  1. NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 OC Shootout: ASUS, COLORFUL, FE, MSI, GAINWARD tweaktown.com The ultimate GeForce RTX 4090 overclocking showdown: ASUS vs COLORFUL vs GAINWARD vs MSI vs Founders Edition... which overclocks the best? Best Overclocker You'd probably think it was the ASUS ROG Strix GeForce RTX 4090 OC Edition that is the best overclocker, but you'd be wrong... the ROG Strix RTX 4090 was topping out at just 2940MHz but your results may vary. The best overclocker that I've got here with my pile of custom GeForce RTX 4090 graphics cards is NVIDIA's own GeForce RTX 4090 Founders Edition which hit 3080MHz (but crashed) but was perfectly stable at 3060MHz. Fun seeing Nvidia eat up their partners🙂 A good beginning before we see next chapter "eat their own" (5x90 FE). Have control on chips and memory chips bin quality/supply chain, pay off. Give it one of the best price tag help as well. Nvidia vs AIB partners = 1-0
  2. Nvidia confirms Windows 11 Task Manager reporting is broken with latest 526.47 driver neowin · 5 hours ago 6 Nvidia has acknowledged the false reading issue that is currently affecting its graphics cards. The company has provided a temporary workaround for the problem with its latest 526.47 display driver.......
  3. Nvidia instructs AIB partners to send RTX 4090 cards affected by power connector issues directly to headquarters notebookcheck.net | Today The fun part.... Nvidia warn about use of 3rd party adapters 🙂 Edit. A new one today. And as usual... And CableMod reps strike while the iron is hot 🙂 Edit. And here is an new. But from MSI. The nightmare for NVIDIA has just began. When will we see the first house burned down? We've got out first MSI 4090 that melted (Suprim X)
  4. Every single KF chip will be used as KF (only binning will be for clock speed). If Intel was really smart they would release an 13900KFS 🙂
  5. He meant his own chips, so I don't count in Intels 11th gen failure (backported to Intel's 14 nm+++++++ process node)🙂
  6. 11th gen Mobile is on 10nm. 12th and 13th gen is 10nm+++++++ Edit. And older mobile on 10nm have a lot less cores, so.
  7. You need to compare amount cores, clock speed and what power budget the Cpu have. You can't compare Intel chips tuned to be in Jokebooks. A sidenote.... 12th and 13th gen have same IPC, so... All boils down to castrating the chips so it can be able to be used in thin and flimsy From what I remember he have 12800H aka 10nm chips (12th gen).
  8. The horror has a face – NVIDIA’s hot 12VHPWR adapter for the GeForce RTX 4090 with a built-in breaking point Summary and conclusion The overall build quality of the included adapter for the GeForce RTX 4090, which is distributed by NVIDIA itself, is extremely poor and the internal construction should never have been approved like this. NVIDIA has to take its own supplier to task here, and replacing the adapters in circulation would actually be the least they could do. I will therefore summarize once again what has struck those involved (myself included) so far: The problem is not the 12VHPWR connection as such, nor the repeated plugging or unplugging. Standard compliant power supply cables from brand manufacturers are NOT affected by this so far. The current trigger is NVIDIA’s own adapter to 4x 8-pin in the accessories, whose inferior quality can lead to failures and has already caused damage in single cases. Splitting each of the four 14AWG leads onto each of the 6 pins in the 12VHPWR connector of the adapter by soldering them onto bridges that are much too thin is dangerous because the ends of the leads can break off at the solder joint (e.g., when kinked or bent several times). Bending or kinking the wires directly at the connector of the adapter puts too much pressure on the solder joints and bridges, so that they can break off. The inner bridge between the pins is too thin (resulting cross section) to compensate the current flow on two or three instead of four connected 12V lines. NVIDIA has already been informed in advance and the data and pictures were also provided by be quiet! directly to the R&D department. Some heads has to roll at nvidia's engineering team. Because this adapter is a fire hazard and should have never seen the light. What with the 12VHPWR connector on the GPU PCB? Hot running connector on the adapters side won't make it more reliable in the length. Plastic will wear out faster from the added heat (even if you replace it in time - before the smoke, melting and fire).

  12. A new one. Nvidia is in deaper and deaper water. Can Jensen swim? My best guess... Class action or recall of cards/in best case sending out new adapters. Nvidia's investigation team can't keep up with this pace. One per day is +60 before Christmas Eve. And there isn't many 4090 cards out there. I think my Asus 4090 TUF OC adapter is melting too https://ibb.co/94Q97dX https://ibb.co/0q0RWPq https://ibb.co/YXK1d2h https://ibb.co/XYBHG5L Had to disconnect my GPU to make space for the 13900k installation and I noticed that one of the pins looks melted. What should I do?
  13. AMD Releases AM5 AGESA 1.0.0.3, Reintroduces C-State Boost Limiter with >4 Cores Loaded Techpowerup.com | Today, 16:11 AMD released the latest version of the AGESA microcode for Socket AM5 platform. The new version 1.0.0.3 most notably reintroduces a Precision Boost C-state limiter that [accidentally?] got removed with version 1.0.0.2. This limiter prevents the CPU cores from boosting above 5.50 GHz when more than 4 cores are active (i.e. experiencing heavy workload). SkatterBencher demonstrated how this affects performance on Ryzen 7000-series desktop processors. NopBench, a utility developed by ElmorLabs, lets you figure out the maximum boost frequency obtainable as workload scales across available CPU cores (i.e. starting from 1-thread, to n-thread). NopBench invokes the NOP instruction, and measures the number of NOP instructions can be processed per second. To make the NOP throughput comparable among processors of different microarchitectures, an architecture-specific factor is used, which for "Raphael" is 2.5x. By comparing the NOP throughput of a Ryzen 9 7950X processor tested with AGESA 1.0.0.2 to 1.0.0.3 (ASUS ROG Crosshair X670E Extreme BIOS versions 0611 vs. 0705); SkatterBencher was able to confirm that that the boost limiter is back in place, and limits Precision Boost frequency to 5.50 GHz when the NopBench load exceeds 4 cores. From the comment section....
  14. Bad news bro @Mr. Fox @Ashtrix+++ Google Chrome Users Running Windows 7 Or 8.1 Will Soon Need To Find A Fresher OS Chrome is the most popular browser on the planet and we reckon there's a fair number of people surfing the web with it inside Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 8.1. Well, bad news for them—barring a last-minute reprieve, Google plans to sunset its Chrome browser on Windows 7 and Windows 8/8.1 with its version 110 release that's due out in a few months. If you're affected by this, then heads up that Google is tentatively planning to roll out its version 110 release of Chrome on February 7, 2023. That will be the last official update to Chrome that you'll see on your platform. To continue receiving future releases with new features and security patches, you'll need to update your platform to Windows 10 or Windows 11. "Older versions of Chrome will continue to work, but there will be no further updates released for users on these operating systems. If you are currently on Windows 7 or Windows 8.1, we encourage you to move to a supported Windows version before that date to ensure you continue to receive the latest security updates and Chrome features," Google explains in a recently posted support document.
  15. I wonder if this size is too big for the package....🙂 Maybe 3080@20GB can stop the 4090 fire? Nvidia could save up 4090 dies and make 4090 Ti with improved power connectors/adapters and release it sooner than later. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Newegg: Refund Issued for RTX 4090 Box Filled With Metal Weights tomshardware.com https://www.tomshardware.com/news/newegg-responds-to-metal-in-rtx-4090-box A Newegg representative told Tom's Hardware via email that it refunded a customer that claimed to have received blocks of metal instead of an Nvidia Geforce RTX 4090. The company also claims that banning customer accounts is a "normal" part of a fraud investigation process.
  16. The way Nvidia prefer you install your brand new 4090 graphics cards. Big gain once again for Nvidia (less prone for fire and reduced chance for increased RMA costs), HaHa While Nvidia investigate the fire and smoke... Very impotant to offer graphics cards that don't catch fire, and to keep up profits and at same time reduce inventory of older chips. ZOTAC launches GeForce RTX 3070 Ti with GA102-150 GPU https://videocardz.com/newz/zotac-launches-geforce-rtx-3070-ti-with-ga102-150-gpu A card called Zotac GeForce RTX 3070Ti-8G6X Apocalypse GOC is a new model based on existing GA104 design. Both cards have an identical triple-fan cooler and, from what we can see from official pictures, a similar board design as well. This upgraded model features NVIDIA’s largest GA102-150 GPU, but only with 6144 CUDA cores. This means that as many as 4608 cores were disabled on this Ampere processor. @Rage Set Nice see you back. Hope all is well 🙂 Nice improvements bro Fox.
  17. This is topic brother. They sniff up news about Nvidia and fire everywhere. What next? And AMD use it for all it's worth. Scott Herkelman confirm that AMD do as Intel and scrapped this new Nvidia 12/16 pin "fire cracker connector". It’s a surprisingly concrete and technical statement about an upcoming GPU design, still more than a week out from its announcement on November 3rd. And to play devil’s advocate, it’s unlikely that Nvidia’s RTX 4090 issues played a part in AMD’s decision—it’s simply too late in the design process for AMD to switch course.
  18. The PSU's quality can be ok but they cut down on the wire gauge thickness. More metal increase prices and thinner wires make it easier for (less savy) people to route the cables properly in their chassis. Smaller chassis the worse. Should have been at least 16 gauge thickness on all (PCIe) cables. 15 thickness would be more proper (higher safety margin/higher current). Nvidia investigating reports of RTX 4090 power cables burning or melting theverge.com https://www.theverge.com/2022/10/25/23422349/nvidia-rtx-4090-power-cables-connectors-melting-burning I wonder how much this will affect the supply of 4080 and more of the 4090 cards coming weeks. Maybe the new new sibling of 3060 will help nvidia and it's partners to keep up sales of Nvidia graphics in this difficult time. The Nvidia fire crack continue... So appropriate with some fire music. Update 10/25/2022 4:30 pm PT A fourth case has allegedly surfaced on a YouTube video(opens in new tab) from the Bang4BuckPC Gamer channel. The user allegedly purchased a prebuilt gaming PC from CyberPowerPC with a GeForce RTX 4090. The power connector for the graphics card seemingly melted, and the user returned the PC to CyberPowerPC. We've reached out to the system builder for comment.
  19. Nvidia's 12-pin Power Connector-plug is designed too small and weak. And Nvidia went with 6 power pins due the small delicate GPU PCB design (3x 8-pins power connectors have 9 power pins). So do your math and find out how many power pins there is if you use 4 of those 8-pin PCIe connectors. The new 12-pin Power Connector should have been 50% bigger and nvidia should have offered 2 (some AIB partners don't follow Nvidia's design and mount the connector upside down) 90 degres angeled adapters, outside offering the regualr adapter they offer in the package. 3x 8-pin PCIe power connectors would never been approved for more than 450W (525w if we count in 75w from the PCI Express x16 slot). Because thats the specs . Hence Nvidia neeeded an custom power connector. But they screwed up the design of the connector. We would never ever have seen graphics cards validated for more than 450/525W if Nvidia speced the new cards with 3x 8-pin PCIe power connectors. A custom Gpu power connector is actually a great idea if the connector has been designed/engineered properly from the beginning (bigger, more reliable and with more power pins). Without the custom nvidia connector we would never seen Neptune 4090 with 630W vbios. Because nvidia would never ever made 4090 FE cards with 4 8-pins power connectors. And we both know why nvidia released 4090 Fe with same max TDP as most of the custom made AIB cards.
  20. Another GeForce RTX 4090 16-pin Adapter Bites The Dust published about 1 hour ago Great balls of fire!!! https://www.tomshardware.com/news/another-geforce-rtx-4090-16-pin-adapter-bites-the-dust I wonder how long it will take before we see a statement on status from Nvidia. Nvidia launched an investigation into the matter when the first case surfaced, and with good reason, since meltdowns are starting to become widespread. The user feedback shows that the problem may reside with the design of the 12VHPWR power connector. Bending the cables too close to the connector seemingly causes some terminals to loosen up, leading to uneven mating.
  21. As you can see... Not many of the computer chassis is meant for 4090 with the new cable bend specs (3.5 cm). The way Nvidia think the chassis door (glass or metal) is meant to be used....🙂 Yep, CableMod is very keen on marketing their new products.... Intel avoided it for their new ARC graphics cards. They themself helped engineer/devope the new connector. And AMD avoid it as well. Nvidia needed it because they wanted more space on the PCB for cooling (remember they designed the cooling meant for +600w). AMD Confirms Radeon RX 7000 Cards Won't Use 16-Pin Power Connector
  22. This isn’t good for flash nand. They should run hotter for max reliability (+-50C). Aka opposite of the ssd controller.
  23. Yep. And you don't need to be an idiot. There is many people out there that isn't so clever in tech. And many don't follow the manual properly. Their main goal is to cram it in to start use it. This means bad publicity. But they have to do something with this. There have been a lot talk about this the last months. And we can now see the outcome. Was doomed to happen. Even an bigger warning sticker in the Gpu package won't help. Because people are so different.
  24. Two redditors now report that their RTX 4090 graphics cards are now dead, and melted power connectors might be the reason why. NVIDIA might have a problem with some RTX 4090 catching fire https://videocardz.com/newz/first-users-report-nvidia-rtx-4090-gpus-with-melted-16-pin-power-connectors Nvidia prepare for needed vbios changes? How many fried cards do they need to inspect before they do needed changes? 10, 20 or 25? Nvidia reached out to OP with the smoked connector Have Nvidia and their AIB partners sent with a manual in the Gpu package with an warning/guideline on how to properly bend the adapter cable/mount it properly on the Gpu? I expect we will see more smoke and fire when more people who enjoy small cute and shiny SFF chassis finally get their hands on 4090 series cards 🙂 The gamers paradise this Christmas holidays...
  25. Still not validated prediction/statistic.... But here's a few numbers. SP 95-99 is like what would’ve been an SP 80-84 with the 12900K. Basically a mediocre sample. SP 100-102 is decent/respectable. SP 105-110 is an A. SP of over 110 means potentially a P SP of 120-130 and this would be golden as of current sampling But I have seen good benches (great results) from so called "mediocre" chips, so. https://www.overclock.net/threads/official-asus-strix-maximus-z690-owners-thread.1794802/post-29052675
