wonder. Dunno about Dreamcolor cable, but while I was figuring out pin outs, I learnt there are at least two ways to drive brightness control in eDP screens: using AUX channel or PWM output from board.
I think Aetina may not have it implemented, though. It is advertised for PC boards, no ?

So you're telling me, HP cards are superior in terms of eDP? My screen is pure-eDP, 120Hz, will all the RTX Turing from HP work?

@nforce4maxyou also said you got an RTX Turing card to work on your M6800 with eDP with an HP card. Which version? C, D?

Did anyone have any success in getting the Pascal generation working stable?  I see the best Maxwell for the 8750W is probably 965M "A" with the standard heatsink or 980M "B" with the 8770W sink. Can the architecture run on LVDS screens anything newer?  Plan to order the 980 most likely.

Yes, compact workstations only. So most probably the brightness control is not available because of that. Contacting the manufacturer wasn’t successful. If I’ll manage to repair the card (currently core is shorting during boot), then I’d look into the issue deeper.

Anyway, back to the topic. Is there a possibility to get a spare laptop from abroad? Just can wait to finally see that old beast with the new screen. Good luck with the search!

Yes, it worked, but it is currently not in my device

Hello. I tested an RTX 3000 on my laptop and it worked. any RTX 3000 with HP/Dell bios works on eDP. So it means RTX 4000 and 5000 will work for my laptop.

Is the RTX 3000 HP DP_C? Correct? The 4070 from X-VISION is DP_D. I got no display from it other than external outputs.

Cable ready! Now waiting for spare 8570w = ) unfortunately, I had lost another auction..

(Those not connected cables aren't needed)

That's seriously awesome! Would love to replicate it for 8560w, seems logical and 100% compatible.

Funny those old laptops are more modular than modern modular brands. Great laptops really.

Anyone tried these adapters for 2230/2242 nvme to expresscard 34? :classic_huh:

Kind of makes sense for hotswap storage or test system drive, hopefully not at 2.5Gbit speeds of Expresscard

I have and hotswap works however expect an blue screen once in a while. The performance isn't great being pcie 1x at 2.0 but still handy for moving files on/off much older laptops while serving as extra storage. The adapter itself could be better when it comes to build quality.

Has anyone got the DVD pinouts for the 5v rail for a second fan or would the current solution to run a JST "y" lead and connect into current CPU fan so both run (however how will both Tacho?) plus theres also the question on how much amps that line can take. Albeit academic when were dropping 100W+ GPU boards in......

You have to use hot air station and buy some mosfets - preferably 6 if you want to be perfectionist (I'm not sure what mosfets are used on your GTX).

From my older thread:

"Above two big inductors there's added 220nF capacitor, two other red circles are added 3 additional mosfets 87350D - one for every phase. "

Mosfets you can buy; capacitor you can find on practically most laptop motherboards after Core 2 Duo era (220 is written on them).  Check for correct position ofc and have fun : ) For standard 120W vBios it's more than enough - it makes VRM run more efficiently, stably and cooler.

on the 980M card,  The photo isnt clear, what is the orientation of the 220nF (assume 16v range also) and the mosfets.  I'm ordering both just dont want to solder on upside down.  is the hot air station necesary if you have relatively fine solder point and good hands?

You leave the tacho for the main fan. The second needs three wires to run according to the main fan.

8740w - DreamColor 2 | 920XM | GTX 980M 8GB | 32GB | MX200 mSATA 500GB + 7K1000 | 6300AGN | W10P64 | 350W | MX Master 3s | MX Keys S | ZR30w | Z-5500 | G29 + shifter
8740w - testbed

Thanks for clarifying, so it would be a 3pin JST rather than a 4 pin to replicate (red/black/yellow) to secondary fan then. Sorry for all questions, just looking to ensure i order correct part and then lose the 4th wire.

I don’t know the colors of yours, but most likely red/black/white, yellow is usually for Tach.
