How in hell can Nvidia charge $1,199 and come away from it? I think nvida did same misstake on the pricing for the 4080 as they tryed launch a scam 12GB 4080 card. They did a double misstake at release. Or was it just greed or stupidity? And is this todays Joke? More NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 Custom Models Listed.... Loads of people have a lot money/or just stupid. They will jump on it anyway. Regardless of price. Looks like 4090 cables are being replaced. But not from Nvidia. Who's nex AIC partner that will follow EVGA? Maybe there is a dirty game playing on behind closed doors. Nvidia try push the blame over the fire and smoke over on their partners. Many reasons we still have not have seen a public announcement from Nvidia. -

I won the deal🙂 And now I have to buy a few more compression fittings. Those I have in spare is wrong outer diameter' oh'well Maybe CableMods is next on the frying list?😀 And why did CableMod go for double seam terminals? Wasn't it Buildzoid that said this type cheapo made adapters (with dual split) from Nvidia you should avoid? I don’t think this is supposed to happen? Brand new pro cable kit, was doing back of case cable management and this pin pulled completely out on GPU side while plugged in. -

The best thermal paste in the world can't compete with solder. If you remember the old day with etc i7-3770K... Changing Intel's paste with liquid metal was more like +20C improvement. But LN2 benchers had to use the best thermal paste as replacement. Isn't it nice with support? Be happy we hav only one supplier for vRam for new modern high end Nvidia graphics cards😀 I would imagine bro Fox or bro John would be perplecs/angry if they saw the support have run the vram lottery, HaHa Different brand of memory on a single GPU, will there be any issue? https://hwbot.org/submission/5115710_papusan_cinebench___r23_multi_core_with_benchmate_core_i9_13900k_(8p)_25755_cb And this is results from AMD's brand new 8 core flagship... But their AIB partners will swap the adapters. I wonder whom gave them this instrucs. Nvidia themself? I think Nvidia's support team sit in their hole trying to figure out ways to "how they can talk this down". Looks like 4090 cables are being replaced. https://www.reddit.com/r/nvidia/comments/yodzba/looks_like_4090_cables_are_being_replaced/ -

Had a trip to the second hand market at home. Look what I found...🙂 Aqua Computer flow sensor, high flow NEXT (tested by igorslab). And well below half the price of a new. So I submitted a purchase request🙂 Almost all parts was sold out from the seller, so it was nice that the flow meter still was for sale. The new one from today is one of the worst I have seen. Killed even the GPU power connector. How many have a ticking New Years bomb from nvidia home?😀 Yep, I'm quite sure there will be some that will see some nice fireballs and smoke well before New Years Eve fireworks show. 4090 RTX Gigabyte adapter cable burned in the power port for the 4090 -

The pump in AIOs sit directly above the cold plate. I expect this help to reduce the clogging. And they use liquid that fits the cooling. And the metal alloy in the AIO components is matched. -

Papusan replied to Mr. Fox's topic in Desktop Hardware
Liquid metal lose conductivity with lower temp. Not very bad around zero but then the liquid metal starts being brittle while conductivity going east as well. Not the best if your cold plate is of pure copper. The chemical reaction start speed up from zero and downwards. Bad etc for laptop cooling with the weak and flimsy pressure mounting. Lm will start raising the cold plate from the die. But I wouldn’t worry too much. Replacing liquid metal is a fast job. And Nickel plated metal make it a lot easier to clean it off. -

Really stupid move from Intel put resistors and capacitors mounted so close to the IHS. They know very well that a lot people delidde their Cpus. Only hardcore benchers on sub cooling don't delidde because liquid metal is bad on sub zero temps. Sub zero means only Intels tim is usable. Edit. Good job bro Fox on the job 🙂 And for @tps3443He should forget sell his chips if he delidde it. Can't be used for LN2 then. -

I saw Jufes results from the delidd. But me think I only saw a gain of 5C. The rest was from the other he did. Yep, I think a lot is into the solder job. Even the IHS has some variance. Intel can't make all chips 100% equal. -

I just open the door so fresh air come in. But 13900K run quite ok regarding temps as long you don't max it out. A lot better than Alder lake. And yet, my bin is about average or slightly above. I think I will gain from adding a second pump. Will see if I find one used and cheap. I have a spare pump but the pump tops is ecual expensive as a new pump, so. Jep. I have seen some with good gain from delidding and some not. I think much is up to how good the soldering was done from Intel. Regarding AMD. I mean if you have an AMD graphics card the Cpu scores will be lower in many benches. Have seen it myself (intel cpu and AMD graphics). Not sure whats up with AMD. Maybe I do something wrong, but I don't think so. So from what I have seen, I avoid this brand. Even if benches was a bit better than Intel. The Red pill just doesn't fit me 🙂 -

Yes. bro Fox. I would put Ryzen Zen 4 in the same basket. I prefer not to by anything from AMD as well. This doesn't look fun. Even LN2 can't save it. I prefer have fun with what I pay for. 4090 is the only ADA card launched. There isn't any other options if you want a brand new card. And new cards also means people will fight to get the cards first. Aka prices will go up above MSRP. At release/launch day I coud get a card a hell lot cheaper than what they cost now. But once the card was out for over a week or so the prices went up. Thats the normal with a launch. The first one to buy have to pay higher prices. This is how the game is. Once AMD is out with their new cards and nvidia launch 4080 there will be easier and easier to get 4090. And at more normal prices. The worst problem for me is what models that will be available. I don't want jump on a model I don't like or want. Then I will rather sit and wait what to come. -

Thats not bad😎 Cheapest 4090 available here home is 2,736.47 USD (included tax). So don't whine brother😀 This is the price we had to pay for 3090 under the mining race (if we could find cards in the stores). -

EVGAs new stuff after they scrapped make graphics cards. All too much nope from me. Weird choices from EVGA. EVGA's new Octopus And here is more from todays new tech.......... A new native ATX 3.0 connector melted/burnt (MSI MPG A1000G) And CableMod stop shipping theirs while ModDIY reassured their cable is fine What a disaster this has become. New has to be better, LOOL -
You get a board for 200$ if you have to upgrade every year. This if you absolutely want stay on latest tech all time. And you can trade in your old MB to offset half of the costs. I can't see this is a huge problem. And you don't need high end MB for gaming. Neither do you need it for content creation/normal use. Your normal costs will always be around half of what you have to pay on the Store. If you want to go cheap then look after proper deals... They will always pop up 🙂 If you have to pay for ram you'll come sub 500$. Or cheaper if you buy used memory or have it from before. Use it one or two year, then pop in an cheap used 13900K (if you need more power) and ride it out. Can't be much cheaper than this. The worst cost will be a graphics cards. Not the platform. And you can still get a few cash back if you sell the well used old platform on the used market as long the pc still works as intended (here home... We don't have to pay a penny for selling our used items). I buy a lot used stuff for my hobby. And you don't have to or need to be with the newest all time 🙂

My edit above. Nvidia have now the golden chance to go back to Titan branding to max out profits from the full fat ADA and just let the down cut 4090 be the fastest geforce gaming card at +1600$. And nvidia only need to change 4080 price point now to fit in the 4080 Ti. What aboth 4080Ti@1299$ and $1099 for 4080 if the performance difference between 4080 and AMD cards isn't huge. Nvidia can upsell their better features if 4080 lack the full power to beat AMD overall. People may agree to pay 99$ for Nvidia's better features as long the card perform around the same. -

Maybe this will force Google to change their mind? Mozilla Firefox may continue support Windows 7 and 8.1 for longer Mozilla may extend Firefox on Windows 7 and 8.1 support. The company has scheduled its end of support for January 2023, but now considering shifting the EOS date.- 163 replies

LOOL. AMD wanted create a card that fits well in a small Dell Alienware chassis. HaHaaaaaaa. Maybe the idea come from Azor? The future is SFF. But Nvidia have no cards to compete with at this price point. Will be fun to see if nvidia change 4080 prices before or after the launch. Maybe they will wait after the launch of the AMD cards to see where the 4080 should be priced? Edit. Nvidia have now the golden chance to go back to Titan branding to max out profits from the full fat ADA and just let the down cut 4090 be the fastest geforce gaming card at +1600$. -
If AMD struggle to sell out their AM5 platform and Zen4 chips this year and instead hope it will increase into 2023 then you'll have Intel with a brand new platform who will run into 2025. And new tech is out then. AMD need to do something now... Not late spring next year or coming summer. Then it's too late. Also don't forget that many will keep their platform up to 5 yerars without the need for change. They just put in a new graphics card and keep on. I know... My sons do the same. And they are both gamers. Not as old pa😄 You won't be able to sell much of the new expensive platform if you continue pump out old hardware as below. And low sales of the new AM5 platform means AMD/partners have to pay more for the parts for the MB (see article above). Aka low sales of the new MB's means they are stuck at high prices and can't sell it cheaper than it is. One of AMDs problems... People don't want to pay for overpriced HW. "This is fantastic news for those on the AM4 platform that were dreading the prospect of not only having to buy a +++$400-ish processor, but also a $200+ motherboard and optionally new DDR5 memory." RTX 4090 & 53 Games: Core i9-13900K vs Ryzen 7 5800X3D Review REVIEW GRAPHICS CARDS Intel's new 13900K offers amazing gaming performance, thanks to improvements to caches, IPC and higher operating frequencies. But is that enough to beat the 3DV Cache-powered AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D? What about platform cost?

Have seen several with exactly same problems. Could be sBios/Mb don’t play well with the cards. People start up and everything works well with the card running with all 16 lanes then come back and see only 8. Very random. And sometimes it is stuck with 8 lines all times. Mostly seen on Z690 boards. -

Me thinking a lot of the fire is due the new modern connectors not propperly connected. They need to be perfectly connected. JonnyGuru almost killed many of the adapers and proper 12VHPWR connectors/cables in his testing. Almost killed them and still no failures. And he have done testing several months and tested many of them. I imagine this mess is hard for Nvidia to try explain the gamers7consumers. A new mounting manual in the GPU package won't fix this. Many don't seems to understand how it important this is to follow. Gaming first, then fire, LOOL And this is from AMDs HQ looking into reddit threads right now.... -

Then they will be sued for false advertising. Both Nvidia and their AIC partners will have even more to think about😄 If they can't fix this the proper way they are in deep trouble. What you say reminds me all too much about Dell's AREA-51M jokebook flagship fiasco from Dell Alienware. Dell was forced to castrate the firmware to stop their trashbooks from burning up. -

I expect we will se many cases with smoke and fire forwards if nvidia can't find the culprit 🙂 And it will be a lot less profits if they have to adjust the prices the way @electrosoft suggested. Not easy being Nvidia right now. They are into an Firestorm, HaHa RTX 4090 Woes Get Worse: Native 16-Pin Reportedly Melts as Well No one is safe. Have to deal with fire and AMD's new released cards better prices won't be easy. Not sure what's worse for them, LOOL Only 3 cards have gone up in smoke today. As a sidenote... JonnyGuru (from Corsairs Research and development (R&D)) have deleted his reddit account, his quotes and threads. I wonder how deep this nvidia melting tragedy sits. The cancer from angry reddit users pushed him away. The small kids should instead have flooded nvidia support with their anger. Or just buy older gen nvidia graphics or go with AMD😎 -
If the sales of AM5 don’t make a huge sales this year and only will increase next year, AMD has only a few months to do it before Intel is out with a brand new platform. The longer AMD will wait for price reductions will only gain Intel.

The 4080 aint out. And they can manage reduce prices for 4090 down to sub 1500$. Then replace the 4080 price point with an 4080Ti. Put the 4080 back to the price point it was before. Aka only the 4090 owners will be angry. Just pay back $$$ to AIB partners (the difference). As it looks now... Nvidia will loose money and market shares once the new cards pop out from AMD. Better change it now while they have the chance (this will help on - less angry buyers of the launched cards as well). Being in own league offer the most expensive cards (not a very high performance lead) well over its competitor, doesn't make it easier to keep up market shares. Intel learned their lesson with Raptor lake. On time Nvidia do the same. AMD have same problem as nvidia now have, with their Ryzen Zen 4 chips. The sales dosn't looks great. They are bad.
