ive actually noticed the same for the regular Suprim X, saw the pricing on a particular online shop thats known for strictly sticking to MSRP pricing go up by 20€. not much yet, but maybe a sign of things to come. i was surprised at the start that the suprim 4090s were priced so low in comparison tbh, while being the ones with the strongest vrms and among the higher quality cards. so glad i got mine at the "super low" introductory price then! -
actually, havent they already changed the whole usb naming scheme to just list the speed? the usb 4 v2 moniker is supposed to just be for internal developer reference. consumer facing theyll just list Gbps: https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2022/09/usb-if-says-goodbye-to-confusing-superspeed-usb-branding/ in any case, i juuuuust got my first 40 gbps (usb 4 / tb 4) ports in with my new desktop build and wham heres the next gen already 😂 quite insane if you think about it: 40 gbps is already sufficient to saturate external PCIe 3.0 x4 drives, with the new 80 gbps doing the same for PCIe 4.0 x4 drives, craaaaazy

alright guys, finished installing Hyperion, next step is to collect all my data off the Dark Knight and transfer it over. also planning to temporarily empty my two 860 Evos so I can fuse them together in a RAID 0 config. does anyone know if TRIM is still available for a RAID ssd config? would have to test that before i keep it. currently in JBOD, but easier to use the whole space in RAID (plus advantage in sequential performance which is my priority for like 99% of the data on those two drives). while installing, couldnt keep myself from doing some quick 4090 testing and oc 😅😋 so far ive been able to push the core up to 3180 Mhz and VRAM to around 24+ Gbps, absolute BEAST this gpu. ill need to do proper stress testing though to check stability. temps are in the mid 60s with hotspot hitting 70-74C. this is with my case cooling still pretty barebones, only have the three push fans on the AiO in the front and the three gpu fans, thats it 😋

update on the neptune 4090, power range is 550 to 630W: https://m.expreview.com/85168.html -
yep ive seen this behaviour early on in reviews, i think it was HUB. i didnt know about the higher gaming perf with just one CCD though! wth guys, why do we always need ro deactivate smth, baby cores or a ccd with the new cpus? 😅 need to check how mine is behaving, apparently not all cpus show this behaviour. still busy installing and setting up everything, havent gotten around to much tuning yet.

still setting up Hyperion and already encountered some driver install issues, but for now im just barreling through all my apps n games to get it done asap. in any case, was just curious to check it out (naturally 😛), so did some quick n dirty oc on the 4090 with MSI AB, ended up with 3150 Mhz Core and 24.1 Gbps on the VRAM. hot dayum! -
noice, desktop boiiiis lets goooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

kool, keep us updated! direct comparison could pinpoint or rule out the psu 🙂 u also still have the stock one?

resist that temptation! get another sku instead for like 500 bucks less 😄 would be nice for corsair to get a bit more competition in that space. pricing is comparably crazy but at least with EVGA i have hope that there might be some worthwhile extras with it like software, tuning ability, good fans, etc. and not just an apple-esque "name" tax. word. -
depends how good the cooling is on them. might be that the thermal pads he has installed are crappy (stock) or that they dont make proper contact. if u exceed the limits too fast and too hard ull not get to see throttling but skip directly towards the trip / shutdown.

also stock psu and whenever i do stress testing im also reaching that 260W, thats the cap on the mobo. but ive only ever experienced sudden shutdowns when allowing the CPU to get consistently over 98-100C. i could imagine that maybe the nearby VRMs also get too hot and thus inefficient to be able and stay stable.

btw guys, preliminary review on the 13900K, apparently some lucky dude ordered one online and they actually send it out to him 😄 -
wooooooooow.... dont drop it dude! 😅
-
yep exactly, i noticed the same. @GT3000 set the PROCHOT value to 98C in TS and the issue should be resolved 🙂

wouldve been an awesome way to pass the waiting time, getting to know Arc in depth and providing tons of info to the community here :) too bad theres nothing available... -
shouldnt be possible on stock bios on this machine, since the mobo has a wattage limit implemented which cant just be switched off that easily. so either temp issues or indeed defective psu.

thats the thing, one one side u have expensive parts and platform but long-term support, on the other hand u have a dead-end platform with more value options (i.e. lower end cpus and DDR4)
-
hmmm....any tweaks uve implemented via TS? ive encountered the same when setting PROCHOT value too high under prolonged cpu stress.

true, prices didnt help at all. means intel will not be able to charge anything similar, even if its at a slight discount vs. Zen4. probably why theyre planning to lay off such a huge number of their employees, keep those margins high! https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2022-10-11/intel-is-planning-thousands-of-job-cuts-in-face-of-pc-slowdown im guessing platform cost for one, having two chipsets instead of one for X670E, add to that DDR5 only, PCIe 5, just too many new tech revisions all at once. plus they were likely super confident on the back of their Zen3 success and with 1 month+ of having the market to themselves before Intel's RPL. i guess they were a bit too optimistic haha
-
we will only find out once RPL and 7000X3D drop, if this is really due to market decline or poor reception 😄

ure right my man, forgot to tell u that the Thor series is insanely expensive in comparison 😅 as for which gpu side to pick, if you can (unlike me) wait for it, let RDNA3 drop first and only then make the decision 🙂 that would be the strategic thing to do. -

awesome to see another mobile DTR bro switching to the fabled desktop land 😄 u could maybe also go with an ROG Thor P2 1000W, its not white all around but has interesting bright accents: can (almost) never go wrong with either Corsair or Seasonic for PSUs, with EVGA models currently being pretty brilliant bang-per-buck value. saner heads have prevailed....phew. this was an important lesson for scalpers that its not worth anymore to do it with gpus. maybe theyll now move on to sneakers or smth 😛 no judgement here bud, were all a bit OCD one way or another. anyone who says otherwise is lying 😄 you know, i dont like admitting that, but i kinda feel the same way. its not like I LOVE it now, design-wise, but it has also indeed grown on me, while i initially hated it. kinda like that taste of alcohol or cigarettes? 🤣 all acquired tastes (and nah, i dont smoke and barell ever drink anymore 😛 ) in any case though, i absolutely LOVE my Suprim X! 🥰😍
