidia's AIB partners (Msi, Asus, Gigabyte etc). Even Nvidia themself sold loads of Ampere cards directly to miners. They are all guilty for scummy business. Evga is only one of many companies with same business philosophy. Profits over bodyes Max profits over honesty. https://www.tomshardware.com/news/evga-1300-m1-mining-psu Of course, EVGA isn't being loud about the launch -- there was no announcement or press release. Rather, the unit just appeared on NewEgg(opens in new tab), seemingly out of nowhere, but I guess this is logical: companies that come out with mining hardware aren't exactly popular right now. The PSU also isn't listed on EVGA's website either.
  15. It’s about luck, using the better firmware, MB and never give up 🙂 https://www.itproportal.com/2013/10/21/overclocking-haswell-processors-how-and-when-to-do-it/ Edit. Forgot to say… Great job with the old 🙂 https://hwbot.org/submission/5056325_papusan_3dmark06_geforce_gtx_980_ti_76701_marks Still not reached 1000$. All 3090 Ti should reach that price point. The lower end cards should be priced even lower. NVIDIA RTX 3090 Ti getting even cheaper https://videocardz.com/newz/evga-geforce-rtx-3090-ti-ftw3-drops-to-1149-usd-it-is-now-1000-usd-cheaper
  16. Bro Fox. Are you ready to jump on your second round of Ryzen chips?🙃 Maybe pair it with the new Intel Arch graphics for the ultimate setup/build. Here's a short write up for you. You have a Chiller so maybe you'll be able to squize out more than AMD have been able to do from Ryzen 7000 series processors. I just hop you won't run into the normal teeth issues from new chipset, USB, I/O, Pcie 5 and DDR5. Not fun if AMD can't fix it before they are ready with 8000 series Ryzen chips (5000 series Ryzen platform, I look at you). And be prepared to struggle a bit making Intel's new graphics baby able to offer what Intel try to offerit's customers... Fantastic drivers, software and that you forwards can enjoy your older games. Always fun with new tech. Tinkering with new HW is half the fun. Isn't it? 🙂 Leak Claims AMD Zen 4 Ryzen 7000 CPUs May Offer Limited Overclocking Potential AMD's next-generation Ryzen processors are on the way, and the leaks we've seen so far are super promising. The chips perform well in single-threaded benchmarks, and that translates to solid GPU performance too. We haven't seen a leaked multi-threaded benchmark of the top-end 16-core part, but AMD's own demo of same was quite impressive. Here's a leak that is not so promising: supposedly, AMD will be locking down voltage control on its Ryzen 7000-famiily processors such that users won't be able to overvolt. Overvolting is a key part of overclocking, as it allows the processor to better maintain clock rate stability, albeit at the cost of extra power (and thus heat). But be aware this info come from WCCFTECH so take it with however many grains of salt. AMD have most likly squized out most of the OC headroom, so maybe you won't gain much with unlocked voltage control on custom water/AIO. The trend with new modern HW continue also from Intel. And this new tech ain't for you if you enjoy play older games. As well forget a nice results streaming your old games with the new Intel graphics cards (top livestreaming performance won't make your old games fly on your new shiny Intel cards). One thing for sure.... Bro @Ashtrix who enjoy older games won't touch this mess even with a 10 foot pole... Are Intel Arc graphics cards dead on arrival? Techspot.com Aug 04, 2022 - The launch seems to be lurching from bad to worse Intel's Latest Video Details Performance Of Older Game APIs On Arc Graphics Early reviews of the Intel Arc graphics cards have not been bursting with praise. We only have reputable third-party reviews of the entry level Arc A380 thus far, but even with suitably lowered expectations, no one is recommending these Intel discrete GPUs for general use.
  17. Taste on this one bro Fox. Ebay added full tax on my older GPU I bought. +25% to please the Norwegian government. When I got the package here home the post office wanted money for the tax handling (20$) and then added a new 25% tax on everything. Even on top of shipping. I is now forced to talk with Ebay to get back the tax money I paid them beforehand for the purchase. The Norwegian government washing their hands and push me to write a email to Ebay support to get my tax money back. They won't help even if they did it wrong. The package was even market with already paid TAX. They did it this way to be sure I paid the tax handling before I could have the package. They wanted all tax on top of all costs. Tax on everything a second time is their way to do it. Yep, Norway is a nice country to stay/live in if you want buy something (new or used) they can't offer here in the stores. NAZI tax schemes +++++
  18. Yep. A huge cold plate intended for big Threadripper chips isn't a good choice for the small and wimpy mainstream chips. The hot spot area on intel chips is different. The die is barely 200 mm2 for the new gen hybrid chips with all those baby cores. And the power hungry P-cores don't take much space on the silicon. This type cooler are mainly designed around bigger chips with Amd's multi chiplet (glued on die's) design. There is only one solution for Intel chips... Custom water cooling, a good AIO or a Water chiller in combination with already mentioned liquid cooling setup... And the average Joe wanting an air cooler they won't go for such a big box cooler design. The design simply won't match what they want. They want Slim, and sleek sexy designed air cooler and with a lots of bling bling around the cooler fans (so called Argb/RGB garbage). So what you have left for this type cooler is TR chips or a possilbe new work station chips from Intel (HEDT is dead so scrap that cooler choice for consumers as performance enhusiasts or the average Joe).
  19. Long time since I saw this video. I think the design is for TR chips and not so very efficient for smaller die as Intel chips. See above. I still think this isn’t a great cooler for Intel chips. The design of the cold plate isn’t optimized for small chips.
  20. I have read about this air cooler long time ago. Bad for Intel chips. Good for the bigger TR chips. Stay away if you have an Intel chips. Edit. Enjoy and forget to use LM. Alu bottom on this cooler. What a failure. And Der8auer wasn't very happy with the cooling on Intel chips.
  21. Titus just can't accept windows Defender, LOOL
  22. Here's more news/info about the new beauty from Intel. Steve Burke explains that the big mistake lies in Intel trying to meet AMD and Nvidia on all fronts and filling the driver package with functionality that doesn't work at all. He believes that the company should back off, apologize and explain that initially they only offer the simplest, i.e. the functions that are not a "buggy mess". Worst We've Tested: Broken Intel Arc GPU Drivers........
  23. More benches from the new "old" https://hwbot.org/submission/5053271_papusan_3dmark___sky_diver_geforce_gtx_980_ti_67043_marks?recalculate=true https://hwbot.org/submission/5053207_papusan_3dmark11___entry_geforce_gtx_980_ti_44275_marks https://hwbot.org/submission/5053269_papusan_3dmark11___performance_geforce_gtx_980_ti_30246_marks https://hwbot.org/submission/5053262_papusan_3dmark11___extreme_geforce_gtx_980_ti_10875_marks https://hwbot.org/submission/5053466_papusan_3dmark___time_spy_(gpu)_geforce_gtx_760_(256bit)_2036_marks
  24. https://videocardz.com/newz/full-nvidia-rtx-40-ad104-gpu-with-7680-cores-and-400w-tdp-to-match-rtx-3090-ti-in-performance If you can't wait then don't pay above 1000$ for a 2 years old gen card. And 3090 Ti should never have been sold for more than 1399,99$ at launch day. RTX 2080 Ti was $1,200 at release and dropped to $700 with release of 3080 (this before the mining and scalpers fest). And with Nvidia's milking of the better 3090 die to make an 3090 Ti I mean the price drop has to be from 3090 level MSRP (New from the store doesn't make it more appealing regarding price value - still 2 years old GPU arch - used or brand new old tech - it’s the same). Valid before miners /scalping took over the GPU market https://www.techspot.com/article/2107-your-graphics-card-worth/ (overpriced old gen graphics cards = Joke). Nvidia's price setting for their graphics cards is awful, but what Intel offers is not much better. And here is a new Joke. But from Intel..... Scathing report claims Intel may cancel Arc GPUs for gaming altogether as Alchemist rumored to have a "fundamental hardware flaw" Intel may cancel Arc for gaming if the newest report from Moore’s Law is Dead is true. The leaker claims to have gotten access to internal slides as well as inside information that paint a picture of consistently missed deadlines ... Still a damn bad deal for a near 2 years old card (Yep, the way 3090 should have been released). I buy used cards, but not at this pervers price level.
  25. Yep. And more fans will be added for the custom lop. I use mostly 3000 rpm high pressure fans. The chassis is the Corsair 1000D. Bigger is better (at least for my usage).
