ah yes of course incl. tax. if you ask me, stating prices without tax is like saying im earning X salary BEFORE tax 😄 looks nice on paper but in the real world doesnt mean squat haha -

yep 4090 Suprim airs are drying up fast in europe, cheapest available i can find is at 3230€ lulz. the liquid sku is still available though at 2120€, with the gaming x trio at 2049€ and the base ventus at 1999€. weird... -
omg sooooooo looking forward to TQ 2!
-
that doesnt surprise me, Grim Dawn was made by the same team that originally designed Titan Quest 😁 I actually have it, but havent started playing it yet, because i want to finish TQ first (which ive been playing for like 15 years now lulz).
-
oh i know, i didnt overlook the 2 😄 aw man that would be epic indeed, total conversion of HL2 incl both episodes in UE5 😄

finally done with RAM tuning here! unfortunately i couldnt get 7800 or 8000 stable, no matter what i did. since ive tried two different ram kits and they got very similar results at 6200 fully tightened up, im guessing im either held back by the cpu or mobo. judging from what ive seen online im guessing its the cpu IMC. but that is fine by me, better than to be held back by the mobo 😄 mind you guys, im testing for full 24/7 stability since im using this system for productivity work, as well. if it was just about benching, id just set 8000, go tight on the timings and call it a day 😛 ill be sure to do a write up of all the settings, timings and results ive gotten. i have to say it was quite a ride, lots of info out there is "half truth" when it comes to AM5 DDR5 tuning. tons of things i had to find out myself through trial & error. for anyone whos interested - here is an overview table for DDR5 OC results on AM5 from the german forum hardwareluxx. compared to that i seem to be in the top 5%, really cant complain! 😉 edit: forgot to post the link to the list lulz, here it is: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/16jMBDVEvNFkjkJ-RBW5hllsVdHgxVyaGMvY-Fz_ONtE/edit#gid=1418711794 -
u should totally check out black mesa, its a total conversion of half life 1 with more modern graphics and gameplay 🙂

yeah altho im generally not big on conspiracy theories, that wouldnt surprise me, seeing how little they actually pushed their dedicated mining cards. its not like they went out of their way to initiate big PR campaigns around those. -
yeah ive looked into U.2 drives but the connectivity and power consumption are a bit finicky to handle, hmmm.... plus the "lower" capacity kinda bums me out @ 7.68 vs. 8 / 15.36 vs. 16 etc.
-
hm what kinda Samsung models are you referring to? arent those usually capped in capacity to 7.68TB? here is the adapter i was referring to: https://www.amazon.de/dp/B018AOZ9QM?linkCode=xm2&camp=2025&creative=165953&smid=A3JWKAKR8XB7XF&creativeASIN=B018AOZ9QM&tag=geizhalspre03-21&th=1

LOL OF COURSE the chinese would come up with something like that to make extra money hahaha. theyre always so creative when it comes to this kinda stuff 😄 -
huh! i had no idea 4TB capacity for M.2 SATA even existed! nice find 🙂 edit: DUDE! u totally gave me an idea how to upgrade to 8TB drives in a cost effective manner: install 2 M.2 4TB SATA drives into a 2.5" SATA adapter! sure ill lose the extra performance but itll be super cheap and functional, nice!
-
ah a fellow man of culture @data hoarder 😄
-
there is, but that would start at like 800 USD. mayyyybe 600 if you can get an amazing deal on it... 8TB is unfortunately not worth it yet in terms of price per TB. 4TB is where its at for the moment.

oooh crap, what kinda bios and SOC voltages were u running? this looks like one of the dreaded blown up X3D cpus....daaaaang i didnt expect smth like that to happen so long after the issue was first discovered and patched. this must absolutely suck for u bud, sorry to see that... keep us updated on ur testing and thoughts on replacement cpus. -
dang, that is some fine work right there! one of the OG DTRs that made Alienware a great name....too bad those days are long gone by now....
-
it depends on the kind ure looking for. for 250 CAD ull likely have to go used and 2.5" QLC, so ur best bet will be the samsung 870 QVO or a used enterprise drive with U.2 connection.
-
totally understandable, i mean....thats basically what i ended up doing: bigass tower with E-ATX mobo 😄

yeah the PR / marketing around it has been kinda weird. afaik it was only shown once by Roman, but more as an "afterthought" vs. the mycro direct die waterblock. availability is also scarce, although its apparently been on the market since Aug this year. dunno what to tell you, im just glad I remembered that thing and also found a shop with stock 😄 will be sure to provide results on this! -

phsew, thats a pretty dark view on things...i gotta stay positive for my little princess tho 🙂 on a lighter note, i got myself a Ryzen 7000 Delid Die Mate 😄 now based on what little info i could find online, delidding Ryzen 7000 with LM between IHS and die and using the cpu relidded, results may vary. still, with Zen 5 around the corner and 50% off, i figured its now or never haha 😄 if anyone is interested, the 50% offer still stands over at Proshop: https://www.proshop.de/CPU-Kuehler/Thermal-Grizzly-Ryzen-7000-Delid-Die-Mate-Modding/3143452?utm_source=geizhals&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=pricesite im definitely not going direct die, due to the chiplets getting a perfectly aligned contact is very finicky, plus high risk of damaging one of the chiplets. a direct die frame aint gonna help with that either, so im just gonna keep things simple. while i was at it, i also grabbed myself the corresponding AM5 custom IHS, also by Thermal Grizzly: this should protect the surrounding mobo nicely from LM spills while significantly increasing the IHS contact area 🙂 feedback from other users looks promising at around 10-15C reduction, basically only couple degrees off the finicky and risky direct die. its basically sold out / out of stock everywhere i looked, BUT i found myself a reputable shop in the Netherlands that still have some in stock, if anyone in the EU is interested: https://www.sicomputers.nl/thermal-grizzly-am5-high-performance-heatspreader-id-905994.html -
haha i feel ya, although im still tuning my RAM 😛 ill be posting some detailed and interesting results soon, should interest u as well over in the official benchmark thread 😉
-
yep thats the first place i checked but theyre out of stock with no date on hand. BUT our friends in the Netherlands to the rescue, found a reputable shop with stock: https://www.sicomputers.nl/thermal-grizzly-am5-high-performance-heatspreader-id-905994.html ORDERED! 😄 btw user feedback on this one seems very positive, about 10-15C lower than stock and very very close to direct die, basically only a couple degrees off. thats worth it to me 🙂 plus im hoping i can still use the delidder and custom ihs on zen 5! @cylix you also itching to delid? 😉
-
aaaand another purchase! this one was quite spontaneous, because i saw it at 50% off so i couldnt resist 😛 got myself a Ryzen 7000 Delid Die Mate 😄 now based on what little info i could find online, delidding Ryzen 7000 with LM between IHS and die and using the cpu relidded, results may vary. still, with Zen 5 around the corner and 50% off, i figured its now or never haha 😄 if anyone is interested, the 50% offer still stands over at Proshop: https://www.proshop.de/CPU-Kuehler/Thermal-Grizzly-Ryzen-7000-Delid-Die-Mate-Modding/3143452?utm_source=geizhals&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=pricesite im definitely not going direct die, due to the chiplets getting a perfectly aligned contact is very finicky, plus high risk of damaging one of the chiplets. a direct die frame aint gonna help with that either, so im just gonna keep things simple. ill be looking out for a custom IHS, however, ideally with increased mass and surface area. not sure if something like that exists though. any thoughts bro @cylix? edit: well i KNEW that Roman had designed something like that (custom IHS), now to check where i could find one for purchase: https://www.amazon.de/-/en/Thermal-Grizzly-High-Performance-Heatspreader/dp/B0CBN63QMT

hate to burst your thought bubble but at this point ur best bet would a mini ITX ish desktop build with min/maxxed size/volume vs. performance. look at how many of us OG NBR Clevo gang folks hopped over to desktop land....its not cuz we lost interest in highend DTR hardware. its cuz there isnt any anymore 😅 i got my lady the very last hurray of Clevo "DTRs" and even that sports a soldered gpu, but at least everything else incl the CPU is still socketed. but thats it!
