Yeah I like laptops for a few big reasons, no i dont like the lack of MXM but its not a deal breaker because when the gpu is out of date its likely so is the cpu and when you factor in a cpu and gpu socketed upgrade it can be costly err was. I wanted more performance for the same price thats my only reason going desktop. 3080 is like a 4080 or 4090 laptop. and instead of shelling out 3400 its 1650. basically half off. I think im going to buy the amazon 3080 desktop with the i7. its more money but as Bro pointed out the better buy. I will save 1000 and get double my current performance, maybe I can sell off a few of my laptops on ebay. 3080 desktop or 4090 laptop those in my mind are the only two options. maybe a 4080 desktop if its a good deal.

I was thinking of getting a better system via memoryexpress.com and building all the parts from the ground up but its quite a bit more money via memexpress. the prebuilt is 1700 for something similar is around 2500. cpu should I go all out with a i9 14th gen and a 3070 or 3060 ti? actually at memoryexpress for the same power its cheaper buying a turdbook. 3400 for a 4070 setup and 3200 for a 4080 laptop

I was looking up benchmarks and it looks like its twice as good as my beloved turd. @electrosoft I was gunning for 120 4k high settings kinda guy on older titles with my 3060, sometimes its possible. I have a 55in B2 and it has VRR and I find it smooth when its around 90fps and up 20 down 20. I know people love cranking details but alot of times it does very little to image quality but does alot to performance. I heard of hogwarts and yes it does seem demanding but as for games their seems to be very few AAA games releasing. hell divers 2 hog warts????thats it. starfield was a nice treat but buggy, honestly I am so confused I love gaming but It just doesn't seem to be fair bumping up demands for power while having games that look like they were made in 2010. @Papusan Whats wrong brother? you seem a little sick...because the last time I checked newer is always better. new new new...always.

looks like the 4050 in on point with 3060. I was thinking what games will I be able to play that I can't already play if I get a 4090 desktop? none that I can think of, it's like developers disappeared off the face of earth and no games are coming out. I play older titles so I should be good. as for linux its pretty slick, I just click try it out and bam I have a linux desktop off a thumb drive. also the cables matter for ssds so that problems solved just ordered some new cables 240w ones hopefully that solves the problem. any rumors about msrp of 5090? which I will likely wait for because of GTA 6

new 4tb p3 plus crucial after 2 weeks the ptm7950 is fairing better, 51c average with locks at 40fps and undervolted gpu and underclocked cpu. got kubuntu installed on my crap flash drive, looks good. just an os....very clean looking and suprisingly its a gui i thought it was all terminal. thanks brother @Mr. Fox alot to learn

I will check it out when I get a jumpdrive thats decent going to order one... I just want something fast for the internet, youtube ect. I can't stand having a 2000 dollar laptop thats slow as molasses.

woah thanks for that, your pretty passionate about linux And I see why. clean OS without the spyware crap and runs the bare minimum services, no suprises. back in the day LINUX was a hackers paradise, i'd imagine ethical hacking is still a thing but Im more interested in it for consistancy, not having to reboot windows every week because of malware or other things. do you know when or what quarter the 5090 will be released? I have the money lol....super excited just have to click buy come wednesday q4??? too late..I want it sooner than that, I can always sell it used and put towards a 5090 I have a good headstart. I can sell my omen for 800 and use the 10tb of storage i have in my new system

ok. im going to try linux....iv'e had it. iv'e reinstalled windows about 3 times this week. Ill just have to learn it, not going to support microsoft anymore, unless of course I cant play my games. I just got my 4tb p3 pretty big purchase for me 330 for a ssd is crazy. just about bought a 990 for 220 cad which is like 150 under msrp. glad I went with the P3 but honestly the teamgroup mp44 is likely the better buy, I think if anyones in the market for a 4tb drive and doesnt want to break the bank the mp44 is the only option. moving games now., crossing fingers 6tb is enough for all my games....if not I guess ill have to get another 4tb drive...I have a t7 portable ssd drive but its not very fast and has issues when loading games unplugging and replugging. more Than snot I need a 8tb ssd but at 1300 I can buy a complete system. if you guys see a system with a 4080-4090 on sale please let me know im in the market..

Ok I can save money by waiting for the 5090 or get a 4090 now. I'm willing to spend 3500 cad max. Suggestions? It would be something else to get a 4090 desktop but it seems the best I can find is 4070ti and I'd honestly rather have a 4090 laptop. I don't mind used but I'm gunning for a 4090. Either get a prebulit for 1500 and install a 2000 4090

Its painful seeing pap get 22k with a midrange card from 8 years ago. But good for you guys being extremely good with technology in general. I just bought a crucial 4tb p3 plus for one of my laptops. Not sure if I should put it in my zenbookq or have 10tb total for my omen. Never thought in a million years I'd need more than 2tb but games like the forza series are pushing 150gb. At least now I can load all 400 games. Also I don't know if this is newb or what but when I debloat windows and nvidia drivers my performance goes down.

excellent scores. 🙂 I applied de crapifier and a few other debloaters and my scores went down. not holding clocks on cpu or gpu. no idea what it changed but its broken. getting a 4tb ssd today and when I install it Ill be re installing windows and hopefully I don't have to reinstall daily lol annoying. anyways Ill be posting 4k benchmarks soon just in case anyone is looking to do 4k gaming on a budget with a 1070-4050.

STOP!! Your 1070 is breaking the 3060. 22k in firestrike graphics is what I get with a slight overclock. Many people run their 3060s with that level of performance. excellent

I bought two new laptops, the vivobook 15x oled and zenbook 14 oled in january, overall the zenbook 14 is the better pick with the oled panel but it has drawbacks like non uprgradeble ram and inability to use wifi 7. I would recommend the zenbook as it is a phenomenal laptop in the sea of trash available. as for gaming the ultra 7 in the zenbook will be like double the performance if both are igpu solutions. arc igpu graphics are a pretty big jump and will be able to do light gaming on older titles or low resoultion low settings on new games, either way the zenbook is the better buy if gaming is the priority
