  1. oh man. far cry 3 is awesome. super good story, and really fun. downside today is graphics, looks a bit dated but thats not super important
  2. yeah I have to agree, I don't see 1500w being a requirement. unless they are like 800w gpus pretty big jump from 400-350. also @hfm isn't thunderbolt 4 more efficient than 3. I heard you get better performance as per notebookchecks review. nothing like a graphics amplifier but decent. I hope im not stuck with a 3060 for 5 years I dont mind 2 years but 5? I just can't afford a new laptop every year, the reason ive gone through so many is just selling and upgrading...lost alot of money doing so.
  3. like the game looks good but cmon, thats cgi heres in game i remember the old shenmue dreamcast pictures....heres in game heres in game lol
  4. uh huh...thats an ingame pic eh.....care to share more bro
  5. an interesting find, looks like thermal throttling can have a bigger impact on performance than disabling turbo heres 2.3ghz heres 4.1ghz throttling
  6. @Papusan I know some games benefit from higher clock speeds and core count matters but now that we have 8cores running above 2ghz it doesn't seem to make a difference, I just noticed this while disabling turbo and thinking ey my frames are still pretty high. sometimes common knowledge like cpu speed matters for high framerates can be wrong, I suppose the laptop world is different in that the 3090 would most likely benefit from a faster cpu but for laptops it seems pointless. heres crysis remastered a famously cpu bottlenecked game and the incredibly bottlenecked AOE3 maxed out running at 2.2ghz then 3.6ghz netting 8 negli framerates at above 130fps. did I expect this?no . Why would I test it? to share my findings after noticing core count matters moreso than speed and CPUs are no longer the bottleneck, and I suspect this has been the case since they introduced the 6 core i7s. and i'd like to add, I was excited about the 11800h and getting above 120fps and locking 144hz, in fact I paid more for the 11800h version of the omen. I had no idea the cpu would make 0 difference. does anyone know of a game that would benefit from a faster cpu at high-very high settings as no one buys a powerful laptop to game on low. perhaps an older game, so far iv'e tested cyberpunk/witcher 3/CR/and AOE3 those games were my best guess edit. I just found a game that benefits on lowering settings to high, I guess it does matter, but only in a couple games or if you don't want to run maxed settings, which I do hence why I got a 3060 after my 1060. if I wanted to game on high I would have just kept my 1060 laptop. also I tested maxed out and their was no difference. just a cooler cpu with turbo off, I think my temps hit 51c. with turbo on they were at 90c Conclusion, If you plan to max a game, disable turbo. If your planning on high refreshrate gaming test the game out and see if it needs the cpu power alot of games don't. and lastly, never assume a game will benefit from more cpu speed, often times its moot.

woah. now thats making hubble sweat.
  8. jesus that thing looks like it could cool a oven set to 600c!!! i dont know what to say -20c on temps? is this legit? ok im buying one unless you guys get in the way
  9. all this cpu benchmarking!! do you guys realize the cpu is the brains but the persons legs are gimped. cpu does not matter anymore. lol trying to start a debate on how much cpu matters heres the witcher 3 with a 11800h with turbo disabled and max settings with hairworks aa at 2 and shadows at medium 100fps thats 2.2ghz when I run 5ghz I net an extra frame..hmm uh huh..now graphically demanding games don't need cpu speed or power>? well yes and no. in games like counterstrike it matters but will you really benefit from 600 over 300fps
  10. oh cmon I dont have that many laptops in and out. I was just thinking there must be a laptop around 1800 with a 3080...im in it this time for the long run although i wish i bought a 2060 laptop 2 years ago....would have been the best bang for the buck
  11. im loving the rep system. however the main issue will be getting new members. does anyone have a suggestion as on how we will keep this alive. As I do not see it surviving without getting at least a few new members here and there
  12. I wont lie I'm an OG from 2004 I think my addy was ryan0840 or something ended up just reading and contributed later on 4 years ago anyone else remember lewdvig and magnus? some people just stand out
  13. although im no Bobby fischer I enjoy chess and just play casually and don't think ahead many moves, when I was a kid I read a chess book and beat my father at the age of 10. anyone else here play chess? best free chess game https://lucaschess.pythonanywhere.com/ a great paid chess game on steam is chess ultra
  14. Since i'm looking for a gaming laptop under 1800 I'd like to add I currently have a omen 16 with the 3060 and its a great laptop however im looking for more performance, I'm pretty sure I can sell it for 1800 cad hence the title. I'm looking for a 3080 laptop on a sale or a 3070 full fat model with good specs and trust the opinions of you Ol NBRs. I'm down for any size, but prefer somewhat thinner, as long as its not as @papusan would say or @Mr. Fox castrated. open too all suggestions or Should I just keep the omen 16
  15. yeah when I'm doing something I put my phone in airplane mode and can usually get 20 hours sot with 50 percent brightness watching videos and playing music. cell standby kills battery life and so does wifi
  16. @hfm I thought you were the guy with the gram and egpu? I have the 3060 and was thinking egpu with 4090 via TB4 next year, is it worth it or do you lose too much performance
  17. I have AOE IV and AOE 3 DE and im thinking just from a quick glance and a little gameplay that AOE3 looks better and runs better and is the better game, kind of ironic how the successor they made us wait 10 years for is worse....but yeah thats what im playing tonight
  18. this might be old news but i found the new patch for cyberpunk has a benchmark now...use preset ultra and post results.. 🙂 heres mine. Ultra no DLSS and DLSS quality heres dlss quality no dlss nice seeing framerate averages above 60 but to be honest medium looks like ultra and ray tracing ultra looks similar to ultra/no RTX Also @ratchetnclankI'm pretty sure the games characters don't look that good thats pretty high fidelity even for 4k ultra
  19. I was wondering and might look into youvideos but the 3060 is targeting 1080p and the 3090 4k. how does the 3090 at 4k compare to the 3060 at 1080p. are we there yet
  20. the band is literally known by like 2 people and in a random forum with random people posting random stuff..you somehow managed to listen to it on a special occasion. unreal....this kinda magic makes NBR special
