  1. Only a true good company would do that. None cater to performance enthusiasts. And they'll all get rid of the cards anyway without too much work. And regardless of price. Mining, scalpers, monetary inflation and AI have destroyed the GPU market https://web.archive.org/web/20220521031800/https://www.evga.com/articles/archive/00944/EVGA-GeForce-GTX-980-Ti-KINGPIN/default.asp AMD didn't know what to do. Maybe fight fire with fire?😁
  2. The only advantage for the AIB partners is.... They sell their cards all over the world. Many places you can't get an FE card. Either empty in the store or you can't buy them. And with the silicon lottery... All over the place. The more expensive cards offer better bling bling, better power delivery and cooler but don't be sure you get a good binned chips. And then you have the vram lottery. Not so sure the better cards (the more expensive one) will get the better binned IC's. But prepare for scalpers. 2000$ cards is cheaper than expected. They want their bite of the cake. Gigabyte’s custom GeForce RTX 5080 cards listed in EU, only one model at MSRP so far
  3. The HOF is probably dead because of the U:S AI war with China. We all will be stuck with what the different AIB partners offer of silicon lottery and firmware.... Is this the end of the GALAX HOF series?
  4. This is in fact great news. People buying less jokebooks is a good thing. And less e-waste. And I hope Microsoft see the paint on the wall. No one need more modern trash (to be able to use win 11). The problem? The U.S. doesn’t have a computer-manufacturing industry. Since it does not, retailers and consumers would be forced to pay the tariffs, regardless. The CTA estimates that U.S. consumers would instead curtail their spending dramatically, reducing laptop purchases by about 44 percent. https://www.pcworld.com/article/2573327/tariffs-could-cause-tech-prices-to-skyrocket-cta-warns-again.html
  5. You never know when you will be next on the melting list. But some of the AIB partners have done the same what Galax did 2 years ago for the HOF. Asus followed up with the Matrix later. A chip to stop the melting. This should be the minimum with the stupid tiny power connector for <nvidia graphics. This should be a minimum for a card that cost +1000$ Maybe stupid. But it is what it is. Bling bling, and not cheap but choices here home is low for faster 48GB stics. I never opted for Intel's failure (Arrow Lake) so I invest in old Raptor Lake. Higher speed memory means people will buy it in the used market when I move on (when, I don't know). I can just turn the RGB to all white. I wanted 2 x 24 GB Teamgroup T-Force Xtreem 8200 but as usual these have never been a choice here home. I have the nickel plated EK-Quantum Velocity² so it will fit well with the sticks https://www.proshop.no/RAM/GSkill-Trident-Z5-Royal-DDR5-8400-48GB-CL40-Dual-Channel-2-pcs-Intel-XMP-Soelv-med-RGB/3275216 Edit. The forum speed sucks @Reciever Btw. I hope Trump have the balls to stop Nvidia.... Nvidia and SIA fire back at US gov's new export restrictions on AI GPUs to China https://www.tomshardware.com/tech-industry/artificial-intelligence/nvidia-and-sia-fire-back-at-u-s-govs-new-export-restrictions-on-ai-gpus-to-china
  6. Exactly as Jokebooks become thinner. Desktop going same route. Remember many modern pc users want same design choices for desktop as for their laptops. You get exactly what you ask for. Form over function. Walker says that Nvidia prioritized a smaller volume for the high-end card specifically to help it fit into smaller PC cases such as mini-ITX builds. Interview: Nvidia explains RTX 5090 Founder’s Edition radical redesign https://www.pcworld.com/article/2573254/interview-nvidia-talks-rtx-5090-founders-edition-design.html Be happy Nvidia didn't force the PCB design for all AIB cards. After some time we will see the partners will try same small design. They will come. And if the popularity become widespread you'll se the dead end for big fat graphics cards. And ultimate power efficiency will be the Next big for all graphics cards.
  7. I forgot add in. Good luck make a decent custom water block for the 3 pieces FE models. If they can it will cost an arm and a leg. If not more. Edit. Nice. nvidia made a three-headed bastard. So I really hope they made a good cooler this time. And... CableMod want that you swap out your old good 12VHPWR cable/cable-adaper with the new in short same cable and connector but with the one with the moniker 12V-2x6. Nice. Only minor changes for the connector (Essentially it has slightly different pin design and other tweaks that improve all aspects of the 12VHPWR standard, much like it did for the GPU connector.). Yup. nvidia have made a bastard before. Btw. I have waited for this. Nothing surprise me anymore. Want one bro @Mr. Fox🙄 AIO cooler prototype has room for action figures Representatives also said that, if it ships, the AIO will come empty and the user will decide what type of figurine or other object to put inside the case. So you don't have to put a dragon in there if you don't want to. MSI as many other HW brands, know their audience. Tempted @electrosoft
  8. Our old friend F. Azor the salesman follow in Herkelman's footsteps. The man you can and should trust. Yup, Intel offer equal bad product with Arrow Lake as coming AMD Radeon refresh. Why not talk more about that? Put simply, AMD simply didn’t anticipate the disparity between its own product and Intel’s. “Put it this way,” AMD’s Azor said. “We knew we built a great part. We didn’t know the competitor had built such a horrible one. So the demand has been a little bit higher than we had originally forecasted.” AMD blames Ryzen 9800X3D shortages on Intel's crappy chips AMD explains why stockpiles of its Ryzen 9800X3D chip disappeared almost overnight in an interview from CES 2025. Even Nvidia throw out trash.... Nvidia's RTX 5070 gaming laptops hide a terrible secret Despite its enticing starting price, the new RTX 5070 laptop unveiled at CES 2025 is a solid pass for me. PCWorld’s Adam Patrick Murray tweeted a quote from a press Q&A with Nvidia’s CEO Jensen Huang on the RTX 5070’s 8GB of VRAM: “We strive to reach a balance between the [whole system]. We don’t always hit the right balance, but that’s the goal.” The goal is make max profits from minimum.
  9. From 6:40 5090 above double the performance vs 4090. If it wasn't for the new fake frame feature the performance uplift would be very boring. Yep, software developement is very profitably. Edit. The new 3 pieces pcb. Cracked PCB aka dead card should be post history if you can find and replace the finger card.
  10. They could do as before. Offer trash/average die but bin vram. MSI did that for their flagship cards. Also EVGA did something like this. They swapped out already paid vram from Hynix or was it Micron for Samsung vram for K|ngp|n cards. And for Zotac. Often good cards but difficult to find water blocks. Virtually non-existent.
  11. Hmmm. Remember Lightning was their flagship. Same is Matrix for Asus. Why you think MSI put on the Lightning logo? Btw. We will see the real vram silicon lottery first for RTX5080 series cards... https://wccftech.com/msi-geforce-rtx-50-gpus-are-exciting-exhilarating-extremely-powerful-suprim-vanguard-gaming-ventus/
  12. You never know what Nvidia have done with 5000 series. And it takes time to find new ways if they lock you out with signing keys in firmware. But this below would be a nice try for hackers if nvidia lock you out... More surprising to know that DLSS 4 with Multi Frame Generation could become compatible with graphics cards such as the RTX 40, RTX 30, RTX 20 or even the GPU of the Nintendo Switch 2 due to the fact that the use of hardware has been replaced by an AI model to generate frames . DLSS 4 Multi Frame Generation: RTX 40, 30 and 20 users may try to force its use And if this is correct, I can see why AMD closed their lips regarding next gen Radeon cards. And no-one should trust AMDs 'Chief Gaming Architect' F. Azor AMD Radeon RX 9070 shows off its performance in COD: it performs like the Radeon RX 7800 XT
  13. You also have the LIghtning luring in the future... But as we know... MSI don't bother with XOC anymore. MSI Teases GeForce RTX 5090 "Lightning" Special Edition Models at CES 2025 MSI RTX 5090 Special Edition: graphics card with 5 fans and liquid-cooled variant
  14. No need for AMD to implement the new modern power connectors for in-house cards. Their AIB parners will do it freely and have more than enough of the tiny power connectors for nvidia graphics cards. So why not weld them on AMD graphics cards? of course they willdo. Ashrock won't be the only one. ASROCK adopts 12V-2×6 power connector on Radeon RX 9070 XT graphics card Edit. Yup. You can't power up newer AMD cards with 8-pins if this is what you buy from the new modern era ... See this fantastic design and engineering solutions by MSI @Mr. Fox MPG A1250GS that offers 1,250W of power. Branded with MSI Performance gaming. Great idea? Twin 12V-2x6 connectors but barely enough 8-pins for the board and the processor. Sad nvidia didn't go further with the design. But modern people want smal cute graphics cards that fits in their tiny small modern pc chassis filled with aRGB and toy figures, sooo dead before arrival. Thermal testing showed the prototype performed signicantly better than the ocial Founders Edition design.

  17. Ir seems Asus prefer not to change the way the 12+4 pin connector is soldered on top of the PCB. Why? And what do you gain from this? I tell you... Slightly easier to remove the connector from the card because the hook is on top. Asus is the only one that do it this way. And they are also alone on top with melted connectors. Jup, even with the refreshed 12V-2x6. Hmmm. Even Gigabyte also offer 5000 series Nvidia cards for Meltgate Part 2 now. They do as Asus and solder the 12V-2x6 connector uppside down. Aka the opposite from previous gen. Yup, the gamers really need help with the tiny Nvidia power connector. What brand will be the next with stupid engineering? Looking forwards to Meltgate Part 2 as Nvidia increased the TDP for 5090😁 https://www.gigabyte.com/Graphics-Card/GV-N5090GAMING-OC-32GD/gallery#gallery
  18. I think techspot's article about Blackwell is quite good. One of the better. Many of the points above is well discussed. They talk about all SKUs and what is bad and what people won't know. Nvidia launches RTX 50 Blackwell GPUs: From the $2,000 RTX 5090 to the $549 RTX 5070 Here's one of the unknown... The other issue is using multi-frame rendering to hack our way to high-frame-rate gaming. Nvidia showed a demo where, without DLSS 4, a game was running at 30 FPS, but then over 240 FPS with DLSS 4 enabled. Now, of course, not even DLSS upscaling was enabled in the 30 FPS example, but we really don't want to see any situations where generating 3 frames is used to get a 30 FPS game up to 120 FPS – that would be absolutely horrific in terms of input latency. Edit.
  19. Blackwell architecture innovations and DLSS 4 mean the GeForce RTX 5090 GPU outperforms the GeForce RTX 4090 GPU by up to 2x. Then you have this.... NVIDIA DLSS 4 Boosts Performance by Up to 8x. By Nvidia NVIDIA Blackwell GeForce RTX 50 Series Opens New .. Fake frame features that can't be port to previous gen GPU's is an fantastic idea. Also AMD want this now. When will we see fake performance uplift from processors. Etc see an boost from Cinebench with 8x ? Hmmm. Food for thoughts😀 Next Generation of GeForce RTX GPUs Deliver Stunning Visual Realism and 2x Performance Increase, Made Possible by AI, Neural Shaders and DLSS 4 Nvidia showed that one scene could be rendered at 27 frames per second with the DLSS turned off, with a 71 millisecond PC latency. DLSS 2 can do that scene with its super resolution tech at 71 FPS and PC latency of 34 milliseconds. DLSS 3.5 can do the scene at 140 FPS and 33 milliseconds. But DLSS 4 comes in at a whopping 247 FPS and 34 milliseconds. DLSS 4 is more than eight times better performance than systems that aren’t using AI for the predictive processing. I wonder how much gain 5000 series will give in pure rasterization performance over 4000 series cards. There is no major node changes for Blackwell.
  20. Thanks. . Edit. Half the cores for 5080 will match the price for 5090 who have more vram. There is no competiton so the price seems quite correct. 5090 is bad news for the sales of Intel Core Ultra chips. The X3D chips from AMD will fly out from the shelves.
  21. It see Nvidia have made a place for an possible 5080Ti. $1500 for an failed 5090 die after they have enough chips to sell? And as expected... Nvidia want to compete in mid end with the 5070. Isn't 5080 half the die of 5090 ?
  22. @Mr. Fox are you ready for a new round with AW Jokebooks? Finally you can get the Area-51 model with welded on chips. And it offer clear Gorilla Glass window on the underside of the laptop provides a view into the inner-workings of the machine.
