That patch looks quite substantive, glad to see they put their money where their principles are.

*Official Benchmark Thread* - Post it here or it didn't happen :D
Reciever replied to Mr. Fox's topic in Desktop Hardware
Good Lord, Newegg too? I only buy off the second hand market so I dont tend to see much of the retail practices these days. Used to buy from Newegg exclusively but stepped away around the time I used laptops full time. EDIT: Just wanted to ask as I know the Desktop / Benchmarks thread was picture heavy but have things been working well here? I believe the methodology we used was to load as you scroll so that it becomes more performance agnostic for individual members. -

Thanks to @Aaron44126 attention to details, I realized that I incorrectly listed Notebooktalk.com, what we had acquired was actually Notebooktalk.net and I have made the change in the poll options to reflect that. -
Notebook Review forum archive – NBRCHIVE
Reciever replied to Aaron44126's topic in General Discussion
These are all being explored in due time. That being said, NBR is gone. There is no database as we were never granted access to it. We did archive nearly everything that we could which was a majority of the site. So while its currently out of reach for most, its not gone. Once we flesh out a few other things I will present means for how people can contribute, just depends on timing and means etc etc since its only myself and @Hiew paying the bills currently. Also @mention's work the same way as before so be sure to take advantage of that function :)- 150 replies

Zotac 1070 needed the MSi vBIOS in order to work on the internal panel for the Ranger (17 R1) I assume that may be the case for the AW18 as well What also tends to help is installing an RDP protocol so you can remote to the system, grants a little more flexibility when hashing out this process.

While it is very much a work in progress, I can state without a doubt we have saved that information. Now it comes down to trying to get into a format that can be more easily accessible. That portion will take time.

Welcome (back?) to the forum, Im not completely aware of all mods, and I do think Techtarget, despite basically giving up on forums generally speaking also had a hand in the rules that were put in place. Some of the mods are here and have thankfully agreed to help us run the moderation team, that being said, if you feel slighted in some particular scenario please PM us. We are just as human as the rest of us and there times where mistakes are made. I am certainly not above this either. Heres to helping the forum grow and spreading knowledge to the consumer! :)

Alienware X14 Order or Release Date?
Reciever replied to ssj92's topic in Alienware X14 / 15 /17 / M15 / 17 R5+ 2021+
Are you using the internal panel or external? The Alienware laptops of that era could switch around (as you know) so sometime I think maybe that's why they had better results? No idea, could be a list of parts contributing to input lag. -

Would love to see it when you complete the comparison! -
Lets try to keep it similar to NBR. That being said if you want to engage in that discussion in a PM that is perfectly fine.
-
Well you should probably dig into it yourself if your so bothered about it. I have no idea, nor is it my responsibility to provide receipts for that as it holds no merit or principle in terms of this discussion.

The rules have been the same since before this forums inception. The PG aspect of this forum was inherited by NBR which such a determination years before this forum's inception. Also, you agreed to the terms when signing up for the forum, which are linked in the Terms of Service when creating an account. Which is hosted in a couple of location , one you described in your post and one other. See here: https://efgxt.net/terms/ You can demo Invision for 14 days. See here: https://invisioncommunity.com/clientarea/demo/ This by definition, is something you can grab and test.

If you have such criticism for a software you admit yourself "dont know much about" then I would recommend the same advise you, yourself, dont seem follow despite recommending to others. Hone your argument so you can critique something in a productive manner. Just like in the other posts that I have had to curtail on your behalf, as you seem to selectively follow the rules here. A lot of your criticisms that you have pointed towards Invisionboard are a direct reflection on decisions made by the Admins on this forum. This goes without saying, but I will lay it out regardless that this means a majority of the issues you claim to have with Invision are in fact issues with decisions made by myself and @Hiew while still pointing towards Invision in ignorance.

@K4sum1 Would you like to suggest something else that works with this forum software?

I agree with you if it wasnt for the fact that it was the second sale, and the second time that forum screwed its userbase. None of the changes made were a consequence of the forum moving to something else instead of what it was, who ever they sold to uses x software therefore OCN will now use x software. userbase be damned. Changed the domain to overclock.com even though its known as OCN (only to revert to overclock.net anyways) Deleted member flares (1-5 Flames for REP counts) Deleted Seller REP Stopped MOTM Stopped Case Mod of the Month Broke and Deleted Curated News Got rid of the Blue flame for a time Downright insulting and condescending Moderators (after the original guard had retired) Thats just what I recall, and I havent logged in over there since either 2017 or 2018.

This forum isn't phpbb, so it's irrelevant for this thread. If you would like to make a review of each product I would be interested in reading it. However, it doesn't belong here.

From what OCN originally was to where it is now, xenforo did absolutely nothing to either maintain or promote growth of that community. That's what happens when the site gets sold twice and it's user base is tossed around and told to deal with it. OCN was my original forum to post and its basically dead to me. This was mostly due to the ignorance and lack of laptop information.

We went with Invisionboard because of the modularity that possible with it, no guarantees of course but I will put it on the list and see if it's viable for us here.

Everyone, its time to decide our brand!
Reciever replied to Reciever's topic in Internal Announcement Discussion
Those rules are by design. In my opinion if you must see results before voting then it's not your vote anymore. Had absolutely nothing to do with Invision, and everything to do with the Admin team actually putting that in place. Next, I'm going to kindly ask that you operate within the rules you agreed to about less than 24 hours ago. Keep it PG rated. Next I am of the mindset that we need to allow for growth in other genre's or at the very least allow it grow. This is not to be confused with becoming an all purpose forum, or LTT. In fact we looked at LTT as example of how vague we don't want to leave our sub-forums generally speaking. The ideas and movements I have in mind for the forum (I believe) would set us apart as it's something that doesn't exist on any other forum that I am currently aware of. That all being said it would require much more from the members if we were to attempt building that out. Something I will announce soon after some additional consultation and review. If it's simply a matter of guiding other NBR members here we could have a thread named Notebookreview - from the ashes or something that makes sense from a search engine perspective. -

Alienware X14 Order or Release Date?
Reciever replied to ssj92's topic in Alienware X14 / 15 /17 / M15 / 17 R5+ 2021+
I'd like a 13" AW laptop, had the AW13 R3 but I was a bit misled (and a bit ignorant) as it has the Fn key for Graphics switching but there was no MUX on it so it doesnt actually switch anything...I had it for a year, really liked the chassis but I cant get used to the input lag Optimus can introduce. -
I remember the day of, went to school but at a certain part of the day there were no more lessons. I do remember the next day a lot of people stayed home, my mother at the time, told me that unless there were mushroom clouds just as sure as the sun rise each day I would be at school.
