To me it is not about price as much as the philosophical intelligence (or rather the lack thereof) in allowing the Green Goblin to reward themselves by selling these defective samples instead of taking a financial blood bath on it. I'd rather see them lose their a$$ financially and draw back an infected bloody stump. Even if they sold them for $1200-$1500 I think they would still profit rather than suffer financial losses. They just wouldn't sell for 200~300% of their actual value. The one that stands to profit most should also incur the greatest losses when their failures fly in the face of the hype and chaos their aberrant behavior has both caused and promoted. I'd love to see every company involved in AI development start incurring gigantic and staggeringly severe financial losses that will cause them tremendous pain and suffering.

Sadly, I think most motherboards are made that way now. Too many PCIe lanes are being robbed for silly things that don't matter to most PC enthusiasts and gamers, such as Gen5 NVMe and USB4. The motherboard manufacturers have lost touch with what actually matters to most of us. (They probably also do not care.) Not only do they fail to understand the difference between overclockers and gamers, they fail to identify the difference between a turdbook owner that wants to attempt to mitigate their disaster with the help of an e-GPU (a legit use for USB4/Thunderbolt) versus a person that builds a desktop with all of the right stuff and values having more control over what their money buys (or doesn't buy).

So much for a simple request. Apparently they only make changes to BIOS options when enough people complain that the missing option is a problem. So stupid that the BIOS has no option to disable the onboard WiFi/BT module. I guess that I will just have to disassemble it and remove it since I have no use for either one. It makes matters worse that it is WiFi 7 since there is not W10 driver support for WiFi 7... W11 poop OS is required to use it, which is unacceptable.

I agree with @Papusan and do not think using liquid metal will be very beneficial on the GPU overclocking. This made more sense on laptops that had much weaker cooling systems and run much hotter under the most ideal conditions due to their physical limitations affected by form factor, thermal dissipation capacity, sloppy parts fitment and engineering defects. I think the benefit of liquid metal on a desktop GPU would be negligible in terms of increasing overclocking potential. I am planning to use PTM7950 when I take apart the 9070 XT. That is your best solution to have a one-and-done durable TIM. That may come at a cost of 3-5°C higher temperature with the PTM7950, which is not going to get you very far.

I played a bit of BF 2042 last night and the 9070 XT is boosting to like 3375, most of the time running 3100-3200 MHz. This is with a -0.060 undervolt and +10% power limit. Leaving it on stock defaults it is like 1.100V and rarely boosting to 3000. Definitely need to crack this thing open and see what I can do with the temps. Especially the memory. They've got the wrong pads or something. I haven't seen video memory temps this high since cryptomining with the 3090 KPE. 9070 XT handle BF2042 at 4K with maxed out settings without issue. FPS range from about 70 to 120 with an average of around 90 FPS.

Maybe they are counting on people settling for undesirable models because the ones they really want are not available and they think people will become too impatient and overpay for something they never wanted. It would make me happy to see all of the inexpensive models have dismal sales numbers and the AIB partners just start dumping them for whatever they can get for them and then stop wasting time, money and resources making and selling the garbage models that only the peasant kiddos want. AMD should stop offering 9070 and only sell 9070 XT and NVIDIA should only sell 5090 and 5080.

Brother @Papusan I think they are all scum that are going to screw every customer to the maximum degree customers are willing to tolerate the abuse. They are probably fishing in order to find the price point where the average person pulls their head out and uses their brain to say "Bite me [insert brand name]. Go find an idiot to buy your overpriced trash." and decides to not buy a product because the price is just too ludicrous to accept.

If you have an established account at overclock.net I would first list the items in the marketplace here and at overclock.net so you can bypass the fees from peeBay and PayPal. You can count on losing 10% or charging at least 10% more than what you actually want/need to offset the fees. I haven't needed to sell anything on peeBay since I started selling in forum marketplaces.

I don't have WoW, but here's this. CP2077 4K w/ RT and PT SOTR 4K w/ Highest Graphics settings Looks like I need to do something about the memory temperatures. The memory chips must need thicker pads. The core max is 61°C but the memory junction is 90°C. But, it runs 3350+ on core with no issues. (I have not tried higher than that.)

My impression is this is better than average. I haven't finished tuning for the PBO profile, but it is definitely WAY BETTER than the CPU installed in the Gene. Once I delid this and go bare die in an Apex mobo I think it will be even better. I think I am pushing the limits of this EK CR360 Dark AIO. See PBO settings below. I will see if I can take the Curve Optimizer higher than 25/20 sometime tomorrow. Right now it is not far off from my manual overclock with fixed core ratios. I am still working on trying to figure out the B850 Gigabyte AORUS Elite board. The behavior is very different than the Gene or the Cabron. I am starting to figure it out, but haven't gotten as far as memory fine tuning yet. This is just the XMP profile with tREFI maxed out and tFAW set to the bottom value available in the BIOS (20). I bumped the voltage from 1.450V to 1.550V. Even though it's got some degree of weirdness to it, I am actually more impressed with this B850 AORUS board than I expected to be. I was not very happy initially, but it was because I was struggling with getting things tuned because of the very different behavior/response to BIOS settings compared to what works on the Gene and the Cabron before it.

We've already had that conversation multiple times before. Sometimes you have to use Winduhz even when you would prefer not to. My employment revolves around the use of Micro$lop applications that do not function on anything but Windoze. If everything made to run on Winduhz ran on Linux some of us would use only Linux and wouldn't waste drive space or burn any calories forcing Windoze into conforming to our will. Winners take control of matters to the greatest degree possible to make the best of a bad situation and force things to go their own way rather than falling in line with Kool-Aid stained lips. If you want color go with auto antifreeze. Then you do not need any biocides or other additive. You can choose from red, blue, green and gold. That is what I have been using since my first custom loop. It's better and a whole lot less expensive than when it comes in a branded PC coolant bottle.

I am not sure that I will ever purchase a 5090. Maybe a used one, if ever at all. I haven't heard anything nice or good about 50-series. Too many design defects and engineering flaws for something priced as though it were perfect, and I can't identify a good reason to spend more than the already-retarded prices I paid for 3090 Kingpin and 4090 video cards. I never enjoyed them at a level consistent with the purchase price and I think I would ultimately end up disappointed with the purchase. I think Jensen is too busy enjoying the investor circle-jerk and his gigantic salary and bonuses to give a rat's butt about the people NVIDIA is screwing, or the products he is selling them.

Well, I went ahead and pulled the trigger on the Montech AIR 903 MAX for the work PC build. It's not awesome like the Antec C8 or Lian Li Dynamix XL EVO, but for the price it's great. Very affordable. The 140mm fans (four included) are pushing more air than I imagined they would and run very quiet. The Montech Metal 120 fans I used to replace the EK AIO fans are also insane. They seem very well made, have solid performance specs. The only thing they lack is a unified design that connects them together. But, the RGB and fan cable are combined into one (very nice) and only split apart at the connector ends. Here are some pics. The one thing that Montech didn't do right is the same stupid issue most cases have. The space above and behind the motherboard needs to be greater. Above the motherboard there it only has enough room for thin radiators and push fans. No way you can install fat radiators and push/pull. That sucks, but I understand "normal" is their target market and gamerboy AIOs is what 99% of their customers are going to be installing. So, since I am using a gamerboy AIO for this application it's OK. It would NOT be OK with a custom loop. It feels like the entire PC industry is deliberately leaving overclocking enthusiasts up the creek with no paddle with fewer and fewer options to build something we can be proud of. Behind the motherboard tray it would be nice to have an extra 15-30mm of space. I got the cable management done without a bulge in the side panel, but man it sure was tight. The gamerboys get all hot and bothered by the case taking up too much space. I think (maybe) I have figured things out with the Gigabyte B850 board. Definitely seems like a firmware issue with voltage control. Setting manual voltage does not seem to function correctly and pushes way too much voltage to the CPU no matter what I set it for and regardless of the LLC settings. Even if I use maximum vdroop it goes up to 1.400V in Cinebench. I have to use "Auto" with a negative offset to pull it back down to a reasonable voltage level. At any rate, Cinebench scores are right up there with the Gene and Carbon at less than half the cost. And, I can use all three PCIe x16 slots without the GPU getting emasculated to PCIe 5.0 x8. And, this CPU is better than the one in the Gene. It can handle 2200 FCLK. The other 9950X won't boot at 2200. It caps out at 2175. I am going to have the check the SP rating and see how it works on an ASUS mobo that has better voltage control. That will have to wait for another day. I'll likely wait until the APEX drops and then delid it.

Agree. Using colored coolants is a great way to clog the loop, shorten pump life and forever stain acrylic. Using pastels is worse than clear. Three scoops of dirt in the loop versus one. This has been true for years. I used black once and it caused lasting issues. Now I use only distilled water and auto antifreeze. JayzTwoCents has many videos on this, but people make their own personal decisions. Logic often does not factor in when lust of the eyes, lust of the flesh and pride of life are driving forces behind choices we make. Robots don't have this problem.

No support. No problem. If you actually care about that, just run a script to flip it to LTSC/IoT Enterprise permanently HWID activated in an instant. No reinstall necessary... easy 30 second fix. And, not getting the newer Winduhz sucky crap "features" that you don't want rammed up your tailpipe is also a win.
