  1. heads up for our american budddies thinking of heading to MC: suuurely, 233 cards are sufficient for the US, right?! the rest is here in europe (delusional hope lulz)
  2. afaik this only referred to their official MSI store on their website. they confirmed that other retailers "could" actually have 5090 skus on launch day: https://hothardware.com/news/msi-delays-geforce-rtx-5090-us-when-preorders-ship "As for MSI's own branded cards, a rep in the Discord thread clarified that the delay is only for its own US store, adding that he "can't confirm other retailers." In other words, it's entirely possible that places like Amazon, B&H Photo, Newegg, and other retailers will have availability of MSI-branded GeForce RTX 5090 cards on January 30. Of course, it's also entirely possible that they won't."
  3. tru dat, 16 GB can be considered the minimum if you dont (yet) want to worry about any gaming titles whatsoever. and yes, in some extreme scenarios were already breaching that. anything below 16 GB will get worse with more and more titles demanding more than that. btw, real life meme of a dude camping out 😄:
  4. see? thats how it goes> get 5090 = CPU bottleneck = get X3D = RAM bottleneck = get faster RAM = SSD botleneck....etc keeps the industry going baby! 😄
  5. while ure at it....why dont u just bring me and the rest of the boys here some 5090s from MC 😄 kthxbyeeeeee
  6. btw guys, i just realized: The 24+7 power stages on the Astral are 80A rated, so that would be 24*80=1920A total. The Suprim SOC "only" sports 22 phases, but theyre likely 90A rated (tbc, but likely so far), thus = 22*90=1980A. Thus, even LESSS reason to pay the Astral premium *lulz*
  7. would it though? iirc the baby cores were at about 0.67x IPC of the respective P cores. at 16 E-cores, that would equate to 16*0.67 = 10.7 P-Cores gotta consider the frequency differences too, so lets say 4.3 Ghz max. for E cores and 6.0 Ghz max. for P cores, thats a factor of 1.4 in advantage for P cores. 10.7 P-Cores / 1.4 = 16 E-Cores equate to 7.4 P Cores when both IPC and frequency are considered. so current configs at 8 P-Cores + 16 E-Cores would already equate to 8 + 7.4 P-Cores = 15.4 P Cores. A 16 P-Core config would then just be only +4% faster overall at full utilization...would that be such a huge difference then? oooh me likey....Nvidia stock go CRASH, AI demand go DOWN, more supply of gpus for US with better prices 😛 (one can dream lulz)
  8. sooo... that leaves PNY, Palit, Gainward, Colorful and GALAX (regular skus)? fun fact: i just started playing Titanfall 2, pretty great looking game, esp. considering its from 2016 😄 maxxed out im running in the range of 100-200 fps, pretty smooth. what i was surprised of though: its pushed my 4090 to new heights, got a new all-time high at 1125 W while gaming (full system via wattmeter at the socket). gpu is regularly pulling 700+ W. crazy stuff!
  9. tru, the perf bump would be REAL, and that at half price 😛 guessing time: would 16 P cores be enough to beat a 9950X?
  10. sure thing, no prob: how does 1000W TDP at stock with a price tag of 1500 USD sound? 😄 knowing Intel, that would roughly be the specs for such a cpu hahaha funny enough tho, if they removed the E cores (+2 P cores) and also the iGPU (+4 P cores) or just supplied a bare minimum igpu like AMD does (just display windows desktop, thats it, great for troubleshooting purposes or backup), then they might have enough die space to make it work on LGA1700.
  11. yes yes and yes on all points. the suprim offers better cooling, especially on the vram, more heatpipes overall and that at 400 USD LESS (= 500€ LESS) than the astral. plus the fact that scalpers will focus on the FE and Astral first and foremost. the two extra power stages on the astral doesnt make up for all that (24 vs. 22 on the suprim for the core, and an equal 7 vs. 7 for the vRAM). wont make any difference for the amount of OC possible anyways... i got my card picked, triggerfinger is ready 😛
  12. sooo basically, what it boils down to me to is this: - i already got the budget, so might as well try to get my hands on one - 4090 pricing will be nice n stable for a while with such a huge gap between 5090 and 5080, so ill get a good chunk of my money back - in many games im interested in, the 5090 pushes the FPS "just over the edge" into playable territory without having to use excessive upscaling (want to avoid that as much as possible, DLSS quality worst case, no FG for me) - highly interested in the 50-100% uplift for transcoding videos, thatll give me a tangible increase in every-day productivity for typical workloads of mine 🙂 all in all, im WAY more hesitant to pull the trigger on the 5090 than i was with the 4090 (ofc that has smth to do with the fact i was coming from a 980M and not a 4090 LOL). and although im likely going ahead with the purchase, im much more relaxed if i dont get one right at launch day tbh.

  14. coupled with the insane price increase we can already see enthusiasts jumping ship. i guess were finally hitting an upper limit of what highend gamers are willing to pay for halo gpus 😄
  15. spot on! with the 5090 the choice of display / resolution is more important than ever. even with the 9800X3D its BOTTLENECKED TO KINGDOM COME at 1440p. so it really only makes sense at 4K+ with RT enabled. happy with ur current 1080p / 1440p display? go get urself a faster CPU or an even better 4K display, ignore the 5090, easy as that 🙂
  16. my wife wouldve said the exact same thing 😄 bless their hearts hahaha
  17. be careful when going the FE route, blocking it will not be easy due to its freaky 3 board design... nice to see! 4K + RT is what a card like the 5090 is made for! 🙂
  18. dont worry about DP 2.1a vs. 2.1b. ALL RTX 5000 series sport DP 2.1b. the standards are interchangeable, 2.1b is basically just a functionality update with regards to active cables. thus, 2.1b = 2.1a with active cables, thats it. look again at the specs page @Papusan just posted for the Suprim: since 2.1b was only just announced at CES, im guessing not all vendors have updated their GPU specs yet, thats it 🙂 btw, interesting to see that the Astral weighs about 200g more or roughly +7% vs. the Suprim. I wonder if this is due to extra heatpipes, larger VC or if thats just due to the extra fan....hmmm
  19. btw, confirmed that both the Astral and the Suprim cards will sport the phase change thermal pads. also, we got updated review embargo dates, MSRP card reviews will hit first: https://videocardz.com/newz/nvidia-geforce-rtx-5090-reviews-go-live-january-24-rtx-5080-on-january-30
  20. be sure to subtract the respective tax (listed in the link) before converting to USD to get closer to what you could expect in the US. but yeah, ill BARELY be able to do the list price with a small buffer on top, but not much more....ugh
  21. looks like i was right to be still worried, even with my considerable budget saved up: https://videocardz.com/newz/custom-geforce-rtx-5080-and-rtx-5090-pricing-emerges-made-for-gamers-with-deep-pockets @Papusan get both your kidneys ready bud: as for us here in euro-land: holy guacamole, the MSI Suprim will actually be MORE expensive than the Astral?! O.o
  22. same rule of thumb as in investing: diversify. check on as many potential shops as possible to maximize your chances. and dont give up after just 30 minutes, most ppl do exactly that. keep at it! supply situation looks dire for the 5090 though, comparable if not worse than the 3090 / 3090 Ti launch, ugh....
  23. yup, the three separate boards alone keep me away from it, total nightmare to service / repair / tinker around with it...
  24. gotta admit, it does look quite sleek. but boy do i wonder how much its keeping back the 5090 in terms of being able to stretch its legs with a proper OC...
