How much did you gain in terms of temp ?

In one screenshot it’s at the beginning of a render with a spike temp of 95c, with the cpu fan full blast it’s pretty steady at 86c @150w, and that’s with ~96 undervolt.

PL1 is at 150w and PL2 is at 240w

@Jaggy84 I would drop the PL2 to 220w mate personally, also what have you set the TAU at as thats normally a 56 second window and i would up that to 128 seconds or higher.

I understand that but compared to what stock was what was the gain ?

TAU is currently at 56, I’ll adjust it.

@Jaggy84 It just means it says in PL2 longer

@Sydneyblue The gain is a 100+ points in CineBench but its an increase and it needs fine tuning too. As for temps can't really know as the last run jaggy did was in Entertainment mode.

Yeah, I wish I had a more scientific approach, but now that I’m on my to actual seeing gains, it’s too far into upgrades within properly recorded data.

But down the line if I’m really curious, I still have my old radiator, I could test things out with original settings, but we’ll see.

Well thats it im finally broke my machine. i bent couple pins on the motherboard putting it back together. I can invest anymore time on this machine. I listed it on ebay for a major loss but i hope someone can make good use of it. THe gpu works along with everything else might be missing some screws. https://www.ebay.com/itm/304356777839

About Prema mod, here a statement from XMG. XMG has a beta program for XMG Neo 15 with prema mod and people ask for Ultra 17.

Quote

The Prema Mod for XMG ULTRA 17 (E21) was in the works but was ultimately put on hold due to insurmountable differences in the control of 2DPC (Dual DIMM per Channel) with SO-DIMM in the Rocket Lake platform. Works great with desktop DIMM, but rather bad than good with SO-DIMM. Prema Mod for XMG ULTRA will therefore no longer be available from us this year.

And about Benchmarks. Max. CB23 score i ever reached, was 15435 points. PL1 to 200 watt, offset -100mv. All with i9-11900K + liquid metal. But its all the time in thermal throttling. Max. power without throttling over a long time is on my X170KM-G around 175 to 180 watt (ambient related).

For lower SSD temperatures i installed SSD cooler. Works great!

I fee like a idiot

No need to feel like an idiot, it can happen to anyone. Now if its the CPU socket pins you can gentally bend them back into place so long as you haven't broken the pin.

Heck you don't really need to replace the mainboard you can get someone to desolder the old socket and replace it with a new one.

I take it you dropped the CPU into the socket a bit too hard.

Your best bet is to take a photo of the issue for us nerds to look at for you.

I definetly aprecitate the help 🙂

I gave it a go today and decided to try and see if one ram stick would post and it did. I put both sticks under the key board and and posted and i would apear is fully functional with duel channel working. I think at this stage im not going to touch it anyone as my confidance is very low. I would say i got lucky. I sleeped like shit last night because i couldnt beleive what i done. Thanks for the words of encouragement.

On a side note this is the second time i damaged pins. The first was when i was learning how to put a AIO on my AMD phenom 2 and decided to remove the cooler dead cold. I ripped the cpu still socket down and damaged the pins. Weirdly enough the CPU still worked with only 2 Dimm slots working. I was still able to overcock that chip and use it. THis was a huge learning experience and alot of good came out of it. So im hoping this can be the same.

What would you say that would cost to desolder the socket and repalce it ? I know the mother board itself is 600+

@electrosoft @solidus1983 I finally got around to doing a CB23, but decided to just run it with TS, here's some screenshots:

Screenshot (32).png

Looking better, but you're still throttling either power, heat or both. A 10900k should score 16000+ in CB23 at stock.

Here is my ZtecPC binned 10900k tested on my desktop board while I zoned in its ranges for optimal undervolting. At pure stock, 214w. It could handle an undervolt to -90 and would pull ~196w max in my X170SM-G before I replaced it with a better binned chip that pulls ~180w max. I would be curious to see how your chip is on a desktop to get an idea of its characteristics to dial it in for laptop use.

Its bad enough one of the ram slots under the back cover doesnt work but the 2 slots under the keyboard work. So as it stands right now i have a working machine. I dont have pictures i should of taken then but i was in a state of WTF did i just do mode sorry about that guys.

I could just leave it alone because it is working in duel channel. I was too aggressive when taking it apart. Now i need to repalce the screws for the heatsink as they got a little stripped thats a lie alot stripped 😕 but i can get them out and in but they are not very tight in.

HID said they have to check with there vendor for heat sink screws. Eurocom has them for 8 dollars but it says shipping is 49 so i dont think im going to do that. Im checking with XMG to see if they can sell me screws for the heatsink and a complete set of thermal pads unless i missed something where ican buy thermal pads from amazon or something. Im considering buying a new board because this is my only machine and them i would mail the old board out for repear and sell it on ebay at a refurb discount or soemthing

Updated 2/16 How do these look https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06WWDT6RC/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A28VADU4WUGJ11&th=1

Currently using 1mm and 1.5mm right now but not 100% sure if thats the right sizes myself its best to do what meaker told me which is to get a mix of them so 0.5mm 1mm 1.5mm and 2mm and then just test fit the whole lot and look for compression and markings on the pads.

What pads are you using ?

Thats a great idea though doing a dry run to see if they are making contact. What sizes are the smaller ones .5mm ? and larger is 2.5mm ?

I think im going to try and see how much HID would sell me a board maybe it would be cheaper then Eurocom.
