  1. Hello! I definately put thermal paste before putting down the heatsink. I would never put the heatsink down without thermal paste. And I always put a lot of thermal paste. The only thing maybe that could have something to do with it is that I dont spread my thermal paste, so maybe that had something to do with it? But I don't think so.
  2. When did we have official 2x200W configuration and in which laptop? Seems a bit crazy. What kind of cooling solution was it using? And again, 250W + let's say 125W CPU - where will you get heatsink that can effectively get rid of 375W amount of heat? You know what could be a cool experiment? Running a desktop 4090 at TDP limit of 175W and running it against the mobile 4090 and comparing results. But would have to artificially increase the temperature so it is the same as in the laptop otherwise it would not be fair. Then we could see what the true benefit of full 4090 chip in laptop could potentially be.
  3. That's good. And try to use the same configuration that you had at the time of BIOS backup. Same CPU, same RAM etc. So that the BIOS doesn't have to configure itself for new hardware but should post from the get go.
  4. Yeah but how do you pack a 450W card in a laptop that uses a power brick less than that TDP for the whole laptop alone? It is impossible. CPU's don't use that much power on desktops. So you can actually achieve closer performance to desktops in a laptop because of it.
  5. Hi! I am no expert aswell and I am purely guessing. But if this was my computer I would believe that (altough very odd) the BIOS got corrupted or the NVRAM atleast got corrupted badly. First thing I would do is just reflash the same BIOS chip that is already on there with a backup of previously known good BIOS. I hope you have one. But as you have unlocked your BIOS I assume you must have atleast some sort of BIOS backup. I wouldn't like to think a simple RAM timing change or RAM change would have broken your laptop. God is my witness then my P775TM1-G would be long gone in heaven for the things I have put it through by just extreme trial and error experimenting xD And that includes on the fly RAM timing changes, RAM swaps so many I can't count etc. My best guess is the BIOS. Do a reflash! Also, once you start troubleshooting the BIOS - if you flash the BIOS do a checksum of what you flashed and write it down. Let the laptop boot with the fresh flash if it doesn't post - dump the contents of the BIOS chip and recheck checksum. If the checksum has changed it means the laptop is trying to post and is making changes in the BIOS NVRAM most likely. So not completely dead. A post code card could help perhaps but I am not sure. Good luck and keep us updated! Would be a shame to see it die after all the mods and quality of life improvements 😕
  6. I don't mean nothing bad. If I remember correctly I ran my finger across them aswell and it felt smooth. But it wasn't. Just don't want any accidents like I had. Anyways, hope the best! Maybe I just had a bad batch you never know. And anyways after I did some polishing it was alright! But only after some polishing on mine could you really start to see some imperfections on the surface. And for me there were imperfections on both GPU/CPU. On CPU you don't have to worry as much as the IHS protects from anything bad. On GPU it's not good news.. Anyways, keep us updated with the temps! Curious about your CPU temps. For GPU my heatsink works wonderfully (even after scratching my die -_-) but CPU is still 100C bakery xD

  9. As if the X170KM-G by default doesn't throttle. Also 2.4-2.7GHz??? Source? Because today I saw it easily sit in 4,4GHz P-Core and 3,3 E core or something. Yes, the 4070 is complete ass. Yet the 4080 and 4090 is just day and night difference. btw the one I screenshotted was for 4080 version not 4070. And most improtantly look at this 4090 just beating a 3080/3080 Ti BY 10000 freaking TimeSpy points. It is not overrated at all. Clevo DTR's are overrated at this point. I am just so sad I actually spent my money on the so disappointing 3080 mobile upgrade. What a shame.
  10. Those are rather odd needs to have in a laptop but I guess you have a point. There is a 17inch variant aswell although a bit more expensive. And there is not really that big of a need for more than 2 memory slots as none of them ran quad channel memory anyways. And you can get up to 64GB in 2 slots. I guess the only reason would be if somebody needed 128GB? And storage, well you can always get a bigger drive instead of putting in multiple UNLESS somebody needs like idk 20 something TB?!?! =D
  11. I just wish it wasn't crashing for you all the time =( Is it crashing idle or under load or both? Have you tried disabling CPU C states? I recently found out that was what kept my undervolts not so stable. By disabling C-States I have a stable -135mV undervolt. Maybe it could help with your stability issues? The drawback of course is the CPU is not entering power saving modes. Which means higher power draw pretty much in every scenario. But it is not that bad, and if it helps it could be worth it. For me it is like this - during idle and low CPU usage loads it is using more power than before, sometimes a lot more. However under 100% load because of the heavy undervolt it is using actually less power. Recently I watched a Linus Tech Tips video where they had a computer randomly crash a lot and disabling C states fixed it. That's why I thought of that. I wasn't able to disable C-States in BIOS (as many of the things I assume it is bugged for P775). But I was able to disable them using ThrottleStop. I would try first BIOS then ThrottleStop. I kept an eye whether they are active or not using HWinfo sensor readouts. Good luck!

Here 2K price for: Intel® Core™ i9 24-Core Processor 13900HX GeForce RTX 4080 240Hz QHD Panel (2560 x 1600), sRGB 100% 16GB 4800MHz DDR5 Liquid Metal by default AX211 WIFI The X170KM-G is not even close in performance to this one. To be honest all the DTR have lost a lot of value in my eyes. I would never pay 2.3K for it nowadays when you can get much faster option. And whats the point of having MXM if it costs an arm and a leg to buy a replacement if it dies? Also the fact that there is not going to be anything newer than 3080 makes it dead standard now anyway.
  13. I think it should. But I think its better then to sell your current computer and get one with 4080. The difference between 3080 and 4080 is HUGE. Difference between 2080 and 3080 is not so big.
  14. Yeah that's what I meant. No automatic updates, but INF mod will do. Also the stock heatsink most likely is not compatible with the 2080 Super/3080. And G-Sync most likely will not work. Everything else should be good to go. Even 200W should be available from the get go.
  15. You won't be able to update your drivers without additional mods, but it will work.
  16. My best guess at that point is that it is a BIOS bug. In regards to RAM overclock the BIOS is buggy as hell. Tertiary timings is basically incomplete as they exist but don't do anything. Can't change to Command Rate to 1 it doesn't stick same like your voltage. And I believe it is bugged after 3333MHz aswell. I think it happens because by default you don't have an XMP profile on the sticks. Can you perhaps flash an XMP profile on the SPD and check if you can apply voltage then? For me I have had sticks that don't boot with 1.35V but that's exactly what happens, they get stuck in bootloop. That being said I do have a P775TM1-G but I think the BIOS should be exactly same between 751 and 755. Only other thing that comes to my mind is maybe if you had unlocked BIOS you could set the voltage in the other OC section of the BIOS. There are 2 of them. One is stock and one can be only seen on unlocked BIOS. There are more options regarding RAM and Voltage above 1.35 and below 1.2. Maybe setting it through there would make it stick.
  17. Got new best results in RAM OC. I don't think I can possibly push my sticks more. Now just need to get thermals under control. Or find better binned sticks in general.
  18. In this very thread somebody flashed dsanke BIOS with windows flashing, its not recommended but still possible =D I would say much higher chance than 20%.

  20. They should be compatible but no reason to put Xeons because they are not better than the top end i9? Or am I missing something here?
  21. No some people have had success with windows flasher. Just have to use at own risk.
  22. It should stick. What BIOS are you on? Also, does it get stuck in a boot loop after setting 1.35 or just doesn't apply?
  23. You should ask someone the panels that came originally for the P775TM1-G. If a newer panel is installed G-Sync will most likely not work anymore. There are per panel stuff in the BIOS for G-Sync to work.
