Cleaning and reseating drives and ram, would that stop errors?
Papusan replied to Kassowen's topic in General Discussion
Hi. Nope, you'll need to do a clean Windows install. Always do that regardless of version you have. Here's the Win 10 Tweak library from old NBR. Links go to Tech target but many of the tweaks is shown "How to" in the different posts + you can google the tweaks. Windows 10 Tweaks and Fixes (Index post #1)/ I use... Win 10 Ent 2019 LTSC and Win 10 Ent 2021 LTSC in dual boot. Those Windows versions comes with less bloat. Then I use the software below. I never follow Microsoft own patch update schedule. I update when I see the need and when I know the patches is safe to install. And I update Win update patches that I myself have downloaded and only when I have disconnected the network. Proper links to threads below. WUB - Windows Update Blocker v1.7 O&O Shutup - O&O SHUTUP10 v1.9.1429 WPD - WPD v1.5 RC1 All about Windows 10 (LTSC included) news and announcements By Papusan, March 1 All about Windows 11 news and announcements Here's also a tool for Windows 10 tweaks from Chris Titus. His debloater script tool is brand new and updated and may have some bugs in the beginning. A good tool as well. And follow the OS forum section. Always updated with new info about Windows and Microsoft stupidity.... Windows Good luck brother, whatever you want to try🙂 -

Our old friend, the salesman Frank Azor is out again to promote the advantage with Radeon RX 6000 graphics cards. All is about better performance per dollar. As well FPS pr Watt. Nvidia releases emergency security driver for Kepler GTX 700 and 600 series GPUs Sayan Sen · 2 hours ago And as usual.... nvidia put up the middel finger to those with Kepler based laptop graphics cards. Nvidia has released a couple of drivers today for Kepler-based GeForce GTX 600 and 700 series cards. However, these drivers are not your usual Game Ready drivers but are important security updates. As such, the driver changelog does not list any fixed bugs or known issues. The release note only says: The links to download the new security drivers are provided below: Download: Windows 10: Standard / DCH (473.47) You can find more details on these vulnerabilities on Nvidia's security bulletin page here.

Fanboys will eat everything. Even increased costs which provide you nothing! Of course the HW manufacturers will take an advantage of it. The desktop world isn’t any different than the Jokebooks word. This is just sad. https://www.techspot.com/review/2462-amd-radeon-6750xt/ And should you wait for 4090 Ti that Nvidia will most likely offer later (refresh/milking?) a year before next gen 5000 series cards pop up? Could be since they probably will release the cards a bit earlier than the normal. Isn't it nice? 3090Ti K|ngp|n cards is barely out and we may see the 4000 series cards (4090 rumored to offer 90% higher performance vs 3090Ti) well within 3-6 months. I expect it's a golden opportunity for Nvidia to give the 4000 series cards a real price hike if they at same time continue produce and sell 3000 series cards. Rumors say that Nvidia will continue with 3000 cards forwards to help the gamers to have a chance to buy cards. I rather think they will use this opportunity to puh the MSRP higher than ever for next gen cards. Isn't this what we call Greed ? https://www.techpowerup.com/294910/nvidia-geforce-rtx-4090-twice-as-fast-as-rtx-3090-features-16128-cuda-cores-and-450w-tdp https://videocardz.com/newz/nvidia-geforce-rtx-4090-with-16128-cuda-cores-and-450w-tdp-is-allegedly-twice-as-fast-as-rtx-3090 -

Use the bot or Notebookcheck info page to check where it stack up. You have still headroom for improvements. Can add this into bro Fox post.... Use an Macrium backup and save your current OS setup and then test out different Windows versions. All depends on how much time you are willing to put into it 🙂 https://hwbot.org/hardware/processor/core_i7_11800h/ - https://www.notebookcheck.net/Intel-Core-i7-11800H-Processor-Benchmarks-and-Specs.525586.0.html -

Yep, if you grind on what you have there is often some headroom for improvements. Sometimes you improve some of the sub tests and lose on others. Then back you go. Get everything better is what drives you forwards. This is more as looking on the same old film several times. But it has to be a film you enjoy🙂 Broke +39000 in 3DM 11 Physics but this isn't valid for 3Dmark. It’s what it is. This one is valid for Hall of Fame, but I didn't get the best total score... Grabbed 3rd place in 3DM11 Entry for GTX 1070 with a "huge margin" of 4 points 🙂 https://hwbot.org/submission/4997025_papusan_3dmark11___entry_geforce_gtx_1070_42914_marks https://hwbot.org/submission/4997028_papusan_3dmark11___performance_geforce_gtx_1070_28669_marks -

You didn't list what OS you use. But the last two months patches from Microsoft have been a huge mess. Read more about it in the Win OS section. My best bet... This comes from Windows buggy patches. -

Yep, important to show up some improvements/news for the buyers so close into next gen cards…. Only 2 weeks and we are in June. I could understand it if this was done for a new gen cards. But not a refreshment on a soon 2 years old graphics chips/architecture. This reminds me too much of AMDs game bundle to sell out their stocks of cards to stop the price drop. https://www.notebookcheck.net/Nvidia-GeForce-RTX-4000-series-could-be-launched-earlier-than-initially-anticipated.619820.0.html -
Windows 11 KB5013943 is crashing PCs with BSOD, antivirus firm Sophos warns Windowslatest.com Mayank Parmar - May 15, 2022 The problems introduced by Windows 11 KB5013943 (May 2022 Patch Tuesday) are pretty serious: it's crashing computers with Blue Screen of Death if they rely on certain drivers required for apps like antivirus.... This cumulative update was released to fix a number of issues and bugs in Windows 11, however, it seems like Windows 11 KB5013943 is causing the dreaded Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) on some systems with specific drivers, including those that support antivirus software. The problem is also present in the update for those using Windows 10, but it’s worse on Windows 11. To fix the BSOD errors, Sophos recommends uninstalling the update by following these steps: Pause Windows updates to prevent the update from installing. Select Start > Settings > Windows Update. Pause updates for 7 days. Open Control Panel. Click Programs And Features. Click View installed updates Look for KB5013943 and uninstall it. And Microsoft will also make the life harder for the Windows admins. Bad and buggy messed up patches ain't enough. Windows admins frustrated by Quick Assist moving to Microsoft Store Windows admins have been expressing their dismay at Microsoft's decision to move the Quick Assist remote assistance tool to the Microsoft Store....

Yep, there is still headroom for improvements. At least if we continue bench with Win 7🙂 with Win 10/11 it will be a huge failure. But it will be hard grabbing 1th place without better cooling, HeHe. And as always, nice scores bro John. -

They added a clock speed cap for the memory. Darn disgusting. And they can make better cooling if they want. This is Jokebook design decisions behaviour. Aka make it half-baked then improve a bit on the refresh. Yep..... -

I checked that Direct Die kit from Supercomputer. From what I can see from the pict the fins looks quite ok. So most likely a contact issue. But not so sure you'll get equal good results as you got with your previous kit for the older Cpu with an perfect coldplate. It need radical better results to match that. Have you seen others results for the kit for 12th gen? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The bot is down as usual. Second time within 2 days. So I couldn't post the new scores from my old stuff. But I'll grab an 3rd and 4th place in 3DM Cloud Gate and 3DM11 Entry when I get it posted🙂 https://www.3dmark.com/cg/4892136 - https://hwbot.org/submission/4996606_papusan_3dmark___cloud_gate_geforce_gtx_1070_77715_marks https://www.3dmark.com/3dm11/14977975 - https://hwbot.org/submission/4996602_papusan_3dmark11___entry_geforce_gtx_1070_42748_marks And will get an 6th place in 3DM 11 Performance. But got an good Physics score https://www.3dmark.com/3dm11/14978010 - https://hwbot.org/submission/4996599_papusan_3dmark11___performance_geforce_gtx_1070_28615_marks The others on the bot top ranking use TESS and LOD tweaks (Not valid on 3DM). Hence I'm alone on the top on Futuremark leaderbord for 1070. Better than nothing, LOOL Not bad with an AIO.... (Splave benched with LN2 and 7GHz and only gained an 7.6% lead)🙂 https://www.3dmark.com/hall-of-fame-2/3dmark+11+physics+score/version+1.0.132 -
Plus it will we easier for Dell to sell parts to the average Joe when they need parts. Of course within the obligatory/extended Premium support warranty periode. Outside that window, you are pretty screwed if you need Dell parts for you pc/laptop that have an expired warranty. This is worst of both worlds. Screwed + forced to pay premium. Can't beat that combo... Can it?

Have you tested the contact point/pressure between die and the cold plate with only a layer of LM on the die? Maybe a pressure/contact problem. -
And you have similar problems to the Dell graphics cards. The proprietary bridge connector between the DGFF (Dell Graphics Form Factor) card and the MB is a very weak and flimsy constrution. A lot people had to swap it with a new one after they took out the graphics card for replacing the thermal pads. Proprietary design sucks. And it is more dificult to find used.

From the artcle posted below.... 25% isn't far from 33% who is 1/3 of all graphics cards sold. At the same time last year, it was estimated that approximately 25 percent of partner manufacturers' graphics cards go directly to miners . That interest has now cooled, at least according to one of Asus's CEO SY Hsu . During a meeting where the company's financial results were presented, Hsu explained that the recent price reductions are related to the fact that the demand for graphics cards for breaking cryptocurrencies has decreased. Asus: "Miners' interest in graphics cards has cooled" According to Asus' CEO, lower graphics card prices are associated with reduced profitability and extinguished demand for graphics cards for mining. -

This just show how important miners was both for Nvidia and AMD. Their only chance to push prices well above MSRP for next gen cards is to limit supply. But not so sure they want to do that. At least not nvidia who don't need the silicon for Cpu's as AMD. Better try sell twice as many cards than push out less cards to keep up disgusting prices. We will see when the fall come... There is pressure on the Global economy (worse times for everybody now - and it will last) so not so sure it will be easy try trick people into new very expensive gear. At least not if they try put prices where they never should be. Wish we could know the truth about how many graphics cards nvidia+AMD and its partners have thrown out to the miners. This outside the retail channels. We will probably never ever get the real numbers.
