  1. I'm good now. My laptop comes tomorrow, super excited. I ordered honeywell ptm7958 phase change paste and I already have honeywell ptm7950 phase change pads. From my experience, these are the best for laptop thermals. If mine also hits 100c like that then the liquid metal is definitely not making proper contact. I may test on my x14 first but we'll see. I bought 32gb 4800mhz ram but will be curious because it says it supports 5600mhz and 5800mhz xmp. Personally I am waiting for the 48GB DIMMs to become available so I can do 96GB RAM upgrade. I might try 1TB RAID0 (2x1TB) to see if both 2280 slots are wired to CPU. Should get 10-14gbps speeds if it works.
  2. Something is definitely wrong with 13th gen mobile results right now. Even @Prema OC 13900HX gets 22k cpu score which isn't much more than those lower core count : https://www.3dmark.com/spy/36096687 My laptop is coming Thursday so I'll get to properly play around with it
  3. Does anyone have i9 13900K/KS + RTX 4080 that can run a stock timespy and firestrike run? Or anyone got a link to one that is for sure a stock run with said hardware? Also it looks like newer Win11 build gets lower scores than older builds/win 10? is that true?
  4. Some quick runs on my friends m18. Still waiting for mine: [last run before he left: https://www.3dmark.com/spy/36889484 ]
  5. Got to play with my friends m18 for a bit:
  6. He had the exact same issues. insane amount of light bleed horrible coil whine not so great build quality cpu performance not good. I mean I don’t expect the m18 to be trouble free either but I’m sure it’ll have a lot more options
  7. There should be a “thanks” button on my videos that allows you to tip. Other option is on my older videos (such as area-51m review) there should be a paypal donate link. the 18” laptops we get today are not the same as the older 18.4” models. The new ones are smaller, have a smaller screen, so they’re not as big as people may think. I plan to compare the size to my area-51m and m-18x. From the dimensions it’s similar to area-51m in size more than m18x. with the 15% off coupon the 4090 model isn’t much more expensive than 4080 models with tax. It’s definitely worth the upgrade especially the vram alone.
  8. Run 3dmark firestrike. 4810MQ can be OC using throttlestop to like 3.9ghz or something I think
  9. I hope you bought the 4090 model with that coupon. For $200 more than what you had paid, you would have gotten a nice upgrade. 4080 is nice but in a properly cooled system (m18) I expect 4090 to perform well.
  10. @Rengsey R. H. Jr.has g18 right now and ordered m18. he’s returning g18 if that’s any indication 😉
  11. Hmm did you use the 15% off coupon? mine was $3264 out the door for: i9 13900HX 32GB RAM RTX 4090 1TB SSD QHD 165Hz cherryMX keyboard Go here and enter email. You’ll get a code within 12-48 hrs. https://www.dell.com/preferences/signup/?c=us&l=en&s=bsd&ref=cpcl_us-en-bsd-04-fcca82af-9bb0-4ca0-a440-2bbb2a2cf418-dell-coupon-codes-saving-1-new_cta_link_signmeup
  12. It can run full speed. I tested 512gb but no 1tb or higher. No power drain either. Someone else told me that they have trouble reocgnizing higher capacity ssds. I burned mine accidently along with gtx 1080 long time ago so I cannot test it further
  13. I want to undervolt my 980M to 1.00v , how would I do that in maxwell bios editor? Or better yet, is it possible to unlock the voltage, power, and clock sliders? I would love to be able to slide the voltage down in nvidia inspector or msi afterburner
  14. I have one of those. Works fine, don’t know if it works with super high capacity ssds though.
  15. Asus G18 built quality is no where near Alienware m18. My friend was going to get G18 with 4080 until I showed him the m18 and helped him get the 15% coupon. He will get his m18 one day before me since he paid for next day shipping lol. I get free 2-day air with my dell account, he's more impatient than me.
  16. Yes I am. But to be fair the competition already has 13980HX CPUs out. They have QHD 240Hz displays out too. At this rate I might as well have waited for R2 model. Original plan was to cancel 13900HX model & buy 13980HX but they already took so long to release 4090 GPUs that the 13980HX might still be months away. Dell does offer 30-day returns so worse case would be I return it and go 13980HX or 7945HX but it all depends how my 13900HX performs. 4080 model is $2,705.34 after tax with 15% coupon here. 4090 model is $3,264.13 after tax with 15% coupon code. tax here is nearly 10%. Difference of $558.79 which is a bit more than I was expecting (400-500 max). However, at this price point I'd rather go big or go home, especially with 12GB vs 16GB VRAM difference too. My laptop delivers March 29th as of now so we will see.
  17. Right now there is no 4K panels for 18" as far as I know. AW has heard everyone about 300nit screens, however, not sure if they will be able to implement it in R1. The 240hz QHD display might be possible in R1 since the ASUS uses it, but probably won't be available as an option anytime soon.
  18. Some more updates on the PTM7950. I applied it to my 920XM CPU. Beats IC Diamond easily. IC Diamond reached 89-92C max temps when overclocked to 3.7Ghz (stock 2.26Ghz). PTM7950 reaches low-mid 80s max temps when overclocked to 3.7Ghz (stock 2.26Ghz). My 2960XM is hitting 100C at 3.7Ghz right now in my other laptop. Will put PTM7950 on PU & SLI GPUs and report back when I do. Plan to do at least 4Ghz on this one and I think PTM7950 will easily allow that. So far for laptops this is the best stuff next to liquid metal without any hassle of needing to create a barrier.
  19. It's funny, all these laptops are expensive. Yet, thanks to a 15% off coupon, my maxed out m18 was actually a really good price ($32xx after tax). I know AW gets crap for being expensive, but these other brands are very expensive as well (especially razer and msi). Dell normally always has some sort of coupon going or you can always talk on chat or phone for a discount. I could have paid even less if I went with 16GB RAM & 512GB SSD, but with the 15% coupon, it wasn't a bad deal going 32GB/1TB. I just wish 13980HX was an option already. My laptop is already in production so I may just keep it as is, just hope the 13900HX I get is a decent bin.
  20. @razor0601 was the one I think who got one working in aw18 with stock m18x r2 heatsink
  21. I think someone here got it working by using m18x r2 gpu heatsink. It barely fits but works fine.
  22. Grabbed an old Alienware M15x. Upgraded CPU from i7 820QM to 920XM and overclocked to 3.7Ghz. Original Physics score was 4861. 75.6% increase in performance. Next off is 980M 😉
  23. Wow that's a...not good lol Kinda happy I went with Intel 13th gen.
