  1. Some more updates on the PTM7950. I applied it to my 920XM CPU. Beats IC Diamond easily. IC Diamond reached 89-92C max temps when overclocked to 3.7Ghz (stock 2.26Ghz). PTM7950 reaches low-mid 80s max temps when overclocked to 3.7Ghz (stock 2.26Ghz). My 2960XM is hitting 100C at 3.7Ghz right now in my other laptop. Will put PTM7950 on PU & SLI GPUs and report back when I do. Plan to do at least 4Ghz on this one and I think PTM7950 will easily allow that. So far for laptops this is the best stuff next to liquid metal without any hassle of needing to create a barrier.
  2. It's funny, all these laptops are expensive. Yet, thanks to a 15% off coupon, my maxed out m18 was actually a really good price ($32xx after tax). I know AW gets crap for being expensive, but these other brands are very expensive as well (especially razer and msi). Dell normally always has some sort of coupon going or you can always talk on chat or phone for a discount. I could have paid even less if I went with 16GB RAM & 512GB SSD, but with the 15% coupon, it wasn't a bad deal going 32GB/1TB. I just wish 13980HX was an option already. My laptop is already in production so I may just keep it as is, just hope the 13900HX I get is a decent bin.
  3. @razor0601 was the one I think who got one working in aw18 with stock m18x r2 heatsink
  4. I think someone here got it working by using m18x r2 gpu heatsink. It barely fits but works fine.
  5. Grabbed an old Alienware M15x. Upgraded CPU from i7 820QM to 920XM and overclocked to 3.7Ghz. Original Physics score was 4861. 75.6% increase in performance. Next off is 980M πŸ˜‰
  6. Wow that's a...not good lol Kinda happy I went with Intel 13th gen.
  7. Try windows 7, 8.1, 11 and se if issue exists. 980m sli is officially supported on aw18
  8. I can unplug the power on all my laptops (1st gen i7 all the way to 12th gen 12700h) and all of them can run full power. did I miss something? Only gpu throttled with power adapter removed
  9. My friend and I just ordered ours yesterday. i9 13900HX 32GB RAM 1TB SSD QHD 165Hz RTX 4090 Arriving April 5th Unfortunately 13980HX isn't available yet with m18. If it becomes available before my order goes to production I may cancel and get it with 13980HX.
  10. It’s 100% confirmed this is coming to m18 and m16. Only thing is, not until Q2
  11. I'm going to be performing this same upgrade in a week. Hopefully it works out. I will try to limit mine to 90W instead of ~80W though if I can.
  12. I’ve decided to go with 980M
  13. Now the question is, can they turn on PBO and can they OC I saw someone else on reddit mention they get 34k so definitely higher than 13900hx/13980hx from factory
  14. Single Core: Multi-Core: Gaming: The main win is 120w TDP and slightly better multi-core but we will see how it performs once both 7945HX & i9 13980HX/13900HX are fine tuned. Hope the AMD cpu can be OC
  15. Looking for a OEM/Retail 920XM/940XM (no CPUs from China please, already had two bad ones from China). Located in US EDIT: FOUND
  16. It’s going inside an old Alienware M15x so probably not a good idea for me to risk a Clevo card in the M15x. Fan control works natively with Dell cards. I would really prefer M5000M as they run cooler than 980m
  17. EDIT: Bought 980M and it's working in M15x
  18. https://www.3dmark.com/compare/fs/19305249/fs/3684105 there is =] 1212mhz is definitely above the stock 135mhz limit.
  19. Maybe @TheQuentincc might also have one.
  20. Does anyone have vBIOS for M5000M and M4000M that allows OC, power limit adjustments etc? need dell or hp based vBIOS
  21. 4080 is good with 175w, it performs well. 4090 needs 225w at least so show it's strength. nVidia would be smart to push a vBIOS update to allow at LEAST 200w to widen the gap between 4080 and 4090 mobile.
  22. considering this is a kingpin card this is about as high as it gets. will be fun to see where 4090 lands in the right hands πŸ˜‰ I've seen over 20k on 4080 so far which is a good start.
  23. As I suspected, the 16-core top dawg from AMD isn't going to destroy i9 13980HX
  24. 7745HX (8c). If we double score for the 16c model it would get around 37k. i9 13980HX has some competition coming
