Prema is only available on select models that were sold from Prema Partners. You could try contacting Prema directly for some help but the BIOS is not available for general distribution.

i7 = poorly binned i9. If you find some good silicon you can greatly increase your performance as the variance of 11th gen is pretty massive. The brief time I had an X170KM-G in the old forums, I popped in a cool hand luke and had no problems running CB23 with no throttling.

XMG as updated their BIOS for the "never say die" XMG Apex 15 Max and it now supports every 5000 series processor with the inclusion of the 5800X3D. https://bestware.com/en/xmg-apex-15-max.html While it is only powered with an integrated (boo!) 3060 or 3070, it is spitting out more fps than every other option for it:

How much are you willing to spend and what are your expectations? The Dom Platz look righteous though. I picked up a pair of Hynix sticks w/ heatsinks installed from gtz for sub $150 shipped because there is no way I'm dropping crazy money on DDR5 sticks this early in their maturation process. I did the same with DDR4 and DDR3 for the first few years after launch till they hit their stride then paid more. -

When the real results come out you are going to see on average stock for stock (let's say 3090ti FE vs 4090 FE) a 50-70% depending on situation is my estimation. Either way, like I said before, it is a beefy uplift. Massively to me is 2x faster or more which it is not which is usually reserved for every other generation comparison (IE 2000 vs 4000, 1000 vs 3000). Gigabyte has introduced their Waterforce version of the 4090 for a full 360mm AIO based card (non hybrid), but I find myself still liking the MSI Suprim X 4090 AIO hybrid for some reason lol along with the Colorful. Depending on AMD and market conditions, I still feel like the 4090ti is going to be coming sooner than later, but we will see. This time around the TI moniker will pack a serious punch. -
Depending on cooling method used and end goals, the severity varied. For joe user it wasn't enough of an issue to make it an official defect or problem. I've been running an Asus Z690 D4 for almost a year now with an AC LF II 420mm. I just took the CPU out the other day. Socket and CPU look fine, no problem but some have had issues with massive variance in thermal spread / pressure. When I eventually move this Z690 classified into the all EVGA build I do plan on removing the intel retention system and installing the 3rd party thermalright type retention bracket just because I happen to have 3 different models sitting here.

More like ~60% but that is still a pretty massive uplift. I'm equally interested in RT performance gains too. DLSS can kick rocks for all I care. Compared to your laptop 3060, almost anything in the desktop realm is a massive upgrade 3080 on up. -

If MSRP is $1599 and AIBs are averaging $1599 to $1999 so far, you can fully expect the 4090ti to be at least $1999.99 MSRP and prices ranging from $1999.99 to $2399.99. Only way this self corrects is if AMD comes in with the thunder at a great price and/or consumers simply don't buy for numerous reasons. Normal Joe Consumer who upgraded to a 3000 series during the Pandemic is going to skip the 4000 series. Only enthusiasts and those with money to burn upgrade each generation. 7950x sales are reported to be beyond lackluster so far so there's hope in this world wide downturn overall. As for Strix 4090: -

You might need to transplant and create your own build thread at this rate @Papusan! Just don't create a CROCS build thread please.... 🤣 -

Awesome and nice confirmation. I'm still sitting on a sealed Z690 Classified and those 2x16GB DDR5 M-die sticks I picked up from OCN. I'm too knee deep in Fallout 76 atm to break everything down have something go all cattywampus and I would need another CPU to set up the Classified in my test bench/case.....grrrrr. Am I talking myself into picking up a 13900k? 🤣 -
Everything is looking quite righteous brother! Are you contemplating an AMD 7900x or are you firmly with Nvidia?

Arc Alchemist on October 12 - who's gonna be our guinea pig?
electrosoft replied to Sandy Bridge's topic in Desktop Hardware
I've been running an Asrock A380 since launch.....I suspect A770 will do just fine. Drivers are still sus. Superposition still won't run right for benching. I use that to judge each release to see how Intel is doing with older(ish) benchmarks and DX. Intel is all in because it is also their long term iGX and top end technology strategy. The question is will they continue to use the technology to offer consumer grade GPUs. -

In reality none of us need an upgrade except @jaybee83 maybe but an upgrade is an upgrade when you want to have and use the newest out there. Practical? No but practicality goes out the window often when new toys are introduced. 🙂 I'm definitely not changing my GPU this cycle. I plan on extracting every last bit of value from it for the next 2-3 years. It has already logged massive hours (150hrs so far I think) playing Fallout 76 which is my new focus and it will log thousands more when WoW Dragonflight launches. Based on the limited Beta gameplay, people clearly complained about the subpar RT and 4k performance as I am getting much better fps than with WoW Shadowlands RT to max. As you know, I paid MSRP for my 3090KP and sold it for a profit 10 months after buying it. It logged some serious WoW miles on it too before departing. With EVGA kindness, I ended up getting the 3090Ti KP for actually less than I paid for the 3090KP overall. Funny thing KPE 3090 and KPE 3090ti were momentarily back in stock yesterday on EVGA for $1399.99 and $1999.99 but the few they had literally sold out within hours. One forum member had the KPE 3090ti in his cart trying to buy it but someone bought it before he could complete checkout.....savage. -

So we have @tps3443 going 13900kf.... @jaybee83 going 7950x and either 4090 or 7900... And I'm sure @Talon will be getting a 13900k and a 4090.... I'll completely be enjoying living vicariously through y'all for Q4/Q1 🙂 -

Isn't it awesome? If anyone is looking for 7950x's they're in stock at both Best Buy and Amazon. I'm going to sit back and let AMD, Intel and Nvidia go to war and casually walk through the darkened battlefield after the smoke clears and collect my spoils in Q1/Q2. -

EVGA also redesigned the Classified Z790 too. Looks like the consolidated form factors and build approach between the two for costs. https://videocardz.com/press-release/evga-announces-z790-dark-kngpn-and-z790-classified-motherboards -

Seeing as 7950x is just matching the 12900k ST basically, you know the 13900k is going to smash it ST but MT is where things are going to get real murky I agree. And I definitely am waiting till next year for any platform upgrades when the 13900KS / 7X00X3D variants drop. Before, I didn't put much stock into motherboard/platform longevity because MB prices weren't outlandish overall but with the way modern motherboard pricing has been, AMD has a point when you can keep the same platform/socket/motherboard and literally drop in CPU upgrades as needed. I know those former 1700x owners who dropped in a 5800X3D are giggling with glee. That Z790 KP MB warms the heart.... -

This is exactly how it is going to turn out. AMD? Intel? We all win since they are competing HARD against each other. Same with AMD vs Nvidia. I'm loving it. 🙂 -

That's a good idea to have a sub forum for build threads. They were (and are) one of my favorite parts of ole NBR and other forums where people document their whole process building out or doing outlier projects (like @srs2236 and his 3080 mod for his laptop). -
EVGA terminates partnership with NVIDIA
electrosoft replied to saturnotaku's topic in Desktop Hardware
I'm sure EVGA has had the bean counters pour over their sales with a fine tooth comb and a smaller, leaner EVGA with higher profit margins, no debt, cash on hand can decide what they want to do with their name brand. Clearly the Nvidia partnership is over and it wasn't worth the hassle anymore. I do hope they jump back into the fray and potentially hold onto Kingpin for future work. It now comes down to are GPU buyers that loyal to EVGA to abandon Nvidia and jump ship to AMD or just switch to another AIB. If I stayed with Nvidia, I'd go with Asus or MSI for their transferable warranties but I'm pretty irked at Nvidia atm. I am sure other AIBs are quietly sulking and watching how this plays out.
