I was wondering how to or if it was possible to have separate audio outputs when you connect an hdmi to an external tv or monitor with speakers. This is useful when gaming and watching video on another screen or vice versa. Usually have headphones for the game and listen in at certain times but want the audio from the tv to be primary. I thought this was a nice trick that's niche really. So I have a link to someone who figured this out, keep in mind you have to have the game running to do this so it's selectable. So go to settings, system, sound, advanced sound options and just select each output for each listed app/software. So I'd have VLC output to the hdmi and say Cyberpunk output to the realtek internal speakers. No more having to mute game sounds while watching something from disk on the external. https://www.quora.com/Is-it-possible-to-separate-sounds-so-I-can-play-games-and-have-the-sound-play-on-my-speakers-and-simultaneously-stream-movie-and-have-its-sound-play-from-the-TV

Fired up the Uncharted Collection and first thing it said was I need at least 500 drivers to even play, never had that before I was fine with 471 for months. I've heard newer drivers were causing problems for this game so settled on 512 drivers with NVCleanInstall of course, works fine. The game is pretty fun if slow starting and has a lot of cutscenes so far, wasn't sure which one of the two to play first so picked 4. Looks pretty good similar to the GOW sony crossover nothing mind blowing like cp77 but it does look good. Have it at a mix of high and a couple of medium settings, dlss performance gives me 75-90fps usually with dips down to 52 now and then. I'll use NCP and limit it to 60fps though. Seems to be locked to native resolution as it's greyed out, wouldn't mind going 900p not a big difference but lower usage. I was worried about having only 8gb ram but it works fine, uses almost all of it though. It's a pretty qte button mashing heavy game too so just set it to hold rather than beating my controller button to death.

Yeah it's just money grab imo, the game is great but it's not terribly long and it's linear how they think that some updating etc is worth the price a full sized new game is crazy. I don't think the original has a speaking protagonist either but I think they're having that in this remake. Look at Tomb Raider new series we got whole new games there along with modern graphics but nope these guys just do minimal amount of work and expect full pay nah.

Let's not forget profit factors here, big manufacturers are squeezing as much as possible, kind of like how cars are going especially with electrics, only high cost techs at dealerships etc can do work on them in a lot of cases. Simpler mechanical systems that did the job could be fixed/serviced by average people with a bit of experience but try to reprogram this or that, troubleshoot a pcb, change out the battery etc nah. Wish I could get just the manual door locks and window control, no fob required. I can get a 50$ steering wheel lock if I really need more security. Yeah it's only modular in certain ways and in the most meaningful it is not aka the bga pcb, no swappable gpu separate from the cpu and vice versa. I know you can go TB external gpu but that's a whole nother can of worms and cost. As I've said I've rarely had need of different I/O from what most come with anyway, only thing would be 3xUSB but that can be solved with a hub. The best thing about this is that it's made specifically with taking it apart in mind with no molding in place or need to actually break things to get to something else etc But if price/perf ratio is important to you this makes no sense.

As I play it more I think it's a really great game and they did a good job, it's very close to DL1 with just the missing guns and the not as scary/dark nights being the biggest gripes. The guns allowed kills without the extra camera bobbing which really gets to me after a while playing. I do have the bow at this point but that's longer range mostly. DL1 also had a large DLC in the countryside with a buggy which was cool. But the larger world of DL2 is great too and a lot more to do if desired. It does look better even at med/hi as I play it. With their extended support of DL1 afa online events I think we can expect it with 2 and some single player DLC also. It's a bit crazy to think trees and grass can grow on rooftops just improvised though, especially trees. You'd have to have a certain contained depth of soil for that and even then the rain would swamp it drowning most of it. It's possible but only when specifically made for it rooftops as large pots with drainage etc But videogames are fantasy based so there you go. The setting of the first one was middle eastern or around there, and a secret there is that Haran(in modern day iraq/eastern arabia) is where Abraham in the Bible set out from or moved to after his father died can't remember. Undercurrents everywhere. I guess I missed the region where 2 is supposed to be but with the architecture and accents it seems central europe.

Gave up again on Dishonored 2, I don't know what the problem is but I did play through it in 17 and don't remember having these problems, then couple years ago fired it up and same crashes, corrupted saves etc Got it working and saving a lot and it crashed my system and my mouse stopped working, doesn't show the pointer but it still is there, won't work on my mousepad but will on the table for some reason but is very in and out so had to get a new mouse. I'M DONE with DS2 for good. Finally tried Dying Light 2 and it's pretty good, parkour is easier than 1, graphics are worse since I turn it down to medium to get 60. Don't like that there's no guns but in terms of time going by it makes sense, ammo would run out eventually. Too much dialogue though. If I play it for longer time periods I get a headache, almost motion sickness even with head bob turned off. I like 1 better, the setting is better, the missions are better, funny side stories, nights are way scarier, zombies are not as scary in 2, don't get that eerie feeling of on your own as much in 2, 1 runs better, not as big etc But it's not too bad I'm in the city center now so I'm guessing about 12hrs in or so. It's a little weird they used the same voice actor as in the first one, they would have been better off having someone new since it's a different character.

Was playing dishonored 2 again and like my last attempt a year or two ago the bugs just kill this great game. I remembered the last place where my save got corrupted and also the game just would not start, at the clockwork mansion mission 4 I think. I can load up and get to that point but it still crashes transitioning inside again after saving sokolov, keep trying I guess but the 5 min wait time to load the whole thing up gets old the 3rd time. I only play at 1080p and I don't think high settings are too much for a 5 year old game but maybe try to turn it all down to get past this point. Pretty egregious that this mess was never totally fixed.

CDPR Announces New Cyberpunk and Witcher Projects
Hertzian56 replied to Hertzian56's topic in News & Announcements
Totally forgot about that so didn't follow it. I can't believe they didn't release that yet, doesn't bode well for this to be anything but investor speak. Probably never get more than one more or so of each witcher and cyberpunk game if even that, studio behind GOG will slow way down like Valve with steam, more money in being the middleman than actually making games. Or the third party makers will flubb it up, not too good of track histories all around. -
Yeah wait and see on this but it really just depends on how serious intel is about it, their commitment to drivers and such. Similar to the AMD-ATI merger. I don't see any reason why they can't be viable in real world gaming. Time and money to build it all up. Agree about new cards really being for 2k+ and not being as efficient with older dx games and lower resolutions mostly cpu there I guess. Notice the huge wave of remakes/remasters that require way over what the original games needed, they're just farming us really. Take down free mods that do all the important things the remasters/remakes essentially do charge way too much etc

Some more news about the upcoming Dead Space 1 remake, put the article link instead of the yt link because you have to login to see it on yt, age restricted I think. Doesn't look any worse than the original just more detailed. Apart from graphics overhaul they say it will be seamless with no loading screens which imo on average equipment last only seconds on the original anyways so whatever. One thing that they do hopefully is to not force us to push a button to open the various doors, found that annoying. Of course they're probably going to charge 20-30$ for it, not sure it would be worth it unless you're really into graphics. Recently replayed the first two still pretty fun. Edit: Steam page has a 59.99$ price no thanks https://www.dsogaming.com/videotrailer-news/dead-space-remake-gets-an-official-gameplay-trailer/

Company of Heroes 3 Releases Nov 17
Hertzian56 replied to Hertzian56's topic in News & Announcements
Company of Heroes 3 has been delayed until February 23rd https://www.dsogaming.com/news/company-of-heroes-3-has-been-delayed-until-january-23rd/ SEGA has announced that Relic’s upcoming strategy game, Company of Heroes 3, has been delayed until February 23rd, 2023. According to the publisher, Relic needs a bit more time in order to further polish the game. SEGA was originally planning to release the game on November 17th. Thus, we’re basically looking at a 3-month delay. Company of Heroes 3 aims to bring the series’ intimate boots-on-the-ground storytelling to a brand-new theatre of war, unlocking authentic new tactics, factions, and a wealth of untold stories from World War II. The game will be using the Essence Engine 5, the latest evolution of Relic’s proprietary real-time strategy technology. And, from the looks of it, the new destruction system will set new standards for strategy games. Moreover, Relic promises to implement some authentic new features.- 5 replies

Saw this and thought it was a pretty huge announcement, two top level ips with new titles. Kind of seems like lots of promises and to be taken with several grains of salt though. Based on the last game this should all be out by about 2077 lol Just copied the text of the article not sure how to do inline links for non yt stuff. https://www.dsogaming.com/news/cd-projekt-red-has-announced-three-the-witcher-games-a-sequel-to-cyberpunk-2077-and-a-new-ip/ CD Projekt RED has announced three The Witcher games, a sequel to Cyberpunk 2077, and a new IP During its latest strategy call, CD Projekt RED revealed its new projects/games that are in development. According to the company, there are three The Witcher games, a new game set in the Cyberpunk 2077 universe, and a new IP. Going into more details, Project Polaris will be a sequel to The Witcher 3. For Project Polaris, CD Projekt RED plans a new trilogy. On the other hand, Project Canis Majoris will be a new story-driven Witcher open-world RPG. And lastly, Project Sirius will be another The Witcher project/game. Project Orion will be a sequel to Cyberpunk 2077. This does not really surprise us. After its rocky launch, Cyberpunk 2077 has met commercial success. Now since these are brand new projects, we can safely assume that they will be using Unreal Engine 5. After all, CDPR confirmed in March 2022 that its next The Witcher game will be using Epic’s engine. As CD Projekt RED officially revealed: “Orion is a codename for our next Cyberpunk game, which will take the Cyberpunk franchise further and continue harnessing the potential of this dark future universe. Polaris is a codename for the next installment in The Witcher series of games, which we recently announced was in pre-production. It is the beginning of a new saga: we aim to release two more Witcher games after Polaris, creating a new AAA RPG trilogy. Canis Majoris is a full-fledged Witcher game, separate to the new Witcher saga starting with Polaris. It will be developed by an external studio headed by experienced developers who have worked on past Witcher games. Sirius is a codename for the game developed by The Molasses Flood, set in The Witcher universe and created with support from CDPR. It will differ from our past productions, offering multiplayer gameplay on top of a single-player experience including a campaign with quests and a story. Hadar is a codename for a third, entirely distinct IP, created from scratch within CDPR. The project is in the earliest stages of the creative process, which means we are not developing any game yet, but working exclusively on the foundation for this new setting.”

Tunic is fun for about half the game then it just devolves into annoying backtracking and trying to find hidden paths that the fixed view makes a pain to find, not to mention the combat is not that great and the enemies get to clip through walls and all combine to chase you out of their zones if you try to just run past them, almost instant death every time. Save points are very spaced out too. The fantasy language of the user manual gets on the nerves after a while too because a lot of what is necessary to move forward in the game requires pouring over it and trying to figure out what it means. If I wanted to pour through a manual which is in a foreign fantasy language I'd make sure I was getting paid for my time, not good. Games that almost require online research on a regular basis are flawed. I don't recommend this game to most people. On a better note kept playing cyberpunk because it's so amazing looking and it became pretty fun all over again, just did the main missions and side missions mostly and a few gigs here and there. Loaded up a save that was about half way and enjoyed it, just doing the open world and side missions that come up since I'm to the final main mission which I did several run throughs of first play through. Really wish there was a post main ending option to keep playing, would have been cool to choose playing as silverhand or v too.

Take2 took down the GTA4 definitive edition mod saw on dsog, maybe getting ready to release a 4 DE of their own for the holidays. Started playing Tunic which is a pretty fun isometric free roaming adventure, it is very similar to Deaths Door in a lot of ways.

EVGA terminates partnership with NVIDIA

Yeah that's true they did say no other gpus, and there is still no mention of any of this on the evga website in the news and announcements section. I think the original stuff said it was mentioned in some forum there though. I'm thinking they will probably sell that division off to someone else who would rename it or if an existing gpu maker just integrate it into their line. They may also have some new business contracts, not in gpus, that have better margins etc who knows. -
It'll look better graphics wise when released I'm sure, probably not at max when these were made. A decade just too long to milk one title in a series and like cp77 people are going to expect near perfection after that long, even though RS is not as dumb as cpdr and their marketing blitz etc years before release. It'd be nice if they had a separate single player only release that takes up less room locally and is priced lower, and I doubt any meaningful dlc will ever be released just the shallow stuff that's online only like 5. But customer satisfaction isn't any concern for these huge companies if it ever was.

Yeah noticed within a couple hours of posting the first one was dmca by tt guess I should have watched more bc it wasn't too exciting or any better looking than v is. 6 has a lot more competition and a lot more games to compete with, sure it will sell like hotcakes at first but probably a big drop off, more milking of the online for another decade. Going to lose a lot of us for good I think. And you can bet the sjw wokeness is going to be made mandatory in the story and other places. Only thing I'd look forward to from them would be more of the rdr series but again they inserted their politics into the last one as well, not looking good going forward. Most AAA games suck now, indies where it's at.

Eh after a few days of playing old saves and wandering around kinda bored of cp77, doesn't have the same replayability for me after 18 months I guess. That DLC can't come soon enough. Maybe checkout judgement which I guess is a yakuza type of game same devs.

Oddly there's nothing on the evga website about this, you would think they would at least have something in the news or press release sections about it. My gut tells me they already have an inked deal with either intel or amd because to just throw away most of your revenue stream is suicidal, the other things they sell are all related to gaming and hard to think that's going to be enough to sustain them at the same size without massive layoffs and selling whole units off. I owned a few of their cards never had problems last one was the 1060 mini itx. -
I'm guessing money, that online thing is just a license to print it, why bother working too hard on a new game when the old one makes so much. I also think RDR2 got in the way as well, so gta6 wasn't given the focus that it needed. From what I remember there was some drama at the studio too. Pretty amazing how nice gtav still looks and the world is so alive, add in mods for everything and it's still going strong. Playing cyberpunk just shows how much more alive the whole world in gtav is, once you go to certain areas of cp77 it's dead and there's just not as much to do besides the police stuff after you do the available stuff. It's all ground based, no flying, no boats, no diving etc etc etc no mission maker from what I can see limited mods are mostly cosmetic and qol.

Yeah I think I found one of the new gigs, saw that on the dlc it's good they're still supporting this game just thought with the budget they would have released a story dlc, meaningful, by now though almost 2 years later. People still worked through covid, bills didn't stop coming. I also compare it to the alive Los Santos of GTAV, pretty dead compared to that for sure.

Coming from playing old games for a few months it's astounding how good cp77 looks even at the med levels I play at, just explored the city. At my settings it's high on cpu so it's locked at 60 with dlss auto and sharpening, maybe play around with resolution and other settings to try to balance it out more. Was thinking of trying a few QOL mods. Such a shame we have not got more meaningful content in almost 2 years, more noir would be great instead of the mad max alt stuff. I'm thinking of Nick Valentine from FO4 tech noir would be cool the night atmosphere with all the wet streets and neon would work well for bladerunner tech noir stories too.
-
I don't think it adds anything, not sure though, just polishes the experience, really liked the game, they just way overhyped it and expectations were way too high and of course it has some shoddieness here and there that should never had made it out of QC, bugginess, their own fault. And meaningful DLC's 2+ years after first release? if we're lucky. Was also playing Dead Space 1 such a classic.

Got the new map for thehunter cow, revontuli coast which is in finland, I think the devs are in scandinavia so it has a bit more lore to it. There's only one main story mission and it's just a walking tour of some of the refuge, not too impressive. Previous maps main missions were multipart and usually featured rescue, trespassers, other drama and the africa map had a whole huge cave that featured supernatural elements. This has some side missions at least, the previous few maps, total of 12 now I think, had no side missions just a main story mission. Still there's the huge open map and hunting, this map features more birds and the first time I've seen ducks in the water ever in this game even though previous maps should have had ducks. Pretty impressive support for a game that launched in 2017. It's all paid add ons though. Was getting ready to reinstall cyberpunk, the new update kind of made me want to play it again. I never had problems that were game breaking previously though, have not played since early 21.
