Yup, and nvidia know it very well. In same way as they helped the miners with cards under the mining boom.... They do everything to maximize profits and make shortage for the gamers (the ultimate way to pump up the ASP and inflating prices). Disgusting. You remember the accident where Nvidia slipped the developer driver that circumvented the Mining limiter for later refresh of 3000 series cards? That wasn't an accident. It was done with intent/purpose. -

The RX 7900 XT/X also banned from China! overclocking.com https://overclocking.com/les-rx-7900-xt-x-egalement-bannies-de-chine/ Nvidia made this possible. And they know this would lead to new ways to use 4090's... And they also know this would lead to massive shortage of 4090's to the gamers. Nvidia's greed and hunger for max profits is awful. U.S Government should have issued an massive fine to Nvidia. In billiards. Be you sure.... Nvidia know what would happens with all the AD102 chips they flooded to China. And they know most of the cards would never ever end to the gamers... Chinese Factories Dismantling Thousands of NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 “Gaming” GPUs & Turning Them Into “AI” Solutions With Blower-Style Coolers I hope the U.S government never forget this and STOP any ask for license under the "NEC" eligibility rule to Nvidia. They deserve nothing. Only the mentioned fine. In billions value. -

Jup. Nvidia earn money as grass because they are greedy bastards that grabbed almost all AD102 for themself for workstations and server-cards. Where is AMD when we really need them? All they do is try to milk on low/mid end. GeForce RTX 4090 hits $2,000/€2,000 average price NVIDIA Crushes Earnings On Monster AI Chip Demand And Big Gains In Gaming NVIDIA has found its golden goose in AI chip design, which contributed heavily to another massive spike in revenue during the company's third quarter of fiscal 2024—it tripled year-over-year to $18.12 billion. That's also a sizable 34% gain from the previous quarter and a new quarterly revenue record.... ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is really good news for Chinese gamer boys/girls. Now they may not being scammed by Dell anymore. A big win for the Chinese gamers. I wish Dell also could offer same restrictions all over the world🤪 Dell restricts exports of AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX, RX 7900, and Pro W7900 GPUs to China -

Not much we can do if everything you find is pure trash. And we are closer and closer for each new day. Yet another failure. Use one of the best MB and pick the wrong Radeon 7900 XTX, then you'll have to use one of the PCIe 8 pin pigtail connectors. Going with 5x 8-pin connectors on new modern quality PSUs is just dumb. See.... RIP uBlock Origin? Google Proceeds With Plan to Shake Up Chrome Extensions For years now, Google has been trying to wind down Manifest V2 in favor of Manifest V3, which is designed to offer better security for Chrome extensions. But the effort has been met with resistance from ad-block providers since Manifest V3 can also restrict access to content filtering on the Chrome browser. If you’re a fan of ad blockers, prepare for some change: Google is resuming a plan to phase out older Chrome extensions, including the one for uBlock Origin. The phaseout will start in June 2024, when Google begins disabling older Chrome extensions built with the “Manifest V2” system. “Users impacted by the rollout will see Manifest V2 extensions automatically disabled in their browser and will no longer be able to install Manifest V2 extensions from the Chrome Web Store,” the company says. Still, the news is sparking worries for fans of uBlock Origin on Chrome. “By disabling support for MV2, Google will be pushing even more ads,” tweeted Tuta, the encrypted email provider.

The side effect… Same as under the mining race. Shortage and higher prices (4090). And they can probably sell more overpriced 4080’s. Perfect solution giving the 4080 Super the cheaper AD103 die. Today’s question…. Will nvidia release a 4080Ti ? @electrosoft🫢 -

What's wrong with the U:S Government? Why the 4090 but not nvidia's $6000 RTX 6000 ADA cards? Smart done by Mr. Jensen and Nvidia.... Stop producing 4090's then make shortage and rather use all AD102 die's for their more expensive workstation cards. They even screwed own AIC partners. Because they needed all the AD102 chips themself. The US government banned Nvidia's fastest gaming GPU from China — chipmaker pulls RTX 4090 listings due to AI concerns, but leaves RTX 6000 Ada -

Nice. Igorslab have focus on the same topic as me in this weekends article... Useless/stupid engineers and stupid solutions! Happy to see there is some others out there that can see the same as me. Bad engineerering always boils down to the engineers that made the flaws possible. Weekend blues: Burnt things from the laboratory and the Mini-Fit HCS as a brake on fun igorslab.com A skyscraper decision as unexpected as a plot twist in an engineering soap opera. Really imagine this scene: engineers sitting around a table wondering how they can make the impossible possible. “Let’s put the header upright!” – “But why?” – “Because we can!” And then there is the lack of space on the small PCB. Every millimeter of the PCB is utilized, resulting in a dense population of resistors, capacitors, and other components. The boat was full and they simply put the tower of horror on the board, always hoping that the customer would swallow it and execute the adapter. When we are at it.... Bad engineering also come with some aftermarket solutions that don't do it any better.... Some milk on stupid engineering with lackluster QC. What's the point with the lengthened power pins for the new 12V-6×2 connectors if Cablemod going the opposite way with their lottery terminals? Better quality connectors (CEM 5.1) doesn't help if the cable maker continue with their poor QC. Just got around to installing my 1.1 and noticed that the pins have pretty uneven depth; especially the upper-left pin..? See also. When stupid is the new norm. Cablemod reps try to explain that their 12VHPWR products have less failures than EVGA GPU's. This isn't apple vs apples. This is apples vs oranges. -

Some engineers should be fired. They can't even make an SSD cooler correctly. I can add in "blind" as well. Edit. Yup, it seems Corsair's engineers tested the cooler on one specific slot/board. I added my two cents @Mr. Fox -
Yup. Windows 11 is a disgusting mess.

Jup, stupid heatsink design by stupid engineers. Just let the vram be naked and let the fans flow air over them. I could use K5 Pro thermal putty as I use for the other older cards. But it won't help much due idiot design. As you can see from the links... Not only Asus make awful cooling design. Also Msi have hired idiots for their thermal design solutions. Edit. Here you can see Evga created proper cooling for the vram. Why Asus and Msi hate spend needed money on the cooling is baffling//mind boggling. Greedy paired with stupidity is a dangerous combination. -
14th Gen Desktop replacement Laptops?
Papusan replied to Snowleopard's topic in What Laptop Should I Buy?
As already mentioned... You already own the last true laptop (DTR) worth to buy. New and more modern laptops with newest hardware is limited in all ways. Cpu and GPU soldered on the MB... Almost no storage slots. Mostly max 2x m.2 slots. And most of the new laptops have only two ram slots if not one or both of the memory are soldered to the MB. But they are damn thin, slim and cute, have the newest panels and come with small fancy shaped PSUs that can offer the 240W power mostly all laptops are capped with. DTR laptops is dead. Want DTR then you have to buy a desktop (prebuilt or build by yourself). None of the new and modern laptops can be branded as DTR. I would rather say they all are Apple copy-cats. So no thanks. -

Here is more pictures for the pict jockey @electrosoft😀 Say hello to the MSI GeForce GTX 960 GAMING 100ME (Limited Edition) for my GPU collection. Fancy Green and I mean it have Samsung vram. I paid 200,- or $18.29 USD for this limited beauty so not a huge loss if it fails. And the card have still the void sticker on one of the screws so it probably need a re-paste. The nice part, this card come with a backplate opposite to the more vanilla (MSI) GTX 960 cards. Fantastic that MSI could afford that. Here's the thing... I always try go the cheapo route if I can. No in Hell I would pay $150 USD as this stupid want for his 8 years old green goblin Edition on ebay. So no difference than with newer cards. No in hell I would paid I cent above $700 for Nvidia's $1199 4080 Scam. Edit. Yup, never re-pasted. Same old dryed out stamp as most of the OEM prefer to use. And no thermal pads for the vram. Can't be cheaper doing it this way.... -

According to aggrieved users, the problem affects Windows 10/11 installations that were legally activated using Windows 7/8 product keys as part of a free upgrade offer from Microsoft. However, following last month's update some of those installations are reportedly getting deactivated if any hardware component in the PC is changed or the BIOS is updated. See also.... Who can they blame? On the consumers or themselves? Todays word has to be Greed. AMD know this was fake numbers. But they needed the first months on top to try sell their cards.... Yup. See... No PCIE Gen5 M.2 Slot is needed. This means the stupids at Asus implemented an useless feature for their only OC bords. Who want castrate some of the PCIe lines for their graphics cards for a feature you almost never will use on gaming and OC boards? Because Intel don't force you to do this stupidity. Shame on you... Asus. @Mr. Fox Whats wrong with some of todays engineers? Maybe I will buy a 4080 when the prices drop to $50-80 USD. But I will most likely never spend my money on a used AMD card. Has to be damn cheap. More like $30-40 bucks 🙂 Edit. If I was't banned from Cablemod reddit I would say he was a liar.... Sad that they prefer ban everyone that tell the truth. -

Anyone that have wondered why Intel quietly fused of AVX-512 functionality for their 12th gen Alder Lake, then 13th and 14th gen Intel mainstream processors? Most likely because that was the easiest fix. CPU VULNERABILITY Intel is said to have known about Downfall as early as 2018 Plaintiffs accuse Intel of having known about security problems five years ago, which ultimately led to Downfall. New Intel Downfall AVX2/AVX-512 Vulnerability & Its Huge...... Lawsuit Claims Intel Sold Billions of AVX-Enabled CPUs Knowing of Downfall Vulnerability A new class action suit alleges Intel sold billions of CPUs which it knew would be susceptible to an AVX side-channel attack, and complains the patch saps performance too much. End results.... An older 12th gen Intel Cpu with disabled baby-cores but with AVX-512 functionality activated can crush an 13/14th gen running full oc'd speed with all 24 cores. Isn't that disgusting? Top ranked 8 cores Cpu - Y-Cruncher Pi-1B https://hwbot.org/submission/5396871_sergmann_y_cruncher___pi_1b_core_i9_12900k_(8p)_12sec_945ms Fastest 24 core Intel with fused of AVX-512 https://hwbot.org/submission/5125390_luumi_y_cruncher___pi_1b_core_i9_13900k_13sec_938ms Almost 1 second faster in Y-cruncher Pi-1B with 16 less cores. And with AVX-512 enabled the cpu needed 600MHz lower clock speed. Again... That's disgusting. More cores but worse bench results. What a deal. I realy hate how Intel deal with their valuable customers. It should be up to the end-user if he prefer less secure system (if they prefer enable AVX-512 features in firmware). This Sunday's word for today has to be.....
