  1. Intel's new Special Edition gaming CPU hits 6.2 GHz with 1.5 volts Hmmmm. This doensn't look great for many hoping for something better than their 13900KS/14900K. A step down to 6.0GHz for the KS should be around 1.448v. In short... Intel snagged up all the average ok'ish 14900K chips for their KS. Hence all the trash 14900K the last couple of months. Intel Core i9-14900KS spotted in the wild with 6.2 GHz clocks and high voltage This black box is damn heavy to lift up on the new wheel stand. And this even without the huge glass doors mounted. Hmmm. But bigger is better😀
  2. Hmmm. Have you compared the power consumption at same clockspeed vs your other Cpu's? Your Cpu behave almost as the binned 12900K der8auer bought for the test below. Also he mentioned weak E-cores as well. And same hot running chips. Seems your new Cpu will be a good sample for sub zero cooling or with LN2. Exactly the Cpu the LN2 clockers want. And @snakeyes looking after/binning such type CPU's with high leackage for LN2 benching. If your new Cpu is more like the binned 12900K it may still run hotter due higher leakage. But delidde will help. It will for almost all Cpu's. I hope the sTim isn't perfects hence it runs so hot. So a delid and bare die should be a good fix to reduce temps. Edit. Working on a new wheel tower stand. The old one will soon collapse due to the heavy weight. The black box is well above +55kg now. And the new plate will be 40mm thick compared to the old one at 22mm. Better safe than sorry 🙂 The old wheel stand doesn't look safe anymore. New plate The new plate should be able to hold several hundereds kg. I mean the 4 wheels I use can keep up with a total of 300kg. Or 75kg for each wheel. And with this thicker plate I can use longer screws for the wheels for even more safety🙂 The Little Thief play with small balls around the pc so I added a guard under the plate. So no more fun for him, HaHa
  3. What's you needs?😀 A new collector/bench card or gaming/video editing? Can all this be done with what you already have? For me... Nice to have the best you can get but not needed. I can still have fun with my "very old" stuff. Nothing can beat sub $50 price point for having fun🙂 But it will fail hard if you want 4K gaming or video editing for living. You can't have it both ways. Very cheap and best at same time. If you need 4090... Then buy it. Btw. What EVGA 570 card do you have?
  4. Saving several hundreds? What is into those numbers? I see more like $100-150 dollars vs a 4080 Super if you can get it at MSRP. I would rather buy a overpriced 4080S at MSRP than AMD product. And if the 4080S is in shortage... Just wait with the purchase. But that's me.
  5. Yes. I have never touched such thermal paste. Weird type paste. More like glitter and oil. But I don't use the cheapest unknown branded thermal paste. No problem if it's cheap but I want a paste that I have used before I know perform well. 2nd old card arrived Papusan's plaza today @electrosoft 😁This time N570GTX Twin Frozr III Power Edition/OC. But this one is the most dirty and dusty card I have ever seen. I wonder how the whole computer looked like when you see this.. N570GTX Twin Frozr III Power Edition/OC review computerbase.de The GTX570 Power Edition have same design and metal shroud as the stroger GTX580 Lightning
  6. More images. I opened up the Zotac GTX580 Amp! Edition. Quite new paste on it. But a hell lot of it😱 And this paste is silver/greyish. Not sure what brand this is. But will be a mess to clean up such a load of paste. Maybe he used two tubes, LOOL The fit between the vapor Chamber and the GPU lid is quite awful for most of these older cards. Thanks god that modern graphics cards use bare die nowadays. And because of the GPU lid and bad fits these old Fermi cards is hard to cool under full load. And with a custom made vbios with higher voltage target it will be even worse😁 Edit. I'l try reduce the gap with sanding down the standoffs on the VC. Because thermal paste ain't cheap🙂 You can't find ok'ish paste here home below $25 for a small tube. And the GPU lid is as I said huge on these old cards
  7. More pict for the pict jokey @electrosoft🙂 The trash-boat have arrived. Asic score of 82.6% is already confirmed by previous owner. He fired up the card only for me asking. Say hello to Zotac GTX580 Amp! Edition. And there is two other old cards on the way for my old GPU collection. So stay tuned for more pictures😁 And yup, they all need repaste. And the huge GPU lid is equal 4x the zice of the die (+2000 mm²) need a lots of thermal paste. And here you can see the GTX580 Trash boat togeter with my Point Of View GTX580
  8. Hmmm. Is this trustworthy? "AMD's has told me that extremely limited overclocking of the GRE cards is a bug and it will be addressed shortly," stated Steve Walton in the latest YouTube video. When was 7900GRE launched? The answer is July 2023 in China. Last year. That's 7 months ago. Better late than never bro @Mr. Fox? And no one bother talk with AMD about this so called bugs the last +6 months? Whats wrong with AMD, their quality and QC problems? Do they even test their products before and after they are pushed out to the screwed buyers? Read carefully.... Having been on the market for so many months, it's curious that we've heard nothing about the bug until now. AMD confirms bug with recent Radeon gaming GPU — RX 7900 GRE overclocking limit will be removed in a future driver
  9. Thanks for the testing. This test bios have new microcode from newes firmware/Intel. Have you compared the MC between 13th and 14th gen ? And have you compared bench results (stock or/and oc'd) with the new vs old MC ? I expect the previous MC is still stored in the new test Bios and can be utilised if you change MC. Edit. And it seems Asus force you to use latest IMEI now because that follow each new bios version forwards. I hope they don't do that if the newest MEI isn't needed for newer test bios. And here is even a newer MEI firmware on Asus forum.... So stay away if not needed Firmware : 16.1.30.2330 Edit. It seems MSI push on you 16.1.30.2330 if you update to their newer bios versions for Z790 boards. Btw. Very fun with new bios. The trash MC went down from 74 or was it 78 and down to 70. Is less more?😆 And very nice have to activate 7 new modern Windows versions but with the nice and thrusty Win 7 you don't have this shenigans/stupidity. With my older Asus Z690 board I never needed to activate any Windows afterwards due a push on the second bios or after flashing new bios. Damn, I hate the newer and more modern. You can ask you yourself.... Is all this worth it? Nope. Because newer mostly bring nothing. And I don't care about any new and mostly useless security fixes from HW manufacturers. They bring nothing to the (bench) table. This... He worked as general manager of Nvidia's GeForce business from September 2012 to May 2015. Maybe he got kicked out from the Green Team with the tail between his legs?🙂 We may never get to know why he left nvidia after such short time. But the hate against nvidia and the massive "hail" of AMD have been there since then. Same with AMD vs Intel. Maybe Intel will be the next on his hit list.
  10. Very cute. Almost as my second PSU as the tiny Cooler Master V750 SFX Gold I got to power extra accessories. But how does it work when you run everything at max? Will you run a dual PSU setup to save the new tiny from burning up?😆 Me talking with bro @tps3443 after 6 months hard use of the new baby PSU....😁
  11. And yup. Microsoft continue offer fantastic works. I wonder how it will work with their next innovation as "Hot patching and no reboot". Microsoft breaks users' PCs again with latest Windows 11 update Latest Windows 11 update kills some actively exploited bugs as long as you can get it to install properly
  12. My previous post was so long, hence a new. Where have mr Musk been? Under a rock?😂 “Just bought a new PC laptop and it won’t let me use it unless I create a Microsoft account, which also means giving their AI access to my computer! This is messed up,” lamented the tech CEO. “There used to be an option to skip signing into or creating a Microsoft account.” He asked his followers, “Are you seeing this too?” Elon Musk blasts Microsoft about Windows 11’s account requirement – takes several hours to bypass it https://www.tomshardware.com/software/windows/elon-musk-blasts-microsoft-about-windows-11s-account-requirement-takes-several-hours-to-bypass-it And it seems nvidia and Jensen struggle to meet their profit's goals from the gaming division. Could it be because their new Graphics cards is all too expensive? Or are they all too cheap? Maybe slower sales of AI server chips is expected forwards? Nvidia’s free-tier GeForce Now will soon show ads while you’re waiting to play https://www.theverge.com/2024/2/26/24084338/nvidia-geforce-now-ads-free-tier
  13. Hmm. You sit and enjoy the new and buggy crashing mess from the Red camp while I sit enjoy the old GTX 750Ti from the Green camp grabbing Gold and points😁 Almost as we sit in two different worlds, LOOL Not sure the new will fix the crashing. AMD Radeon Software Adrenalin 24.2.1 driver download WHQL Graphics cards - AMD Adrenaline (Windows 10/11) 465 Updated 4 hours ago by Hilbert Hagedoorn 282 Download the all-new Radeon Software Radeon Software Adrenalin driver as released by AMD. This update provides support and enhancements for the games Helldivers 2, Skull and Bones, and Nightingale. Additionally, it includes a significant number of bug fixes for crashes and small enhancements aimed at improving gaming performance. But the daughter's pc box looks great🙂 Yup, Red and Hot, HaHa GTX750Ti https://hwbot.org/submission/5493848_papusan_3dmark_vantage___performance_(gpu)_geforce_gtx_750_ti_28234_marks?recalculate=true https://hwbot.org/submission/5493842_papusan_gpupi___1b_geforce_gtx_750_ti_1min_14sec_951ms?recalculate=true https://hwbot.org/submission/5493906_papusan_3dmark___cloud_gate_geforce_gtx_750_ti_39458_marks?recalculate=true https://hwbot.org/submission/5493910_papusan_3dmark___sky_diver_geforce_gtx_750_ti_21461_marks?recalculate=true https://hwbot.org/submission/5493844_papusan_3dmark_vantage___performance_geforce_gtx_750_ti_35443_marks?recalculate=true We can talk about fancy and special.... See bro @electrosoft post😆
  14. Of course you can cut down prices when you go for micro boards. Less parts, components and less materiale. In short... Less of everything outside maybe better mem oc' due the 2 dimm design. Also if you build automotive cars in very small design... They become cheaper🙂 Is less more... Not in my world.
  15. How is this even possible? And here is todays worst Joke. A must have @Mr. Fox? D🤮E🤮L🤮L Dell Claims It’s Precision 3680 Tower Workstation With Intel Core i9-14900K CPU Offers “World’s Fastest Single-Threaded” Performance Dell is not breaking the rules here and simply running the 14900K CPU at its max PL2 limit which is 253W, all the time, and that makes sure that the workstation doesn't breach the warranty guidelines set by Intel by overclocking the chip.
  16. In the old days they focused on overclocking.... Nowadays they focus on fancy RGB and the design. Look on the GPU packages for new modern cards. Oc'ing is almost not mentioned. I really love the design on the older flagship cards from Evga, Msi and Galax. Asus is boring.
  17. Yup. And if they lock you out you are screwed if similar happens with whatever HW you own. See also my latest words in previous post. I'm happy with how MSI manage older HW? Nope. And it doesn't matter if you have some older AMD or Nvidia graphichs.
  18. See my edit. If MSI want everything locked out you may risk have to buy a new screen. We could fix Dell's stupidity. But don't count on this next time. And if this is the direction they want forwards... Be prepared for something much worse forwards. Remember also... Only Asus software can fix MSI's stupidity locking you out from the voltage slider for older graphics cards.
  19. Main point.... No one should lock you out from flashing whatever firmeware you want. You have paid for the product. You yourself should be able to do whatever you want with your hardware. If this is the direction MSI want "for you" forwards... Then you know the outcome. And that's not a good thing. Edit. You remember the black screen issues with AW and Clevo screens? How would it be if you couldn't flash new firmware? You was fully locked oth the way MSI want. That's disgusting.
  20. Hmmm. This is MSI…. They prefer casual gamers/gamer «kids». Their future. Of course they released a new 2 dimm mini board for the same audience and not a real ATX board for the enthusiasts. Yup, the tech trend continues. Facepalm: A controversial decision to limit firmware updates on some new MSI gaming monitors ticked off enthusiasts. However, casual gamers will likely flock to the display's impressive specs and affordable pricing. https://www.techspot.com/news/102011-msi-new-monitors-cause-uproar-reddit-over-firmware.html
  21. More nasty incoming... Your next Windows update may not require a reboot — "Hot Patching" is reportedly coming to Windows 11 shortly tomshardware.com The only caveat with this new on-the-fly Windows update feature is that it will enable Virtualization Based Security (VBS). If you are a gamer, there is a good chance you might have this feature turned off to boost system performance. Since it is a feature that is known to reduce performance slightly. Microsoft is currently testing its hot patching feature in the Windows 11 dev channel, but only with Windows Insiders with VBS enabled.
  22. Why you think Jonny Guru (edit... boss for PSU division) put an stopper for this for Corsair PSU'S ? And the bend ratio is more strict for PSU's. They apply in all directions. + you get the flimsy hook also on the PSU panel. Double good? Nope. Double worse! And ATX 3.0 is an old standard now. And don't offer CEM 5.1 Edit. Buy Corsair’s latest revision of HX1500.
  23. This is perverse. Who in their right mind can come up with something like this as an improvement? we talk about well paid engineers Disable "Show more options" context menu in Windows 11 And the HW manufacturers adopt exactly same stupid thinkings. And if I remember correctly.... Microsoft will with time handle all new drivers forwards from all HW companies. It will be worse bro Fox. A lot worse. And You don't need to look into a dummy books anymore. It will pop up directly on your screen. And AI will be in the kernel. So you can't stop it/disable it. I'm happy I am an older man. Edit. Yum yum... More of the modern. This won't stop. The only caveat with this new on-the-fly Windows update feature is that it will enable Virtualization Based Security (VBS). If you are a gamer, there is a good chance you might have this feature turned off to boost system performance. Since it is a feature that is known to reduce performance slightly. Microsoft is currently testing its hot patching feature in the Windows 11 dev channel, but only with Windows Insiders with VBS enabled.
  24. As I mentioned in older posts.... I think we will see more 2 dimm boards forwards. And this helps on this as well. However, bigger things are coming. Memory manufacturers are preparing their mainstream 64GB memory modules for prime time. MSI brings 256GB RAM support on Intel and AMD motherboards Spot on. If this new fancy will be the only option I will go all in with Nvidia profile inpector. I have benched AMD card and I hate their fancy app/software. As you see... The new modern tech tend continue. I really hope Nvidia can make a slimmed down new fancy trashware. You have the opposite experience vs me. I can't see any fantastic with the MSI products I have owned. And I talk about several GPU's. Remember I'm an collector and bencher. Not a gamer. And why MSI scrapped 2 dimm boards after Z690 isn't a good move if you want sell products to those that enjoy benching/performance. A sucky move. Yup, they re- relased 2 dim board. But with baby design. This isn't what to expect from a brand that cater to oc'ers.
