  1. Anyone here use PTM 7950? I just ordered some and should be here tomorrow. going to try to break the 12600 record with the 11800h. Will be interesting to see how well they work, my gpu fan is running at 87rpm not sure if its built up dust or what but hopefully the portable duster works well enough and fixes some of the heating issues. 3060 is still going strong your son should be good for a while
  2. ohhh, that looks good. I remember watching aliens when i was like 16, scary stuff when your younger. great show though and yeah that does look like it's going to live up to the expectations i have, but will need more info. Got into a car accident, totalled my vehicle got 6000. now its looking like whiplash and concussion. 50 000 - 100 000 but i'll only see 67 percent of it. takes 18-24 months also although i told my soon to be lawyer i'd rather settle early if the offer is decent say 10 000 less. 18 to 24 months seems like a long time but when I get the money ill be able to afford a iphone or razer laptop haha. going to just save.
  3. Bought a 16gb 3200 stick of ram for my vivobook and ptm 7950 phase change pads with a screwdriver kit and a duster hopefully i can resolve my laptops overheating issues. ptm 7950/iets gt 500/ dusting it better work lol should be topping out at 60c but with my luck it will be peaking at 100c
  4. is this the official ptm7950? @1610ftw PTM7950 40x80x0.2mm Phase Change GPU Thermal Pad, JOYJOM High Conductive Silicone Grease 8.5W/mK CPU Thermal Paste for PS5 Steam Deck CPU GPU SSD M.2 Laptop : Amazon.ca: Electronics
  5. Yeah I find 16in the sweet spot. I have been gaming on my 14in zenbook and don't mind its ok really sharp mind you(2880x1800). My temps are back up I don't think my fans are ramping up properly and have no idea what to do after a cmos reset, might update bios and fiddle some more but if fans are down ptm will do very little.. new bios 155/300 on gpu cpu locked at 3.9 ghz max temps during run was 77 gpu and 88 cpu. terrible compared to what it was not sure where to buy the phase change pads in canada but if I knew id order right now
  6. yeah I found the 512gb model for 650cad open box. looks good. I just don't know how much id use it, I have a cell that I never game on. I might get one even if its only an hour a day
  7. Alot of threads of people talking about off topic things, why not create a thread for anything and everything. basically can be about hardware software news something to read before work/sleep. found a funny video, pretty well done with great in character acting and first part of this video is pretty funny rest not so much, ends up getting weird
  8. thanks for that, I was just looking into the z1 extreme. It looks like it has a 780m and thats pretty comparable to the arc in the ultra 5 and 7. Im leaning towards the ally as its on sale at bestbuy for 599.99 cad even though clearly the go is the better unit. I respect lenovo products its just that alot of times they are priced pretty out of touch. I would have bought a thinkbook over my zenbook but for what you get price wise its just unreasonable. do you know of a deal on a legion go>?
  9. my net worth is 1.6 trillion. but i dont want to buy tp for my bathroom
  10. their is a handheld with the new ultra 7 igpu i might be interested in that, is the legion go powered by the ultra 7?
  11. haha no kidding, I got a laugh out of that. It's true, they are honestly harvesting data on everyone whether we care or not. it's called crazy to point it out, and ignorant to deny it also I have a amd 5825u laptop and its not being affected in any way. I would take all these so called reports with a grain of salt, they are basically spamming youtube for views.
  12. havent noticed any slow down, have you tried reinstalling windows?
  13. managed to get the fans spinning again. temps are ok 60s Getting 60fps at 4k in crysis 3 with high settings. one of my favorite games and if I need 120fps I can always boot it up on ge force now. going to test out the zenbook and 4080 to see what it gets at 4k completely maxed no aids in cyberpunk 2077 im guessing 10-20fps. Also This omen is likely my last gaming laptop unless geforce now goes bye, I see no point in a heavy hot poor battery life laptop. if i can get 4080 level performance on a thin light ultrabook and the only requirement is a good internet im sold, it is what it is. if I didn't like geforce now so much I would have jumped on a 4080-4090 laptop

    Astronomy

huge electromagnetic storm sunday night, missed it but apparently most of canada could observe aurora borealis
  15. I think after using hal in the 90s and seeing its progression this new generative ai is impressive, as for dangerous. Anything can be dangerous in the wrong hands, the real question is, is the polarity of AI leaning towards help or hurt, I think NSFW Ai can be modified for evil intents but major companies like microsoft and nvidia have given it a positive spin. The real censoring should be treating NSFW like a suitcase A bomb no one here but if someone in the future visits this forum, perhaps aliens visiting earth chat gpt 4 passed the turing test Can AI Be More Human than Us? - GPT-4 Passes Turing Test (msn.com)
  16. anything recent thats good for an old times sake. like a 2020s queen or acdc or anything
  17. thats smart to a degree. but honestly they all last a long extremely long time. I constantly reboot windows and reinstall OS and games almost weekly and my tbw on a average ssd will last 40 years
  18. yeah its my omen, need to repaste. Didn't think I'd have to for its lifetime but hey no laptops perfect, it did well for 3 years. I might repaste and add a 4tb ssd and leave it till it dies. I was getting 9600 in timespy so 8700 is quite the drop. I noticed temps hitting 83c quickly with stock clocks on gpu and cpu and thats with the iets gt500 cooler which drops temps by 15c. so 84 is technically 99c. I wouldn't dare run this laptop without a cooler.
  19. this is for the people claiming 160ms response times. worlds fastest gamers are not breaking 160ms watch his reaction time in the video with the same test his fastest is 163ms and thats with top end low latency hardware.
  20. one more vote for samsung, I bought a T7 External SSD from samsung it was like half off and came to 280cad so I jumped as storage is an issue and since I own like 5 laptops all with usb c ports I thought it would be nice to just plug and play. It was concerning at first that it was just 680mbs and I thought well its faster than a HDD and in the end its 680mbs sustained and it actually feels lightning fast, everything transfers fast even small files, I have a sn850x a gen 4 ssd that needs to be moved to my gaming laptop but the T7 feels just as zippy as a 7400mbs ssd. if you need a fast high storage ssd that doesn't break the bank then a T7 on sale is a no brainer
  21. all its going to do is force people that are on the fence about linux to switch, then eventually linux will become a better option even for gaming. I personally cling to dear life with windows just because I game. If linux was faster id be using linux. I checked out linux on a jumpdrive and it was clean/fast/and the way an OS should be, but like many unless I have to I won't switch due to the learning curve.
  22. im able to get 4k/120 in many games cyberpunk included. heres what it can look like with good internet and ping
  23. undervolted max temps 74c declining temps bummer
  24. it should be in the myasus app. under devices and at the top of the menu. performance balanced and whisper. its just fan speed
