Looking at this mini PC for my wife for her office.
kojack replied to kojack's topic in Desktop Hardware
I think I am going to the old tried and true XPS system for MrsKojack too. Better to spend extra and get what we want and be happy. I am extremely happy with my XPS workstation and I am sure it will suit her fine too. I can install Noctua cooling to keep it quiet then as well. -

I will have a look and see what I can find with that setup. She will be mostly doing admin work, but may start doing some website work with me as well. Maybe some 'Cricut' work as well. Nothing intensive at all. -

Can you buy something like this to hold you over? LG Electronics 8,000 BTU DOE/SACC (11,000 BTU ASHRAE) Portable Air Conditioner with Remote | The Home Depot Canada -

I would never order from NewEgg, even back when I was building OC'ing machines, they were the shadiest of shades. Hundreds of stories just like yours. Pay your money, get a "tracking number" and nothing ever show up....fight for months to get your money back (if you could). Good luck in getting it all resolved. As for 4k/1080. It's a "real" thing, but you have to have your nose on the screens to notice it. Now, color accuracy, gamut etc are all things you can clearly interpret with the naked eye. -
I am looking at the following mini system for the wife. She won't be doing anything graphics intensive so I think this would be ideal to keep her office clean of a big box. I am also getting her the 27 inch MSI white monitor and white desk arm for the monitor. Your thoughts on this little system? MINISFORUM TH80 Mini PC 11th Gen Core i7-11800H Micro Computer, DDR4 16GB RAM + 512GB PCIe SSD, HDMI/DP/USB-C(4K@60Hz) Outputs, 2.5G LAN, 5X USB3.2, Intel UHD Graphics Small Form Factor : Amazon.ca: Electronics

You can always order a second one. use a mount like I have. Works awesome. I have my entire desk with 2 24's on them. I am going to move to 2 27" monitors asap. Might even be the new studio monitors if I like the Mac Mini? ewww. ha ha. -
Tablets are another matter all together. I take both my Samsung a7 lite and ipad 10th gen with me. ha ha...Depending where and what we are doing.

I am in the get a lightweight laptop for travel and keep the desktop for heavy lifting. That's what I have personally. My dell 2 in 1 is my travel buddy. It can do anything I need while being lightweight, decently powerful ( can edit 4k video etc but rendering is slow) if need be, but take the same project and pop it into my workstation in my office it just skips right on through. I am looking at apple lately too, I am thinking I am going to move to Apple (keeping my current dell stuff as well) and try a macbook air M3 for travel, and a mini M3 for desktop. I am just waiting to see what M3 brings before shelling out the coin for it all.

You going to miss the real estate you are giving up? -
Sounds like a whiny AMD fan to me. Could only watch a few mins of him crying about Linus with intel/Nvidia equipment.

It doesn't bother me. I find it funny though that people constantly make names like "mircoslop" etc and still use it and just post every single day about how bad it is and blah blah blah, and still use it. I laugh at it. Just move to something else, find software to do what you need to do and be a much happier person. Instead, the few will post 20 links per day about mciroslop and their terrible, no good, bad, software and rant and rave about it all day on here. TOO FUNNY. There are many linux distros, and MacOS you can go to and be happy. Instead of being miserable posting crap in every microsoft / windows thread use something different and move on with your life. It's quite simple and enjoyable really. I tried MacOS 3 times now, each time, I sell at a loss and move back to windows. I voice my opinion on MacOS when asked why I don't use it, and move on. I am not on every single macOS thread whining and complaining about it.

I would have thought the same about the lag, but on macrumors, there are people complaining about the same thing. So, I am going to sit back and see what m3 brings. I will return to staples, or the source next to work, and see if the M3 has improved response. As for the printer situation, yeah, apple claims "it just works" when they want it to work. I have an old HP photo printer that prints 13 inch wide prints. I can still use it using drivers off the net and it works fine, but plug it into a mac and NOPE! Hell that was even back in 2011 when I had my last mac mini.

Me either. I have been using windows 11 since launch day and it's been solid. Fast, and responsive. The ONLY issue I have with it is with the start menu and no availability to completely remove the "recommended" section of that. Nothing shows up there but it's taking space that I could use. Other than that, I have 11 installed on every windows system in the household and they all run great. The doom and gloom here is from a few people who just complain about everything microsoft. They are masochistic, Complain about everything microsoft like it's the devil, but refuse to move to other platforms. Totally silly behavior.

They damaged the angle sensor for sure while doing the repair. If you damaged it, You would have been charged. Either way, hope it all works for you moving forward. I was 95% sure I was going to move to all mac for my systems. But, After trying 4 different models at staples, I am 100 percent passing on them. The lag there is when opening programs like safari, mail, photos and more is the deal breaker. My inspiron is faster than the mac for doing normal things. I could not stand the lag when clicking on a program just to have the mac sit there with a white screen and the monochrome beachball spinning. I would have chaulked it up to the single machine, but 4 different models all did the same thing.

Basement jaxx. OH crap....flashbacks....again!

I thought asus were changing their ways but nope. They bricked the proart laptops and refuse to fix the issue. 24gb of vram it is and I will be using other components now. Going with a razer 16 for my new notebook too

Sorry with that type of logic you will be placed on ignore. Chow! EDIT: I will just add, normal is a normal word in the English language and was never used as a derogitory word. Retard and the N word (the real N word) were and are used as demeaning words towards groups of people. Learn history and linguistics and you maybe able to understand the difference. Good try though!

I was all set to splurge for a new asus proart studiobook, but the razer is 1. Thinner, 2. lighter, 3. Mini LED, 4. NOT ASUS! I think I am going with the Razer 16 as a new workstation while mobile.

Never thought of that. I installed the VRM heatsink on my board that never came with it. Good call! -
We are back down to "normal" temps here thankfully. it's 9deg Celsius right now at 6:08 in the AM. NICE outside right now. We did get cooked for 3 weeks however, hottest temps we have seen on the island. But, the winds have shifted bringing in colder northern air to give us some relief. EDIT: just like to add, the climate is still royally eff'ed. We had 2 tornado touchdowns this summer alone. We NEVER get tornadic activity here. Don't get me started on the power of hurricanes here now as well.

In the machine with the CX600 PSU, whats the crazy dual fans at 90 deg for? -
Close to my heart. It's my province, Ron Hynes was a hero to me, and Signal Hill KICKS MAJOR ASS.

Could you be more clear on where this is directed? ha ha.
