Installed the 3090ti and it's a beast. It's also crazy power hungry, lol.  I did undervolt it to keep the clocks at 2000MHz but using 100W less.  I think it's going to be a fun card to play with.

I also got my green sticks and they are installed, just got to find some time to play with them.

Take care, rest up and get well soon… therapeutic as I’m sure some would find learning a light language such as Norwegian 😉

3090ti's are hot and heavy but they are beautiful especially EVGA last hurrah. In my heart I wanted to keep my KPE 3090ti but I just couldn't justify the performance discrepancy at the price I paid.

Get some pics up when you can. 🙂

Yikes, speedy recovery @Reciever.  Flu can be brutal and when it sends you to the hospital, your body is telling you to nip it in the bud ASAP.

You have a 3090Ti KP?

I’d like to buy a brand new one, or non delidded one. It’s gonna run on an AIO for now. I have heard a shipment of new retail KS are coming in-stock next week, apparently the stock in China/ and Malaysia has already replenished. I didn’t think Intel was shipping anymore, but I guess they are 🤷‍♂️

Ah, ok that makes sense. I'm just so used to you delidding everything that a pre-delidded CPU would be no problem. If they restocked, that makes it easy to just wait and pick one up.

I thought for sure I was going to at least need to delid this one but the temps are just fantastic with the EVGA CLC 280mm. Fans don't even go to max running full tilt 5.6/4.3 all core even 10min test CB23 temps topped out at 76 so I'm set for the SFF incoming build.

Err, they are slimmer and presumably lighter than the chungus-class 4090s..... As for hot, 66C at a bit under 200W, 32C ambient (hello global warming), and fans at 1100RPM/30%, is not bad, right? :)

Just saw a 3090Ti FE scalped on Amazon (with Prime delivery lol) at £1950, roughly $2500. Seriously regretting not grabbing two back when they were available from Nvidia for less than £1100, don't remember exactly.

Wow.....

So they're going to be a peripherals and PSU maker only sooner than later? Much better profit margins but still to see them leave the GPU market then this video gives the impression they are done with the motherboard market too. 😞

I've kind of unofficially switched to MSI or ASUS (in that order) but just a sad day as EVGA has been my preferred brand since 2005 and my first, big purchase from them with for a 7800GTX (my rig) and 6600 (brother's rig). I was actually building out an Athlon 64 X2 4800+ to go along with my AMD FX-60 build at the time.

FTW3 3090ti and KPE 3090ti were things of beauty but time moves on. On the other hand, I'd take a 3090ti over a 4070ti priced similarly even if it is much larger and sucks down much more power just for the 24GB of vram alone. I watch the prices on Fleabay as I wouldn't mind picking up a cheap 240/280 AIO model (EVGA or Asus) to install in my wife's system to replace her Strix 3080 10gb as all that heat spilling into her not so well ventilated EVGA DG case is a mini furnance. I would prefer to dump it out the top. She doesn't want to give up her EVGA case. She loves it.

lol....chungus-class. 🙂

Somewhat depends on what you need the card for. 4090 is the better card on average (highly dependent on the use case: 0-1.8x faster), with a clear win in gaming, not least because of gamer-oriented software gimmicks, not made available on Ampere in order to force upgrades. That said the dimensions are a serious snag for multi-GPU setups, as - once again - is the lack of NVLink. I can totally imagine NVidia doing this on purpose in an attempt to sell more of those ridiculously overpriced A6000s, and prevent people from stacking multiple cards for gaming instead of overpaying for new models.

Yes I would love to do a mini ITX build, I may or may not go that route. For now it’s gonna be just air cooled or AIO.  I absolutely prefer the performance and power usage of a KS over a regular K. Man I can only hope they do come in stock. The KS has always been tricky to find, I don’t even think Best Buy sold them.

KS is really so much better than the normal K, and that’s not said enough even in the reviews. 🙂

I finally got around to putting this together. My office looks like a cyclone hit it. Obviously tore up my work computer for the rebuild and sale of old parts and everything is piled up in a huge rat's nest of fans, cables, tubing, fittings, LOL. Makes me feel crazy right now. I hate messes. I can't think straight when things are disorganized. I hope I don't have to wait too long for the be quiet! case to get here. No sure how long I can function with the mess and only one computer for work and play.

No worries, been sleeping since when ever that post was made. It appears I was also down 4L of fluids. I had about 320oz of water that day so I'm a little confused about that. The whole experience has left me unable to walk (general weakness, but coming back over time)

That's truly amazing. The photo-realism is actually scary. It is difficult to tell it is not a video recording. Running it on Ultra 4K preset (my screen is 2560x1440) really taxes the 4090. It's running between 60 FPS and 90 FPS with all of the settings maxed out. Thanks for sharing the link to the demo, bro.

Sorry to hear you have been under the weather too. Seems like my prayer list is getting longer lately. You're on it now, too.

And, then there is this... ¡Ay, Chihuahua! Review will follow soon.

@tps3443you need a couple of these bad boys.

Nice M.2! But I am almost certain my current drive is capable of the same speeds when it was fresh and empty the last time I ran a disk benchmark 🤷‍♂️. I believe it’s 7100/6800. I have two of those Corsair M600 Pro XT Hydro’s. I was thinking those Gen 5’s do like 10K+ no?

I just tried the demo I was getting 1.6fps lowest settings dlss on balanced. just plain dumb. I have no idea why its so demanding, a plaugues tale requiem looks just as good.

Is this Plague tale built in benchmark? I haven’t played that game much at all. Maybe 30 minutes about a year ago, and got too busy to enjoy it. I’ll try it again.

It might if I put it in the ASUS Gen 5 card running at x8 when inserted that in the other x16 slot and let it rob my CPU of x16 bandwidth. But, yeah, no, that's just not gonna happen, LOL. Not interested in running my 4090 at x8 Gen 5. I am perfectly  happy with a Gen 1 NVMe running 1.2K. Anything beyond that is just SSD benchmark fluff IMHO. And, I am just happy they are running at that speed without leeching anything off the GPU.

ohhhhhh!!!! That’s exactly why. I know I remember this now. Couple months back I was on the Newegg site when the Gen5 M.2’s were first dropping and I researched this and I came to the exact conclusion that you did. I’m not running X8 to my GPU. I forgot all about this 😂

One thing too though is, your 4090 on Gen5 at X8 is the same bandwidth as X16 Gen 4.0 which is what your Z690 Dark was providing I think 🤔 I’m not sure, I’d have to see that first hand though before I would run x8 4.0 or x8 5.0 to my GPU, just to have a monstrously fast M.2

Anyways, how is the Z790 Apex? Is it solid? Working well for you?

Edit. Life don’t always treat all and everyone ecual.

Not at all, we just do the best we can.
