  1. good thing that ure able to get ur data off of it, thats the most important part! ill definitely try and get 14th gen working with Prema's support, but thats still somewhat in the future...
  2. oooh was that the video GN pulled back? on their GN standards?
  3. aha! after 3 days of fiddling around i finally figured out what the culprit is with regards to high RAM OC stability in windows: the cpu imc! lets see how much it can handle, i bumped it by 20 mV today and voila, finally passing stress tests at 7600 Mhz 😃 (although im already pretty much redlining it at 1.58 V now 😅) no idea if i can get 7800, let alone 8000 stable though, so lets see, step by step... in any case, this is a relief, if it had been the mobo then that would suck, way more expensive snd difficult to replace than the cpu or ram modules haha.
  4. i disagree completely. if you go by that logic, nobody should ever be called out or held responsible for anything, because everyone has done mistakes in their lifes, be it professionally or on a personal level. everyone is sitting in a glass house, but if nobody is throwing stones then we might as well just ignore society and laws as a whole 😛 word. although id still say that GN has very VERY high standards and so far I haven't seen or heard anything (proven, that is) that would lead me to believe theyve done any wrong by the consumers. worst i could barely agree with is a tad of personal bias by Steve, which naturally comes after being disappointed and jaded for so long by players in the industry f*cking things up. and thats definitely understandable. i mean seriously, aside from GN, HUB and Dr. Ian Cutress, who else would come close to objective deep-dives on tech? not saying theyre perfect, but theyre damn well close and always striving to do a better job than the day before. cant ask for more than that.
  5. sounds promising for sure. lets see what the next year holds for LTT. also looking forward to listening in on yesterday's WAN show, should be lit! 😄 @electrosoftdamn youu, now i got it stuck in my head on a loop! hahaha
  6. Nvidia price drops incominnnnng 🙂 let us know when u got it bud. i need more peeps joining in on this AM5 RAM OC fun 🙂 currently working on stability in windows. also cant just quite get 8200 Mhz to boot, but based on the Q codes i can see on the mobo during boot attempts its soooo close....
  7. same for asus, already flashed 🙂 btw....😁 lets see how high i can push this thing mwahaha
  8. ok got tired of gear 1 stuff, switched to gear 2 and got 7800 to boot....now cmon, gimme that sweet sweet 8 up front!
  9. wow still rocking the HM series, thats awesome! so happy to see the legend live on 😁
  10. main point to analyse here is what kinda balance you have between laptop and desktop usage. are you on the move a lot and how often do u actually use the desktop? is it laptop for work only but then high perf gaming and productivity on the desktop? if the latter, keep the desktop, if the former focus on a high perf. laptop.
  11. been on the lookout for this! holding off on delidding until i cam get my hands on the enhanced IHS, direct die is not an option for me due to the problem of having three dies and no actualy center to put the cooler on, thus way higher risk of cracking silicon. alternatively, ill try just using the stock ihs in an LM sandwich... u got enough clearance for that? might be easier to just point a 120/140mm fan onto the ssd 😄 welp, considering 14th gen is basically a "gift" for socket 1700 owners im not complaining. one more gen for my lady's machine to be upgrade to, ill take it! especially if it turns out more efficient than 13th gen 😃 btw bro @Mr. Foxi just started back at zero with my ram tuning, i encountered the exact thing u mentioned with regards to errors popping up due to thermals. going back to stock timings at 6400 gear 1 and will tune vdd/vddq first, then start again with the timings...
  12. welcome back my dude, grab a cookie and start posting computer hardware goodies! although we are of a dying breed here with customizable laptop hardware, there are still tons of ppl around taking good care of the golden generation DTRs 😁 as for the rest of us, we jumped onto desktops and are now going crazy with all the new possibilities hahaha
  13. this popped up completely randomly in my youtube feed this morning, been listening to it almost on a LOOP (pun intended 😂) at work. that dude is a madlad, taking everyday sounds and remixing them into crazy vibe songs. hope he does more house style stuff like this:
  14. 10c lower on idle, thats insane. just goes to show how crappified "stock" windows is...
  15. ah yes, Dr. Ian Cutress, definitely known for his insane deepdives, be it silicon related or otherwise haha. word! oh for this one ill be VERY curious about the argumentation. in general i would say that GN did the right thing, you should ALWAYS name and shame if someone does BS and causes harm to consumers. be it a company, youtuber, whatever...
  16. duuuuude, way to introduce yoursefl with a BANG! awesome numbers on both the RAM and the CPU, NOICE! hoping to get such numbers once im done tweaking 😛 im still working my way up with the RAM, just takes so damn long to optimize and test for stability haha. but still fun!
  17. whats your setup again? subtoptimal gpu util points towards a bottleneck somewhere, either hardware based on cpu or RAM or potentially also game engine based. its been a few years since crysis 3 released, after all...u might wanna check online on the engine. as for hardware, whats your setup again? might wanna look into this nifty lil tool Intel just recently released, supposedly its great for identifying gpu/cpu bottlenecks:
  18. sooooo bro Fox what would be next on your list of potential hobbies, should PC hardware just get too crappy to bother with? open for input 🙂 Huh! MSI Kingpin cards....you got my attention! In the end, almost doesnt matter where Vince lands, as long as he keeps up the good work 🙂 only sometimes? 😛 as for the "muscling their way around", EVGA had a pretty good approach, where they would keep most of their findings close to the chest and throw smoke bombs so that Nvidia wouldnt be able and figure out how they did what they did. seemed to work quite nicely. plus, with kingpin cards so ultra highend, i think Nvidia doesnt care about that super duper small subpart of the already tiny enthusiast community that this would affect. dayum, thats seems like quite the card...wonder if that hybrid approach hinders an "air only" cooling setup, although it wouldnt be intended for that... welp, problem is if china really goes down the drain theyll suck the rest of the world down with them. similar to when the US housing market crashed, we all felt the consequences 😞 lets hope it wont be like that again...
  19. golden times ahead for 40 series owners, yehaw! at least until Nvidia starts locking EVERYTHING down, including crossflashing official signed vbios versions 😅☠️
  20. interesting thread, ill chime right in: my current build is actually the very first time i ever did some research with regard to keyboards. before that i just went by looks alone (i knooooow, i was a kb noob haha). i definitely wanted fullsize with numpad, wanted DBT caps for longer lifetime and after trying some switches i went the MX Brown route (Reds too linear / floppy for my taste and Blues too loud/clicky). in the end i chose Ducky, seen tons of great user reviews on them. when the time came to order my components, just so happened that the One 3 was released, so thats what i went with: from what ive seen, Ducky is basically one of the last stations u go before going full custom / self build keyboards 😄 i dont think ill ever get into it, kb are more like tools for me, no actual passion behind it. but for my first desktop build in 15 years i figured id spoil myself. the typing experience is grand, work and play are both tons of fun using this keyboard. its quite hefty in weight, feels premium, but at the same time minimialistic (i.e. no bloatware software that comes with it, everything is done via macros). switched are replaceable and i thought the color scheme is refreshingly different from the usual black / white / red stuff 🙂 my lady still thinks its WAY TOO LOUD, but then again shes not really used to mechanical kb, she prefers quieter membrane keys 😄 when we had guests over recently, she was trying to explain to them what kinda kb i had, and was like: its something old-school clicky LOUD like the keyboards they used to make in the olden days. my reaction to that: i still love her though! 😄
  21. had to chuckle at that 😄 oh boy, welcome to the endlessly deep rabbit hole of windows decrapping / tuning my friend.... 😄 at some point ull have to probably go a step back cuz u realize u just removed some part that u need for a specific application haha. unless you only use that OS for benching 🙂 Bitsum Park Control is nice, ive been using it for quite a while now.
  22. haha yep basically thats whats keeping me from playing that game...saw the IGN review on it and the reviewer played BG3 nonstop for 3 weeks and beat the game after 130 hours playtime...aint no well in hell i have that kinda freetime anymore! lulz
  23. weeell good thing is now ure able to crossflash that 4090 FE 😉 downloaded and saved for future use, as well!
  24. the thing that lets hardware degrade and die off quickly is voltage and heat. so just do some testing, if theres not much additional heat and u dont overvolt theres no real worries 🙂
