More for the same amount money... Is quite rare.  can't remember last time I have seen similar from any tech.

With a price of SEK 1,800 when I write this test pilot, Phanteks Glacier One 240 T30 is among the more expensive dual-fan AIO variants. In fact, you can buy the Phanteks Glacier One 360MP for the same price and get more fans and a bigger radiator.

And then we have 4070 Ti coming out in January. Less or equal performance vs 3090. If people are smart... Check the sales pages forward to see if they can grab a card from previous gen. Me see it will be hard for Nvidia put the 4080 at $999. Why should they if this card parform slightly above what the best AMD can offer? On top they have better features.

The worst of this mess. AMD can't even compete properly with xx80 from Nvidia. And Nvidia have still not released a xx80 Ti.

In other words, "Back to our regularly scheduled program." 🙂

Here's to hoping the actual reviews shore up the 7900xtx a bit in gaming performance......

His results have been sus in the past but sometimes accurate. There's a reason he is stuck around 12-13k subs.

With that being stated, in pure raster I still expect the 7900xtx to beat the 4080 overall in gaming and Nvidia to drop prices on the 4080 and then introduce a 4080ti to slot in between the 4080 and 4090 that will beat the 7900xtx.

4090 is off in its own dominant world looking down on all current gen GPUs.

Exactly like I said before. If you have a 3090/3090ti or even a 6900xt/6950xt to a degree the only logical, meaningful upgrade path with a true and proper upgrade in performance is the 4090 or wait for the AMD refresh which is going to be more than just a binned GPU and slight uptick in memory bandwidth this time around. Then we have Nvidia with the 4090ti behemoth waiting in the wings to top off their win this time around too.

Nvidia need to fit in this one as well. With the price hike it will be more expensive than 3070 at $499 MSRP. Either $549 or $599.

Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 Specs Leak: AD104 Cut by a Quarter tomshardware.com

Significantly behind the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti?
According to the leak, Team Green decided to use a severely cut-down AD104 GPU for the product, though it remains to be seen how fast it will be in actual games and how it will rank on our list of the best graphics cards.

Reducing the number of active CUDA cores so significantly ensures that Nvidia will have plenty of AD104 graphics processors that are good enough to power GeForce RTX 4070 graphics boards without doing extensive (and expensive) binning.

Edit:

Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070: Leaker reveals specs of the 31 TFLOPs "middle class" graphics card

The big question remains the price - the GeForce RTX 3080 was originally supposed to be launched for a list price of 699 euros, but due to the shortage of GPUs and currency fluctuations, prices have risen massively since launch. Introducing a new mid-range graphics card with only slightly better performance two years later at a higher price can hardly be described as "progress". However, since the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti is said to cost $899, customers should hardly expect a cheaper price.

I think it is appropriate that the 4080 is 25% cheaper than 4090. What is not appropriate is the 4090 is overpriced by about $1000. So, they are both ridiculously overpriced and represent a horrible value. Neither one is worth the amount of money they want for them.  Totally absurd.

I probably still wouldn't buy a new GPU even if the price was appropriate due to lack of Windows 7 driver support. But, certainly not at the asinine current price.

That sounds awesome. Please share some photos when you have time, and as the project progresses.

That is still one thing I look at too. Windows 7 drivers! If none exist, its a hard pass.

Not only me thinking the same. See here... And my youngest son went with a relative cheap 3070. I can't see much is tempting by this gen graphics cards. All too much binning and too high prices. If people is able get a cheap 3090 (Ti) and don't bother too much with RT, they will do a good deal.  Because everything below 4090 is a huge Joke. Nvidia need to shave of 2-300$ for each 4xxx SKU to make it a worthy purchase. We don't live in a mining hell anymore. Neither should the prices.

Nvidia will destroy the market more. Nothing will change is my guess.

DLSS was already a headache, a damn TAA sharpening upscaler, upscaling BS is useless for those low end cards as they have pisspoor VRAM and awful memory speeds and Low Resolution 540P -> 1080P upscaling like you bought a PC and then running upscaling why not buy a console and get Checkerboard rendering at this point. RT is also trash for Low end & Mid Range cards, since enabling that will get a 50% perf hit and with lower VRAM they get crushed to oblivion. It's useless, not a single title worth it.

Just look at Portal RTX Nvidia Tech Demo - RTX 4090 gets 60FPS with DLSS3 (FAKE FRAMES, had to cap it) yeah $1700  2022 card needs "fake frames" on a game which released in 2007 that too at 60FPS. Fantastic RT performance right.

And the consumers think they will get better performance esp at lower resolutions with low end Nvidia cards but nope, in reality RDNA2 is a far superior product when it comes to 1080P/1440P and not 4K across the entire stack including the 3090Ti vs 6950XT (4K is low on AMD because GDDR6X and memory bandwidth does not exist). Reason I mention low/mid end is because that's where the market is in terms of Volume and that's where people get shafted big time.

- Upscalers get worst fidelity on 1080P/1440P (because low/mid cannot handle 4K so they use Upscaling on low res)

- VRAM cap + Silicon shenanigans (RTX 3060 vs RTX 3060Ti (got VRAM capped lol) vs RTX 3060 8GB (cut down silicon not just VRAM, it's a SCAM)

And RDNA2 6800XT it creams all the Nvidia cards in the price bracket that it's a damn joke, is super cheap now, still people prefer Nvidia sadly.  So below you see 3070Ti with 8GB VRAM vs 6800 with 16GB VRAM beating it (not the 6800XT it will destroy even more, and 6900XT will obliterate), see the last title, DOOM Eternal a proper optimized solid game 23% diff.

DLSS vs FSR not much there when you are downgrading Fidelity and both are almost neck in neck and games have both and RT is a joke when you speak a poor RT effects junk like - Reflections, Shadows that too on these Mid / Low end GPUs. RT GI is the real deal but how many games have it ? Cyberjunk 2020 DOA dumpster. Metro Exodus is other worth but perf hit will be massive and still the non RT a.k.a Pure Raster game looks beautiful !!!

RX 6800 16GB - NewEgg AIB card pricing - $590 to $579 +Tax

RTX 3070Ti 8GB - BestBuy AIB pricing - $639 to $719 + Tax

RX 6900XT AIB card price - $684 and that is = RTX3090Ti / 3090

image.thumb.png.a06ff1299a69bcb3704689fc95a699a1.png

So the market will not correct. And Nvidia will ruin it more, the new DLSS3 / FSR3 more fake data for nothing, Fidelity is already lost in PC with upscalers.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And here's a video that I just came across and how glorious Nvidia's "Flagship" card gets itself suicided into a useless pile of e-waste junk starting from DX9 to DX12 Vulkan in a ton of games. AMD obliterated the Nvidia card and will continue to do so. Poor owners of the Kepler thinking Nvidia is really the best performance king.

AMD's driver optimization still worked wonders on that outdated EOL GPU meanwhile Nvidia's GPU Optimization just crashed into oblivion. And if you check relative performance at TPU the 780Ti vs Maxwell, you see 980/970 near that in 10%+.  So you can guess where they stand now Kepler / Maxwell both vs AMD outdated GCN, Yes, Nvidia always had poor ASync Compute performance so not a surprise in Vulkan and DX12 but that's not an excuse since only Ampere got it improved from what I remember not just DX12 in the Kepler case. And with that Shader Re-order whatever Nvidia calls for new RTX 40, it perhaps got that even more refined.

I will wait and see how Ampere will age vs RDNA2.

Dang! It's great to see how well AMD's offering has held up.

This video you linked to pretty much sums up why I don't look at general relative performance charts. It's best to check hardware comparisons on a per game basis. Generally speaking, AMD's GPUs do better in newer titles, that is, those released 2016 and after, but the difference is still game dependent. Throw CPUs into the mix and you affect things even more.

Based on all the research I've done, you have to spec your system around the software you use and games you play. For me, an Intel CPU + AMD GPU configuration would be best as I play multiple genres of games, including first person shooters, third person shooters, open world, realtime strategy, and also the occasional sandbox game. Pairing an Intel CPU with AMD GPU yields slightly more performance in games that are single core performance bound VS using an AMD CPU. Even then, sometimes the 5800X3D can match or beat the 13900K in games as some games benefit greatly from increased cache.

So yeah, your system needs to be purpose built for the particular suite of applications that you use so you can get absolute maximum performance in those games and software.

Haha, I actually still have it collecting dust in the storage shed out back. Ive tried to sell that behemoth a couple times, and tried to give it away too 😉 I cannot reply in that thread, there must be a post count minimum. If you reply to him tell him its a DG-86,

Small fans like those used for it frequently fail swiftly. I am not sure why they are generally unreliable, but they usually last me 3 to 9 months regardless of how much or how little I pay for them. Quality seems poor at all price points.

Yeah, sadly so. I will try to shop for a high quality replacement - it looks like a 60mm fan. The device itself is totally worth it as far as the massive RAM temp reduction is concerned. For now I pulled off the fan label, and applied a little drop of dry weather bike chain oil - the disturbing harsh rattle turned into a barely audible kind of high-pitched swooshing noise. Probably a bit too much oil.

BTW The system has been rock solid with the new PSU, running fairly heavily undervolted (-90mV) with +1 on E-Cores and CL32 instead of CL40. Massive difference vs the old Thermaltake 1200.

So, I have my components in the cart for purchase, I am just being a tightass and waiting to see if there will be any Christmas sales. I wasnt going to buy a video card, but have a RX 6800 @ $500 saved. That seemed like a pretty good deal.

Edit: Didnt realize the RX 7xxx were dropping on the 16th? That should drop the upper 6xxx card down in price? At least thats what used to happen 3 years ago when I last built...lmao.

On a side note, I see the Egg (via Micron tech store) has the 3 year old Radeon VII for a measly $2450. When I bought it, I think it was $1200. Are video cards like an investment now? Do they go up in price the older they get...:)

I posted a photo and asked if he is still looking for one. You could send him a PM.  I still love that case and if he doesn't want it then I may take you up on your old offer. I have more desk space than when you offered it to me and now I can accommodate it.

Looks like we have the same Logi speakers.

Nice looking rig. 👍I don't know if computer parts could truly be considered an investment. I think the true problem is the people selling them are greedier than ever and the people buying them are dumber than they used to be. But, it is kind of a sick (as in demented, not "cool" LOL) benefit to be able to prosper  off of the idiocy of the general population. Lord knows their idiocy causes more than enough problems in other areas of life.

Thanks...it was a nice looking rig. This is what it looked like, just before selling it. Had the Bykski water block on the Radeon VII.

....and now I see how cheesy the led light strips looked..

I remember buying cold cathodes back in the day for some lighting though. I like to have a little bling. Regardless, it is a selling point, and can look nice if minimally done. Im kind of an eye candy guy. Thats why I love Windows Vista, and Seven.
