AMD/Microsoft just don't want polaris users to play newer modern games with older HW if they prefer Windows (works on Linux). Even if the game experience will be bad.... I thinks Mr. Azor would say (sarcasm).... Please buy our new very expensive RDNA3 GPUs but don't expect magic vs previous gen RDNA2 Radeon cards. But if you buy our newer gen cards, we can grab out some profits and you are able to get newer drivers... We spend less time make "drivers for older gen graphics cards" only to let you get the best experience with our new cards. So please buy our newest and more expensive cards even if the performance gain is minimal. You all will with this help AMD and me stay relevant and this will help me pay my bill's.

Happy Birthday brother @Mr. FoxI hope you enjoy your day. I would love for all of us to have a virtual meeting one of these days, to talk tech and family.

Thank you both, very much.

We should do a virtual meeting sometime. That would be good. I bet I spend 20 hours (at least, sometimes more) a week in Google Meetings at work, and video chat is the nearly exclusive means of internal communication, even for one-on-one conversations. I find using a cell or desk phone inconvenient at this point.

Not so sure 60% premium above already disgisting price is so much better if you walk with the Green side of products. They both offer little; Pay a lot.

Galax walks their own way.  RTX 4090 HOF Edition for only $2579 or 60% premium over vanilla 4090. If you are lucky maybe you may find a custom water block later that will fits to exchange the fans. Then you’ll see the +$3000 price tag. On top... Forget getting their "special" OC tools who is only aviable for the elite benchers/the choosen one. You get the HW but not the needed toools.

GALAX launches its beefy and over-the-top 666W RTX 4090 HOF Edition for $2579

Everything from AMD and NVIDIA is a poor value. The cheapest 4090s and 7900 XTXs available sell for $500-$600 more than I believe they are worth.

XX90 should never been introduced. All too expensive because you get capped silicon. Should be xx80Ti and 20GB vram for 1199$. Or with inflation on top at 1299$. Minimum $300 cheaper than today. This would be more acceptable. They could offer Titan branding instead for xx90(Ti) for those that want or need prosumer cards with +24GB vram and full fat die for their workflow.

Would def be great. In this particular case we are close to zero risk risk of people being malign impostors etc. Thankfully, I haven't witnessed Mr Fox claiming to be a hot 18 year old lol. From the early days of public Internet, I have found that "virtual" camaraderie can actually carry over to RL exceptionally well. I mean if you have so much in common with people to talk with them basically every day on a range of topics, that's an indication of a pretty strong affinity. I'm down for any such events, including occasional gaming sessions, although a fair warning is in order: I was a pretty competitive FPS gamer prior to taking a necessary leave of absence (that's said I'm using a trackball now, it's part of the addiction therapy).

What's pretty cool as well, is that we have been having some "bold" adult side conversations off-topic, which haven't really blown up or in resulted in disappointing knee-jerk moderation, my point here being that NBT>NBR and getting better. Credit to bro @Reciever for keeping his head straight in presence of some of the posts there.

It's always nice to be appreciated, though I imagine I will brush against everyone at some point. :D

It's not like we have to worry about advertisers or corporate interests, so we have the freedom to judge each post in context and on the merits. Some of the mods also gave me some pointers as I made a few mistakes in engaging criticism early on. Very thankful they are willing to help in their spare time as well as @Hiew for basically dropping all free time he had to build up the forum. We just recently hit our 1 year milestone!

I don't like how everything has become so tribal in discussions on various topics. It's tedious and labor intensive but I'm willing to walk that line in the hopes that the conversations that take place hold some value for those involved and those that witness it. My only fear is I don't know how long I can sustain that type of moderation if this forum were to continue growing, but for now and the perceivable future it is my intent.

What was your flow rate before and after?

Whew, imagine a 4090 in that loop. 🙂

Not really sure lol. I have a flow meter but it’s wayyy wrong lol. So I don’t have it hooked up anymore. (3) D5’s at 100%. It’s lots of flow haha! Shortest runs possible on my tubing, I even raised my chiller up off the ground bringing it closer to my test bench.

Have a look at this video playing the new dead space 2023. Crazy temps. Just insane! What’s funny is, this is with the 1KW bios full OC, so regardless of power usage it runs like 3-5C hotter than the normal 520 watt KP bios (I guess just due to board voltages being higher etc)

15C coolant. (I have never had temps this amazing.. It’s mind blowing for real!) Adding that 3rd D5 made such a massive difference. I’m gonna add the 4th D5 when it arrives next week lol

Anyways, man I’m really getting in to the new Dead Space 2023!! Fantastic so far, and the 3090KP is just kicking tail in 2023 😂

The way things are changing, I don't know if there will be anything left to overclock much longer. Seems like there is a push to turn PCs into little more than severely overpriced glorified DIY game consoles from both the hardware and OS side of things.

So many happy birthdays, I gotta do one too!

Happy Birthday @Mr. Fox

I appreciate your assistance with the past 3 laptops I have owned. While I haven't been with this community too long, I believe your knowledge and experiences have helped many people throughout the years, and I can't wait to see what the future holds.

I am also looking forward to learning from you a bit more in the near future. I finally pulled the trigger on that P870TM, and my goal is to make it as good as possible. I feel quite obligated to do so; it's the last good laptop ever created lol, so I must end with a bang as my days of primarily needing a laptop are limited. It's been quite a ride starting with the Alienware and climbing my way up, even if I've been a few years too late for every laptop I have bought since.  I'm glad to know everything I do and feel honored to know that a large chunk of that knowledge has come from you, so thank you man! It really does mean a lot.

I have always enjoyed helping people and while I have not been involved with laptops for a long time I am happy to provide whatever tips and helpful information I can. Congratulations on the P870. I agree that it was the last good laptop made. I also still believe it is overall the best laptop ever made. Everything produced since then has been an overly compromised piece of garbage.  I had a lot of fun with laptops for a lot of years for sure. I can honestly say that I do not miss them at this point. That said, I wouldn't trade the good memories and experiences I had with any of my monsterbooks.

Looks like a game I might like. Cool that it was released on my birthday. I generally don't buy games until they drop to around $20-$25 so I will be waiting for a while for that to happen. I liked the previous Dead Space games, but lost interest and quit playing them before I finished them.

Those were the best. And I never got a chance to own one. Only the smaller P750 😞 I don’t use or have any interest in windows laptops anymore though especially since they are all primarily disposable now with BGA. And If I’m gonna have something BGA. It’s a 13” MacBook (Which is what I use on the go). You can’t exactly slow down the OS, and their M1 silicon is pretty darn good! 100% performance plugged in or unplugged with no fans.

Anyways, yes this game is a blast for sure. I never played any of the previous ones. $60 dollars for a game is expensive and I normally buy cheaper games my self. But so far it’s worth it. I have not sat down and played a single player game for much longer than a few minutes in a long time without losing interest fast. They never hold my attention. But this game seems to do the opposite.

So I've been playing with my two MSI Liquid Suprim X 4090s this evening for 3-4hrs... the Best Buy one is definitely worse than the Newegg one I picked up and will be going back ASAP. I'm more than good with the Newegg one.

Best buy one = worse boost clocks, worse OC, worse memory OC by a mile, insane coil whine like my bud's Suprim X aircooled model (which at least boosts ~2790 stock).

I know it is only guaranteed to hit 2625mhz out of the box but wow.....Feels like my first KPE 3090 out of box clocks all over again on the Best Buy one. For stock, out of the box gaming they're both doing as a 4090 should do but the overclock difference and coil whine is very distinct.

Both cards w/ fans 100%, Slider to max (10% (!) ).

Both cards hitting MSI Vbios power limit of ~530w

12900k e cores are off, clocks synced to 5.3 all core.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

New Egg: (No coil whine till >200fps and then very minor)

Out of box game clocks = 2820-2835

Max Mem +1500 (+1575 for benching with some mild artifacting. >+1575 = twinkle city and crash)

Max GPU +225

Max reported clock = 3060 w/ OC

Max board power draw = ~533w

Max temp = ~57c

Hot spot = ~73c

Mem = ~60c

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Best Buy: (Screaming banshee even at 100fps....holy terror at >200fps)

Out of box game clocks = 2700-2715 (?)

Max Mem +700 (+750 for benching with some mild artifacting. >+750 = twinkle city and crash)

Max GPU +150

Max reported clock = 2875 w/ OC

Max board power draw = ~533w

Max temp = ~58.5c

Hot spot = ~75c

Mem = ~62c

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here is the Newegg card in action:

Was looking at some of the old NBR people, and was wondering where they are? Iunlock? Phoenix? Does Prema come in much?

Haven't seen iunlock, Phoenix tried to make his own NBR but the techs screwed up and he lost all the effort and gave up shortly after, haven't seen him on the forum yet. Both are welcome of course!

Prema has an account but doesn't post a whole lot, he did drop by to say Hi though :)

YOU GUYS NEED TO GRAB IT ON STEAM!!

@Mr. Fox happy birthday!

I have always liked the Dead Space franchise. Sounds like it might be pretty good. Might have to check it out.

This is almost as a defective product. Or just say what MSI is able to throw out (Bad QC or just greed). If this is what MSI say is a binned product and want premium on top. No thanks. But your Newegg SKU is more the normal and what to expect for binned products. Slightly better vram than what I had. But all in all... Disapontment products from Msi. And in line with my experience with MSI graphics cards. Thanks for the testing brother. This just confirm my feelings about MSI🙂
