Agreed 100%. I had a 3070 for a long time in my living room PC and even for 4K gaming with use of DLSS in many titles it was a great experience for me. The 13600K is the real star of the show this gen as usual. I knew the 7600X and 7700X were going to get destroyed this gen, but damn. -

SP101 with P112 and E81. Running to MC to grab yet another 13900K (not for me) lol. Trying to think up a good disguise before the manager at the CPU cage gives me some sort of side eye look. "Limit 1 Per Household" lol. I might be pushing that a bit. -

My local MC go ta shipment this morning, ran over and grabbed my third 13900K LOL. SOLD the SP99 to my brother instead of returning to MC. I refunded the replacement plans on it and my SP106 chip. Got an SP101 chip this time, luckily it's extremely weighted towards the P cores with kinda crap E cores. Perfectly good for me, can run it at stock 5.5ghz all cores with a 280mm AIO and graphite pad and still not thermal throttle at stock in CB23 which was my goal for this rig. Now I'll finally use real Gelid Extreme on it and get to tuning it. The SP99 was fine and would have been fine under real paste for daily loads, but this chip definitely has some much improved P cores. $569 is a very reasonable price for this insane chip. AMD is out of their minds with the 7000 series. -

Damn I wonder how many my store had today. I see no MC have any in stock anymore. -

Damn sounds like you got a beast chip. What are temps like in CB23? Is this with the chiller on? -

Microcenter?! I saw they have it but no stock around me. Maybe they’ll get a truck this week. -

Hard 8 is definitely a pit stop for me when I’m in DFW for training. Have never made it over to their MC though. After a lot of debate I decided to sell the 4090 FE locally today. I can’t justify the purchase for a living room PC that doesn’t get as much gaming use. It’s my hand me down rig and it needs to stay that way. 3090 Ti that “was sold” went back inside. Honestly still love the 3090 Ti, it will still be a power house card for years to come and is EVGAs final send off. I will keep it until I see what AMD offers or more than likely the 4090 Ti drops. -

I've never tried them with a 13900K 2x dimm board yet. But using my 13900K and Hero board they boot up to 7800 CL34 which is crazy for a 4x dimm board. EVGA BIOS is F'd and can't clock higher than 7200 at the moment. Nothing works. Grrr. Starting to hate EVGA motherboards quickly. Honestly my Asus board is putting them to shame which should not be the case. -

Funny you should mention that. I picked up a second 13900K last night from MC for the living room PC. Decided to go all out on it. SP99 on the second chip. RIP. Although I'm not sure what that will mean in terms of OC potential though so I won't go to hard on it. Out of box it draws 300w, so like 20-30w more than my SP106. Not terrible, but this chip more closely aligns with review samples of 300w defaults. I took the replacement plan on both for 2 years at $69.99, it's going back I think. If I have to, I will just claim my warranty on it. MC is usually pretty lenient with CPU replacement though. Unfortunately they sold out of 13900K last night. -

Meh I bet it's the A-Die. I doubt very much it's the Hero 4x board. Although Z790 is supposed to have better DDR5 but I'm not swapping boards this gen. -

Ya Shamancy A-Die. I booted 7800 CL34 but unfortunately it crashed fairly fast lol. Of course this was at 1.47v DRAM and 1.325v IMC. I figure I could definitely push voltages up and get stable, but for now I'm testing 7466 CL34 😛 at just 1.3v IMC and 1.435v default max voltages lol. On a 4x dimm Hero LOL. Unreal. -

So far what I'm most blown away by is the insane IMC ability of these new chips. Running 7400 CL34 on a 4x dimm Z690 Hero now. Just got home and going to test more. -

It’s not power limit lol. My bird has 4095w short and long term power limits. Meaning there is 0 limits applied to all. It comes down to silicon lottery and bios. Some board partners apply way too much voltage at stock. This leads to crazy temps and power. Asus usually is good. -

Bone stock run with my 280mm AIO and a graphite thermal pad for quick testing before moving it to the real rig. Unreal perf. -

13900K in hand!! $569 was an amazing deal, cancelled that shitty Newegg scalp job after I checked out. SP108 lol, not sure if this is good yet. But Jesus first try 7400 CL34 booted on a Hero board. IMC is def improved. I haven't even tried higher yet but I'm thinking it's gonna be a go. Chip seems pretty damn amazing as expected. SP106. SP115 and SP88 on E cores. 40,600 CB23 out of box on Z690 Hero to test CPU quality first before Dark. Using only a 280mm AIO it stays under 90c and pulled 272w peak package power. 1.190v load at defaults and 55x P and 43x E. This chip is insane. Can't wait to further tune it when I get home. Wife is making me run some errands with her today lol. -

Putting the FE in my living room rig hooked up to an OLED 4K 120 G-Sync TV. After seeing the performance of the 4090 and getting the opportunity to buy a second at MSRP, I took it. Haven't set it up quite yet though so can't comment on it's quality, I'm sure it's fine. All of them are going to be within a few fps of each other anyways this gen. I'm headed to MC in the AM, they're opening a bit early and should hopefully be able to snipe 1. They have it for $650. -

It’s in that DF video. He compares the latency. You can pick and scrutinize all of the reconstruction techniques as I said. ALL of them can have ghosting, artifacts, etc. None of them are yet perfect, but again as I said you really have to be looking for them or bothered by then. DLSS 1 was worse upon launch as was DLSS 2. Early days for the tech, and improvements are sure to come. For now I’ll enjoy getting double the frames and all the smoothness it comes with. As said in the DF video, around 80fps is where the perfect frame, AI, perfect frame smoothness becomes completely believable and smooth. When I’ve been playing flight sim 2020 I have yet to notice any issues. Just drove over and picked up a FE 4090 from Best Buy. Will likely be selling my 90 Ti for it. Feeling lucky to have gotten the secret buy link. This is total system latency. Why would we be comparing monitor latency? Again how did we ever play with almost triple the latency of DLSS 3? -

Talon replied to Mr. Fox's topic in Desktop Hardware
Watched DF video about latency and they measured 25ms to 35ms with frame gen on vs off. Not even close to double. 10ms isn’t something anyone is going to notice even in a fast paced twitch game. 35ms is far from high latency. How on earth did we ever game before we had Nvidia Reflex and had over 100ms of input lag? Artifacts are definitely there with all types of up scaling tech. DLSS, FSR, etc all have artifacts. The issue is that most of them require you to pixel peep and slow down and zoom in 3-4x to see them. Others are more noticeable. -

Using any type of upscaling tech on an E-Sport title that runs on a potato isn't something anyone would do anyway so why would anyone worry about that? I'll take the far higher FPS on demanding titles rather than worry about going from say 25ms to 35ms of latency. I doubt anyone could feel or notice that. You know what they will notice though? Going from 40-50fps to 80-100fps average. -

Spent some time last night playing Flight Sim 2020 with the new Frame Generation and holy crap it's a game changer. Going from 4K Ultra everything at 40-50fps with DLSS quality to 80-100fps was incredible. Input lag my ass, the game 100% is smoother and far more enjoyable on a high refresh rate monitor. Some reviewers were knocking DLSS when it first launched and rightfully so, it was pretty bad image quality. Especially if you go back and retest/compare. Nvidia kept improving and now we have DLSS 2.x and 3.0 which are vasty superior and indistinguishable and even better at times than native for 4K gaming. The same thing is going to happen with this new frame generation tech, and you can bet Intel and AMD are both scrambling to find their own solution or tech. -

Congrats!!! That is one beauty for sure. If you want to spend the $4.99 you can pay for and download the newest 3DMark test Speed Way. https://www.3dmark.com/3dm/80901903 Only good enough for 89 world ranking so far. Fastest I've been able to get my card to go so far is 3105Mhz and 1600Mhz memory offset. Of course I haven't tried higher on the memory yet. No idea how these guys are getting higher scores on it though since some have lower clockspeeds. Has to be some config I'll have to tweak when I get home from annual training (ughhhhhhh lol). After I'm done with recurrent I have 9 days off, so plenty of time to tinker and take delivery of the 13900K. The next 6 days need to go faster. -

Unfortunately GPU-Z can't read my vBIOS yet. Hopefully just needs an update to read/save vBIOS. 500w default with 600w PWL at max slider. Of course the card doesn't need anywhere near this it seems. The cards are just stupid overbuilt this gen. Nvidia must have been thinking far higher power draw, the AIB partners built to that SPEC and now where have super size cards that don't pull anywhere near 600w. At least were not worried about hitting PWL anymore.
