  1. OK today I got in the mail for my ANTIQUATED, OBSOLETE, OUTDATED, FORMER DTR m18xr2 a cheap, unwanted triple pipe primary GPU heat sink for $8.09 plus tax and free shipping that nobody wants anymore!!! Just Saying And they labeled it wrong to top it off!!!
  2. So this (NH55JNNQ) looks like the way to go! This is the new Hot Thread then Official Clevo NH55JNNQ / NH5xJNxx 12th gen Socket 1700 LGA laptop thread on this forum all thanks to electrosoft I just like a 17" screen instead but this https://clevo-computer.com/en/blog/tests-benchmarks/clevo-nh55jnnq-laptop-with-replaceable-processor-and-nvidia-rtx-3070-ti-graphics says replaceable processor
  3. The EUROCOM Raptor X15 comes with RTX 3070 TI with a starting price of $1999, but thats the base and any upgrade would kick that price into orbit. I don't think it's mxm and wonder how the upgrade option works. The upgrade option page allows to order RTX 3070 Ti and charges $1249 but can't figure out what I would get in the mail
  4. Aetina doesn't sell to the public. But like you did I got a quadro P4000 on ebay for $280 few months ago and also see P5000 and RTX 5000 an HP, DDAY3493 on this forum put in his Alienware 18 and when the industry finishes using theirs they will be on ebay. I dont know where all this is going but I love that I can upgrade these laptops and am not saying not to buy a skinny to take Mountain climbing with you but my MXM is staying home on the DESK!!!
  5. What about these co.s Aetina, Adlink, Cincoze, PNY, Wolf all seem to manufacture MXM cards https://www.aetina.com/products-detail.php?i=427 https://www.adlinktech.com/Products/SearchResult.aspx?lang=en&SiteID=16041112321545803&key=EGX-MXM-RTX5000 https://www.pny.com/Quadro-RTX-5000-MXM https://wolfadvancedtechnology.com/products/mxm/wmxm-p5200-vo https://www.cincoze.com/goods.php?cid=66 And I think this DTR Idea is a pipe dream, its like comparing 4x4 monster trucks to motorcycles, Its a different Sport, maybe a different application. The industry is chopping this tech up to make money, not to suit up everyones personal want's. So it puts more pressure on the smaller niche communities. The status quo is not where we will find solutions, it might just be in the salvage yard, but these co.s give me hope cause they are making mxm cards for important industries, military, medical, gaming of some kind and others
  6. Wait, I installed the bios you posted for the m17xr4r [FPT]-M17x_R4_BIOS_A11_-_[unlocked]V2 and they are working fine, you also posted the A15 unlocked M17x_R4_BIOS_A15_[unlocked]v1.4 but I did not install the A15, Maybe If what you are talking about might help with the GTX 1080??? But I have no clue about porting them but sounds intriguing
  7. He definitely modded it, I can see the bottom left edge was almost completely ground off, the thicker part that drops down. Nice Job, can see where it would have touched, I'll probably get another heatsink for this, maybe a copper with more than 3 pipes The 2nd pic, is that screw grounded? circuits can be funny sometimes, don't know if both stock mounting holes need to be or not.
  8. Thanks for this, you have opened a whole new set of options for these Magnificent Antiques! A whole new set of mxm cards. That nut is soldered on to the MOBO??? I think I can do that, without removing the MOBO hopefully Just have to decide to go with m17xr4 or m18xr2. So the boss for stock screw does not touch the gpu? And Thanks again very much appreciate this!!!
  9. You could also try these cmd (Admin) one line at a time it will refresh windows looking for corrupted files 1 line at a time and let it finish Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth sfc /scannow check disk chkdsk C: /f /r chkdsk /r does the same thing as chkdsk /f only it also checks for bad sectors on the disk and recovers any readable information. Running chkdsk /r implies that also chkdsk /f is run. chkdsk /f only checks for disk errors, not bad sectors. ________________________________________ Clean and Analyze the WinSXS folder DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup SFC /SCANNOW DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /AnalyzeComponentStore SFC /SCANNOW Restart your computer After the restart, open command prompt (as admin) again and run DISM. DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
  10. I must disagree with gone and dead. The best laptops ever made were made in the last ten years and they are still cranking, mxm & pga upgradeable and still upgradeable and still on ebay at all different prices, availability and delivered to your door. I can buy a RTX A4000 and put it in any of the mxm laptops and it will run more games than I can download. Granted they are not desktops but that is like comparing street rods to formula 1 race cars. Different purpose. The manufacturers saw what they did and realized there was no need to continue with upgradeable laptops because we still have and use and upgrade them. So they made throwaway laptops for the masses to make discusting amounts of $$$ and build up e-waste. I dont need a new laptop its no fun, no challenge. I want to keep my old machines tuned up, upgraded as to its capability, and running as smooth as possible. I dont need the highest benchmark on the web But the BEST it can do and when it aint I can give it a check-up, its more of a hobby or a sport but NOT a competitive sport although that can occur and its hard to resist. I see so much potential for these old laptops and so does some Big Industry Players because I can buy their old mxm cards and be happy with that. They are still using mxm laptops says something about this Tech. And I am hopeful they continue to need this type of Tech eventually new manfacture may come about. Right now Eurocom seems to be the last holdout, but if I buy one it should last at least 10 years and I should be Happy with that!
  11. mIcRozlop is to big to learn, they follow the $$$$$$$$$$$
  12. It crashes at 2 different processes, depending on the drivers, it may crash during driver install or after a restart after driver install. I think older drivers like in the 472 crashes after restart but the later like 512 crash during install, but not sure it might be the other way around. I would have to swap the card and go another round but want to wait on the programmer so I can try different vBIOS. I really thought I was changing the vBIOS because the cmd window seemed to say successful, but going back to a card that works (P4000) my memory starts to get sketchy of what really happened. It gets nerve racking when looking for a solution and giving up knowing the other card works. I bought the card Mar 20, 2022 and gave good feedback, dont think a return is possible. But this 1080 deffinatly working because before a restart I was able to run Two Firestrike benchmarks (https://www.3dmark.com/3dm/73750402 and https://www.3dmark.com/3dm/73753021) Strange the score difference but maybe it was OC settings. I also got a benchmark with 1080 in the m18xr2 but that also was getting BSOD. Its so much easier to swap in m17xr4 its a pleasure in comparrison
  13. How did you get this to fit with the mounting holes being offset? I have seen these and passed them up thinking they won't fit. Was afraid of shorting the card where the offset hole would touch where the other screw is supposed to mount OK My Bad the RTX 5000 is NOT in the Alienware 18, its in something else
  14. That sounds like a possible solution, I'll pick up a programmer. I also tried in the m18xr2 had same problem but just Blue BSOD, but it ran long enough to do Firestrike demo https://www.3dmark.com/3dm/73750402 in m17xr4 and also in m18xr2 but cant find that shortcut. This tells me the card is good And yes I had to file the heatsink for the power plug housing in the upper right corner and an area on the left side, its a tripple pipe and the P4000 is running pretty cool What is a good vbios programmer tool recomendation?
  15. Yes I'm in U.S. I have the vBIOS I extracted with GPUZ but I don't know if they are original aetina. The card was purchased on ebay from "noexcuse" claiming "open box" and I don't know if the card is any good. I can put it in my dropbox and you can grab it or if I can post it here IDK The file size "253 KB (259,072 bytes)" GP104.rom
  16. Are the sheeple following m$ft or is m$ft following the sheeple, kinda like a dog chasing its tale. I need some pepto-bismol!!!
  17. Modify INF is no problem, I do all the lines according to device manager hardware IDs and go down the list, fill in just like in your video and nvidis installer has no problem then windows asks if I want to install and I hit install anyway. The P4000 gets installed the same way and has no problem. I just put back the P4000 just now and it runs Great!!! That must be the best Deal for a card I ever found thanks to you, and the seller I keep a tab on!
  18. I don't recall if it was on or off with the 1080 but it is off now with P4000. I will give it another try. Any suggestions on vBios for the 1080 or should I put the original it came with, but I dont know if the original I got it with is the stock vBios. I now have quite a few from techpowerup.com/vgabios Tried again and get BSOD (blue) during driver install. Newest drivers (512.95-notebook-win10-win11-64bit-international-dch-whql.exe) Tried custom and express Just tried 436.02-notebook-win10-64bit_Aetina and get code 43, but at least no BSOD
  19. Yes Win 10, It worked for a few hours but after a restart gave a blue screen and tried quite a few different drivers and vbios but only after a restart from driver install. The orange one was the last and gave up, went back to the P4000 and running real smooth. The gtx 1080 only gave a problem after driver install restart it would BSOD after POST I even got this score https://www.3dmark.com/3dm/73753021 Also in the m18xr2 gave BSOD but ran ok before restart, it happens after restart after driver install. It seemed ok until a restart
  20. ssj92 made a great video but I extract the nvidia driver with 7-zip and edit the inf there so I dont have to time it and if I forget to set driver signature enforcement I dont have to extract it again. also in safe mode DDU I hit clean and do not restart so I can set driver signature enforcement in the same operation, instead of restarting so much. Also the nvidia setup.exe I shortcut to desktop so after restart its right there. I also have a txt page with hardware IDs so copy and paste to inf streamlines my install. Lazyness and impatience leads to shortcuts lol
  21. OK! so this unit shows a desktop GPU that can connect to a laptop. Looks interesting https://www.aliexpress.com/item/3256802616461835.html?aff_fcid
