  1. Managed to get the display tested and installed Works fine in the 7520 with brightness control too I haven't tested above 144Hz, I don't think the HD 630 optimus supports it at this resolution I used two layers of this foam tape: PE Foam Double-Sided Adhesive Tape -Outdoor and Indoor Super Strong Foam Seal Strip for Automotive Mounting,Weatherproof Tape for Car,LED Light Strip, Office and Home Decoration, Photo Fram(0.47”X33FT : Amazon.co.uk: DIY & Tools It's 12mm so 24mm total, but I should have used another layer as the display edges aren't making contact with the bezel as they should Be aware that this tape is an absolute nightmare to remove if you make a mistake, not even sure if I'll be able to lift the display out to fix this
  2. Nevermind, NVIDIA announced today at CES the true TDP ranges for these lovelace mobile GPUs, it's looking good for MXM type A still! NVIDIA announces GeForce RTX 40 Laptop GPU series, RTX 4090 with 9728 CUDAs and 16GB GDDR6 memory - VideoCardz.com Interesting that they allow the 4070 to go down to 35W
  3. Question is, will MXM type A even be able to continue with lovelace? They bumped up the 4050 mobile to 115-140w which is absolutely ridiculous considering the 3050 mobile was a 45w-80w part NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4050 Mobile Specs | TechPowerUp GPU Database I'd hope there's a new lower tier SKU coming to fit the 60w tgp area
  4. The newer Turing/Ampere MXM cards are basically only targeted at industries like medical, military, rail transport for example There are also some (non standard) MXM cards from egpu enclosures such as the Sonnet Breakaway puck and Sparkle/PowerColor gaming station eGPU Breakaway Puck RX 5550 XT/5700 - Sonnet (sonnettech.com) Sonnet eGFX Breakaway Puck RX 5700 teardown : eGPU (reddit.com) RADEON Mini GameStation - SPARKLE MXM form factor RX 6600 teardown : Amd (reddit.com) (this one looks standard?) Also non standard MXM Quadro T1000/T2000 in the HP Z2 Mini G5 PC HP Z2 Mini G5 with i9-10900 & NVIDIA® Quadro® T1000 (4GB) - HP Store UK
  5. Blocks vent 😠 I have a bunch of dead laptop 9 cell batteries now so at some point I will build a large battery pack instead I opened up the slice battery a while ago, this is what it looks like inside
  6. Wow, surprised you can get 30 FPS with M5100 as its a really demanding game. Nice I have these folding feet on my M4800, greatly improves temps when you raise it up Portable Folding Aluminum Laptop Computer Stand/Feet/Riser for Dell XPS, Mac, Macbook, iPads, Tablets : Amazon.co.uk: Home & Kitchen Would recommend 😃
  7. No problem, nope I didn’t measure anything but you are right, mine also have sorta deep impressions on them from the pressure (but no cracking) so I guess anything from 1mm to 2mm would work I am really interested in acquiring an A2000 8GB and I’m gonna keep looking until I can get one, I think they’ll start reselling as soon as a 4050 ti gets announced bc companies will want to upgrade The A2000 states 35W or 60W TDP - no idea how to adjust that but I think 35W would be better, the T1000 is a 50W card and runs hot in the M4800 (98c hotspot) so 60W would likely throttle hard
  8. I had the nvidia heatsink, I used 2mm Zezzio 12.8 w/mk pads (from aliexpress) on the vram and kept the stock pads on the inductors Not sure about AMD heatsink Got my T1000 from the secondhand version of taobao called Xianyu, need a shipping forwarder in China to purchase from it (I used superbuy). The cards don't come up often though so I got quite lucky to get mine for like $140 or so (converted from yuan to usd). I occasionally have a look for them but I haven't seen any in a few months edit: There is one here on aliexpress but it is fairly expensive i guess considering that it's gddr5 version https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005004630739564.html
  9. Love to see it, my thinkpad x230 was converted from 12.5" 16:9 to 13.3" 16:10 qhd in a similar fashion. Got the built top case (modified bezel and display installed) from X230 (X330) – XY Tech. Are you planning on modifying the bezel? I guess you could alternatively fabricate a new bezel with 3d printing?
  10. Talking specifically about the MXM cards, check the Adlink T1000 datasheet for example https://www.adlinktech.com/Products/Download.ashx?type=MDownload&isDatasheet=yes&file=1875\EGX-MXM-Turing_Series-datasheet-20220118.pdf No eDP output listed which makes sense because the M4800 and 7520 both don't work in dGPU mode as per my testing
  11. Late correction but I believe that all Turing cards require Optimus even if you have an eDP panel, as this is the generation where the cards dropped eDP support
  12. I have had a 1440p LG LP156QHG panel from the Alienware X15 R1/R2 laying around for a while and decided I would like to install it into my Precision 7520. I currently have the FHD model so I'm going to need a 40-pin eDP cable, the display doesn't have mounting tabs so i will need to install it using another method edit: got some 1mm double sided foam mounting tape, will post results Inside of the top case for reference:
  13. Thanks for looking into this Aaron 🙂 I have set up the new dev build with the registry key. However, even with the CPU temperature reading disabled, the stuttering issue continues. Guess NVAPI is the problem..🤔
  14. I won't be able to test for the NvAPIWrapper error for now as I've got a different GPU installed now and it only happened with the Quadro M1200. Going to put the card in my M4800 soon so I'll test it on there As for the stuttering, I can confirm that I experience the same issue with Open Hardware Monitor. Doesn't happen with HWMonitor but that information is not useful seeing as it is closed source. Perhaps it is an issue with Windows 11?
  15. Tested the Quadro T1000 on 7520, works fine but just like in the M4800, it doesn't seem to work in dedicated mode. Will post thermal differences soon in M4800 vs 7520
  16. @Aaron44126, Firstly thank you for the software, it has been very useful on my Precision M4800. I have an issue though, I’ve recently been trying to use it on my Precision 7520 and had a few issues 1. Had the same issue as @solemgar when using a Quadro M1200 (NvAPIWrapper error) 2. Switched to Quadro T1000 and I no longer have that error but the system is visibly and audibly stuttering every 2 seconds or so You should be able to hear it in this video: https://imgur.com/a/Iqyd7ze Any ideas? Thanks again!
  17. Been using an iPhone 11 Pro since release, works great for my needs and I am impressed with its durability. Looking forward to upgrading to a newer model with LiDAR though for 3d scanning
  18. I don't think anyone has, I would have tried for you but I don't have the game & my internet sucks currently I got some best case scenario time spy/fire strike results though if it interests anyone (I had very low ambient temperatures resulting in the GPU averaging 72c and CPU 66c) Time Spy with 4810MQ (4GHz all-core) & Nvidia T1000 Fire Strike with 4810MQ (4GHz all-core) & Nvidia T1000
  19. Dell Precision 7510 (2015) The Dell Precision 7510 is the successor to the Precision M4800, based on the Skylake architecture. 20. seems MXM is here to stay tbh. There's just too many industries targeted with specialized embedded PCs featuring MXM modules. This military panel PC has the Quadro A2000 MXM card: Cloud15-P20 This one must be the most overkill laptop ever made: PS2 defense computer
  21. Yeah it's definitely interesting also nice laptop collection Here is the link, it is on Jingdong which is a Taobao/Ali competitor in China https://item.jd.com/10064806973101.html I'm guessing it could be bought with a Chinese parcel forwarder like Superbuy Edit: no way I actually came across a few of your YouTube videos before when browsing, cool to see you on this forum sir
  22. Technically there are RTX 3050 Ti MXM type-A cards, but they're very expensive at the moment. Need to wait for them to hit the resell market after the next generation comes out. Adlink RTX A2000 MXM type-A Advantech RTX A2000 MXM type-A Aetina RTX A2000 MXM type-A There's also an Intel Arc A380 MXM card interestingly enough, which also has raytracing support 😨
  23. Thanks for sharing dude, how about the built in speakers? Are they better/worse than the M4800? appreciate it Damn, wtf. Sorry to hear that happened. It's fully dead? I guess I need to be careful with mine... o.O
  24. @Vaardu I see that you have a Zbook 15 G2 as well, interesting as they are the most comparable laptops from this generation.. how do you find it compared to the M4800? Any notable pros/cons on the Zbook?😀
