Asus replacements do not come with S/N stickers. The reason why I know this is due to all of the replacements I had to get for my Asus boards over the years. Asus sends you an e-mail with the replacement's S/N. Ask the seller for the S/N they've received via e-mail. If you toss away that e-mail, you are SOL. -

It is full path tracing....bro, the optimizations will come as new generations of cards. And I mean, generations of cards to enjoy full path tracing at 60fps. -

From the date of purchase to delivery, I think it was like 10 business days. Seven of those days were shipping. Now I didn't know it was shipping from China, but it still got here pretty quick. Returns are based in your country and I am sure they have service centers in the UK. -

Hmmmmmm. Long story, short. Don't buy the 7950X3D nor 7900X3D (should be obvious). Also, don't buy the 7800X3D if you need to do other things besides gaming. AMD really handicapped this CPU to ensure the 7950X3D/7900X3D were not too far behind and yet the 7800X3D made those CPUs and others obsolete. This is such a confusing launch of CPUs. -

I've ordered some DDR5 sticks from them, when they were hard to get. Shipped directly from China, much quicker than I expected. No complaints. -

I'll say this and end it here. This thread for the most part, leans Intel. Nothing truly wrong with that, as Intel have historically offered the best overall overclocking products. Yet, if Intel continues down their current path, they can end up like AMD pre-Ryzen era. Basically, barely holding on from bankruptcy. It's not farfetched to conceive that in five years, Intel could simply be a fabless chip maker like AMD/Nvidia or worse. I am not a true fan of Nvidia, AMD or Intel. I am a fan of computing and competition. Intel for the longest time has rested on their laurels and it caught up with them...in a big way. Who would have thought five/six years ago that AMD would be currently beating Intel in sales in enterprise, going toe to toe in mainstream (no matter how much people want to bash their mainstream parts) and completely eradicate Intel in HEDT/Workstation up until recently? I didn't. -

Currently, AMD is the first to the table, followed by Intel. While in this scenario, Intel is eating a lot more than AMD, that is because they have had long-term contracts. Those contracts won't last forever, especially when Intel keeps delaying products. The article I shared is from an Intel Investor conference summary...aka they [Intel] have to tell the truth. They have admitted they are going to lose more marketshare over the next two years to AMD but hopefully their shift to AI products can give them another way to claw back market and mind share. You do know that all of the major data centers run custom servers, with custom hardware? Very few run turn-key solutions. The emphasis on custom hardware designs are even greater now with AI. FPGA's offer the most customized options outside of a company spending billions of R&D on their custom silicon. Put it another way....GPU mining vs FPGA Mining. The GPU offers great general purpose data processing but a programmed FPGA can process specific datasets, sometimes upwards to 10X better at lower power. Another scenario, instead of using two 3090 TI in SLI and all the power those GPU's require to operate, I can use a 3090 plus a FPGA accelerator to transcode/process video much faster with much lower power requirements. -

https://seekingalpha.com/article/4591798-intel-stock-buyers-strike-back Unfortunately for Intel, AMD and Xilinx are eating their enterprise lunch. A lot of people are saying that the purchase of Xilinx is what saved AMD and I agree somewhat. The question is can Intel survive this onslaught from both Nvidia and AMD? While Intel is still the market leader, their lead is eroding and the ramifications are huge. For the first time, I see Intel as being only a Foundry. The mistakes they've made are costing them. -

At least with DDR4, "RGB Powered" RAM sticks tend to need looser timings and that is generally due to the type of RAM requiring more voltage. So the thought process for me is simple. If I want RGB bling and a certain speed, say 3600/4000 for DDR4 or 6400+ on DDR5, I make sure to get a RGB RAM kit that is specced higher and manually lower the speed. Timings won't be as tight. If I don't want nor care about RGB in a build, I can "usually" buy a cheaper set of nonRGB RAM and overclock higher, with tighter timings. -

It is extremely rare for a workstation/server to need TB. Add-in cards are what we use. Need additional storage? Add a 10/25G NIC and connect to a file server or install a PCIe M.2 add-in card if faster speeds are required. Need additional GPU compute? Install additional GPU directly to the PCIe slot without performance penalty. For all intends and purposes, TB is a consumer product or even Pro-consumer. We do not want that in our workstation/enterprise builds to take away resources. This is why I'm struggling to convince myself to sell my TRX40 build. If you saw the amount of stuff I've connected (including 8 NVMe drives, GPU, video capture card), there is no way I'll trade those PCIe lanes for TB. AMD may not have TB, but it has the PCIe lanes. -

They have been waiting a long time to raise the ASP to over 25% and the "inflation" and "chip shortages" gave them the power. Now, oddly they are ignoring the global recession that we are in. Or perhaps not. Perhaps they know that and are raising the margins to cover the lower number of units sold. Those record profits from the pandemic made a lot of these companies overvalued in the stock market and they HAVE to keep showing growth. It is all going to topple over. -

AMD shot themselves in the foot by listening to "customers" that wanted a 16 and 12 core X3D variant. I am not sure what Lisa was thinking outside of some early adopter money? They are gimped 16/12 processors that don't do gaming or productivity as well as the Non-X/X CPUs. The true king of gaming is going to be the 7800X3D and Intel won't have a competitor at its price point. AMD knows most of the X3D's potential customer demographic are going to wait for the 7800X3D but they got some people to bite on the "higher end" X3D parts. -

You're going to make me want to join you on this hunt and install Office on my all AMD rig. It is strange that it only affects MS Office. You don't have AMD Anti-Lag enabled or the AMD sharpening (forgot the name of it). One thing I learned with having AMD GPU's for the past several years, they are very picky with it comes to cables. While my 3090's are more forgiving with it comes to PC monitors, my 6800 XT barks at any lower grade HDMI 2.1/DP 1.4a cables over two feet. -

Now that is new. I have troubleshot aplenty of server/desktop CPUs with missing DRAM banks, but not an SSD disappearing during I/O due to heat expansion with the CPU. Is the SSD connected directly to the CPU or through the chipset? -

This is crazy. Unfortunately, and I hope I am wrong, getting actual justice on fraudulent peer to peer transactions online is difficult and time consuming. As some of you may know, I am a very giving person. That has gotten me scammed multiple times and outside of showing up at the scammers door, there wasn't much I could do. The payment processors always took the "buyers" side and ignored all of my evidence. I never let it change who I am but I am a bit more careful now. Again, I hope he does get justice and a real resolution but seeing how much time he had stated has pass, it is going to be a rough road ahead. -
I have spoken to iunlock in the past, on NBR and a few times on Discord. He wanted me to help him secure computer parts, as at the time I was the owner of an SI/MSP for small business. He saw how giving I was on NBR and perhaps hoped I would help him. It never amounted to anything as I was quite busy at the time and I never give out my personal information...to a very select few. I rarely ventured out of the Official Overclocking thread on NBR (and you can say the same about this forum). I am sorry about how things went. You can't be too careful online (trust me, I know). I hope you find resolution and justice. EDIT: I want to add and perhaps it was just my company, but for even the highest end of builds...including completely custom hardlined watercooled rigs, it would take a month max if we had all of the parts in stock. If we didn't, we would keep the client updated every week without fail. I also insisted to all of my employees of including build photos in those updates.

You don't have to choose. You can do both in the same build. I have done both in many of my client builds but I prefer soft tubing for my personal builds. Even if you go full hard tubing, make sure you have a bit of soft tubing for the drain tube you're going to want built into the loop somewhere hidden. -

My hope is that they continue to expand on this ideology of open-source computing. No other laptop OEM has opened up their detailed schematics to the public like this before. No other laptop OEM has allowed such reparability. I was highly interested in the Framework when they first launched, but I was equally skeptical. They have proved they have some staying power and the community around it has exploded. I am going to buy one of their cheaper DIY models and expand over time. -

In other news, I hope you guys really consider Framework for your next business or now even gaming laptop needs. They are fighting against Lenovo, HP, Asus and others with laptops that you can really repair/upgrade over time. Many of us talked about having an upgradable laptop, well I am going to put my money where my mouth is. I am likely going to buy one. They are not like the Clevo's of old with MXM graphics and socketed CPUs but they are better than the Apple's and other thin/light laptops out there. What surprised me the most is the community surrounding the laptops. -

I banned Office 365/20XX in my company when I owned/operated it. SaaS for the most part infuriates me. It is a rabbit hole I don't wish to go down, but I blame companies like Adobe, Safeforce and others. They are the reason why many small to medium size service/support businesses are disappearing. I was told by a sales manager at a larger corporation that I won't name, "Adapt or Die"...hard to do when a company offers the crappiest support service but at pennies on the dollar. I'll shut up now. -

Hmmm, I forgot it worked on the Asus board. So @Papusan might be right. Perhaps, Asrock placed some kind "flag" on the card. Asus may not choose to see this flag or didn't implement a check...whereas EVGA does. So I am 80% confident it is the ACPI implementation the more I research this issue on my own. -

Have you contacted EVGA about this? I mean I know the official stance is Windows 7 is no longer supported but i am sure they may point you in the right direction. Obviously, they know the majority of their Dark buyers are overclockers and Win7 is something a lot of them use for certain benchmark suites. The reason why I saying this...https://www.asrock.com/Graphics-Card/AMD/Radeon RX 6900 XT OC Formula 16GB/index.us.asp It states on their website, Not compatible with Windows 7. However, it appears their Phantom Gaming 6900/6950XT are. So you are correct that there is something in the vBIOS preventing use in Windows 7. I don't know why their best overclocking GPU can't be used in Windows 7 but their cheaper mainstream model can. Doesn't add up. If you want, we can cancel our deal. I don't want you to be stuck in this deal because Asrock made a bonehead decision. -

I have a Bykski block on my 6800 XT in my all AMD build, with zero issues. I have performed a full cleaning/flush of my rig after six months. From my years of custom watercooling, if a block (CPU or GPU) are discoloring, it is usually the result of mixing metals or the coolant mix. What I find suspicious is the nickel plating is failing but his temps remain good. Those nickel particles have to go somewhere and usually it is clogging the coldplate fins...worsening temps. That being said, his problem could be a one-off. All brands have them. -

Now that's peculiar. Often it is the opposite for me. My Zenith Extreme II Alpha hates most Linux distros...elements like sound not working and etc...but work completely fine on my X570 Dark. -

I guess I am partial to Noctua. The company's color scheme screams to me product quality over aesthetics. I have over two dozen different Noctua fans, of various speeds and sizes, NONE have failed. Some of the fans have been running for over four years, nonstop 24/7 (with occasional cleanings). With that said, I won't spend an extra $400+ for an official Noctua branded GPU.
