  1. I thought the EXACT same thing! "WTH? Good luck with a P55 based system sale for that!" 😆 I love that Gigabyte has consistently stuck to their black and orange themes. Looks to be in great shape! GLWS.
  2. I went ahead and ordered one of those Asrock A380's to play around with. $150 shipped. I'm curious to see how it stacks up, temps, OC potential and more. It will go into my "Pile 'O Projects" queue. I'm sure it is a more than capable 1080p card which is where it will be tested on my Dell 144hz 1080p 25" test bench display.
  3. True a nice collector's item. Performance it is basically a very slightly faster GTX 1650 / RX 6400. It is priced appropriately for what it brings to the table @ $139.99. I remember my first real GPU accelerator was Rendition's Verite V1000 since we were hardcore (understatement) into Quake back in the day. When 3DFX dropped their Voodoo2 I upgraded to that and gave my V1000 to my little bro. Those were the days! 🙂
  4. lol, might make for a fun little card for which to play around and see how Intel drivers progress because it still seems a hot mess. 3000 and 4000 series beware! 😁
  5. 6900XT's were open to equal abuse as other cards for casual miners. Those who use them for personal use then set them to mine in the off hours especially when Eth and other cc's were very up.
  6. Yep, that's exactly what they're doing along with a flood of mining cards. I ask very specific questions and any GPU I would potentially buy has to have a warranty with it from the maker. I ended up just canceling a winning auction I won because I couldn't get clarity on the warranty status for a GPU. I'm not going to drop $500+ on a card that I'm pretty sure has been mined on more than indicated and not have some recourse 2-12 months from now when it goes belly up. The scams are pretty obvious when you get used to it. Some are just outright laughable. Yeah that price is finally trending down properly for what is probably the best made 6900 series card out there made. Good luck matching it to a motherboard design. Maybe an X570 or B550 Asrock Taichi Razer edition? One good thing is since it is "open box" it has a 30 day hassle free return policy for full refund or exchange if you don't like it.
  7. New listing on Newegg. "Open Box" ASROCK 6950xt.... ...."Limit 5 per customer" 😆 I can almost guarantee you these are new just marked down in Open Box fashion instead of outright lowering the price or putting them on sale.
  8. I've been keeping tabs on some 1tb nvme drives for my X170SM-G. I realize now playing FO76, WoW, D2, D3, DX and a few more, my days of efficiency can not be constrained to 512GB anymore. I upgraded my desktop finally to a 1TB 980 Pro and moved my old SN850 512GB into the wife's system to replace her SN750 512GB. eBay pricing is so perplexing. I've messaged many sellers telling them their used items are priced at or above new and/or make offers on some items and am told, "way too low," and when I point out new prices and how their prices are basically at new levels they just shrug......as those items have been sitting on eBay for weeks if not months now.
  9. It's getting closer and closer..... There was a +60 off code for that one too for a bit for $639.99. If only eBay sellers of 6900xt and 6950xt could accept reality and realize how much they are going new and adjust accordingly.
  10. Some of the utilities were free like Keyboard LED and ON/OFF fan max controls, but for the actual update utility for drivers and fan curve control you needed a license that was tied to the machine. I know the author abandoned it quite some time ago as people kept trying to circumvent the licensing and part of his code showed up in some sellers utilities or CC tools. He became rightfully disillusioned and moved onto another project.
  11. Anybody have recommendations on a good, solid inexpensive block for AM4? I'm going to go WC on the CPU and GPU for this build. Work out the build kinks / curve and have fun with a different build in every aspect.
  12. I loved my Athlon and FX systems many years ago. I used them till they got outdated and switched back to Intel who had regained the lead. I've used numerous ATI GPUs in the past and used an AMD 5700xt for a solid year no problems. I just wanted to go 4k. Laptop wise I used a pair of AMD 3000 and 4000 series cards in my Alienware M17. I also used a 6970m in one of them too no problems. 5800x was a disaster because of the USB issues and AMD slowly pulling back on boosts with subsequent Ageisa releases due to a combination of really no headroom and chips dying is my guess. Even with subsequent releases for USB issues, it came down to the individual AIBs to find solutions. That MSI X570 Tomahawk still gives me flashbacks... I've had a few Nvidia cards die on me both mobile and desktop. AMD seems to finally have gotten a leg up on their drivers architecture so we will see. FSR is a reality, DX11 has been extensively repaired. I'd agree each has their pros and cons but when one or the other happens to have repeatedly Tybalted your Mercutio you in your situation, you tend to be wary.... 😄 I'll probably never use another MSI AMD based board ever again.
  13. I've set my price at $600 for a 6900xt (or a touch more for a top end specialized model). I'll slowly amass the pieces I want for my son in law's build. In the meantime he is renting a system from rent a center which I didn't even know rented PCs? I'll have to get over to their place and check it out and see exactly what they're offering up as a, "gaming" PC.
  14. When Linus thinks that HS is "beefy".....you know the laptop market has shifted irrevocably..... He does acknowledge that with Nvidia and all their mobile GPU specs that cooling matters and now as a consumer you need to be cognizant of the cooling too not just the model listed. He makes fun of a lot of things but how they Jay Cutler'd his mug on the back of the lid is hilarious.
  15. LOL! There was no chance of me wanting to buy any of that stuff. I just wanted to see if the would sell out their allotted stock and they did so cards are moving. All that showed up was B-tier (or worse) cards for the shuffle no A-tier stuff (Strix, Master, FTW3, etc...). Look on the bright side. When your time window expired, they sent the offer to the next open slot on the list. 🙂
  16. As a test, I queued up for what I deemed the worst card and the best card (6600 and 3080ti) just to see what would happen with no intentions of purchasing either. I predicted the 6600 was a shoo in but the 3080ti was the real test to see if they would move at that price. I figured they would sell out quickly. As predicted, I was "selected" for the 6600 but not the 3080ti which means they had more queue ups than cards for however many 3080ti's they were trying to move at $833 after shuffle "rebate."
  17. The only "decent" price in there is the Asus TUF 3080ti for $833.00 as it is well below MSRP ($1299 and even below $1199 FE pricing).... ....but seriously I saw it pop up in my email and I looked down at my date/time to make sure I hadn't time jumped to last year
  18. Newegg Shuffle has started! (LOL!) I'm sure many who enter will "win!" Basically if you win you get a code that gives you a bigger discount than listed.... (!) I'm sure Newegg is feeling the backlash after the crapton of combo deals they forced down buyers throats via the Shuffle for well over a year. Now given a choice people are looking elsewhere or sitting tight:
  19. I ran a 9900ks in my P870TM1 and even early testing before getting in there and, "doing the work," didn't have it throttling down that bad. It erratically down clocks more and more consistently over the run. That's what drew my attention. 🙂 If it was just clocking up and down above let's say 3.5ghz to 4.8/5.0 I'd focus primarily on thermals. Having seen my fair share of VRM failures, VRMs tend to seesaw between peak and non-peak but usually don't seesaw while consistently down clocking to the point they ended. Testing even on a cheap mainboard with zero VRM heatsinks, when you put a high end CPU in there it will take on a certain cadence after they overheat but tend to not trend downward during that cadence. Are the VRMs not making contact at all? His clocks end up dipping sub 2ghz at the end. Maybe it's all of thee above. 🙂
