  1. With a K I can easly accept get lower quality chips but not if you pay premium and buy their special binned chips. A huge difference. The variance between the different KS is all too big. In short a scam. Not pleased how Intel have treated their enhusiast performance crowd. If they want to bin chip for a special version.... Just offer three top tiers. OKish, better and best. More the way EVGA binned and sold their 9xx serieis kingpin cards. 3 tiers and 3 different price point. This way people know what to expect. Not this new greedy way maxinmize profits. Low bin +$50 above vanilla K and so on. Middle bin +$100 Top bin +$150 But I expect Intel have so many defective KS chips so this is impossible to offer.
  2. Should be able to return it. But my headroom for returning "working" goods shrinks. Can't do it many times before you get a nope. Also shops here home can ban you returning working goods if this repeats itself several times. With limited store selections here at home, I can't continue to return working items. Because the stores have to sell the goods as a demo at a loss. Isn't it nice living in a small country with limited options for everything? Edit. Approved return. The shipping label is is now received in epost. I may send it back tomorrow. Just sad we can't send it back directly to Intel. Has to be back to the shop. Intel deserve get all the fake KS back. Back to awesome. I really love Corsairs smart engineers. They continue offer 8-pins to 12VHPWR cable adapters for their new PSUs. Smart move. Not everyday you see enginners use their heads. Corsair launches white RMx SHIFT 750W-1200W power supplies with side-mounted connectors The side-panel does not have a native 12VHPWR power connector, but the company is providing a suitable cable fully compatible with this standard.
  3. I fix it for you🙂 75% of all sold KS is defective products. And the rest isn't fantastic. Even with SP110 they are defective Cpu's. In short.... Intel should never ever have released the 14900KS. But greed and stupidity go hands in hands. We have seen this time after time. And Intel have failed massive with this refresh rehash. This match damn vell.
  4. Not as bad as the one above but a very defective product from Intel. If this is the trend looking for a KS I will keep my 14900K. Because this is disgusting. This made me so sick that I almost threw up. And I don't want to keep up working more with this. My time is more valuable than keep up with this. Yup this one is equal awful as the bottom barrell here https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1ZzG0mdIO63i1S-BVmFRWOUAGjP6FGokt8cSorlg5CI0/edit#gid=0 It seems 3 out of 4 KS is defective chips. Isn't that "special"?
  5. Spot on. And not all cancer can be cured. Same as with stupidity. Can't be fixed. Latest Windows 11 Update Breaks AMD iGPU Drivers, Ryzen APU Handhelds & Laptops Affected
  6. Nope. But the options from others is bad/worse. Hope they will get stiffer competition from the other OEMs with next gen. Remember you can have above 100GB ram with two slots boards nowadays. And they will pop up for sure for next gen chipset. Msi have already pushed out a tiny 2 dimm OC board for China. Sadly it is a baby itx board and low end phase design. But next gen... More will come. And Asus will need to fix their QC as well. Their reputation is already sinking as a stone thrown in the water. Much easier with jokebooks. All of them is pure cancer so I avoid all of them. I don't want any ot them. Can't be easier choice than this. And neither do I like Microsoft (same problem... You have almost no other options than use their OS). Also Asus shine brigh and ugly into this mess. Cancer meet cancer so to speak. Latest Windows 11 Update Breaks AMD iGPU Drivers, Ryzen APU Handhelds & Laptops Affected
  7. Yup, isn't Intel "special"?🙄 Flashed to latest beta bios waiting for the KS. Default bios settings (no XMP) and stock CBR-23 (priority at sub normal). Edit. The KS looks more and more disgusting if this SP calculation is correct. New record breaker from Intel's binning team🤮 Anyone seeing SP95 or lower? Everyone say they haven't oc'd their unlocked Cpu's🙂 Used 13900K for around $520 here home.
  8. I don't even delid anymore. The tools and blocks is expensive (and difficult to find here) and no one want to buy colder running chips on the used market due no more warranty. You have to play with what you have. But I still get decent results compared to many others with the much better silicon (some even overspent to get the best you can get, but still can't get it to fly). Hmmm, can't be due the SP quality I got... Because what I have got from Intel the two last years, sucks.
  9. ROG MAXIMUS/STRIX Z790 Series Beta Bios 2102/1102 01. Optimization 14900KS CPU Dont use old cmo file ROG MAXIMUS Z790 APEX Test Bios 9903 (Based on 2102) https://drive.google.com/file/d/1KXVoGeRvCdCu-AwGRmRoURNtBcD97uDQ/view?usp=sharing ROG MAXIMUS Z790 APEX ENCORE Test Bios 9903 (Based on 1102) https://drive.google.com/file/d/1cfoqRVqwyXSTZgaom_T-FyokEB91AEBC/view?usp=sharing
  10. Not sure it will affect the gamers. They want the X3D. And they are in stock. I expect the same also with next gen. AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D 16-core 3D V-Cache processor is now available for $565
  11. der8auers SP104 isn't much better than your SP102. Intel should never ever have released this Cpu in it's bin state. And I feel very sad for those that buy the 14900K/13900KS forwards. Intel think single core workflow is king today. Just pump in voltage and hope for the best. Imagine how the 14900KS will run in the new flawed tiny cramped Alienware chassis with the small cute 280 mm custom AIO? Fixed 59/45/45 with L5 and 1.5V. And stright to 100C and freeze. Do you freeze from seeing this @Mr. Fox?🥶 And how about +20C between the coldest and hottest cores with the new fixed Thermal Grizzly direct die block already in production? Hmmm. And why make a better coldplate for the RGB version for +$140 or +40% premium above the vanilla direct die block? Why not use same coldplate also for the non RGB version? Again... I don't grasp this. Defective chips. And you are able to run your cpu below 50C and slight above 300W. That's an major difference. The KS isn't more than bad binned chips. Intel's main target is gamerboys that want highest possible clock speed and can disable HT and all the baby cores. You probably know about the next gen chips... 8 real cores... No HT to reduce the power consumption to match AMD's low power gamer chips. Asus have introduced a new way to increase profits or ASP. One more bad thing with this proprietary BTF mess.... Asus will have to introduce new graphics SKUs that will reduce the chance to get proper binned GPUs. More SKUs from same GPU lineup but with this proprietary power rails will water down the chance to win in the silicon lottery going with Asus graphics cards. ASUS ROG Maximus Z790 HERO BTF launched at €799, comes with integrated 600W GPU power connector https://videocardz.com/newz/asus-rog-maximus-z790-hero-btf-launched-at-e799-comes-with-integrated-600w-gpu-power-connector Furthermore, the “Advanced BTF” program which includes a proprietary GPU connector requires a special GPU that only ASUS makes.... The ROG Maximus Z790 Hero BTF motherboard is now available for purchase at French retailer LDLC for €799, marking a €110 (16%) increase compared to the standard variant
  12. Damn and this is stock? I expect you use the latest beta. Tried flash the official bios? And have you tried another MC from bios? See also my older post here. Can you compare vs the results from the linked results? Voltage, temps, software, power consumption and scores. Run default. As well... This mess above is from the white Apex? Too much work use another board? GTX 1070 - 2nd and 3rd in 3Dmark Vantage… https://hwbot.org/submission/5510850_papusan_3dmark_vantage___performance_(gpu)_geforce_gtx_1070_96779_marks?recalculate=true https://hwbot.org/submission/5510840_papusan_3dmark_vantage___performance_geforce_gtx_1070_106102_marks GTX1070 https://hwbot.org/submission/5510864_papusan_unigine_superposition___1080p_xtreme_geforce_gtx_1070_4416_points?recalculate=true
  13. Yup. More people see the same as me. It seems Intel tried bin for the single core crown. The rest is just sad. https://www.overclock.net/threads/overclocking-raptor-lake-refresh-14900k-14700k-14600k-etc-results-bins-and-discussion.1807439/post-29308164 It’s crazy to see how poor the E cores are on most of these KS chips GTX1070 ::: GPUPI-32B and more gold for the @PremaHwbot Team🙂 https://hwbot.org/submission/5510773_papusan_gpupi___32b_geforce_gtx_1070_18min_12sec_139ms?recalculate=true
  14. Seems razorblade is the only option. A big layer of silicon/glue that need to be cut. Maybe add some heat with a heatgun under the work.
  15. What is your stock Cinebench 23 score? Loads of test results from reviews and from users is barely 40.000/41.000 for the KS. That's awful result when you know the KS run higher clocks for the P and the E-cores. I get +42160 in CBR23 with a stock 14900K with default bios. 5.7/4.4/4.5 ring (no XMP) all core clock speed in bench. And CBR23 run with below normal priority. Yep, the OS isn't full of trash tasks in the background but still the KS should provide more Oom-pah. And is there an difference between the SP ranking between the 14th gen K and KS ? Because I see the SP for the E-cores looks worse for the KS. Almost half of the posted results show well below SP80. If there is same SP ranking, it looks very bad for the E-cores on the KS. From 4:00 - LOOOL
  16. Of course this happen for a reason. When you people have "all too much money" to spend on tech and things then expect the shipping companies need more time pushing the packages from A to B. So stop whine for waiting on the package. The best fix is as always... Spend less money🙂 Be very careful with your firmware flashing forwards.... Even more important with Jokebooks. And I will continue with installing standalone patches from Microsoft behind closed network. Yup I download patches and save them. I never let Windows Update doing the work automatically. You never know when Microsoft push on you unwanted fixes. At least you need to learn how to delete installed MC from Redmond in the OS environment. Intel CPUs see slight performance loss with new security fixes Phoronix didn't provide figures for average performance with the mitigation enabled and with it disabled, but by our reckoning, performance drops by around 5% overall. The worst performance declines at around 10% in a few tests. However, there were several workloads where performance was more or less the same whether RFDS was mitigated. An OS patch and a new microcode are necessary to mitigate RFDS. At least through motherboard vendor websites, we haven't seen any BIOS updates mentioning security mitigations for RFDS. However, Linux users got the new microcode through an update to Linux. Windows users will hopefully be able to get the patched microcode through a Windows update.
  17. GTX1070 - GPUPI 3.2 - 1B Not bad for a air cooled card. 2240 on the cores. The 5 above run sub zero cooling, so.... https://hwbot.org/submission/5509680_papusan_gpupi___1b_geforce_gtx_1070_16sec_538ms?recalculate=true
  18. Here's one more. SP103 With all these awful KS results you can start wonder how much trash Intel bin for the vanilla K. @johnksss Nice to see you around. Hope life have treating you good the last year.
  19. Back to normal. Review sample or bin quailty expected for people most. And not handpicked for the elite/fab benchers... SP103 and +102 °C. Almost as the max Cpu temp matched the SP score, LOOL ComputerBase received the Core i9-14900KS from Intel for testing. The best Special Edition of the 14th Generation Core computerbase.de Two different types people will pay for it. Scammers so they can re-sell it for huge profits on the used market or people that need parts due failed delidding. Edit. Hmmm. This one was new for me. @Mr. Fox Can you please tell me what is Thermal Paste for Gamers? Can this Asus paste be used for vanilla computer users as etc old me? Hmmm.... I don't think so. Asus premium... $53 for 3 gram and useless add ons. Yep, I saw it today. On top they don't want to show of any thermal conductivity numbers. Yup, it has to be for gamers... And not for me. Do anyone know the thermal conductivity rating? Any Asus fanboys or gamers out there that know?😁 ASUS Launches ROG RG-07 Performance Thermal Paste for Gamers https://www.thefpsreview.com/2023/10/17/asus-launches-rog-rg-07-performance-thermal-paste-for-gamers/ Edit.... For those that don't know 2.5 W/m.k The small barrel with 33.84g Grizzly Kryonaut Extreme I bought for $110 USD a few months ago looks like a huge bargain compared. And that was an already disgusting price. $55 usd for 3 gram gamer paste from Asus is a scam.
  20. Yup. And the Cpu is picked up a few days before launch (for try out). Not what people should expect. Remember Intel have snooped up average 14900K for the binning for the KS (+100$ profits for each). Then you know what you risk get🙁
  21. Fishing in Valdres... @ryan @Mr. Fox Here's real Norwegian language. Folow the text here😁
  22. Intel Core i9-14900KS Review - The Last of its Kind techpowerup.com LOOL And how shall Intel close the gap with next gen processors? No more HT wil surely help. But you'll lose 33% of the threads. At least some good news.... Intel adds 12 games to Application Optimization (APO) and “Advanced Mode” enabling 12th Gen Core+ support If you have an Intel CPU from the 12/13 or 14th Gen Core series, make sure to leave a comment if you see any gains in games that weren’t listed above. 23. Of course Intel wasn't keen push out review samples before it was almost to late for review on launch day. 100C all over the place. Could you compare with the single core boost with same monitoring software? https://overclocking.com/labo-le-i9-14900ks-est-dans-le-labo-mais/ We only received our copy this Tuesday at the end of the day, so it was impossible for us to offer you a complete test on time. And this is just stupid... Maybe Intel have no 14900K in stock to compare with? Intel didn’t benchmark the 14900KS against the 14900K. But the company did test the chip against its direct predecessor, the Core i9-13900KS, which launched a year ago with a 6GHz top speed. The catch is that the 14900KS was running Intel’s Application Optimization feature, which is designed to further improve performance on supported games. For now, the APO feature is exclusive to the 14th generation desktop line. Intel Application Optimization (APO) is also expanded, where this now supports a total of 14 game titles. Intel's Core i9-14900KS Chip Is Here With 6.2GHz Speeds
