Ack, so it looks like Prema is DOA for the X170KM-G then??

Good thing we got the SM model buddy.

I had a feeling this would happen, so I didn't bother waiting for the KM. I do wish we had 11th Gen support on the SM though. A binned 11900K in our zTecpc models would be a beast!

So true.

For a fleeting moment there I had both the SM and the KM but having used the SM already for a few months the KM was so locked down and problematic I had to send it back. I figured I'd wait till they worked out some more of the kinks with the BIOS, memory slots and get Prema going but I think they've moved on for the most part which would be a shame if it is left as is.

I agree; the icing on the cake would be a last Prema update with 11th gen enabled or a Dsanke level BIOS for the SM and KM.

I tend to agree at this point with the KM even though it is still dissapointing of the lack of support that was promosed when i bought it.

On a personal note i have it working 95% of what i want out of it which is on par with my OLD MSI GT73VRE TITAN. Even with Damage to the socket i still get duel channel with the slots under the keyboard.

My only real complaint is the lake of technical knowledge from resellar HID. I feel they should know more about the unit and how to trouble shoot better. When i sent my laptop to them back 6 months ago because it was having graphic issues and massive fps drops i am disapointed that they didnt check if it was caused by using a external monitor which i was able to replicate doing my own trouble shooting. I have to say if i was to buy again i would of got a x17 from dell. As of right now i would totall sell this thing just to get rid of it and just build a new desktop as the DTM is dead now which is a shame

Agreed, the icing on the cake was the socket damage. 😞

So in its current state two of the four memory channels work and you still get artifacting externally but not on the internal panel?

Actaully 3 slots work and 2 work in dual channel under the keyboard.

As for Graphics Once and while i get a major display driver crash. Lately im getting the screen going black then coming back on. That could be a HDCP issue. THis things doesnt like using a external monitor but have found some sork arounds

Although it sounds scary, the likely thing has happened.

1)  Clevo or XMG forgot to sign the .efi bios file.
2) The .efi bios file was edited after it was signed thus broke the signature.

Either way the system should still work fine but every time you boot from cold or even resume from sleep your going to get the same error popping up.

So i would suggest you don't flash the bios and wait for XMG to resolve the issue before flashing it, If you have flashed the bios downgrade the bios back to V1.07.07 to overcome this error

Why does the Screen have no HDCP ?  lol I can view certain content

It might be due to SGX not being enabled in Bios as intel has scrapped Intel SGX which is required for HDCP.

It was removed so say from 11th gen (Corrected), also removed in Windows 11 too.

So it might have been removed from bios, don't have access to X170KM-G nor the tools as that is on my M.2 drives so i can't check right now.

I did read that also but this has to do with the screen itself when i use a external monitor that supports HDCP it works fine.

Could be due to the HDMI using Nvidia GPU to get the HDCP? i know EDP is Display Port, but then that should also have HDCP too.

I didn't have this myself when i had a secondary monitor attached to mine, might be time to go hunting for what ever is causing that issue.

Might the Matrix screen saver causing the issue as the stock windows  works fine

That is strange indeed, its a possibility that screensaver could be the cause but even the standard one would be using the DGPU so very very unsure to be honest.

@Sydneyblue Well i am now laptop less as well, took CPU out of socket to clean and have bent pins, so its getting collected tomorrow by PCSpecialist to be repaired. See i told you not to feel stupid it happens to us all.

Not sure how i bent the pins however i have to pay labour for them to bend them back if they can or £350 for a new mainboard.

So on my R61e again for 3 weeks.

How you making out with your machine ? Did you hear anything back ?

After DPD managed to do their job, it got collected and PCS now has it. Its now in processing however no reports back, but it is upto the Techs weather or not they class it as CID (Customer Induced Damage), to weather i have to pay for a new mainboard if its required, I have been frank with them and told them what i did with the system before hand, honesty is best policy. They have a 3 Week time line for RMA's right now so i have to put up with a stupid Xbox One for now and i can safely say i can't wait to get my laptop back.

Thanks for asking though.

Ouch, yeah never do that till it does the second flash, your lucky in how it is setup for bios flashing as the first flash is to flash the boot block and the recovery bios part with any ME updates whilst the 2nd flash is to flash everything again fully.

Hi, i had my first shutdown since 10 months with my clevo 11900k ,3080 (165watt)

it happened while gaming as the cpu and gpu ran full power at approx. 145 tdp for both.

The gpu sits always at 75 celcius  and cpu at 99-100 celcius.I suspect the cpu is overheating  despite fans at maximum

I repasted with grizzly but i can not bring the heat down from the cpu

is this normal ? what are your temps at full power?

i am on 1.07.04 and ec is 1.07.02 ,oc mode is turned off always.

i dont think a bios upgrade would be helpful or ?

Thanks in advance

Ps:at entertainment mode,i have maybe 5 percent less fps but cpu is at healthy 90 degrees

I  take it happened whilst on Performance Mode in CCC? EC 1.07.03 was stable for me and Firmware 1.07.07 was also stable for me. However 100c might have been what cause the power down in first place.

Not sure what game your playing but yeah for an i9 11900K i would stick to Entertainment mode whilst gaming with max fans on. Also rise the angle of the laptop up slightly to allow fresh air underneath.

But for sure repaste it does sound it needs.

thank you for your reply

yes ,it happened at performance mode and i think the culprit is the overheating cpu --i think i have to accept that there is no cure about it beside maybe an extra notebookcooler underneath

Entertainment has a lower PL2 limit to that of Performance in CCC

For example my i5 11400 in entertainment mode has a PL2 limit of just 119w for 28 seconds, whilst in performance it shoots to 154w for PL2 for 28 seconds, i would think your i9 11900K would have a higher PL2 limit in performance mode then 154w.

Yes a Notebook cooler will help (Hint its how i am 1st in my spec range on 3dmark), however tweaking the PL2 and even undervolt will be the only way to tame that CPU. To undervolt you need to have OC mode enabled in the bios.
