A nice improvement. 20C lower temps is great. I expect even with an PCIE 4.0 drive you won't have such problems anymore now 🙂 Probably more in the tank with an custom cooling. Luumi said above 80C and Alder lake become flaky. https://hwbot.org/submission/4951309_papusan_cinebench___r23_multi_core_with_benchmate_core_i9_12900k_31949_cb?recalculate=true -

Nice scores bro Fox. Regarding the PCH temps. You said thei went down 6°C with swapping the drive but what reduction did you get with the heatsink? And what PCH temp do you have in idle and when running ssd benchmarks? ATTO Disk Benchmark -

Be happy you don't have an 1080P screen. A hell lot worse. Almost impossible see much of the benchmark rendered screen. And on top... They have created an very ugly Asus UI for Asus boards to make it fullfilled. Not sure why but probaly a paid work. Bigger is better... Isn't it?😀 What did you expect?😀 The bot server is handled by an wimpy 2 core's cpu. The trend continue bro Fox. Always downwards. Same for Intel and Amd. Expect an ugly patch coming from Intel in the near future. https://www.tomshardware.com/news/amd-cpus-see-less-than-10-performance-drop-from-revised-spectre-v2-mitigations And I expect a new one then afterwards to fix another or new (Not published) security vulnerability. A never ending story due sloopy Cpu design. -

Please post pict also for TPL. And use higher resolution pict. Too small for my old eyes. Try adaptive voltage. Go from default and add offset if needed when you push clocks. Start with core ratio. You can work with cashe afterwards once you get some good results from the cores. Core is always king. High Cashe ratio will give a performance boost if you run fast/faster ram sticks. Not so much with slow ram. You have voltage high enough for ++4.8GHz 🙂 -
I see we lack a thread for Security news in the foirum. Hence I put up this new thread "All about security and anti-virus software". TP-Link Said to be Sharing Customers Browsing Data with Third Party Techpowerup.com | March 12, 2022 These days, routers are quite complex devices that are doing much more than just routing data and are often the main security device on a home network. As such, we've seen a surge in third party services such as Asus' AIProtection that runs software from TrendMicro and Netgear Armor in cooperation with Bitdefender. Chinese TP-Link is likewise offering similar services, some in partnership with TrendMicro and some with Avira. It now appears that TP-Link's HomeCare service—that the company is offering in partnership with Avira—is sending data to Avira even when disabled in the UI, based on a thread over at Reddit. The standard Avira features are meant to offer protection against malicious content, network intrusions and even against infected devices on the network that are said to be quarantined from other devices on the network. It also incorporates some basic parental control features, such as automatic content filtering and time controls. However, in this case, the issue isn't the functionality itself, but the fact that there apparently is no way to turn off the HomeCare feature, since even when seemingly disabled in the UI of the affected routers, it sends data to Avira. It seems to be a fairly large amount of data being sent as well, with the initial poster claiming over 80,000 requests in a 24 hour period. According to a review of a TP-Link product over on XDA-Developers from May last year, TP-Link said that they were working on a firmware update that would allow the Avira service to be turned off permanently.

Untick C1E and tick the Speed Shift box and change the value to 0. As well untick the box with more Data for normal use. What Cashe ratio do you put? And what clock speed do you see right after boot up without TS enabled? And yep, 4.5GHz should be enough for +1000 in Cinebench R15 🙂 Btw. The laptop jockey's will be heavily screwed when we will see 4000 series graphics pop up. It will be darn disgusting to see an 4080 at 85W TDP in tomorrows Apple designed laptops: Here's bro @Mr. Fox reaction when he see mobile 4080 graphics in laptops erly spring 2023 The weakest 4080 mobile graphics will get an TDP near 5.3 times lower than the similar desktop cards. But the laptop gamers will be happy regardless level of crippled mobile graphics cards vs. desktop cards. Design over functionality will always be the prefered choice. And Nvidia and the OEM will deliver in loads. NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090-class GPU with 600W TGP has reportedly been confirmed https://videocardz.com/newz/nvidia-geforce-rtx-4090-class-gpu-with-600w-tgp-has-reportedly-been-confirmed --------------------------------------------------------------------------- The data harvest from the users systems seems to be out of control... Maybe Intel also could help AMD fix their never ending HW problems? 😀 Intel Finds Bug in AMD's Spectre Mitigation, AMD Issues Fix News of a fresh Spectre BHB vulnerability that only impacts Intel and Arm processors emerged this week, but Intel's research around these new attack vectors unearthed another issue: One of the patches that AMD has used to fix the Spectre vulnerabilities has been broken since 2018. Intel's security team, STORM, found the issue with AMD's mitigation. In response, AMD has issued a security bulletin and updated its guidance to recommend using an alternative method to mitigate the Spectre vulnerabilities, thus repairing the issue anew. -

The beauty lies in the details. Or rather say that the performance slide down the toilet. When shall Intel stop take short ways to increase the performance then take it back it few months later? How much time do you think they spend on new security patches/firmware updates? Intel CPUs Suffer Performance Hit From New Spectre-v2 Mitigations tomshardware.com According to Phoronix's Core i9-12900K (Alder Lake) results, networking and storage performance went down the toilet after enabling Retpolines. The publication recorded a 26.7% performance loss on the former and 14.5% on the latter. That's the hallmark of these mitigations: Any external I/O from the chip takes a hard hit. Workloads like web browsing or image manipulation in GIMP didn't show a huge impact. Even modern Intel CPUs are losing up to 36% performance with the new Spectre BHI patch A new CPU exploit based on the infamous Spectre v2 has been discovered. However, when the security patch is applied it can affect performance by up to 36%, that's according to a recent study... Have a nice weekend 🙂 https://hwbot.org/achievement/20909_ -

We can add in AMD into this beauty as well. Intel, AMD, Arm warn of new speculative execution CPU bugs bleepingcomputer.com | Today Speculative execution trouble The speculative execution technique is designed to optimize CPU performance by running some tasks in advance (branch prediction) so the information is available when required. Straight-line-speculation In parallel news that coincide in disclosure, grsecurity has published the details and a PoC that can leak confidential data from AMD processors via a new straight-line-speculation (SLS) attack method. This new variant of SLS affects many AMD chips based on the Zen1 and Zen2 microarchitectures, including EPYC, Ryzen Threadripper, and Ryzen with integrated Radeon Graphics. AMD has published a list of the affected products and also a whitepaper that offers security advice for the medium-severity flaw tracked as CVE-2021-26341. -

With today’s modern and disgusting laptop cooling you may benefits from disabling Cpu turbo boost in some games to let the graphics get better boost clocks. The damn Unified heatsink design can’t cool both the Cpu and graphics adequately in full load for both. And it help even more with a weaker graphics card(or very disgusting cooling). -

Windows 11: The end of the old-school Windows desktop computerworld.com | Today In the long run, Microsoft wants you to switch to a Desktop-as-a-Service model, and the first steps on this journey may already be in place on your conventional Windows PC . You know it as Windows 11. With all this in mind, when I look at recent Windows 11 changes, I see clear signs that Windows 11 is the Trojan horse bringing WaaS to everyone — whether you want it or not. Wait? Didn't Microsoft say it was only going to be adding features to Windows 11 once a year? Ahem, yes it did. But Microsoft fibbed. Windows 11 will get Feature, Web, and Online Service Experience Packs whenever Microsoft wants to update them. Look at this beauty bro @Ashtrix @Mr. Fox Microsoft use all their tricks in the book. Don't make an fasit from only 1 or a few games... Yep, new has to be better. Always. The HP Hotkey UWP Service is a driver that lets you use the Function key on your laptop keyboard with the F1 – F0 keys to perform certain tasks, such as turning audio volume up and down. It starts automatically when Windows boots on an HP laptop, and users complain that while in Windows 10 it would take up minimal memory, in Windows 11 it takes up an enormous amount. A crappy Windows 11 driver is killing HP laptops – and owners are angry

Probably the cheapest they could put with this Corsair 1000D chassis. Do you have a suggestion for something better than this cheapo garbage? And I'm not very impressed with some of the workmanships. Corsair should add gaskets around the doors. 0.5-7mm gap on the top / bottom of the doors lead to incorrect air pressure in the chassis. Aka dust build up or that the fans draw in unfiltred air. I have to find a solution for this (a window gasket will work). I'll give their HW designers 0 of 10 for this failure on a otherwise great chassis. -

Sad they didn't make an bin statistic for the 12700K chips. But probably not worth it as it's an already heavly down binned chips. I would avoid all of the lower tier chips that have same P cores count as the flagship. You pay abit less but for an reason. Same was it for the 11th gen. The buyers is the losers vs Intel's bin strategy to offer KS chips for premium. Yep, you have an chance to ge a better chips with the KS but then you have to wait until the end of each new gen chips to buy a new platform. Intel is the winner here and the customers is the losers in the new modern chips lottery. -
