  1. yeah man, take it easy, let us other folks have a jab at brand spanking new hardware first, then u can smash us down later again ๐Ÿ˜„ im imagining a 90yr old Fox with a long white beard still benching along ๐Ÿ˜ looking around the forum and other places its fascinating to see how many enthusiasts are sitting out this gen. just goes to show that its an advantage to go anti-cyclic with purchasing hardware. now that the market is SO over saturated and everyone and their dog bought new hardware or system during the pandemic, theres more hope for my kind to be actually able and get new hardware at MSRP on launch day ๐Ÿ˜„ so far its been going pretty nicely, got both a 7950X and an Asus ROG Crossfire X670E Extreme at or below MSRP on launch day. today ill be sniping a pixel 7 pro, currently eyeing the Made by Google live stream and checking google store for when purchases go live ๐Ÿ˜› u gotta be kidding, do brother @Prema and I actually share bdays? thats hilarious ๐Ÿ˜„๐Ÿค˜
  2. true, for that one im not sure yet. main thing for me is to have hardware on hand to be able and enjoy my limited gamer days. whenever the X3D chips come out and actually prove their worthiness in third party reviews, i might reconsider and go a step up. that is, however, only if they offer a 7950X3D. if they only go up to 7800X3D or 7900X3D ill stick to my 16 core beast instead ๐Ÿ™‚
  3. im surprised they didnt kick you out of the average joe club already ๐Ÿ˜„
  4. keeping a lookout on any new info ๐Ÿ™‚ as will all of us here, surely! ๐Ÿ˜
  5. this whole "keeping binned chips for themselves" has so far only been rumours, any hard facts / sources to actually back that up? definitely not enough for me to splurge on an FE card ๐Ÿ˜… same with the wattage, so far only rumours that cards "might" go above 450W. ive heard that basically all cards are actually designed for 600+W but that last minute Nvidia puiled the decision and reduced TDP to 450W. still, we dont know yet what the actually reachable TDP max will be for FE and AIB cards. as for custom / high wattage vbios versions, they tend to leak out sooner or later, so not really worried about accessibility ๐Ÿ˜„
  6. OP updated with details on the mouse and also an additional section for planned system upgrades in the near future (minor upgrades that is, i.e. cooling, storage, lighting, etc.). Btw, Asus mainboard reserved for my order and confirmed in stock, hoping for a shipping conirmation by tomorrow! As for CPU AiO, Keyboard and Case, they should all be in stock and hopefully shipping by end of this week ๐Ÿ™‚
  7. i doubt average joe would care about 24 Mhz in exchange for the added noise ๐Ÿ˜„
  8. not surprising tbh, the trends ive been seeing especially for DDR5 are craaaaazy. I couldve saved 70โ‚ฌ just by waiting for 2 weeks when ordering my 6600 kit from G.Skill haha
  9. yes the FE look sleek and its best in class in terms of pricing....but warranty is just at minimum level (2 years) plus Nvidia is known for locking down its FE cards HARD in terms of vBios flashing. two factors I cannot ignore and why I very likely be going with Zotac and their 5 yr warranty. Thanks for linking the official prices btw! Gives me a better idea of what kinda price to expect in Europe, should be around 2050-2100โ‚ฌ and that means that Caseking is already overpricing their listed Zotac 4090 cards by a lot (i.e. Airo going for 2279โ‚ฌ). And yeah, Asus has completely lost their minds this time around....so far I havent seen ANYTHING justifying such insane prices for their skus, especially the Strix OC model. Anyone care to enlighten me here? LOL im literally just watching Roman's vid right now and thought to myself: holy crap, that card looks HUGE in his "tiny" hands! ๐Ÿ˜‚
  10. ok cool then, so no buyer's remorse from my side! (unlikely anyways haha)
  11. sounds like u made the right decision ๐Ÿ™‚
  12. welp....ure comparing running Noctua fans balls to the wall vs. an AiO. no matter what cpu u compare at such baselines, ull likely get very similar results in terms of clocks gained or temps lowered. Id wager aside from the likes of brother @Mr. Fox the regular user would not use his cooling fans full tilt all the time. That said, if you look at the whole cooling range, clock difference DO indeed become very significant, but all of them at the same target temp, namely 95C. As mentioned before, compare this with how a gpu behaves at stock. Strap an AiO on a 3090 Ti and it'll only clock max. 100 Mhz higher, if at all compared to a good air cooler. No difference here, CPUs, especially AMD ones, are becoming more and more like GPUs in their boosting behaviour. And just like GPUs have a temp target, so do CPUs now. I have to disagree here. A threshold at which performance degrades would be more like how Intel CPUs behave. They have a set max. multicore boost, i.e. 5.2 Ghz all core, which holds steady until TjMax / thermal throttling point is reached, upon which they start to downclock. Zen 4 does not behave like that, it rather "looks" at the given thermal headroom / cooling implemented and boosts as high as it can go until reaching 95C, at which point it plateaus. Thus, the temperature is now less meaningful than the actually reached clocks. A good indicator for this difference in behaviour is the fact that ALL four Zen 4 CPUs show this behaviour and shoot up to exactly 95C no matter what kind of cooling is applied. If it was just a fact of the cpus "running hot", then surely a 6 core 7600X would show way lower peak temps and a 7950X, no? But instead, they all target the same set 95C and just differ in the respective clocks. Granted, as GN recently detailed in a video, there actually IS also a power cap in addition to the target temp, so throwing LN2 on the chip does not mean itll still boost all the way up to 95C, that would entail reaching 1000W+ lulz ๐Ÿ˜„ Point here being, that the power cap is way way higher than ambient cooling could conceivable provide thermal headroom for to keep below 95C. Thanks for bringing up this point, as I already mentioned above in reply to brother Fox! One thing to consider here is also that this 95C temp target is only for heavy all core loads. Gaming and regular desktop usage will not push the cpus far enough for them to be pegged at 95C 24/7. So as opposed to Intel chips, where crappy vendors such as Dell or Apple just let them hit TJMax at 100C and throttle to kingdom come, this 95C set point did not come from a vendor or from insufficient cooling, but rather directly from AMD to instruct Zen 4 cpus to boost as long as 95C is not reached and the much higher wattage cap is not breached either. Exactly! I think its pretty safe to assume that not thermal throttling or melt-downs will happen if AMD specifically set this target temp for clock boosting at 95C. Again, to clarify here, since a LOT of people are so used to Intel cpu boosting behaviour and seem to draw the wrong conslusions: - the 95C temp target is not comparable to the Intel cpu TjMax. the former is a set point, until which clocks are boosted, the latter is a threshhold, upon reaching starts to decrease clocks due to thermal throttling. the end results are vastly different from each other. - Since all Zen 4 cpus have that thermal set point at 95C, its not just about "HAHA AMD cpu runs hot and goes brrrrrr" it just rather means than in order to judge a cooling implementation, clocks are now more important than temps. - the 95C set point is not set in stone. If you dont like it, just change it in bios! "problem" solved ๐Ÿ˜„
  13. and now lets include the most important factor here: frequency and thus performance ๐Ÿ˜‰ 95C is just the target to which the cpu will boost to. improve the cooling, temp target stays the same buuuut... clocks go higher! thats the whole idea bud ๐Ÿ˜„ at this point 95C is just a number, doesnt really tell u anything. gotta look at the resulting frequency. its not comparable to intel cpus where hitting TJMax would result in thermal throttling. the clocks just "stop climbing", they dont regress.
  14. kool. although a bit late to the market, still curious to see what the upcoming 990 pro has to offer. i have a feeling thats gonna be the pcie 4.0 drive they "should have" introduced right from the get go, i.e. correcting their "meh" 980 Pro lineup.
  15. i dont really have a proper context for an RX6600 Desktop, how does it compare to 2080S and 3080 mobile?
  16. well generally, as long as u only mess with clocks and not voltage (which aint possible with current gpus anyways, except unverdolting) temps shouldnt change much, thus deterioration rates would not increase at all. best thing to do, of course, is to do both UV and OC at the same time ๐Ÿ™‚
  17. congratz on the long-distance move, i know how u feel! same goes for the significant climate change, getting used to the cold yet? i think ill still need a while... ๐Ÿ˜…
  18. aha, ok! that config would change things up consideably, having both top and bottom intakes ๐Ÿ™‚ good thing that caseking provides such config templates, kudos to them! thats weird stuff with the eiswolf 2 bud, makes me skeptical to invest money in that... be that as it may, ill have to check air cooling performance first on the 4090 and see what i can improve there via liquid metal, repadding (depending on how godรณd/bad the stock pads are) and hopefully some 600+W leaked vbios without EVGA KP to help us out this time....
  19. nice find, i especially like the fact that redditor was able to push the TDP to 130W+, thus making this a fullblown desktop 6600 ๐Ÿ™‚
  20. thatll take yeaaaars before we see anything even resembling an early alpha... but still, will be on the lookout
  21. boo indeed! BGA graphics FTL, why didnt they at least offer a 3080 option?! ugh... at least "nice" to see that all compatible cpus are ACTUALLY compatible with that machine's socket...soo...applause for implementing the absolute minimum, i guess?
  22. dude, talk about LAN flex ๐Ÿ˜„ noice!
  23. 60 bucks, WTH! is there at least an option for OG owners to get it for free or heavily reduced price? i dont care personally, just interested in game prices and this trend of remakes in general...
  24. and people here think IM doing a crazy-ass balls to the all, money no object build? id consider my upcoming setup in the "budget" class compared to this ๐Ÿ˜‚
