  3. Have accepted that is more or less inevitable to keep some gstuff running (alt. enabling\disabling according to circumstances). Need bank apps with no trouble (f.ex. can't even think about using bank apk's not from gplay), & some apps won't work wo gstuff running etc. But am controlling as much as possible wo making things cumbersome, feeling of having a good balance between (some) privacy \ usefullness. 4. Good music for early mornings :O) Parasite Inc. - The Pulse of the Dead
  5. The very word 'privacy' has become a big joke. This data is sent without user consent, unencrypted, and even when using a Google-free Android distribution. This is possible because the Qualcomm chipset itself sends the data, circumventing any potential Android operating system setting and protection mechanisms https://www.nitrokey.com/news/2023/smartphones-popular-qualcomm-chip-secretly-share-private-information-us-chip-maker
  6. April kb w10 ltsc 1809, zero problems (as always with ltsc).
  7. The eternal beta saga continues :O) https://www.windowslatest.com/2023/04/13/windows-11-kb5025239-issues-file-explorer-ssd-bsod/ "Bing AI on the search bar or ads in the Start menu do not help when bugs are skittering in the shadows." "While Windows updates can fix long-standing minor bugs, they often introduce new issues that require additional updates to address. Unfortunately, this can lead to a never-ending cycle of fixing one problem only to create another."
  8. March update done, w10 ltsc 1809, everything still working :O)
  9. Complete madness 🥴, the telemetry evolution during the last 10 years, combined with the evolution of blindness \ acceptance from users regarding privacy plundering. And what we see taking place now in win, apple, android may be just a humble beginning ! So happy to be in a position to live well with 10 ltsc (O&O + some firewall), OS complete radio silence at boot, and stays that way until I myself choose to do something.
  10. Anyone experienced the fast health % loss hitting some models ? Numbers only while the drive is actually fine ? My 980 (pcie 3) holding up well. Magician recently offered a firmware update, maybe adressing some hidden bugs.
  11. For all the world's 3 users of 5540, starting this topic in case someone someday got something to write :O) In my case, excellent & solid machine. SH 2020 model at a good price. 2 years in my use with no problems (apart from a tired battery. Ref. my earlier posts, use only original Dell !). Edit: 3 years 3 months in use, still a very satisfying, stable, solid machine. One thing I'd one day look into, boot time (on > bios > bitlocker pw > desktop) somewhat slower than expected (but does not really matter, am generally hibernating = quick off\on). Keyboard is fine, apart from strong light bleed in front of keys when not viewed from optimal position. Superb 500+ nits matte display (main reason for buying) perfect for my image editing work. Machine fast enough for anything I do or plan doing. Tends to get quite hot when cpu\gpu stressed, but minimal heat and completely silent under all my normal\daily use. i7-9850H Sharp SHP16BA display Samsung 980 1TB, Seagate 1TB W10 LTSC + O&O ShutUp
  12. Running this (good) place on the Invision platform surely costs quite some $'s. Been looking around, can't find any Paypal link.
  13. A few weeks passed: bank accounts not emptied, websites does not display upside-down and filled with p**n ads, drives not encrypted by ransomware, email not hacked etc. So, 8.1 is safe and well 😀! btw, Defender still getting regular updates, all that's needed. Otherwise, I'd install some other av.
  14. Some more relaxing music for early mornings :O) Before The Dawn - Deadlight
  15. 8 perfect years with 8.1 on a Dell Latitude E7440 (perfect as well, refuses to die). Open Shell & removal of useless apps. Still my daily laptop for email, browsing, youtube, music stream, basic image editing etc. Original os install 02.2015 (+ updates) still running flawlessly, never seen a bluescreen or any other problem (...apart from my own doing, always fixed with Reflect images). Only bad experience came from the period when MS was hammering in their "update to 10" attacks, but that plague was not the OS's fault. What a great OS (8.1) this is (was). It's W7 MK2 imo. Will keep it on the Latitude for the time being. Edit: forgot to mention original 8, what a disgusting, ridiculous contraption (the user interface, the os behind was probably ok). From systeminfo:
  16. https://isofiles.bd581e55.workers.dev/Windows 10/ and all the rest :O) https://isofiles.bd581e55.workers.dev/ Unmodified & safe > in my experience.
