  1. I have a 13900KS to test out against my 13900K. It has some big shoes to fill. It’s not my chip. But it will fun seeing how it compares. I just finished delidding it.
  2. I’m thinking probably Nvidia RTX laptop users will stream Netflix/YouTube/other services on their laptop. With Edge or Chrome browser it’s going to upscale everything to 4K using GPU tensor cores.
  3. I just clicked on a random 1080P video to test. And the YouTube quality is AMAZING! 1080P is upscaled to 4K and it looks just absolutely amazing. That GPU power usage is kinda heavy though lol. At least the lower resolution videos will look better.
  4. Netflix basic is $6.99 Netflix 4K is $19.99 I know it’s not anything special, I just think it’s cool that our GPU will take an old 480P video and upscale it to 4K automatically, we don’t even realize it’s happening.
  5. So, Netflix charges extra for 4K. If you have their base 720P streaming plan, your GPU will convert it to 4K FSR free of charge if you’re using Edge or Chrome browser. And some YouTube videos are 1080P only, but also many streaming services too.
  6. Nvidia has a new driver that uses FSR! It automatically upscales 1080P streaming to 4K and leverages the power of your GPU using the Tensor cores! If you have Netflix that only streams 1080P, your Ampere or Love Lace GPU will convert it to beautiful quality! Or, if you’re watching a 1080P video on YouTube it will automatically upscale the image to 4K. This is pretty cool technology. How do you know it’s working? Well, that’s easy! Just listen out for the coil wine of my EVGA P1300+ PSU 🤣
  7. Laptop companies were definitely chasing the MacBook Pro looks and sleekness with these prior gaming BGA PC Laptops. Although, since the 2021 MacBook Pro has gone up drastically in thickness, other companies have already followed suite by dropping this stupid idea of trying to push something that is super high performance in something super sleek and sexy that runs 110C+ at all times lol. I’m glad this happened. Razer gaming laptops actually run cool now lol. Because, they’re thicker. I could care less about something being the thinnest, and I hope we continue seeing Improved thermals and improved performance in fatter mobile machines. Let’s make a 3.5”-5.0” super thick laptop!! Stuff a full power 4090 inside 🤣 I wouldn’t mind.

  9. You know it’s kinda funny that this seems true, but it’s really not. Everyone is going thicker now lol. And thick is in!! 🤣 Apple made their new MacBooks thicker since 2022 now, and even in 2023 and everyone is buying them up. Razer also made their sleek gaming machines thicker too. Which I’m okay with. Because for the first time ever, the Razer laptop performs similarly to a really thick MSI GT77. The Razer machines have the same TGP power as the best performing machines. As far as I know everyone increased their machine thickness unless it was already thick to begin with. People know that thin offers sacrifice in performance, and it’s not going to provide the best cooling or performance. I do not care if my laptop is thick so long as it provides some decent cooling and performance to go with it. Even my iPhone 13 Pro Max is thicker than my iPhone 11 Pro Max. I do not mind at all. From how laptops look honestly, with this new acceptance of “Thick” I’m excited to see what the future brings. I feel like we’re past that phase of thin. Where right now it’s kinda like a “Good enough” how does it perform mind set? People want performance and good cooling. And that’s all they care about to an extent. Having a desktop is nice, but it does have its limitations. It is stationary. If you don’t really need a laptop, then maybe pass on one. I don’t exactly need one my self, but I am finding my self needing a powerful machine to move around my house to keep working when my kids get home after 3PM. So, I need to move to another room because my children are too dang loud. My current desk is setup near the living room/kitchen and it’s all open.

So with these BGA turd books we are limited to a 250 watt max load for the CPU, and GPU while gaming or benching because we need to allow 80 watts to other peripherals like the screen, memory, ssd, motherboard etc.. I have seen the 0.1% lows and even max power consumptions suffer on some machines during intensive games where the cpu ramps up. As a result the 175 watt graphics power for our fake 4090 is reduced when the cpu needs more power. The Intel 13980HX CPU is just not efficient at all.. So during intensive areas you can see problems when that CPU demand goes up, causing the 4090 Mobiles power over head to be reduced. I watched a live stream of the Zephyrus Duo 16 peak at a 210 watt max power on the GPU which was nice to see. But, when the cpu is hammered with a hard load it won’t take away from your graphics power envelope. 3DMark Timespy graphics won’t demonstrate this, because well, it barely uses the cpu anyways and even with Intel chips it uses like 45 watts during the test. But plenty of games will use the cpu far more than this. The thing is, these new BGA books are running on a cancerous firmware that limits them to 250 watts CPU+GPU max power draw. Well since the new Ryzen 7945HX is so efficient it doesn’t cause down clocks during games and a random peg to the cpu in gaming situations wouldn’t harm or limit the GPU’s power overhead that is available. With Intel 13980HX it will jump to high power usage in games, taking away from what your RTX4090 can use. The Ryzen sips power and leaves all of our GPU power at all times I’d be curious to see either machine running Battlefield 2042 on a (128) player server. That Intel chip would be taking 120+ watts from the available 250 leaving only 130 for the GPU. Also, if you limit both Intel and AMD chips to 100 watts, the AMD will destroy the Intel 13980HX. I’d rather have an Intel 13980HX, but with laptops we have to worry about efficiency unfortunately.. And I am certain that AMD would be a faster machine in several scenarios.
  11. More like keep for 4 years with smooth performance. With new DLSS3, and frame regeneration, these new machines are really amazing and would easily run games at 60+ fps for years and years. You can actually snag a Cyberpower PC Tracer laptop with a RTX4090 for $2,850. Phenomenal value really. I’m definitely grabbing one my self. I am just waiting for everyone to release their 4090 models and decide on the best, I’m going back and forward too much. I’m still leaning towards the MSI GT77 Titan. It is the worst value money wise, but definitely the best long term option with the best cooling power and upgrade features down the line. It has a fully unlocked bios like a desktop motherboard, and PCI-e Gen 5 support. I really want a Mini LED display laptop, but they are all 16” and the GT77 Titan is the only larger display that has the Mini LED display, which many claim is better than OLED. Higher end laptops seem to last the longest performance wise though. Even the older 3080Ti laptops are just beastly fast right now.
  12. Thats unfortunate with the 4090 experience. I have not had the strong urge to buy one just yet. My next investment will be a bga turdbook. How is the memory overclocking on your 3090KP HC? I dug deep on mine here recently with both memory voltage dip switches enabled, pushing for the absolute maximum OC on my GDDR6X and it has been at +1,835 in MSI AB daily (23,170gbps) now for a week so far with no issues on gaming or benching. I’m pretty impressed with the bandwidth being equivalent to heavily overclocked 4090’s. It gives the RTX4080 a run for its money being only 10% faster at lower resolutions.
  13. That’s nice!! Did you return your 4090’s? What did you do with your 3090KP? PS: on another note, the AMD high end laptop CPU’s may turn out to be the GOTO option for best performance. Primarily because they are so efficient you’d have more GPU power envelope available during heavy gaming/benching loads.
  14. Awesome. I always wanted one of those! As well as the matching Z590 (2) Dimm formula OC motherboards. These older high end GPU’s are freaking bull-dogs with overclocking though. I’m so content with my overclocked 3090KP right now, if I popped in a 4090 I wouldn’t feel the difference unless I turned on a frame counter. 😁 Thats good enough for me. I only play 2560x1440
  15. You can have fun with any modern hardware fast or new. Laptop or Desktop! I’m excited to start messing around on a laptop again my self though. I guess I better decide on what to get before a new generation comes out lol.

  17. @electrosoft The Asus Duo 16 make an RTX4080 option that has a 165 watt TDP. Just figured I’d mention this as a possible flash option with a SOIC8 clip and hand flasher. Not sure if it’s work, but if it did that’s be a nice boost. UPDATE: Wait never mind. I think your 4080 may be 175 watts already lol

  19. I took my Supercool Gen13 off today and I lapped the bottom of it with a steel file just like I did on the Supercool Gen12. Temps dropped about 10C easily after lapping it. My Supercool Gen12 was actually performing better than the Gen13 was. Which is why I decided to lap the Gen13 today. It looks like it is outperforming the Gen12 by a tiny bit now. But, I am not really sure by how much it may be as much as 5C cooler, but package temps display maybe 4C better temps. I do not have any of my old screen shots anymore since my 2tb m.2 died on me suddenly, they are scattered across the forums. Temps look great to me though, but so did the Gen12! PS: This is with 15C water temp. 6Ghz P-Cores, 4.8Ghz E-Cores, 5.1Ghz Ring. Temps after R23 run.

  21. I still have not been able to get my Gen13 Supercool temps as good as my Gen12 Supercool temps. I did not lap the bottom of the SC Gen 13, but I may do that. The temps are so godly on either setup being Gen12 or Gen13 it hasn’t really bothered me much. @Mr. Fox @Etern4l pump speed is key, but you will hit a point where gains are no more. I run a chiller only with no radiators. So pump speed helps tremendously here, I still have not hit a wall even with (4) D5’s. The reason is because, the chillers have big tubing diameter inside and that flow pressure really drops off with a chiller. The more pressure, the better! But yes you want some good flow with radiator cooling too. (1) single fast pump should be sufficient for any single radiator setup.

It performs as good or better than a Supercool Gen13 I swapped from this Gen12 to the Gen13 and did not see a difference at all lol. The bottom of that coldplate is already lapped smooth so it free floats perfectly on the 13900K die. Your temps would be insane. I did it right, and it’s a real performer.
  23. Looks like a member on Overclock.net compared the supercool Direct die VS. the EKWB Direct die. Identical settings on a stock 13900K. EKWB DD (63C-84C) water= 24.9C SC DD G13 (58C-73C) water= 26.0C

  25. That was literally like a $5,000+ dollar laptop back in the day. I had a 7820HK with a GTX1070 Mobile back when they were fresh and top of the line. My laptop was a BGA Aorus 17.3” DTR, I bought it used on eBay for around $1,800 dollars. The CPU was unlocked, and I had that thing running at over 4.7Ghz or so for benching. It was such a beast for being a bga turd book 😂! I also had the GTX1070 Mobile matching nearly stock weaker scoring desktop GTX1080 GPU’s. This machine had a beautiful IPS Pantone color rite x 4K@60Hz panel, during this time period high refresh rate was still not very common or popular and still expensive to own. So, if you got 35-40+ fps in games you were doing pretty darn good, especially on a laptop lol. And this machine absolutely provided a nice 35-60+ fps. I gamed at native 4K with ease. I remember the fire strike graphics score was around 21,000 which for a BGA GTX1070 was phenomenal. I had so much fun on this machine though. Good memories! I know this was no overclocking monster, and it was power limited. But, since it was reliable and smooth while allowing some levels of overclocking and performance functionality I grew to not mind BGA all that much. I do have low expectations for BGA, which I think is the reason why I don’t mind it all that much. But my last bga really left a lasting impression that was just incredible. That thing ran games like a desktop, and never gave me any real problems.
