I'm hoping they aren't the only ones who will offer this model. Maybe look and see what XMG and a few others have to say. But if Eurocomm is the only one offering it....well it is what it is. 😭 I agree Eurocomm's track record wasn't great and it was an individual user who was trusted who took Prema's BIOS and abused it for his own gains along with the Eurocomm debacle. -

Eurocomm has announced a full Socket 1700 DTR: https://videocardz.com/press-release/eurocom-announces-raptor-x15-laptop-with-up-to-intel-core-i9-12900k-16-core-desktop-cpu Upsides: Full 12th gen support up to 12900k. My cool hand luke pulling ~150w full tilt at stock running CB23 20min loop would probably be right at home in this. Only 2x SO-DIMM slots. Less traces, less fuss, 12th gen runs best on two slots anyhow DDR4 support up to 3200....hopefully trhe BIOS is unlocked a bit Downsides: 15.6" form factor Looks to be BGA 3070ti Official thread started here: -

Can I adjust memory timings in BIOS? Does 13th gen work? Will 14th gen work?: Up until Dec 2024, there is no 13th gen or 14th gen support. There is also no BIOS level UV controls or memory tuning.Only chance of getting any of this is some Prema or Dsanke level BIOS adaptations and any and all work is kept private unlike the old days so don't hold your breath as the days of free and unfettered BIOS love for the sake of sharing and freeing systems out of passion has come to an end. Luckily, someone found a Hidden BIOS menu option to reveal many other options allowing you to get under the hood and do some tuning and posted it over here (Thanks @ecxedxrip!) What type of config CPU wise are you looking to use? You might want to look at SFF models that support water cooling too depending on CPU. -

It's good to know your GPU is running within operational parameters. CPU could be bad pairing, bad thermal application, bad silicon....all thee above. Hopefully Eluctronics will get you sorted out good and proper.

The 5800x was always the hottest running chip in their line up from day one unless you got a good sample. Some would confuse low Package Power with producing less heat when quite honestly at stock the 5800x is capable of putting out as much heat as some 12900k chips at stock. It's just that the 12900k is pulling 200-240w doing it while the 5800x is doing it 130-150w. And just like Intel, it is sensitive to heat when OCing and would take fairly high Vcore to push 4.7+ all core stress tests. I do remember using 1.4v for some tests. Overclocked, it could easily push into the 80s and low 90s even pulling ~150w max. Google temp issues with it and you'll see plenty trying to tame the heat and wondering why it is running so hot. On the plus side, 5800X3D is their better B2 stepping silicon and most likely binned so they do seem to be running cooler and pulling slightly less than B0 5800x variants. Even with 12th gen, let's face it. On the mobile front Intel is still the hot and heavy winner in mobile computing. Only difference is they actually win this time around in performance to go along with that hot and heavy. Cramming that in T&L chassis and end users get what they get when they select certain configs in those rail thin bodies. Looks like Alienware and MSI did it right this time around though with their gaming notebooks as 12th gen 12700/12800 and 12900 parts are putting up some very nice numbers single and multi-threaded. -

I'm thinking 5.3 all core, 5.6-5.7 single core boost. Like you said, unless their node process has gone through some major improvements I'm not seeing it especially having to add in more headroom for 8 additional e-cores. I would love to see a 10-12 P-Core only 13th gen chip. As for reviews, I've been watching them too and HWUs major fouls are limited selection of games tested along with failing to test the 12900k/ks with DDR4-3800 and limiting it to DDR-3200 when they gladly tossed in the 5800X3D with DDR4-3800 and DDR4-3200. He did say he is busy benchmarking a whole slew of games so I expect a much larger range and average in a future video as that is what they're known for. Hopefully he'll also throw in DDR4-3800 for parity along with the DDR5-6400 results. The general consensus seems to be overall subpar vs 5800x as just about every non game benchmark has it lagging behind, well, just about everything except the 5600x; locked down (except in a specific, Asus targeted outlier situation as shown by Skatter using the Shamino approach) and some games absolutely shine, some are the same or a few fps behind. It's a glorified gaming CPU upgrade that is hit or miss depending on games tested/played. The trade off is lower clocks and a higher price than a normal 5800x. -

Wow.... AMD: "We've taken a chip that was normally open to overclocking and originally a had much higher PBO on launch. They started dying so we then took that chip and neutered the PBO but feisty customers would just manually OC...now introducing its natural evolution locking it down in every way AND reducing stock clocks PnP BABY! Set and forget! Introducing the 5800X3D!" *Crickets* -
When I first ran my unit, it was getting CPU scores right around there with some throttling. I ended up having to go under the hood and fine tune it but it is better at this point to send it back so they can address the throttling issue. Your GPU score is right in line. What were your GPU temps after that run?
-
Awesome! So any other X170SM-G users can come in and between our two systems see how their unit should be running since we basically got the same scores at pure stock. GPU should be in the 60's c max CPU can hit 90s c TimeSpy Overall score should be in the 11000-11700 range CPU Score ~14k GPU Score ~11k If you get a chance, can you do a CB23 run too? Thanks!

Whew, glad I sold my new in box 3060ti for $620!! But in all seriousness... Crypto boom is over Many who sucked it up and paid higher prices for their gaming cards did already Next gen is on the horizon Tariffs expired EVGA is selling them (and many of their cards) marked down including the 12GB model for $999.99 directly too: https://www.evga.com/articles/01559/evga-stack-and-save-event/ Just about every card they have is in stock, ready to ship from the 3090ti on down except for their AIO model 3090ti's which aren't yet out. Availability stops at 3070ti. No lower tier models on the page. -

Like Intel, they had to respond with something instead of just admitting defeat for the moment and ride it out till their next gen product is announced. -
You are thermal throttling badly which is reducing your clocks. establish your best UV first and see if you can get rid of that throttling. If not, you might need to get in there and take a look at your thermal application and mounting pressure to make sure it is up to snuff. For thermal testing, make sure to set fans to max to rule out any ramping up issues as the X170 ramps up slowly and won't get to max or proper RPM before you get hit with thermal throttling.

It is kinda all over the map and you get the average which has it close but you have to go into the individual games and see what's going on. You get a game like CS:GO where performance regresses with the 5800X3D but then turn around and you get a massive outliers like this: Which really skews the overall average. This is AMD's turn to create a Frankenchip. It's their 11900k and it is going to be a very game specific to justify picking one up. If all you play is FC5 and BL3, it's apparently a killer chip but I'm going to want to wait and see more detailed benchmarks including 1% and .1% lows when it isn't sitting on that fuel injector of a cache because those low stumbles are deal breakers. -

5800X3D looks to be on average equal to the 12900k/ks for gaming (and obviously nothing else). It depends on the game(s) you play as there are some meaningful gains for each processor depending on game played. If your game already favored AMD it looks like the 5800X3D just kicks it up to the next level. If all I played was FFXIV (which seems to absolutely thrive on AMD hardware) at 1080 or 1440 and everything else I did wasn't multi-threaded dependent, I could see building out a 5800X3D rig. All my daughter's fiance plays is FF and is starting to ask about me building a moderate desktop for him to replace his aging laptop (4810 + 970m). He plays at 1080p and wants to go high refresh. Nice inexpensive MB, 5800X3D, AMD 6600 would be a sweet, little build that would be a substantial upgrade. In other words, the 5800X3D is going to be catered towards a very, specific demographic. Particular set of games that favor AMD, 8 core / 16 thread is more than enough for their normal usage, since it can't OC inexpensive MB, nothing time critical, smaller budget overall. Ugh, I think we both know my past PTSD with the USB issues..... -

True, seeing as the 5800X3D is aimed squarely at gamers that is where it will potentially shine but it will have to shine quite brightly to offset the overall performance loss in almost all other performance categories vs 12th. -

Well said Bro and I agree. 5800X3D early review numbers don't look too bad (actually quite good as presented) for 720p and 1080p gaming benchmarking, but this is one site so we will see in a few days when the embargo lifts and other sites churn out their numbers but it definitely seems to add a bit of punch. They do actually and they will need to bring overall value along with rasterization gains to 7000 series GPUs. We talk about AMD driver maturation, but Nvidia clearly made strides too with their drivers and the gains from his testing 10 months ago to now coupled with 12th gen are substantial. When he tested RKL, 10th gen was still champ but 5800x was the overall winner but that was before the AGEISA neutering began and coupled with SAM pushed it ahead of Intel. More importantly, the 3000 series "CPU overhead" issue @ 1080p was an issue but either that has been resolved, 12th gen is simply out muscling the issue or a combo of both has produced a massive performance delta that even surprised him. Before, we would see AMD win at 1080p, trade blows at 1440p and lose at 4k. Add a 6900xt to the mix at lower resolutions and SAM and it was even worse for Intel and Nvidia. Fast forward 10 months later and 12th gen plus 3000 series is the clear winner across all resolutions by huge margins. If I had pulled the trigger on a 6900xt to play with a week or two ago based upon previous assumptions and data like I was contemplating and then saw these new updated results (or just experienced them myself first hand), I would have been kicking myself in the keister while absorbing the sale loss on eBay or elsewhere as 6900xt's continue to tank in the used market and aren't really even moving new at $1199 and lower. I usually leave e cores on, but I'm going to disable them and re-dial in my 12900k then start the long process of manually dialing those 2x16GB DDR4 b-die sticks from @Mr. Fox -

Hardware Numb3rs is finally back and did an in depth test of 12900k vs 5000 vs 11th vs 10th for WoW. Conclusions? 12900k is a God chip for WoW and smashes every other chip badly including the 10900k 10900k is better overall than 5000 and 11th for WoW but nothing that is a game changer. Only upgrade path is to 12900k. E-Cores hurt performance greatly even in W11 for WoW as the schedule (hot garbage) can't prevent the main thread from drifting to e-cores Memory tuning results in massive gains using DDR5 (he is going to test DDR5 vs DDR4 soon) Coupled with the 12900k, 3090 beats the 6900xt at every resolution massively even with SAM enabled. I'll be passing on the 6900xt now as the 3000 series is the clear winner and I can't see a scenario where the 5800X3D can catch up with that massive gap in performance with its extra cache but you never know. 12900k vs all others: E-Cores off vs on: 12900k + 6900xt: 12900k + 3090: -
